ABBEVILLE — Dillon Joseph Cann, 12, of 1758 Highway 20, son of David O. and Barbara Brown Nance Cann, died Saturday, March 22, 2003 at his home.
Born in Abbeville County, he was an AB Honor Roll student at Wright Middle School and attended Keowee Baptist Church.
Survivors include his parents of the home; and three brothers, Stevie Maye and Matthew Nance, both of the home, and Bruce Williams of Abbeville.
Services are 11 a.m. today at Harris Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Mize. Burial is in Melrose Cemetery.
The family is at the home of Bruce Williams, 202 Magazine St.

Rev. Otis Davenport
DONALDS — The Rev. William Otis Davenport, 82, of 164 Booker St., husband of Blanche Mattison Davenport, died Monday, March 24, 2003 at his home.
Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late B.F. and Bessie Mae Satterfield Davenport. He retired from Riegel Textile Co. and the Green Thumb of Abbeville. Founder and a member of Willie Kay Road Church of God, he was operator of Davenport and Son Lawn Care Service of Donalds.
Survivors include his wife of the home; five sons, Earle Davenport of Greenwood, Erskine Davenport and John Davenport, both of Donalds, Perry Davenport and Tim Davenport, both of Honea Path; three daughters, Joyce Davenport of the home, Jenelle Sizemore of Donalds and Wanda Walker of Cross Hill; three sisters, Thelma South of Greenwood, Onie Fleming of Columbia and Dorothy Banks of Omaha, Neb.; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Broadmouth Baptist Church, Honea Path, conducted by the Revs. James Hurley and Curtis Lanier. Burial is in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1.
Visitation is 7-9 tonight at Pruitt Funeral Home, Honea Path.
The family is at the home.

Eugene W. Gray
MARTINEZ, Ga. — Eugene Willenski Gray, 32, of 407 Ridge Crossing, Apt. A, husband of Karen Brown Gray, died Sunday, March 23, 2003 at the VA Medical Center in Augusta.
Born in Abbeville County, S.C., he was a son of Geno and Lois Rouse Gray. He was a veteran of the Gulf War, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C. Graduating from Abbeville High School in 1989, he was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and an industrial employee.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Tremanie W. Gray and a daughter, Lateisha C. Gray, both of the home; his parents of Abbeville; a sister, Tilaka S. Gray of Columbia, S.C.; maternal grandmother, Gertrude R. Finley of Abbeville; paternal grandparents, Eugene and Minnie Gray of Calhoun Falls.
The family is at his parents’ home, 1851 Secession Ave. Extension, Abbeville.
Services will be announced by Brown and Walker Funeral Home, Abbeville.

Sammie C. Jones
EVANSTON, Ill. — Sammie C. Jones, 90, widow of Bradley Jones, died Friday, March 21, 2003 at the home of a son.
Born in Abbeville, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Sam and Essie Burton. She was a graduate of Abbeville Training School, a member of Washington Street Presbyterian Church and a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Doris Black of Abbeville; three sons, Robert L. Jones of Evanston, Bradley Jones Jr. of Atlanta and Franklin Jones of Los Angeles; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home of her daughter, 203 Cedar Lane.
Services will be announced by Brown and Walker Funeral Home, Abbeville.

Frank G. Keller
Frank G. Keller, 89, formerly of 511 Markham Road, Bradley, widower of Lillian Shoffner Keller, died Saturday, March 22, 2003 at Wesley Commons.
Born in Chicago, he was a son of the late Adele Swanson. He retired from the Army, serving during World War II and the Korean conflict and was a member of Bold Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Carey L. Keller of Manheim, Germany and four grandchildren.
A memorial service is 3 p.m. Thursday at Bold Springs Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Archie R. Evans and Chris Garrison.
Visitation is 2-3 Thursday at the church.
The family is at the home of a niece, Charlotte Blackwell, 120 Windsor Oaks Court, Greenwood.
Memorials may be made to Bold Springs Baptist Church, 1321 Reedy Creek Road, Bradley, SC 29819.

Florence Nickles
Florence Anderson Nickles, 62, of 1409 Woodlawn Road, wife of Junior Lee Nickles, died Sunday, March 23, 2003 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late Herbert R. and Lillie Murphy Anderson.
She was a graduate of Greenwood High School and Anderson Junior College (now Anderson College) and retired in 1996 from the Greenwood County Library. She was a member of Tranquil United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two sons, Thomas Nickles and Scott Nickles, both of Greenwood; a brother, Herbert Anderson Jr. of McCormick; two granddaughters.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Blyth Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. James Patterson.
Burial is in Tranquil United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Keith Anderson, Kenny Anderson, Chuck Cape, James Hughes, Rick Phillips and Timmy Norman.
Visitation is 7-8 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of her son Scott Nickles, 105 Austin Drive in Country Meadows.

Jake Ritter
BRADLEY — Matthew Jake Ritter, 21, of 728 Rushville Road, died Monday, March 24, 2003 in Royston, Ga.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of Jack B. Ritter Jr. and Teresa Ann Prather McKellar. He was employed by W9Y Construction in Bradley and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his father of Simpsonville; his mother of Piedmont; two brothers, Anthony Jason Ritter of Greenwood and Kevin Josh Ritter of Simpsonville; and maternal grandfather, Alfred David Prather of Charlotte, N.C.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Billy Cole. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Eric Yingling, Jason Harrison, Butterball Wakefield, Rick Buckner, Jason Sheppard and Kenneth Boyd.
Visitation is 7-9 Wednesday at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of an aunt, Wanda Prather, 118 Perch St., Greenwood.

Annie Ola Taylor
Annie Ola Taylor, 90, died Friday, March 21, 2003 at NHC Healthcare in Greenwood.
Born in Cokesbury, she was the daughter of the late Azalee and James “Jim” Young of Greenwood.
She was a graduate of Brewer Normal and Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Fla. She began her teaching career at Sterling High School in Greenville and retired from Greenwood School District #50 after 33 years of service teaching at North Hodges and West Hodges Elementary Schools. She received many honors as a 4-H Club leader.
She was a devoted and supportive member of Weston Chapel A.M.E. Church before her health failed, serving on the Steward and Stewardess Boards, Willing Workers, Missionary Society and secretary.
She was a member of the Charmelette Club and Yellow Jasmine Garden Club.
She left us to cherish her memories a son, Chester “Joey” Taylor III, of Greenwood; a daughter, Sandra Ann Taylor of Forest Park, Ill.; a brother and sister-in-law, James E. “Jim” and Geneva Holmes of Cokesbury; an aunt, Ruby Holmes of Cokesbury; three grandchildren, James Gregory Taylor of Stone Mountain, GA; Sherron Taylor Carter of Douglasville, GA and Keith Jones of Charlotte, NC; two great-grandchildren, Jordan Ashley Carter and Jalen Belton; a niece, Patricia Holmes Smith of Jacksonville, FL; numerous cousins, relatives and devoted friends.
Graveside services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Evening Star Memorial Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Willie Neal Norman Jr.
Visitation is 6-7 p.m. Tuesday at Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc. Memorials may be made to the Weston Chapel A.M.E. Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 671, Greenwood, SC 29648.

Services for Ethel Crenshaw Thomas, of 1503 Deadfall Road, are 1 p.m. Thursday at Mount Olive Baptist Church, Ninety Six, conducted by the Rev. H.T. Ligon. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are deacons of the church.
Flower bearers are church deaconesses.
Visitation is 7-8 Wednesday at Robinson & Son Mortuary.
The family is at the home of Mrs. Hester (Pauline) Scott, 219 Manning Road.

William Wright Sr.
ABBEVILLE — William Robert Wright Sr., 74, of 5 Wright Lane, husband of Mary Tiller Wright, died Monday, March 24, 2003 at his home.
Born in Cleveland County, N.C., he was a son of the late Edward Lee and Mozelle Eaker Wright. He retired from textiles as a supervisor.
Survivors include his wife of Abbeville; a son, William Robert Wright Jr. of Abbeville; two daughters, Diane Wright Hand and Carolyn Wright Sink, both of Abbeville; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
No services are planned.

Hazel A.B. Campbell
CALHOUN FALLS — Hazel A. Boggs Campbell, 89, widow of Frank Campbell, died Saturday, April 5, 2003 at National Health Care Center in Greenwood.
A native of Clarke County, Ga., she was a daughter of the late James Quillan and Pearly Mae Little Boggs. She was a homemaker and a member of the Calhoun Falls Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include a son, Ralph Campbell of Calhoun Falls; a sister, Rachel Hilley of Calhoun Falls; two brothers, James A. “Buddy” Boggs of Charlotte, N.C. and the Rev. Ansel Boggs of Anderson; one grandson and two great-grandsons.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Calhoun Falls Funeral Home conducted by the Revs. J.C. Sorrow and Randy Coggins.
Burial is in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Abbeville.
Visitation is 10-11 Tuesday at Calhoun Falls Funeral Home.

Mat Coleman Sr.
SALUDA — Mat Abney Coleman Sr., 68, of 116 Boland Circle, died Saturday, April 5, 2003 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Saluda County, he was a son of the late Albert Jackson and Dell Lott Coleman. He was a former owner of Coleman Distributing and formerly served in the S.C. National Guard. He was a member of Chestnut Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Salter Coleman; four sons, Mat A. Coleman Jr. and Jack C. Coleman of Saluda, David E. Coleman of Fort Mill and Mark R. Coleman of Raleigh, N.C.; and four grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Chestnut Hill Baptist Church conducted by the Revs. Joseph Turner and Dennis Campbell.
Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 6-8 tonight at Ramey Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Chestnut Hill Baptist Church, c/o William Shuler, 674 Highway 56, Chappells, S.C. 29037.

Frankie Culbertson
WARE SHOALS — Frankie Harris Culbertson, 69, of 37 Smith St., widow of Lewis L. “Pete” Culbertson Sr., died Sunday, April 6, 2003 at her home.
Born in Donalds, she was a daughter of the late William Adger and Bessie Culbertson Harris. She retired from Riegel Textile Corp. and West End Drugs and was a member of Ware Shoals First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Lockee and Joey Culbertson of Ware Shoals; a brother, John Harris of Honea Path; two sisters, Elsie Mattison of Donalds and Mary Bagwell of Abbeville; and two grandchildren.
Graveside services are 3 p.m. Monday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens conducted by the Revs. Wayne Wicker and Leon Jones. Visitation follows the service at the cemetery.
Parker-White Funeral Home is in charge.
