Virginia Marshall
Virginia Ann Marshall, 34, of 217 Marion Avenue, wife of Moses Carter Jr., died Sunday, June 8, 2003 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of Solomon Holloway and Janie Wallace of Greenwood. She was a homemaker and attended public schools in Greenwood. She was of the Baptist faith and attended Macedonia Baptist Church.
Survivors include her parents; a stepfather, Emanuel Wallace of Greenwood; maternal grandparents, Willie B. and Janie Ruth Marshall of Bradley; paternal grandmother, Suzanne Holloway of Greenwood; two sons, Moses Marquette Marshall and Malik Tyrez Carter of the home; and a daughter, Jasmine Keirra Carter of the home.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc.

Miralyn Spivey
IRMO — A memorial service for Miralyn Bell Spivey, 66, will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Ashland United Methodist Church followed by visitation in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Ashland United Methodist Church or to the charity of your choice. Caughman-Harman Funeral Homes, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel is in charge.
Mrs. Spivey died Friday, June 6, 2003. Born July 9, 1936 in Greenwood, SC, she was the daughter of the late Robert Jefferson Bell, Sr. and Farrie Hart Bell. For forty-one years she was married to the Reverend David B. Spivey who predeceased her.
Surviving are her children and their spouses, Rene’ Spivey (Chance) Harris, Angela Spivey (David) Shaw, James David (Robbin) Spivey, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert J. Bell, Jr.

Betty Sullivan
ORANGE COUNTY, FLA. — Betty Jean Burke Sullivan, 70, died Saturday, June 7, 2003 at Doctors Lake National Health Care Center.
The family is at the home of her daughter Bonnie Craft, 1003 Ridge Road, Hodges, S.C.
Visitation is 7-9 Tuesday at Harley Funeral Home.
Services will be announced by Harley Funeral Home.

Vivian Webb
SALUDA, SC — Vivian Griffith Webb, of 1074 Greenwood Hwy., died Saturday, June 7, 2003 at Saluda Nursing Center.
Vivian was born in Emmanuel County, Georgia but lived most of her life in Saluda County. She was the daughter of the late George W. and Kate Boatright Griffith and was the widow of Earl Graham Webb. Mrs. Webb was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church.
Surviving are daughters, Kathryn Webb of Las Vegas, NV and Mary Ann and her husband, Dr. Claude Sartor (retired) of Spartanburg; sons, Charles and his wife, Rebecca Boland Webb of Ninety Six and Thomas J. “Rommie” and his wife, Sandra Boatwright Webb of Saluda; a sister, Kate Griffith Mullinax of Donalds; a brother, James and his wife, Ella Jane Griffith of Charlotte, NC; sisters-in-law, Mrs. William (Margaret) Griffith, Mrs. J.D. (Mildred Wilson) Griffith and Mrs. V.J. (Maude Green) Griffith; grandchildren, Claudine Sartor Ottinger, Charles “Chip” Griffith, Jr., Brad and Paul Webb, Brian and his wife, Lindsey Webb, Michael Webb and Amy Yu and great-grandchildren, Tyler and Ely Webb, Allie and Claudia Ottinger and Connor and Hudson Webb.
Mrs. Webb was preceded in death by two children, Eugene and Samuel Earl Webb; sisters, Lota Griffith Payne and husband Fred, Marjorie Griffith Werts and husband, Emerson, Elizabeth Shealy and husband, Fritz and Opal Griffith Pitt and brothers, Earl and wife, Thelma Gardner Griffith, Virgil J. and wife, Daisy Griffith, J.D. and wife, Azuba Domminick Griffith, William W. Griffith and Robert Hayne Griffith.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 10, 2003 at Good Hope Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:30 AM ‘til 1:30 PM at Good Hope Baptist Church Social Hall. At other times, the family will be at the home of a son, Thomas J. “Rommie” Webb, 1066 Greenwood Hwy. Memorials may be made to Good Hope Baptist Church or to Saluda Nursing Center.
Ramey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lucile Wiley
ABBEVILLE — Lucile Scott Wiley, 69, of 201 Abbeville Arms Apartments, died Saturday, June 7, 2003 at The Hospice House in Anderson, S.C.
She was a daughter of the late J.C. “Bud” and Sallie Mae Payton Scott. She was a retired food service worker with the Abbeville High School District No. 60 and a member of the Abbeville Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include a son, C. Everette Burdette of Tignall, Ga.; three daughters, Debra B. Nelson of Abbeville, Carol B. Wilson of Abbeville, Kathy B. Payne of Calhoun Falls; a brother, Leroy Scott of Iva; a sister, Shirley Giles of Abbeville; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services are 4 p.m. Monday at Abbeville Pentecostal Holiness Church conducted by the Rev. Ray Massey. Burial is in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation is 3-4 Monday at Abbeville Pentecostal Holiness Church.
The family is at the home of her daughter Kathy Payne, Rabbit Run Road, Calhoun Falls, SC.
Memorials may be made to The Hospice House, 1835 Rodgers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home is in charge.

Mildred Ashley
WARE SHOALS — Mildred Hill Ashley, 76, of 7 Ware St., widow of Joe Ashley Jr., died Monday, June 9, 2003 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Lowndesville, she was a daughter of the late Andrew Lee and Eula Mae Waters Hill. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Burdette of Laurens, Sherry Powell of Ware Shoals and Debbie Dennis of Simpsonville; a brother, Joda Hill of Burlington, N.C.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Robert Emory.
Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is 7-9 tonight at Parker-White Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of Ray and Sherry Powell, 10588 Highway 252.
Parker-White Funeral Home is in charge.

Gwendolyn Buzhardt
Gwendolyn Simmons “Gwen” Buzhardt, 60, resident of 157 Crescent Road, wife of William Harold Buzhardt, died June 9, 2003 at her home.
Born in Hartsville, SC, August 16, 1942, she was a daughter of Maxine Jones Simmons and the late Ralph Simmons. She was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and attended Rick’s College in Idaho. She was a homemaker and enjoyed riding with her Harley-Davidson friends. Mrs. Buzhardt was of the Mormon faith.
She was a devoted wife to her surviving husband of the home and was a proud mother of two daughters, Mrs. Lee (Kelly B.) Johnson and Mrs. Jeff (Melinda B.) Rodgers, both of Greenwood and grandmother of three grand-children, William Tyler Buzhardt, Morgan Taylor Fincher and Austin Dean Rodgers, all of Greenwood. Also surviving are her mother of Rock Hill and a sister, Brenda S. Ward of Villa Rica, GA.
Funeral services will be conducted 3PM Wednesday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ryan Eklund officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Sammy Fellows, Ronnie Polatty, Harold Haynes, John Timmerman, Furman Mauldin, Bo Wilson and Joe Fuller, Jr.
The family is at the home on Crescent Road in Kimbrook and will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 3 Wednesday after-noon.
Memorials may be made to the church of one’s choice.

SPRUCE PINE, N.C. — Jane Daniel Crum, 85, of 106 Sunshine Hill Road, formerly of Greenwood, widow of Herbert Malcolm Crum, died Sunday, June 8, 2003 at Mission Memorial Hospital in Asheville.
Services will be announced by Blyth Funeral Home, Greenwood, S.C.

Frances Mae Deale
McCORMICK — Frances Mae Dillashaw Deale, 65, died Monday, June 9, 2003 at McCormick Health Care.
Born in McCormick, she was a daughter of the late Claude and Alzena Rodgers Dillashaw. She was a homemaker and a member of Morning Side Baptist Church, Lincolnton, Ga.
Survivors include a son, George Anthony “Tony” Deale of Callison; a granddaughter reared in the home, Sabrina D. Broome of Gainesville, Ga.; a brother, Jerry Dillashaw of Greenwood; three sisters, Faye D. Smalley of Lincolnton, Paulette D. Scott of Edgefield and Cathy Shirley of Hodges.
Graveside services are 11 a.m. Wednesday in Overbrook Cemetery, conducted by the Revs. Ellis Moore and Barry Butler.
Visitation is 7-9 tonight at Strom Funeral Home.

Marlon ‘Wick’ Dorn
NINETY SIX — Marlon Lynn “Wick” Dorn, 33, of 7811 Highway 25 S., husband of Sally Hasting Dorn, died Saturday, June 7, 2003.
Born in Prosperity, he was a son of Louise Smallwood Dorn and the late Marvin Wilson Dorn. He was owner of Wick’s Snack Stand, a craftsman and a carpenter. He was a member of Emanuel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; his mother of Greenwood; three children, Jasmine Dorn, Walt Dorn and Stacey Dorn, all of the home; three sisters, Deborah Dorn and Katie Dorn Smith, both of Greenwood and Marvelle Catoe of North Augusta; six brothers, Marty Dorn, Julian Dorn, Jerry Dorn and Tony Hasting, all of Greenwood, Carol Dorn of Saluda and Franklin Dorn of Memphis, Tenn.
Services are 3 p.m. Wednesday at Sandridge Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Chuck McManus and Gary Thomas. The body will be placed in the church at 2. Burial is in the adjoining church cemetery.
Pallbearers are Danny Harvley, Stan Mitchell, Chris Dorn, Floyd Hasting, Bobby Lamb, Stan Medlock, Ken Medlock, David M. Winchester Jr. and Randy E. Blackman.
Visitation is 7-9 tonight at Harley Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of his brother Marty Dorn, 626 Mount Olive Road.

Peggy Hollingsworth
Margaret Hamrick “Peggy” Hollingsworth, 60, of 260 Devore Road, wife of Dr. John H. Hollingsworth, died Sunday, June 8, 2003 near Harleyville from injuries received in an automobile accident.
Born in Charleston, she was a daughter of Dr. John A. Hamrick and the late Margaret Kelly Hamrick. She graduated from First Baptist Church School in Charleston, attended Furman University and graduated from the College of Charleston. A member of the First Baptist Church, she was a member and teacher of the Shacharian Sunday School Class and a member of the Hagen Seymour Ladies Group of the church. She was also a former deacon and worked in the helping hands program of the church. Through her personal ministry, she touched the lives of many through thoughts and prayers, food and flowers. In 2000, she received the Greenwood Sertoma Club’s “Service to Mankind” Award. She was active in the United Ministries and was named Volunteer of the Year by the Bowers-Rodgers Home for Abused Children and the Greenwood Literacy Council.
Survivors include her husband of the home; her father and stepmother, Jane Ezell Hamrick of Charleston; two sons, Dr. John Hamrick Hollingsworth of Anderson and Diomede Franklin “Dime” Hollingsworth of Fountain Inn; two daughters, Sarah H. Dunagan of Boone, N.C., and Margaret Dana Marchant of Charleston; a brother, John Asa Hamrick Jr. of Charleston and 10 grandchildren.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Tony Hopkins, Dr. J. William Harris and the Rev. Kenneth Standley. The body will be placed in the church at 10.
Private family burial is in Edgewood Cemetery.
Pallbearers are S.L. “Buddy” Hamrick, Jack Hill, Richard Jackson, Bubba Fennell, Jerry Chastain, Dr. Jack Parham, Ken Anders and Dr. Bobby Miller.
Visitation is 5-7 tonight at Blyth Funeral Home.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 772 Grace St., Greenwood, SC 29649.

ABBEVILLE — Hilda Wiles McClain, 74, formerly of Abbeville, widow of Robert Evans McClain Jr., died Monday, June 9, 2003 at Ellenburg Nursing Center in Anderson.
