Verdell C. Partlow
HODGES — Verdell C. Partlow, 71, of 3607 Cokesbury Road, died Nov. 1, 2003 at her home.
Born in Callison, S.C., she was a daughter of the late John Henry Partlow and Ethel Robertson Partlow. She was a member of Flint Hill Missionary Baptist Church, the Order of Eastern Star and retired from Moore Business Forms.
Survivors include an adopted son, Leonard Partlow of Hodges; a daughter, Clarissa Partlow of Greenwood; three adopted daughters, Annie Posley of the home, Keba Posley of Hodges and Linda Lark of Greenwood; three bothers, Mack Partlow of Hodges, Anthony Partlow of the home and John H. Partlow of Silver Springs, Md.; two sisters, Roslyn Carroll of New York and Charlotte Partlow of Flushing, N.Y.; five grandchildren, one reared in the home, Lauren Jackson.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Percival-Tompkins Funeral Service Inc.

Adolph Ploehn
Adolph Marcus Carl Ploehn, 83, of Wesley Commons, husband of Doris Maxine Clammer Ploehn, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in La Porte, Ind., he was a son of the late Adolph Marcus Carl and Laura Kessler Ploehn. He was a graduate of Battle Creek Central High School, an Army Captain in WW II, a retired lieutenant from the Michigan State Police and worked as Personnel Director with the City of Detroit Water Department. He was a member of the Lutheran Church in Michigan, a member of The Rotary International Clubs, a Paul Harris Fellow and a member of the BPOE Lodge, Howell, Mich. Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Carol) Wesa of McCormick and Christina Kawala of Farmington Hills, Mich.; a son Steven Ploehn of Friendswood, Texas ; two brothers, LeRoy Ploehn of Battle Creek, Mich. and John Ploehn of Olathe, Kan.; three sisters, Mrs. Floyd (Katie) Langford of Marquette, Mich., Sally and Maxine Ploehn, both of Battle Creek, Mich.; five granddaughters and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be conducted at a later date to be announced at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Battle Creek, Mich.
Burial is in Fort Custer National Cemetery, Battle Creek, Mich.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Upstate US Chapter, 521 McDuffie St., Anderson, S.C. 29621.

Wallace G. Rawlings
Wallace Gilliam Rawlings, 70, of 104 Stratford Road, husband of Joan Boswell Rawlings, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003 at his home.
Born in Petersburg, Va., he was a son of the late Charlie Clarence and Doris Gilliam Rawlings. He was a graduate of Virginia Tech where he majored in chemical engineering and was a member of Phi Lambda Upsilon, Phi Kappa Phi and Tau Betta Pi fraternities. He was an Army veteran, retired from Warner-Lambert as Manager of Production and more recently employed by The Index-Journal. He served as chairman of the Greenwood County Heart Fund Association in 1970-71.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Gregory B. Rawlings of Greenwood and Jonathan D. Rawlings of Greer; three daughters, Mrs. Perrin A. (Sherri) Ross of Aiken, Mrs. Glenn T. (Terri) Hibberts of Andros Island, Bahamas, and Mrs. Robert A. (Doria) Cullom of Greenville; a brother, Charlie Clarence Rawlings of Petersburg, Va.; a sister, Doris Ann Beale of Waverly, Va. and seven grandchildren.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday in Oakbrook Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. Richard D. Shannonhouse.
Visitation is 2-4 today at the home in Druid Hills.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Services for Dean Smith are 3 p.m. today at Robinson-Walker Funeral Service, Ware Shoals. Burial is in Evening Star Memorial Gardens.
Viewing is today beginning at 11 a.m. at Robinson-Walker Funeral Service.
The family is at the home of his daughter, Julia Singleton, 104 Shurlington Lane, Hodges.

Nikki Willoughby
CALHOUN FALLS — Frances Nikkiann Willoughby, 22, of 721 Rice St., died Friday, Oct. 31, 2003.
Born in Abbeville, she was a daughter of Richard Carroll and Gloria Belle Yon Hilley. She was a member of the Calhoun Falls Church of God.
Survivors include her parents of Calhoun Falls; a daughter, Anika Belle Willoughby and a son, Richard Willoughby, both of Calhoun Falls; a brother, Joseph Eugene “Tater” Willoughby of Calhoun Falls; maternal grandfather, William G. Yon Sr. of Calhoun Falls and paternal grandmother, Geraldine Britt of Belton.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Calhoun Falls Church of God, conducted by the Revs. Ernest Sessions and Mike Ford. Burial is in Latimer Cemetery.
Visitation is 7-9 today at Calhoun Falls Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of her parents, 45 Cox Road, Calhoun Falls.

Mildred Burnett
NINETY SIX — Mildred Frasier Burnett, 80, of 418 South Cambridge Street, wife of Frank Lucian Burnett, died Monday, November 10, 2003 at her home.
Born in Oconee County, she was a daughter of the late Dennis S. and Lucille Kirby Frasier. She was a graduate of Seneca High School and the Roper Hospital School of Nursing in Charleston. She served during World War II as a nurse with the US Navy. She retired from the Ninety Six Postal Service and also retired from the NHC Healthcare of Greenwood. Mrs. Burnett was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Sara Wing of Concord, CA and a brother, James Frasier of Norfolk, VA.
Surviving is her husband of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Lena B. and Julian P. Bryan of Spartanburg; a son and daughter-in-law, Frank Steven and Sharron C. Burnett of Ninety Six; three sisters, Patricia Barrineau of Charleston, Margaret Faust of New Orleans, LA and Mervyn Juchartz of Ann Arbor, MI; two brothers, John Frasier of Charleston and Robert Frasier of Tallahassee, FL; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ben Herlong and the Rev. Eugene Holmes officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Allen, Ricky Hall, Richard Shealy, Ray Berry, Bobby Wells, Ben Milner, Temp Lamar and Bobby Stoudemire.
The family will receive friends in the church social hall on Wednesday from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
The family is at the home.

Ola Gonce
GREENWOOD — Ola Talbert Harvley Gonce, 88, resident of 909 Reynolds Avenue, widow of Lonnie T. Gonce, died November 10, 2003 at National Health Care Center.
Born in McCormick County July 22, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Lee and Minnie Finley Talbert. She was retired from Greenwood Mills, Ninety Six Plant. A member of Grendel Pentecostal Holiness Church, she was a former member of New Life Pentecostal Holiness church.
Mrs. Gonce was twice married, first to the late John Callie Harv ley.
Surviving are two daughters, Lois Harvley Godfrey and husband Samuel of Hodges and Jewell Harvley Porterfield and husband Darrell of Greenwood. A grandson, Chaplain Major Samuel Kenneth Godfrey and wife Karen of Leavenworth, KS, a granddaughter, Kelley Porterfield Hays and husband David, a great-grandson, Haden Alexander Hays all of Greenwood, a sister, Sarah Corley and husband Ray of Enoree. She was predeceased by four sisters; Millwee Hughes, Addie Lee Harvley, Frances Anderson and Sadie Shaw.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2pm Wednesday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard E. Porterfield, Chaplain Major Samuel Kenneth Godfrey and Dr. Phillip Morris officiating.
Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Wade Knight, Marvin Godfrey, Danny Butler, Roy Pinson, Edward Thompson and Tim Ellenberg.
Honorary escort will be the devoted care givers at National Health Care Center, Station 1 along with Bobby Gonce, Tommy Gonce, Lib Dukes, Naomi Scott, Frank Godfrey, Danny Haralson, Dot Ashley, Sharon Gonce, Rachel Gonce, Fred Harvley, Bob Harvley, Mike and Debbie Godfrey, Ann Morris, Martha Fleming, Patsy Knight, Dora Timms, Gladys Godfrey, Mike Carrouth, Curtis Chastain, Edna Chastain, Bernice Tollison, Frances Smith, Patsy Parker, Judy Cockrell, Margaret Lyerly, Jimmy and Darlene Davis, Dr. Russell Hall and Dr. John Holman.
The family is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Porterfield, 305 Oakwood Drive and will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 Tuesday evening.

Imogene L. Nalley
FORT MILL — Imogene L. Nalley, 71, of 1048 Kimbrell Road, wife of Jack Nalley, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003 at her home.
Born in Central, she was a daughter of the late Joel Thomas Ledford and Olga Evatt Ledford. She graduated from Greenwood High School and retired from Carolina Fabricators, Rock Hill. A member of First Baptist Church and the Pearl Smith Sunday School Class, she had served as president of the Woman’s Club of Fort Mill and of the PTA.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a son, Thom Nalley of Fort Mill; a daughter, Donna Burnam of Pompano Beach, Fla.; a brother, John William “J.W.” Ledford of Charleston; and a granddaughter.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Fort Mill, conducted by the Revs. Jeff Bedwell, Benny Wade and Ralph Riley. Burial is in Unity Cemetery.
Visitation is 6-8 tonight at the church, other times at the home.

Diane Satterwhite
BIRMINGHAM, AL — Sarah Diane Helton Todd Satterwhite, 59, of 613 87th Street South, Birmingham, AL, wife of Durwood R. “Dock” Satterwhite Jr., died Saturday, November 8, 2003.
Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late Horton G. “Hoyt” Helton and Estee Ivester Hall. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was twice married, first to the late Ernest Allen Todd and was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Todd and her brother, Gary Helton.
Surviving is her husband of the home; two sons, Steve Todd of Cross Hill and Randy Todd of Simpsonville; two daughters, Debra Boatwright and Lisa McFerrin, both of Greenwood; two stepchildren, Christy Boord of Clarksburg, WV and Kevin Satterwhite of Valdosta, GA; three sisters, Betty Mason of Anderson, Peggy Clark and Helen Brown, both of Greenwood; and 13 grandchildren.
Services will be at 12 noon on Wednesday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Ouzts and the Rev. Randall Messick officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Helton, Robert DeLoache, Ricky McFerrin, Joey Wilkie, Tommy Davis, Tommy Mooney, Randy Satterwhite and David Satterwhite.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
The family members are at the home of her sister, Helen Brown, 1202 Ninety Six Highway, Greenwood or at their respective homes.

Cindy W. Sidener
MODOC — Cynthia “Cindy” W. Sidener, 42, of Highway 23 West, wife of Michael “Mike” Sidener, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003 at Edgefield County Hospital.
A native of Greenwood, she was a daughter of Raymond “Paul” and Kathleen McCurry Williams. She was an emergency room nurse at Edgefield County Hospital and a member of Martinez Baptist Church, Georgia. A graduate of Piedmont Tech College Nursing Program, she was a member of Lamda Chi Nu Nursing Honor Society, former director of Edgefield County EMS and a committee member for Edgefield County Relay for Life.
Survivors include her husband of Modoc; parents of Greenwood; a son, Charlie Coffee of Augusta, Ga.; a stepson, Dallas Sidener of Augusta; a stepdaughter, Brooke Sidener of Augusta; a brother, Mike Williams of Saluda; two sisters, Kathy Coleman of Georgetown and Joyce Hopkins of Greenwood; three step-grandchildren.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Martinez Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Phill Winesett and Michael Brewer. Burial is 3 p.m. Wednesday in Greenwood Memorial Gardens, Greenwood.
Pallbearers are Michael Proctor, Glenn Proctor, B.J. Magaha, Damien Dill, Patrick Fay and Brian Barnes.
Visitation is 6-8 tonight at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of her sister Joyce Hopkins, Phoenix Road, Greenwood.

Addie Waters
LIBERTY — Addie Dorothy Chapman Waters, 82, of 209 Black Bottom Road, widow of Marvin Dillon Waters, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003 at Palmetto Health Baptist.
Born in Easley, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Carradine and Ophelia Pittman Chapman. She was a charter member of Ruhamah Baptist Church and had worked for Berkeley and Pickens county school districts.
Survivors include four sons, Charles Waters of Anderson, Dr. Harold Waters of the home, Steve Waters of Pendleton and Ricky Waters of Liberty; two sisters, Evelyn Bryson of Williamston and Grace Bray of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Pat Chapman of Spartanburg; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Liberty Mortuary, conducted by the Rev. Clark Ford. Burial is in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Visitation is 5-6:30 Wednesday at the mortuary.
The family is at the home of Steve Waters, 4142 Old Greenville Highway (Highway 88), Central.

Marcella Gilliam Bagwell
ABBEVILLE — Marcella Gilliam Bagwell, 75, of 129 Highland Terrace died Tuesday, November 11th at her residence. She was the widow of Charles “Red” Bagwell and the daughter of the late Grace Latimer and William Harris Gilliam. She was owner and operator of Commercial Printing from 1971 to 1998 and was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Bagwell are three sons, Charles Bagwell of Sterling, VA, Robert Bagwell of Washington , D.C., and Chuck Bagwell of Abbeville, five grandchildren, Stacy, Sean, Lisa, Andy, and Laura Bagwell, and one great-granddaughter, Valerie Bagwell.
Mrs. Bagwell was preceded in death by four sisters, Jeanette Thorpe, Eleanor Ragsdale, Alma Duncan, and Beatrice Dixon. The family will receive friends 7:00PM-9:00PM (TONIGHT) Thursday, November 13th at HARRIS FUNERAL HOME. Graveside Services will be 11:00AM Friday, November 14th in Greenwood Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Earl Hartley and Retired Rev. Jim Moss officiating.
