WARE SHOALS — Grace Tinsley Ashley, 84, died Thursday, May 1, 2003 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late Marion Frank and Leila Shirley Tinsley.
She was a member of Ware Shoals First Baptist Church and retired from Riegel Textile Corp.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Jean Brock of Honea Path and Leila Elizabeth Cobb of Melbourne, Fla.; a brother, Clarence B. Tinsley of Honea Path; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at Parker-White Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Leon Jones. Burial is in Hodges Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Chuck Cobb, Kevin Eskew, Lance Lowe, Ricky Eskew, Rodney Lowe and Ricky Cobb.
Visitation is 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at 83 Brock Circle, Honea Path.
Memorials may be made to Ware Shoals First Baptist Church, Box 499, Ware Shoals, SC 29692.

Ruth V. Babb
WARE SHOALS — Ruth Vaughn Babb, of 574 Vaughn Road, widow of Eric B. Babb, died Friday, May 2, 2003 at her home.
A native of Laurens County, she was a daughter of the late John L. and Lena Kelley Vaughn. She was a member of Columbia Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Joe E. Babb of Ware Shoals and Steven V. Babb of Clinton; a daughter, Sylvia B. Rowland of Waterloo; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services are 2 p.m. Sunday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Revs. Robert Emory and Lamar Babb.
Pallbearers are Michael Wells, Chris Roland, Dennis Babb, John Lindley, Jody Gault and Keith Smith.
Visitation is 7-9 tonight at Parker-White Funeral Home.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646.

Lisa Beatty
DUE WEST — Elizabeth “Lisa” Adams Beatty, 67, of 8 Brannon Circle, widow of John Beatty, died Friday, May 2, 2003 at Anderson Area Medical Center.
Born in Billings, Mont., she was a daughter of the late Carl Frederick and Mary O’Malley Bell.
She was a retired social worker, a homemaker and a Navy veteran of the Korean conflict. She was a member of Due West Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, K.C. Memory of Belton, John Beatty Jr. of Hawaii and Tory Ciraco of Hollywood, Fla., and five grandchildren.
Graveside services are 2 p.m. today at Due West Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation is after the services.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to Due West Baptist Church, 218 S. Main St., Due West, SC 29639.

Martha Kramer
CHAPPELLS — Martha Gibson Kramer, 91, of Highway 39, widow of Milton Kramer, died Thursday, May 1, 2003 at Wesley Commons in Greenwood.
Born in Edgefield County, she was a daughter of the late William Lee and Maggie Eva Powell Gibson. She graduated from Edgefield High School and Winthrop College and received a master’s degree from Columbia University, New York. She retired from public school teaching in South Carolina and North Carolina after 40 years and was a member of Chappells Baptist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Daisy G. Watkins of Chappells. Graveside services are 3:30 p.m.
Sunday in Chappells Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Carroll Andrews.
Visitation is 2:30-3:30 Sunday in the church social hall.
The family is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Watkins, 94 Watkins Circle, Chappells.
Memorials may be made to Chappells Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 3018 Scurry Island Road, Chappells, SC 29037 or a charity of one’s choice.

Joan McDonald
Joan Franklin McDonald, 68, of 204 Curtis St., wife of Robert O. “Bobby” McDonald, died Thursday, May 1, 2003 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Newberry County, she was a daughter of the late John H. “Doodie” and Leona Warren Franklin. She retired from Greenwood Mills, Sloan Plant. A member of Lowell Street United Methodist Church and the Cheerful Workers Sunday School Class, she was also a member of the Hannah Circle and Mother’s Club No. 1.
Survivors include her husband of the home and a niece reared in the home, Deanna Timms of Atlanta.
Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at Blyth Funeral Home, conducted by the Revs. Bob Allen and David Templeton. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Ed Davis, Jody Chaney, Robin Scott, Horace Files, James Ballard, Steve McDonald, Stuart McDonald and Olin Turner.
Honorary escorts are members of the Cheerful Workers Sunday School Class and the Men’s Bible Class of Lowell Street United Methodist Church.
Visitation is 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at the home.

Ivy Logan Milligan
MANNING — Ivy Logan Milligan of the Methodist Oaks in Orangeburg, 87, wife of the Rev. William P. Milligan, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2003, in Orangeburg Regional Medical Center.
Born April 29, 1916, in Laurelvale, Northern Ireland, she was a daughter of the late William and Nora Maginnis Logan. She and her husband served United Methodist Churches in Olar, Greenwood, Graniteville, Manning and Andrews, South Carolina. Prior to moving to the Methodist Oaks, Reverend and Mrs. Milligan spent their retirement years in Manning, where she was a member of Manning United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her loving husband of sixty-five years, the Rev. William Prestley (Billy) Milligan; two sons, William Lloyd Milligan of Isle of Palms and Davis Howard Milligan and wife, Laura Morris Milligan, of Greenville; four grandchildren, Kerry Milligan Welti and her spouse, Erin Theodore Welti, of Columbia, Michael David Milligan of Columbia, Erin Milligan Harmon and her spouse, Neil Sterling Harmon, of Mount Pleasant, and William Lloyd Milligan, II of Isle of Palms; a brother, Kenneth Logan of Northern Ireland; two sisters, Phyllis Baird and Dora Logan of Northern Ireland.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Phyllis Gwendolynne Milligan and a son, William Prestley Milligan, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday in Manning United Methodist Church. Rev. Jerry Watson and Rev. Debra Quilling will officiate. Burial will follow in Clarendon Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Manning United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 68, Manning, SC 29102.
Stephens Funeral Home of Manning is in charge of the arrangements.

Meredith Rhodes
Meredith Junior “Dick” Rhodes, 90, of Ashley House, widower of Caroline Arrington Rhodes, died Friday, May 2, 2003 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Visitation is 6-9 Sunday at Blyth Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of Steve and Linda Rhodes, 108 Sagewood Road.
Services will be announced by Blyth Funeral Home.

Dr. Fran Sherman
MAULDIN — Dr. Francine Kay “Fran” Sherman, 43, resident of 419 E. Butler Road, died May 2, 2003 at National Health Care in Greenwood.
Born in Gainesville, FL, May 13, 1959, she was a daughter of Gilbert Sherman and Maxine Klein Bolton. She was a graduate of South Plantation High School and Cleveland Institute of Music. She received her Doctorate Degree from the University of Oklahoma. She formerly taught at Lander University, Presbyterian College and more recently at Converse and Piedmont Technical College.
She was a member of the Temple of Israel in Greenville.
Surviving in addition to her mother of Greenwood and her father of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, are a brother, Roger Sherman of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; a niece, Kathleen Sherman and a nephew, Ronnie Gaffney, both of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
She was predeceased by her beloved step-father, J. W. “Bill” Bolton, Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted 5PM Sunday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with Rabbi James Cohn officiating.
Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Haskell Hartfield, Jason Hartfield, Jon Eric Hartfield, David Willey and Ronald Shore.
The family is at the home of her mother, Maxine Bolton, 114 St. Andrews Lane in Lodge Grounds and will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 5 Sunday afternoon.
The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorials made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 1741, Greenwood, SC 29648 or to the Temple of Israel Synagogue, 400 Spring Forest Road, Greenville, SC 29615.

Glenn Ferguson
ABBEVILLE — Glenn Ellis Ferguson, 17, of 286 Wilton Road, died Saturday, May 3, 2003 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of Billy and Miriam C. Ferguson. He was an 11th-grade student at Abbeville High School, a pitcher for the Abbeville High School baseball team and a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Survivors include his parents of the home; a brother, Byran Ferguson of Abbeville; maternal grandmother, Madeline Ellis and the late James “Bobby” Ellis; maternal grandfather, L.E. Chafin of Washington , Ga.; paternal grandmother and grandfather, Ruth and Maxie Ashley of Abbeville and the late George Ferguson; a great-grandmother, Mildred Ellis of Abbeville; a niece and a nephew.
Services are 4 p.m. Monday at Friendship Baptist Church conducted by the Revs. Wendell Rhodes and John Parks.
Burial is in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers are Chuck Ellis, Will Ferguson, Drew Davis, Stricker Sutherland, Jacob Thommasson and Ethan Ellis.
Honorary escorts are members of The Abbeville High School Baseball Team and Billy Dean Minor. Visitation is 5-7 tonight at the Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home.

D.C. Mashburn Sr.
CROSS HILL — Donald Carson “D.C.” Mashburn Sr., 92, of 654 Ridge Hill Road, died Friday, May 2, 2003 at Self Regional Medical Center.
A native of Spartanburg County and a long time resident of Laurens County, he was a son of the late William R. and Melinda Smith Mashburn, and was married to Lee Iler Holt Mashburn for 75 years. He retired as a loom fixer with Mills Mill No. 2, Woodruff, S.C. He was a member of Mills Mill Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and Teacher of the Young Men’s Sunday School Class and more recently attended First Baptist Church of Cross Hill. He was a Charter Member of Bethel Masonic Lodge No. 112 and served in the Home Guard during World War II.
Survivors include two sons, Eric Cecil Mashburn and Donald Carson Mashburn Jr.; two daughters, Mildred Patricia Robertson and Amy Cornelia Tompkins, all of Cross Hill; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel conducted by the Rev. James K. Hamilton.
Burial is in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is 1-1:45 Monday at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel.
J.F. Floyd Mortuary, Spartanburg, is in charge.
