Services for Ruby Mae Turner Brown, of 605 Grier St., are 2 p.m. Saturday at Robinson & Son Mortuary, conducted by Larry Hackett. Burial is in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Pallbearers are nephews, and flower bearers are nieces.
Viewing is today at the mortuary.
Visitation is this evening at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Perferio (Tonya) Bowie, 116 Donegal Drive, Emerald Place.

Ida Lou Boyd Brunson
Ida Lou Boyd Brunson, of 508 Sumter St., formerly of Little Rock, Ark., died Friday, Sept. 12, 2003 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late Archie J. and Ida Anderson Boyd. She was a graduate of Brewer High School, Morris College and Atlanta University and taught school in South Carolina and Arkansas. She was a member of Morris Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Laura E. Boyd of the home and Addie B. Peterson of Baltimore.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Morris Chapel Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Ricky V. Syndab, assisted by the Revs. Jonathan Greene, Dora White, Clyde Cannon and Thessa Smith. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in Evening Star Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are nephews and friends of the family.
Flower bearers are members of Women Home Aide Society No. 55.
Honorary escorts are church deacons and trustees.
Visitation is 6-7 tonight at Parks Funeral Home.
The family is at the home.

Johnny Freeman
McCORMICK — Services for Johnny Freeman are 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Moriah Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Ivary Goodwin, Robert Haskell and Cuba Boggs. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are church officers.
Flower bearers are nieces.
The family is at the home, 504 Roosevelt St.

William C. Johnson
ORANGEBURG — William C. Johnson, 76, of 1568 Sifly Road N.E., husband of LaVerne Y. Johnson, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003 at the regional medical center.
Born in Clinton, he was a son of the late Rev. Elliott F. Johnson and Marian Leake Johnson. He graduated from South Carolina State University in 1948, did further study at the University of Michigan and served in the Army as a first lieutenant. Employed with the federal government, he retired in 1985 as deputy equal employment officer at the Military Sealift Command. He lived in Washington , D.C. for 34 years before moving to Orangeburg.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Dr. Lisa A. Johnson of Washington , D.C.; two brothers, retired Col. Elliott M. Johnson of Alexandria, Va., and Ludie C. Johnson of Bethesda, Md.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Bythewood Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Mark Robinson. Burial is in Belleville Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is 12-8 today at the funeral home.
Bythewood Funeral Home is in charge.

M. Louise Lanford
LAURENS — Margaret Louise Fennell Lanford, 95, widow of Walter Winn Lanford, died Thursday, September 18, 2003 at National Health Care.
Born in Waterloo, she was a daughter of the late Dr. John Lindsey and Allie Anderson Fennell. She was a retired school teacher having taught at Laurens Primary School for 29 years, was a graduate of Lander College Class of 1929, was a member of Laurens First United Methodist Church, was a member of Laurens Lander Club, and a member of the Dunklin Sullivan DAR.
She is survived by a son, Walter W. Lanford, Jr. and wife Huiet M. of Taylors; 2 grandchildren, Patty O'Cain and Greg Lanford; and 3 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Ann Lanford.
Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, September 20, 2003 at Waterloo Cemetery conducted by Rev. Gene Curry.
The family will be at the home of the son, #3 Titleist Court, Taylors, SC and will receive friends at The Kennedy Mortuary on Friday from 7:00 to 8:30 PM.

Wade H. Wright, Sr.
GREENWOOD — Wade Holloway Wright, Sr., 75, of 806 Wright Avenue, husband of Clara Taylor Wright, died Thursday, September 18, 2003 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late Bruce and Lucia Davis Wright. He retired as a district supervisor with Sprint and had served as a 3rd Class Petty Officer in the US Navy from 1946-1948 and as a Sergeant First Class in the US Army from 1949-1952 during the Korean Conflict, where he received a Purple Heart. He was a member of the D.A.V. and Mathews United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Fermelia Cowart, Modena DeYoung, Doris Laughlin and Mildred Wright; and brothers, Oral Wright, James Wright and Roland Wright.
Surviving is his wife of the home; four children, Mrs. Wendell (Pat) Hall, Wade H. Wright, Jr. and Mrs. Terry (Jeannie) Hughes, all of Greenwood and Bruce H. Wright of Hodges; a granddaughter raised in the home, Melissa Manley of Greenwood; grandchildren, Tanner and Taylor Hall, Alan and Allison Wright, Kristi H. Long, Mathew and Ashley Hughes, Jennifer, Keri, Kaleigh and Jonathan Wright; a step granddaughter, Shannon Hughes; great grandchildren, Nicholas and Ethan Long, Dylan Wright and Madison Rousey; step great grandchildren, Whitney, Jenna and Joseph Hughes; a sister, Florilla Powell of Greenwood; and two brothers, Dudley B. Wright of Greenwood and Etherl Wright of Columbia.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steven M. King, the Rev. John G. Hipp, the Rev. Lewis Sherard and the Rev. Reuel Westbrook officiating. Burial, with military rites, will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be in Tanner Hall, Alan Wright, Taylor Hall, Mathew Hughes, William Kinney and Mike Manley.
Honorary escort will be the retired employees of Sprint, along with Barry Fuller, Bob Poore, Ralph "Rip" Radcliff, Wilton Davis, Ralph Thomas, Emmanuel Timms, Mark Cook, Jimmy Sexton, Jim Decker, Dubie Brown, Brian Brown and Brooks Decker.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to the D.A.V. or to the charity of one's choice.

Rebecca Dawkins
GREENWOOD — Rebecca Dawkins, 89, of Wesley Commons in Greenwood, died Thursday, September 18, 2003 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood.
Miss Dawkins was born on December 19, 1913 in Newberry County, a daughter of the late Joe Frank and Lena Warner Dawkins. She was a private duty Registered Nurse and graduated from Columbia Hospital of Richland County. She was long time member of Washington Street United Methodist Church and also a member of Zion United Methodist Church. She was a member of the United Daughters of Confederacy.
Miss Dawkins is survived by two nieces, Jane Dawkins Hicklin of Charleston and Sue Dawkins Davis of Taylors; two nephews, Joe Walker Dawkins of Avon, CT and Patrick Warner Dawkins of Williamston and their families.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday at Asbury Hall at Wesley Commons in Greenwood by Chaplain Carol Peppers-Wray. Graveside services will be conducted at 5:00 P.M. Sunday in Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery in Prosperity by the Rev. Joe Blackwelder.
Memorials may be made to Zion United Methodist Church, 80 Zion Circle, Prosperity, SC 29127.

Mary DeLoache
SALUDA — Mary Susan DeLoache, 86, of DeLoache Rd., died Friday, September 19, 2003, at Wesley Commons in Greenwood.
Born in Saluda County, June 11, 1917, she was the daughter of the late James N. and Mary Lester DeLoache. She was a graduate of Saluda High School and attended Lander University and earned a BA degree from Furman University. She studied at the School of Social Work at the University of Chicago and earned a masters degree in social work from Tulane University.
Mary taught at Lutheran Good Hope, a one teacher school, between the two years at Lander College and completing her undergraduate degree at Furman University. She was employed with Saluda County Department of Social Services. After earning her Masters Degree in Social Work, she worked with Connie Maxwell Children's Home in Greenwood, retiring from the South Carolina Children's Bureau.
She was a lifelong member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Saluda where she was a Sunday School Teacher, member of the J.N. DeLoache Sunday School Class and of the Dawsey Unit of the United Methodist Church Women.
Surviving are a brother, James L. DeLoache of Carrboro, NC, a brother and sister-in-law, Paul M. and Lois K. DeLoache of Saluda; a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth D. and Fletcher Thompson of Spartanburg; and sisters, Sara D. (Mrs. Edward V.) Gibson of Sumter and Dora D. (Mrs. Sidney B.) Hare of Saluda; twelve nieces and nephews and twenty great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Kempson DeLoache.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 3:00 PM Saturday, September 20, 2003, with Rev. Nels Ledwell officiating. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall of the church immediately following the service.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 102 Butler Ave., Saluda, SC 29138.

Leon ‘Bill’ Dukes
SALUDA — Leon “Bill” Dukes, 52, of 1984 Greenwood Highway 178, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003 at his home.
Born in Saluda County, he was a son of James H. Dukes and Addie Mae Long. He was a self-employed auto mechanic and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his father of Washington , D.C.; his mother of Miami; two daughters, Leonia Dukes and Nikole Dukes, both of Saluda; a son, Nathaniel Dickens of Queens; a sister, Georgia Lee Smith of Saluda; four grandchildren.
Services are 3 p.m. Sunday at Mount Moses C.M.E. Church, conducted by Minister Annette Mathis. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are cousins.
Flower bearers are nieces.
The family is at the home.

Emily Horne
ABBEVILLE — Emily Williams Horne, 68, of 193 Highway 72 W., wife of Samuel Scurry Horne Sr., died Friday, Sept. 19, 2003 at her home.
Born in Edgefield County, she was a daughter of the late Tom Patterson and Ethel Griffis Williams. She was a homemaker and a member of Lebanon Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her husband of the home; five sons, Gary A. Horne, Samuel S. Horne Jr., Greg Horne, Adam Horne and Jeff Horne, all of Abbeville; three brothers, Bobby Williams of Greenwood, Patty Williams and Skip Williams, both of Dublin, Ga.; two sisters, Lois Hardin and Carrie Morse, both of Greenwood; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services are 4 p.m. today at Lebanon Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Revs. Arnold Johnson and Mark Horne. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 today at the church.
The family is at the home.

Gilbert Young McClain, of 104 Overbrook Road, husband of Julia H. McClain, died Friday, Sept. 19, 2003 at Self Regional Medical Center.

Judy P. Pearson
NINETY SIX — Judy Darlene Powers Pearson, 49, of 110 Draper St., died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2003 at her home.
Born in Laurens, she was a daughter of the late William and Essie Louise Workman Powers. She retired from the Greenwood Mills Information Center after 25 years of service and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. A sales representative for Avon for the past five years, she served in leadership and was a member of the Honor Society and the President’s Club. She was a volunteer for Crystal’s Vision Inc. and a member of the Self Regional Medical Center Cancer Support Group, Emerald City Singles, Needlers Quilt Club and Cambridge United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Angela Renee Pearson of the home; a son, D. Wayne Pearson of Hodges; two sisters, Mrs. Ronnie (Linda) Hallman and Mrs. Tommy (Jean) Balchin, both of Ninety Six; a brother, Mike Powers of Greenwood and a granddaughter.
Services are 4 p.m. Sunday at Cambridge United Methodist Church, conducted by the Revs. Joey McDonald and Steve Crittendon. Burial is in Elmwood Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 3.
Pallbearers are Russ Balchin, Ronnie Hallman, Kevin Berry, Johnny Rhodes, George McCarty and Kenny Reid.
Honorary escorts are members of the Upper Room Sunday School Class of the church, along with Sammy Fellows and Rodney McCleese.
Visitation is 7-9 tonight at Harley Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of her sister, Jean Balchin, 123 Duke St., Ninety Six.
