Ellen G. Leopard
Ellen Goodman Leopard, 85, formerly of 1217 Wilson Bridge Road, widow of James E. Leopard, died Saturday, April 5, 2003 at National Health Care Center in Greenwood.
Born in Cross Hill, she was a daughter of the late John Calvin and Fannie Mae Jones Goodman. She was a housewife and a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Ninety Six.
Survivors include a sister, Frances Jamison of Greenwood.
Graveside services are 4 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Ben Herlong.
Visitation is 7-9 tonight at Harley Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of her niece, Barbara Brock, 204 Chatham Drive, Greenwood.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 66, Ninety Six, S.C. 29666.

Sara Oxner
CALHOUN FALLS — Sara Frances McBride Oxner, 92, widow of Hugh Oxner, died Sunday, April 6, 2003 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home in Greenwood.
A native of Mount Carmel, she was a daughter of the late William Robert and Sally Ann Cowan McBride. She was a retired dietician for the Cherokee County School System and a member of the Calhoun Falls United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a cousin, Elizabeth and Albert Gambrell Jr. of Greenwood and several nieces and nephews.
Services are 3 p.m. Tuesday at Calhoun Falls Funeral Home.
Burial is in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
Visitation is 2-3 Tuesday at Calhoun Falls Funeral Home.

Arthur Childress
WARE SHOALS — Frank Arthur Childress, 85, widower of Eleanor Knight Childress, died Monday, April 7, 2003 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood.
A native of Laurens County, he was a son of the late Ben Tilman and Maggie Higgins Childress. He was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church and retired from Riegel Textile Corp. He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of the DAV.
Survivors include a son, Frank Childress of Ware Shoals; two daughters, Janice C. Webb of Ware Shoals and Gail C. Barton of Greenwood; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Harmony United Methodist Church, conducted by the Revs. Charlie Summey and Chris Stansell. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are Chris Webb, Doyle Webb, Jim Grizzle, Mark Chandler, George Estes and Billy Childress.
Visitation is 12-1 Wednesday at the church.
The family is at the home of Janice Webb, 18542 Highway 25 N.

Annie Ruth Graham
SALUDA — Services for Annie Ruth Lorick Graham are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lockhart Baptist Church, conducted by Elder Kenneth Lorick, assisted by the Revs. Herman Jenkins and Henry F. Williams and Minister Brenda Abney. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are grandsons and nephews.
Flower bearers are granddaughter and nieces.
The family is at 1117 Graham Road.

Margaret G. Grant
CROSS HILL — Margaret G. Grant, 84, widow of Deacon John Henry Grant, of 442 John Grant St., died Sunday, April 6, 2003 at her home.
Born in Laurens County, she was a daughter of the late Henry A. Sr. and Maggie Ligon Grant. She was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Robert Grant of Greenwood, Willie J. Grant, Melvin Grant and Milton Grant, all of Cross Hill; three daughters, Virginia Grant Kinard and Carolyn Grant Jackson, both of Cross Hill and Emma Jean Grant of the home; two brothers, John Morgan Grant of Cross Hill and William “Zack” Grant of Philadelphia; 20 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Burial is in St. John Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family is at the home.

Essie L. Starks Kelch
GREENVILLE — Services for Essie L. Starks Kelch, of 420 Potomac Ave., are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cokesbury Baptist Church, with the Rev. J.L. Robinson presiding, Dr. Amos O. Harling officiating, the Rev. Clifton Harris Jr. assisting. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in Evening Star Memorial Gardens, Greenwood.
Pallbearers are Darryl Anderson, Weldon E. Cloud, Alexander Starks Jr., Rico Starks, Jimmythea Starks and Christopher Posley.
Flower bearers are Berniece Crosby, Betty Earle, Lola Norris, Lonnie Rosemond and Birdie Williams.
The family is at the home of Weldon and Christine Cloud Jr., 4714 Cokesbury Road.
Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home, Greenwood, is in charge.

Chester King
DUE WEST — Chester Allen King, 85, formerly of 9 Washington St., husband of Margaret McNeill King, died Sunday, April 6, 2003 at Carlisle Nursing Center.
Born in Due West, he was a son of the late Alonzo and Hattie Robertson King. He graduated from Erskine College with a major in English and a minor in violin. A member and deacon of Due West A.R.P. Church, he operated a dairy farm before serving with the County Tax Equalization Office.
He became an English teacher and retired as attendance supervisor with Abbeville School District. Survivors include his wife of Due West; a son, Chester Robertson King of Due West and three granddaughters.
Graveside services are 11 a.m. today at Due West A.R.P. Church Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Calvin Draffin.
Visitation is 10-11 today in the church social hall.
The family is at the home of his son, Chester R. King.
Memorials may be made to The Due West Retirement Center or to Due West A.R.P. Church, 112 N. Main St., Due West, SC 29639.

Ross P. McCaslan
CALHOUN FALLS — Ross Patrick McCaslan, 18, of 310 Burton Drive, died Monday, April 7, 2003 from injuries received in an auto accident.
A native of Greenwood, he was a student at Piedmont Tech in the computer science department and an employee of Bi-Lo Store in Abbeville. He was a 2002 graduate of Calhoun Falls High School.
Survivors include his parents, Roy Patrick and Rochelle Carroll McCaslan of the home; two brothers, Grant Edward McCaslan of Greenwood and Max Franklin McCaslan of the home; maternal grandparents, Donnie Ray and Dora Carroll Sr. of Elberton, Ga.
Services are 4 p.m. Wednesday at Calhoun Falls Pentecostal Holiness Church, conducted by Dr. Thomas Batts and Tim Richey. Burial is in Latimer Cemetery.
The body is at the funeral home until 9 tonight.
Visitation is 2-4 Wednesday at the church.

Elizabeth Mitchell
DUE WEST — Elizabeth Hay Mitchell, of Wadmalaw Island and Due West, widow of F. Marion Mitchell Jr., died Friday, April 4, 2003 at Carlisle Nursing Center.
A daughter of the late Lewis H. and Edith Beckett Hay, she graduated from Rock Hill High School and attended Winthrop College. She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, Charleston, where she was a Sunday School teacher. She started the weekday kindergarten program at Second Presbyterian Church and at Johns Island Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two sons, Lewis Mitchell of Wilmington, Del., and Marion Mitchell of Chesterfield, Mo.; two daughters, Edith Brawley of Due West and Elizabeth Neil of Decatur, Ga.; a sister, Inez James of Greer; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Edisto Island Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. Lewis S. Hay. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Second Presbyterian Church, Meeting and Charlotte streets, Charleston.

Raymond Perkins
HODGES — Raymond Perkins, 73, husband of Eliza Bell Richardson Perkins, died Sunday, April 6, 2003 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood.
Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late Charles Junior Perkins and Nola Lomax Perkins.
He was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church and retired from Long Star Rock Quarry, Coronaca. Survivors include his wife of the home; four sons, Raymond Perkins of Greenwood, William Perkins of Chesapeake, Va., James Henry Perkins of Hodges and Ronald Perkins of Norfolk, Va.; a daughter, Deborah Perkins of the home; two brothers, Thomas Lee Perkins of Hodges and James Henry Perkins of Baltimore; two sisters, Ethel T. Quarles of Hodges and Dorothy Benjamin of Washington , D.C.; 11 grandchildren, two reared in the home, Raymond Bernard Wideman and Jarvis Perkins; 13 great-grandchildren.
The family is at 122 Rough Road, Cokesbury Community.
Services will be announced by Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home, Greenwood.

Jack Lewis Turner
Jack Lewis Turner, 74, of 1608 Evans Pond Road, died Friday, April 4, 2003 at Self Regional Medical Center.
A son of the late Willie and Lizzie Fuller Turner, he was a member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church, Waterloo.
Survivors include a son, Jack Lewis Turner Jr. of New York; three daughters, Rachel Stoddard of Fountain Inn, Gloria Dean Turner and Julia Turner, both of New York; a sister, Mary Smith of Greenwood; eight grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Cross Hill, conducted by Bishop Emanuel Spearman, pastor. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in Laurel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Waterloo.
The family is at the home of a niece, Betty Simpson, 1608 Evans Pond Road.

Ruby M. Eakin
Ruby McCombs Eakin, 96, of 1117 Chinquapin Road, widow of L. Carroll Eakin, died Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Ada Hinton McCombs. She was a member of Tranquil United Methodist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Frances Harmon of Marion, N.C., Mrs. Doris Pickens and Mrs. Ralph (Marie) Wilson, both of Greenwood and Mrs. Fred (Grace) Butler of Ninety Six; three sons, Edgar Eakin, Fred Eakin and Clifton Eakin, all of Greenwood; a sister, Mrs. Tom (Helen) Darragh of Greenwood; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Edgewood Cemetery, conducted by the Revs. James Patterson and Joseph L. Curtis.
Pallbearers are Tony Eakin, Gary Moore Jr., Daryl Dodgen, Gary Anthony, Ladelle Harmon, Gerald Sartain, Doug Gilmer and Robert Story.
Honorary escorts are the great-grandchildren.
Visitation is 7-9 tonight at Harley Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of her granddaughter Patricia Brewer, 104 Hulsey Drive.

Services for Willie James “Bonnie” Griffin Sr. are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Springfield Baptist Church, Laurens Highway, with the Rev. Andy Young, pastor, presiding and the Rev. Ulysses Parks officiating. Assisting are Minister Robert L. Harrison and the Rev. Kimberly Martin. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are Michael Barnes, Darrin Gilbert, Rudy Parks, Willie Spearman, Clinton Holloway and Edward Foster.
Flower bearers are Bobbie Jean Parks, Regina Williams, Martha Holmes, Lisa Coleman, Bridgett Wims, Gloria Tucker, Doris Sanders, Mary Helen Foster, Kasandra Mitchell and Michelle Allen.

LOWNDESVILLE — James B. Hodges, 74, died Thursday, April 17, 2003 at National Health Care in Anderson.
