Monroe Melvin
SALUDA — Thomas Monroe Melvin, 81, died Thursday, November 11, 2004, at Saluda Nursing Center.
Born in Ft. Valley, GA, he was the son of the late Walter and Miona Smith Melvin. Mr. Melvin was a US Army veteran of World War II and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Surviving is a sister, Ann Matheney of Winter Park, FL and two brothers, Calvin Melvin of Pahrump, NV and Clifford Melvin of Washington , UT.
A brother, Glenn Melvin, preceded Mr. Melvin in death.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, November 14, 2004, at Ramey Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Nels Ledwell officiating.
Interment will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 16, 2004, at Oaklawn Cemetery in Ft. Valley, GA.

Sidney Rogers Sr.
WEST COLUMBIA — Sidney I. Rogers Sr., age 77, WWII Army veteran, of West Columbia, SC, formerly of North Charleston, SC, passed away on Thursday, November 11th, 2004.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, November 14th, 2004, at 2:30 p.m. at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home Chapel -- 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406. Interment to follow in Carolina Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 13th, 2004, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors include his two sons, Darren E. Rogers Sr. and his wife Sabrina of West Columbia, SC, Sidney I. Rogers Jr. and his wife Theresa of Charleston, SC; two daughters, Delores Matthews and her husband Harry of Batesburg, SC, Deborah Vannoy of Lexington, SC, Also included are 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, sister Vivian Dudley of Aynor, SC, brothers, Gene Rogers and his wife Mildred of Charleston, SC, Dan Frank Rogers of Charleston, SC, and special thank you from Darren and Sabrina Rogers to caregiver Flossie Stevenson. Predeceased by wife, Sallie Edith Rogers.
Mr. Rogers was born on January 2nd, 1927 in Mullins, SC, to the late Ernest W. Rogers and the late Ina Smith Rogers. He had been a heavy equipment operator with Rogers Construction. He lived in Charleston, SC, until 2002 when he moved to West Columbia, SC. He is Baptist in faith. WEST COLUMBIA — Memorial Services for Joshua Clint Scott, 24, will be 3 p.m. Sunday at The Chapel of Redemption. He was born in Richland County to Cecil (Pete) Martin and Patricia McCutchen and died Nov. 11, 2004. Surviving are his parents; wife, Amber Scott; daughter, Tara Scott; stepmother, Nancy Martin; siblings, Celia, Christopher Martin; grandparents, Dolly Keisler, Virginia Martin, Bill and Peggy Sasser.
Wilford Shealy Sr.
COLUMBIA — Services for Wilford Morris Shealy, Sr., 91, will be held at 1pm Monday in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, conducted by Reverend Buster Wilson, with entombment at Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9pm Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Shealy died Friday, November 12, 2004. Born in Lexington County, he was a son of the late Sam and Hattie E. Berry Shealy. He was a member of Park Street Baptist Church and retired from Columbia Mills. Mr. Shealy also served in the S.C. National Guard.
Surviving are his wife, Fannie Shumpert Shealy of Columbia; daughters and son-in-law, Hattie E. Hatchell of Columbia, Alice Kay Payne of Columbia, Tammie and David Tollerson of LeGrange, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald Morris and Debra Shealy of Columbia, Wilford M. Shealy, Jr. and Sharon Shealy of Columbia, Allen K. Shealy of Columbia and Ricky L. Shealy of Columbia; 14 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Loretta Howell and 3 brothers.
Eula White
MARION — Mrs. Eula Ernestine Brown White, 93, widow of Albert Woods White, died Friday, November 12, 2004 at Mariner Health Care in Sumter after an illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 15 at the Chapel of Smith-Collins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Devotion Gardens Cemetery, directed by Smith-Collins Funeral Home.
Mrs. White was born February 26, 1911 in Marion County, a daughter of the late Rufus and Sara Hucks Brown. Mrs. White retired from Herbert Mills. She was a member of Spring Branch Methodist Church.
Surviving Mrs. White are: 2 sons: Legrand White and his friend Erma Bridgman of Marion and Elmer C. White and his wife Janice of Kingstree; a Daughter: Linda Martin and her husband L.E. of Sumter; a Son-in-Law: Travis R. Harmon of Columbia; 9 Grandchildren; 17 Great-Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great-Grandchild; and 2 Sisters: Christine Watson of Brittons Neck and Virginia Cox of Boaz, Alabama.
Mrs. White was predeceased by a daughter, Claudia Ann Harmon and 4 sisters, Lena Johnson, Lorine Eason, Thelma Everette and Katie Jo Cox.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 til 8 P.M. at Smith-Collins Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Legrand White at 1606 Hwy. 76 West, Marion.
