Peter Anderson “P.A.” Adams, 76, of 101 Stonehaven Drive, Apt. 6, Raintree Apartments, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004 at his home.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late David and Maybell Davis Adams. He attended Marshall Chapel Baptist Church. He was formerly married to Ollie Mae Fisher Adams of Greenwood.
Survivors include a stepson, Bernard Fisher of Greenwood; two brothers, the Rev. Dozie Adams of Anderson and Ozzie Sylvester Adams of Laurens; four sisters, Ramonia Adams Witt and Bessie Moore of Greenwood, Dorothy Griffin of Ninety Six and Alice Cantrell of Augusta, Ga.
The family is at the home of a sister, Ramonia Witt, 104 Bintage Road, Raintree Subdivision.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc.

Clarence Ashley
ANDERSON — Clarence Odell “Junior” Ashley Jr., 73, of 504 Corning St., husband of Juanita Seawright Ashley, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004 at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.
Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late Clarence Odell Ashley Sr. and Mary Richey Ashley. He was a retired paint contractor and a member of Faith Baptist Church in Anderson.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a stepdaughter, Sherry Stone of Donalds; two brothers, Bobby Ashley of Honea Path and Larry Ashley of Donalds; four sisters, Wilma Tumblin of Hickory Tavern, Joyce Cowan and Mary Fields, both of Honea Path and Dorothy Motar of Chester, Va.; two grandchildren.
Services are at 3 Saturday at Pruitt Funeral Home, conducted by the Revs. Jerry Mize and Carroll Plemmons. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is 1-3 Saturday at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of a brother, Bobby Ashley, 197 Bratcher Road, Honea Path.

Bonnie Estes
NINETY SIX — Bonnie Edwards Morris Estes, 96, of 303 State St., widow of James Estes, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004 at her home.
Born in Mitchell County, N.C., she was a daughter of the late John and Lillie Thomas Edwards. She retired from Greenwood Mills, where she was a member of the Quarter Century Club and was a member of Temple Baptist Church. She was twice married, first to the late Hollis Morris.
Survivors include two daughters, Katherine Leopard of Ninety Six and Barbara Pruitt of Tampa, Fla.; two sons, Ronnie Morris of Ninety Six and Jack Morris of Elloree; a stepson, Donald Estes of Mesa, Ariz.; 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Temple Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Charles F. Owens Jr., J.B. Abercrombie and G. Thomas Cartledge. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Burial is in Elmwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Tony Leopard, Mike Leopard, Ray Morris, Johnny Morris, Earl Morris, Jimmy Kelley, Larry Morris and Danny Morris.
Honorary escorts are members of the T.E.L. Sunday School Class of the church, along with Christine Cason, Janice Cason, Margaret Bryan, Charles Brown and Virginia Brock.
Visitation is 7-9 tonight at Harley Funeral Home.

Evelyn K. Gambrell
WARE SHOALS — Evelyn Eugenia Kay Gambrell, 80, of Highway 252, Donalds, widow of Harold P. Gambrell, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004 at Wesley Commons in Greenwood.
Born in Antreville, she was a daughter of the late Eugene and Hattie Speers Kay. She lived in Ware Shoals most of her life, where she was secretary of the Ware Shoals Cemetery Committee, a Girl Scout leader and a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ken (Brenda) Terrell of Marietta, Ga., and Ann Gambrell of Greenwood, Ind.; two sisters, Mrs. C.H. (Estelle K.) McMahan of Ware Shoals and Agnes K. Martin of Anderson; two granddaughters.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. Wayne Wicker. Burial is in Oakbrook Memorial Park, Greenwood.
Pallbearers are Marion McMahan, Michael McMahan, Martin Wells, Lew Bagwell, Keith McCoy and George Rush.
Visitation is 1-2 Saturday at the church.

Services for Lawson Hawkins III, of 886 Ashton Cove Terrace, Jacksonville, Fla., are 1 p.m. Saturday at Weston Chapel A.M.E. Church, conducted by the Rev. Willie N. Norman Jr., assisted by the Revs. Charles Sales and Tony Foster and Evangelist Patricia Martin. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Burial is in Evening Star Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are J.P. Gary, James Hawkins, Andrew Hawkins, Joe Sales, Christopher Hawkins and Fred Anderson.

WARE SHOALS — Robert Lee Maggert, 56, of 253 Lake Road, husband of Ella May Lowery Maggert, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Indiana, he was a son of the late Wilbur Ray and Elsie Mae Ross Maggert. He was a truck driver with Evans Equipment, a minister and a member of Light House Tabernacle.
Survivors include four daughters, Barbara Sue Maggert of Fort Wayne, Ind., Tina Marie M. Castator of Waterloo, Ind., Kandy Lee Maggert of Ware Shoals and Kathy Ann Maggert of Donalds; two sisters, Diane Martin and Linda Rasor, both of Fort Wayne; a brother, Mike Maggert of Larwill, Ind.; six grandsons.
Services are 4 p.m. Saturday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Leon Van Dyke. Burial is in Ware Shoals Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Carey Maggert, Scott Van Dyke, Jody Van Dyke, Dan Groff, James McDowell, Buddy McDowell, Chester Castator, Jimbo Van Dyke and grandsons.

Born in Aiken County, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Callie Mathis Meyer.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Leon (Debbie) Kennedy of Wagner; a son, Rickey Odom of Calhoun Falls; two brothers, Kenneth Meyers of McCormick and Royal Meyers of Langley; three daughters, Elder Farmer of Augusta, Ga., Lois White of Windsor and Sarah Wheaton of Graniteville; five grandchildren.
Graveside services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Salley Oakview Cemetery, Wagner.
Visitation is 6-9 tonight at Harris Funeral Home and 12:30-1:30 Saturday at Blizzard Funeral Home, Wagner.

Martha Jean Whitt Shirley, 79, of 217 Chipley Road, formerly of 107 Pineview Drive, widow of Edward Ostell Shirley, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004 at her home.
Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Cooley and Viola Dixon Whitt. She retired from Greenwood Mills, Sloan Plant and was a member of New Market Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Pat S. Riggins, with whom she made her home; three brothers, John C. Whitt, Joseph B. Whitt and Roy F. Whitt, all of Greenwood; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Buddy Wiles. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late James Clifton and Mary Etta Weeks. He retired from Nu-Way Convenience Stores and served in the Navy. He was a member of Marshall Road Church of God.
Survivors include three sons, James C. Weeks, Travis Weeks and Chris Weeks, all of Greenwood; three sisters, Ruth Clem of Jacksonville, Fla., Betty Blackstone and Lizzie Mae Dillashaw, both of Greenwood; a brother, Clyde Weeks of Anderson; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a friend of the home, Brenda Fuller.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Revs. B.R. Blackstone, Craig Hughes and Donald Rowell. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Ivan Paul Genevie
ABBEVILLE — Ivan Paul Genevie, 77, of Abbeville died Thursday, January 8, 2004 at the VA Medical Center in Augusta, GA. He was born in Cumberland, Maryland, to the late V. C. and Mary Poulain Genevie.
Mr. Genevie served in United States Army as a Lieutenant serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a resident of Dallas, Texas prior to moving to Abbeville for 40 years. Since his move to Abbeville Mr. Genevie has enjoyed spending time with family and working at the Abbeville Opera House.
Surviving Mr. Genevie is his son, Michael Genevie and his wife Kathy of Abbeville, a brother, Louis Genevie of Levittown, PA., two sisters, Betty Genevie of Tampa, FL., and Mary Jane Mariani of Akron, OH, one granddaughter, Meg Genevie, and two grandsons, Michael and Justin Eller.
The family will receive friends 1:00PM to 2:00PM Sunday, January 11, 2004 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow in the funeral home chapel at 2:00PM. Burial will be in Long Cane Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent in honor of Mr. Ivan Genevie to the Abbeville Opera House 100 Court Sq. Abbeville, SC 29620.

Clifford H. ‘Sparky’ Cantrell
NINETY SIX — Clifford Howard Cantrell, 89, of 225 Hollingsworth Road, widower of Retha Chandler Cantrell, died Saturday, January 10, 2004 at NHC Health Care Center.
Born in Jackson County, GA, he was a son of the late John Thomas and Ida Ruth West Cantrell. He was retired from Greenwood Mills, Adams Plant, where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club and was a security guard with Security Forces, Inc. He was a master tinkerer and was a member of Augusta Highway Baptist Church and the Men’s Sunday School Class.
Surviving is a daughter, Carol C. Rikard of the home; three grandchildren, William Moe “Grampy” McQuerns of Columbia, Beth McQuerns Cornay of Denham Springs, LA and Suzanne McQuerns Driver of Ninety Six; five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Augusta Highway Baptist Church with the Rev. Craig Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Joe Cantrell, Kevin S. Baldwin, Preston Cantrell, Ronald Porter, Nathan Allen, Jimmy Allen, Steve Allen and Larry Allen.
Honorary escort will be members of the Men’s Sunday School Class of Augusta Highway Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at Harley Funeral Home on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
