Anna Graydon
COLUMBIA — Anna Morris Graydon, 86, of Magnolia Manor, wife of Sterling Graydon Jr., died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003 at Magnolia Manor.
Born in Oakman, Ala., she was a daughter of the late S.M. and Daisy Lloyd Morris. She was a graduate of Auburn University and Katherine Gibbs Business College in New York City. She was of the Presbyterian faith.
Survivors include her husband of West Columbia; a daughter, Susanna G. Ardis of Columbia; a son, Lloyd Graydon of Santa Barbara, Calif.; three grandchildren.
Graveside services are 3 p.m. Wednesday in Magnolia Cemetery, Greenwood.
Visitation is 1:30-2:30 Wednesday at Blyth Funeral Home, Greenwood.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Blyth Funeral Home is in charge.

Vickie Inglehart
WARE SHOALS — Vickie Jo Ashley Inglehart, 47, of 23 Joe Oulla Road, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003.
Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of Joe Dean Ashley and Sudie Prince Cooper. She was a member of Winona Baptist Church.
Survivors include her father of Honea Path; her mother of Ware Shoals; a daughter, Krystal Nicole Inglehart of Ware Shoals; a son, Cory Townsend of Honea Path; three brothers, Gary Dean Ashley of Honea Path, Johnny Cooper of Ware Shoals and Chris Ashley of Anderson; and a sister, Irene Holloway of Honea Path.
Services are 3 p.m. Wednesday at Parker-White Funeral Home, conducted by the Revs. Leon Jones and Stanley Fuller. Burial is in Oakbrook Memorial Park, Greenwood.
Pallbearers are Daniel Prince, Tim Phillips, John Wayne Phillips, Wayne Ashley, Melvin Ashley, Billy Parks and Bryan Watson.
Visitation is 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at her mother’s home, 105 S. Greenwood Ave.
Parker-White Funeral Home is in charge.

Edna Hilley Kurtz
LAKELAND, Fla. — Edna Hilley I. Kurtz, 76, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003 at her home.
Born in Iva, S.C., she was formerly of Beckley, W.Va., and lived in Lakeland, Fla. for 40 years. She was a dance instructor.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Ballinger of Lakeland; a sister, Mary Mitchell of Darling Park; two brothers, Bill Hilley of Greenwood, S.C., and Allen Hilley of Seneca, S.C.; a grandson and three great-grandchildren.
Services are 3 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church.
Heath Funeral Home is in charge.

Charlie Quarles
Services for Charlie Quarles, of 206 Duncan Ave., are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Liberty Spring Baptist Church, Edgefield County, conducted by the Rev. Robert Dansby Jr., assisted by the Rev. Albert Bell. Burial is in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at noon.
Pallbearers are sons.
Flower bearers are granddaughters and nieces.
Visitation is 7-8 tonight at the home of a daughter, Patricia Anderson, White Dansby Road (Sands), McCormick.

James D. Simpkins
DONALDS — James Daniel “J.D.” Simpkins, 78, of 604 Greenville Church Road, widower of Julia Lomax Simpkins, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003.
Born in Edgefield County, he was a son of the late Bud and Annie Stevens Simpkins. He retired from Riegel Textiles, Ware Shoals, and was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Abbeville County, where he was a former trustee.
Survivors include a son, Willie Goodman of Baltimore; two daughters, Mrs. Jonathan (Annie) Simpkins Griffin of Donalds and Brenda Pruitt of Anderson; a brother, Bud Simpkins Jr. of Washington , D.C.; four sisters, Irene Nash of Glasboro, N.J., Gladys Perrin, Mary Rose and Sarah Calliham, all of Washington , D.C.; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. James Kay, assisted by the Rev. Willie Joe Frazier, pastor, the Rev. E.L. Cain and Bishop Emanuel Spearman. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in Mars Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Greenwood.
Pallbearers are Jimmy Freely, Sammie Freely, Marzell Davis, Tony Foster, Greg Hall and Abner Carvajal.
Flower bearers are members of the church Missionary Society.
Visitation is 7-9 Wednesday at the home of a granddaughter, Shavonda T. Griffin, 782 E. Butler Road, Apt. 304, Mauldin.

Tabitha A. Woodward
WABASH, Ind. — Tabitha Ann Woodward, 21, of 820 Berkley Drive, Steuben County, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003 in Steuben County.
Born in Wabash, she was a daughter of Jerry Lee Woodward and Jill Ann Cook Woodward. She was a 2000 graduate of Wabash High School, where she participated in band and cross country. She attended Vincennes University, where she participated in co-ed sports and was employed by Wal-Mart in Angola.
Survivors include her mother of Wabash; her father and stepmother, Tracy Petro Woodward of Greenwood, S.C.; a brother, Brandon Paul Woodward of USAF, Oklahoma City; a half sister Stacy; grandmother, Juanita M. Cook of Wabash; step-grandparents, John and Sharon Petro of LaFontaine and Geneva Woodward of Wabash.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at McDonald Funeral Home, Eddingfield Chapel, conducted by Pastor Billy Fields. Burial is in Memorial Lawns Cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Wells Fargo Bank, for the family of Tabitha Woodward, 841 Cass St., Wabash, IN 46992.

Tuts Arthur
SALUDA, SC — James Boyd “Tuts” Arthur, 73, of 115 Ebb Mack Rd., died Friday, October 3, 2003, at Saluda Nursing Center.
Born in Newberry County, he was the son of Cleora Timmerman Arthur and the late Clyde Stephen Arthur. Mr. Arthur was a retired Field Engineer with Suitt Construction and was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce Ann Griffith Arthur of Saluda; a granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Heather and Matt Nix of Saluda; one daughter-in-law, Terri Arthur of Saluda; two great-grandchildren, Bailey Madison Nix and Andrew Kent Nix; three brothers, George Ray Arthur of Greenville, Glenn P. Arthur of Greenwood and Douglas M. Arthur of Hartsville and his mother, Cleora T. Arthur of Saluda.
Mr. Arthur was preceded in death by a son, Robert Kent Arthur and two brothers, Clyde S. Arthur, Jr. and Bruce Arthur.
Funeral services will be 4:00 PM Sunday, October 5, 2003, at Shiloh United Methodist Church with Rev. Brett Waller and Rev. John P. Griffith officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 til 3:30 PM Sunday in the church Social Hall prior to the service.

Mildred Ballard
NINETY SIX — Lelia Mildred Ballard, 77, of 233 W. Main St., wife of John Edward Ballard, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003 at her home.
Born in Saluda, she was a daughter of the late Matt and Carrie Mae Riley Bradley. She retired from the Greenwood Mills Ninety Six Plant and was a member of Cambridge United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a son, Eddie Ballard of the home; and a brother, Beecham Bradley of Saluda.
Services are at 3 Sunday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Revs. Joey McDonald, Bobby Davis and Sam Smith. Burial is in Elmwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Neil Lomax, Shawn Ballard, Gary Yochem, Neil Ellison, Jimmy Ellison, Erick Wiseman, Mike Hall and Barry Hartman.
Visitation is 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646.

Corine Kinard
Corine Moon Kinard, 73, of 151 Highland Drive, widow of Rufus Rudolph Kinard Sr., died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003 at her home after extended illness.
Visitation is 10-11 Monday at Blyth Funeral Home.
The family is at the home in Idlewood.
Services will be announced by Blyth Funeral Home.

Carol Jean Dorn
Carol Jean Burden Dorn, 63, of 735 Ninety Six Hwy., Greenwood, wife of Hoyt Dorn, died Friday, October 3, 2003 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood, she was the daughter of the late Roland Calloway Burden and Beatrice Mathis Burden. She was a housewife and attended the Marshall Road Church of God. She was predeceased by a son Ronnie Ray Dorn.
Surviving in addition to her husband of the home is a daughter, Carol Beatrice “Be-Be” Dorn of Greenwood; two sons, Hoyt C. Dorn of Waterloo and Jesse Evans Dorn of Bradley; one sister Joyce Derrick of Elgin; one brother Pete Burden of Elgin; four grandchildren, Cameron, Randy, Kaysie, and Dillon Dorn.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Thomas Wooten and the Rev. J.C. Sorrow officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Tony Dorn, George Dorn Jr., John Allen Dorn, Bubba Dorn, Joe Clary and Matt Clary.
The body is at Harley Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society.

Mrs. Eleanor S. Hall
ANDERSON, SC — Mrs. Eleanor Seawright Hall, age 83 of 2304 Whitehall Avenue, Anderson, SC, widow of Wilbur A. Hall Sr., died Friday, October 03, 2003 at the Anderson Area Medical Center in Anderson.
Born in Anderson County, SC, she was a daughter of the late John R. and Maude Lee Burriss Seawright. She was a graduate of Iva High School and was a member of the Iva A.R.P. Church. She was a homemaker.
Surviviors include two sons, Wilbur A. Hall, Jr., of Greenwood and Dr. Robert A. Hall of Anderson; a daughter, Carol B. Hall of Anderson; daughter-in-law, Anne Hall of Greenwood; one sister, Amelia S. Dobbins of Iva; four grandchildren, Jennifer Evans, Lori Hall, Suzannah Locklair and Melanie Hall and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha S. Parr and Wilma S. Apple.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2003 at 2:30 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Anderson with Dr. L. Thomas Richie officiating. Visitation will be held at the graveside immediately following the service.
The family will be at the home of a son, Dr. Robert A. Hall, 1816 Lindale Road, Anderson, SC.
Memorials may be made to Thru the Bible Radio with Dr. J. Vernon McGee, P.O. Box 7100, Pasadena, California 91109 or to the charity of one’s choice.
The McDougald Funeral Home, Anderson is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Kay
ABBEVILLE — Dorothy Hall Kay, 82, of 501 Highway 20, wife of John Calhoun Kay, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003 at her home.
Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Luther W. and Clara Jordan Hall. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Winthrop College, was a homemaker and a member of Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church. She was an active member of the Long Canites and the Ladies Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a son, John Francis Luther Kay of Abbeville; two daughters, Vivian Kay Moore of Decatur, Ala. and Karen Kay Higgins of Anderson; and a brother, Frank Hall of Dacusville.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Revs. Jeffery Lang and Roy E. Beckham. Burial is in Long Cane Cemetery.
Visitation is 6-7 tonight at The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home.
The family is at the home.
