John McCord
GREENWOOD — John Haddon “Red” McCord, 88, resident of 506 Heritage West Court, husband of Bobbie Anders McCord, died April 22, 2003 at National Health Care of Greenwood.
Born in Greenwood County, January 29, 1915, he was a son of the late A.A. and Lily Haddon McCord. After graduating from Greenwood High School, he earned a Business Administration degree from The Citadel in 1938. He was employed by Greenwood Mills until he was called into the military, serving in the 825th Tank Destroyer Battalion in Europe, the Battle of the Bulge and the Normandy Invasion. He retired from the Army Reserves with the rank of Major.
Mr. McCord was a life long member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon and was a member of the Brotherhood Sunday School Class. He received the Service to Mankind award from the Heritage Sertoma and High Noon Sertoma Clubs in 1998 and the South Carolina Outstanding Legionnaire in 1996 for his work in recycling newspapers for the American Legion. Mr. McCord was a Paul Harris Fellow and was inducted into the Rotary History Heritage International Fellowship Hall of Fame. He was also the recipient of CODGERS (Circle of Distinguished, Gentle, Enthusiastic RotarianS) of the Greenwood Rotary Club and the 1991 Rotary Club of Greenwood Founders Club Award.
He was twice married, first to the late Doris Charles McCord.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are a daughter, Mrs. Dewain (Virginia) Herring of Columbia; a son, John H. (Sandy) McCord, Jr. of Greenwood; three step-children, Mrs. Bob (Jamie A.) Gallagher of Bloomington, IL, Mrs. Michael (Rebecca A.) Crosby of Taylors and Robert (Missy) Anders of Knoxville, TN; a brother, Harold (Mary) McCord of Greenwood; five grandchildren, seven step grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. McCord was predeceased by a sister, Mrs. Henry (Grace M.) Hartzog and a step-son, John K. Anders.
Funeral services will be conducted 3PM Thursday at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. John Livingston and Rev. Robert “Bob” Piephoff officiating.
Burial with full military rites will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Joebie Adams, Gene Pinson, Jim W. Bradford, Hartley Hall, Scurry Charles, Kim Charles, Dan Hartzog and Gene Hartzog.
Honorary escort will be members of the American Legion Post #20 along with Roy A. Owen, Dr. John Harrison, John Wright, Henry R. Thayer, John Hastings, Ernest Pinson and Jack Scurry.
The body is at Blyth Funeral Home and will be placed in the church at 2PM Thursday.
The family is at the residence on Heritage Court and at the home of John McCord, Jr., 112 Countryside Drive and will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 Wednesday evening.
The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorials be made to First Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 108 E. Cambridge Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646, The American Legion Post #20, 806 Calhoun Avenue, Greenwood, SC or to the Boy Scouts of America.

Edgar L. Morgan
LAURENS — Edgar Leroy Morgan, 53, of 111 Deep Drive, husband of Mary Beck Morgan, died Monday, April 21, 2003 at his home.
Born in Chester, he was a son of Mary Compton Morgan and the late Cecil B. Morgan. He was an employee of Wal-Mart Distribution and a member of Woodruff Church of God.
Survivors include his mother of Fountain Inn; his wife of the home; two sons, Cecil Ray Morgan of Fountain Inn and Jeff Morgan of Cross Hill; a daughter, Angela Gillian of Clinton; a sister, Delores Sue Madden of Fountain Inn; and four grandchildren.
Services are 3 p.m. Thursday at Kennedy Mortuary, conducted by the Revs. James Shealy and Buster Ball.
Burial is in Westview Memorial Park.
Visitation is 7-8:30 tonight at the mortuary.
The family is at his mother’s home, 589 Garrett St.

Hazel M. Rollinson
CALHOUN FALLS — Hazel McDuffie Rollinson, 54, of 501 Henry Ellison Ave., wife of Austin Rollinson, died Monday, April 21, 2003.
Born in Calhoun Falls, she was a daughter of the late Beatrice McDuffie. She was a graduate of J.S. Wright High School and an employee of Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two daughters, Tonya Stinson of Lithonia, Ga., and Ashley Rollinson of Detroit; four stepdaughters, Maggie Banks of Lincolnton, Ga., Betty Eubar of Abbeville, Patricia Rollinson and Freda Rollinson, both of Detroit; two stepsons, Greg Rollinson of Abbeville and Jerry Rollinson of Detroit; five sisters, Beatrice Elabdouni of Bedford Hills, N.Y., Dr. Shirley McDuffie of Colbert, Ga., Geraldine Gray and Earnestine Gray, both of Calhoun Falls and Eunice McNair of Abbeville; a brother, Jessie Gray Jr. of Calhoun Falls.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Abbeville and White Mortuary.

Wayne Rosinsky
WATERLOO — Master Chief Machinist’s Mate Wayne Donald “Ski” Rosinsky, 66, of 1244 Relax St., Anchored Acre, widower of Cedelia Parker Rosinsky, died Tuesday, April 22, 2003 at the home of a stepdaughter.
Born in Manitowoc County, Wis., he was a son of the late Eugene and Gertrude Rosinsky. He retired from Navy January 1, 1984, serving on six destroyers, two tankers and one tour of shore duty. He received two Navy Achievement Medals, the Combat Action Award, Navy “E” Award, five Navy Good Conduct Medals, Navy Expeditionary Medal, two National Defense Service Medals, Vietnam Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Citation and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was a member of Fleet Reserve Association Branch 234, Anderson, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 659, Manitowoc, Disabled American Veterans Branch 24, Two Rivers, Wis., and the USS James C. Owens DD 776 Association. He was also a member of American Legion Post 129, Jacksonville Beach, Fla., The Bluejacket Association, North Chicago, Ill., USS English DD 696 Association, USS Waldron DD 699 Association, USS Hank DD 702 Association, USS Aucilla AO-56 Association, North Dakota Bull Session, the Tin-Can Sailors, 1.0.0.B., NCOA, United States LST Association, National Chief Petty Officers Association and the US Navy Memorial Foundation. He worked several years for the McDermit Co. and was a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church.
Survivors include a brother, Andrew Rosinsky of Manitowoc; two sisters, Sharon Clement of Manitowoc and Dona August Stevens of Palm Shores, Fla.; two stepsons, Bennie R. McCary of Greenwood and Donnie W. McCary of Ninety Six; two stepdaughters, Pat Hoffman of Greenwood and Deborah E. Hatton of Charlotte, N.C.; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services are 3 p.m. Thursday at the Church on Fire Worship Center, Durst Avenue, conducted by the Rev. Jack King and grandsons, the Revs. R.C. Davenport and Jason McCary. The body will be placed in the church at 2. Burial with full military honors is in Elmwood Cemetery, Ninety Six.
Honorary escorts are the men of New Beginnings Baptist Church, members of VFW, TROA, grandchildren and Bill Ussery.
Visitation is 7-9 tonight at Harley Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of his stepdaughter Pat Hoffman, 1005 Jefferson St., Greenwood.

Margie Bladon
Margie Louise Bladon, 78, of 401 Saco Ave., wife of Thomas E. Bladon, died Monday, April 28, 2003 at Edgefield Health Care Center.
Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late C.O. and Janie Harbin Willis. She retired from Greenwood Mills, Plant No. 5, where she was a member of the Quarter Century Club. She was a member of West Side Baptist Church and the Ladies Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a son, Glen Bladon of Abbeville; a daughter, Linda Rushton of Orangeburg; and two grandchildren.
Services were 2 p.m. Wednesday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Hal Lane. Burial was in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Tim Bladon, Kenny Bladon, Eddie Brown, Richard Gilchrist, Junior Jackson and Lawrence Breazeale.
Visitation was 1-2 Wednesday at the funeral home.
The family is at the home.

Juanita B. Brown
WATERLOO — Juanita B. Brown, 76, of 1216 Relax Street, wife of Otis Brown, died Wednesday, April 30, 2003 at her home.
Born in Cowpens, she was a daughter of the late Clyde T. and Julia Blanton Mullinax. She was a member of New Beginning Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Otis K. Brown and Cecil Bill German.
Surviving is her husband of the home; a sister, Bonnie L. Robbins of Cowpens; three brothers, the Rev. Jack B. Mullinax, Charles E. Mullinax and Clyde L. Mullinax, all of Spartanburg; two grandchildren and a great grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack King officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 3 to 4 p.m.
The family is at the home.
It is respectfully requested that flowers be omitted and memorials made to New Beginning Baptist Church, Sirene Drive, Waterloo, SC 29384.

Charlie Coleman
SHELBY, N.C. — Charlie Coleman, 91, husband of Lillie Coleman, died Sunday, April 27, 2003 in Shelby.
Born in Blair, S.C., he was a son of the late Sallie and Amos Coleman. He was a member of Old Hope Station Baptist Church in Blair.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Woodrow Coleman of Charleston, S.C.; six daughters, Mary F. Coleman, Sallie C. Gills, Elizabeth C. Ross and Julie C. Brooks, all of Shelby, Earlene C. Lilley of Hobbsville and Eva C. Abbott of Amityville, N.Y.; a sister, Callie C. Nicholson of Ninety Six, S.C.; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Shoal Creek Baptist Church, Shelby. Burial is at old Hope Station Baptist Church Cemetery, Blair.
The family is at his sister’s home, Highway 25 South, Greenwood County.

Sammy DeLoach
SALUDA — Samuel Everett “Sammy” DeLoach, 66, of 216 Denny Highway, died Wednesday, April 30, 2003 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood.
Born in Saluda County, he was a son of the late John Lee and Ruby Alene Salters DeLoach. He was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict and retired from Lexington County.
Survivors include his wife, Jeannie R. DeLoach; two daughters, Alene DeLoach of Hilton Head Island and Tammy Burgess of Batesburg-Leesville; two sons, Teddy DeLoach and Thomas DeLoach, both of Batesburg; a sister, Mrs. Frank (Deanna) Hopkins of Saluda; and five grandchildren.
Services are 3 p.m. Friday at Ramey Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Norman Rogers. Burial is in Rose Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation is 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

George Huguley
George Murphy Huguley, 90, of 1110 Marshall Road, died Tuesday April 29, 2003. Born to William Gaines and Corinne Murphy Huguley on October 26, 1912 in West Point, GA. Mr. Huguley was the husband of Eulalia Edwards Huguley, his second wife, who survives him.
Mr. Huguley attended Atlanta schools and Georgia Tech before beginning his working years in the textile industry. He retired from his position as Plant Manager of Clinton Mills in the early 1970’s. He was active in the Clinton, SC Lions Club, the Laurens County School District #56 as a member of the Board of Trustees, and a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church in Clinton before joining Main Street United Methodist Church in Greenwood during his later years.
In addition to Mrs. Huguley, Mr. Huguley is survived by a sister, Corrine Huguley Campbell of Seneca; a son, G. Gil and wife, Marina Huguley of Methow, WA; a daughter, the Rev. Rebecca J. Huguley of Newberry; sons, Frank H. and wife, C. J. Edwards, Jr. of Raleigh, NC and Andrew C. Edwards of Williamsburg, VA. Mr. Huguley took particular delight in his surviving grandchildren, Frank Haden Edwards, III of New Albany, MS; Mrs. Lee Edwards Domville of Raleigh; Gabe J. Felkel of Greenville, SC; Meghan and Jessica Pike of Raleigh; West Point Cadet Ilya Ivanovich of Methow, WA; three great-grandsons, Camden, Hayes and Payton Domville, all of Raleigh.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Huguley is predeceased by his first wife, Jean Linn Huguley; his brother, W. Gaines Huguley and a sister, Camilla Huguley Stewart.
A memorial service will be held in the new chapel at Wesley Commons, Asbury Hall, 1110 Marshall Road in Greenwood at 3 p.m. Thursday with Rev. Carol Peppers-Wray and Rev. Rebecca J. Huguley officiating.
The family will receive friends at Wesley Commons from 2:30 to 3 Thursday afternoon.
The family gives thanks to God for the life of George Huguley and respectfully requests that memorials be made to Wesley Commons, 1110 Marshall Road, Greenwood, SC 29646 or to Main Street United Methodist Church, 211 N. Main Street, Greenwood, SC 29646.

Mary Jo Boothe Orme, 43, of 208 Logan Road, died Wednesday, April 30, 2003 at her home.
The family is at the home of her brother, Raymond Boothe, 103 Old Woodlawn Road, Greenwood.

Virdell Quarles
NEW YORK — Virdell Quarles, 75, died Sunday, April 27, 2003 in New York City.
Born in McCormick County, S.C., she was a daughter of the late R.L. and Hoover Quarles.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Addie) Poitier of Brooklyn; three brothers, Thomas Quarles and Wilbur Quarles, both of Greenwood, S.C., and Roosevelt Quarles of Troy, S.C.
Services are 8 p.m. Sunday at Francisco Funeral Home.

Aaron Wideman
Aaron Van “Rochie” Wideman, 42, of 202 Byrd St., Apt. 7, died Wednesday, April 30, 2003 at his home.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was a son of Raymond Wideman and the late Gladys Black Wideman. He was a member of Second Mount Moriah Baptist Church and a 1980 graduate of Greenwood High School. He attended Piedmont Tech and was employed as a cook.
Survivors include his father of Queens, N.Y.; three sisters, Renee Charolyn Wideman of the home, Lisa Wideman of Queens and Simone Wideman of Virginia; and his foster father, the Rev. Emanuel Spearman of Greenwood.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home.
