Willie L. McIntosh
DAYTON, Ohio — Willie L. McIntosh, 73, wife of James McIntosh, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004 at Miami Valley in Dayton.
Born in Greenwood County, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Obediah and Sally Dean Ligon. She was a graduate of Brewer High School and a member of Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of the home; three sons, James McIntosh of Greenville, S.C., Ellerbee Robertson and Lamanuel McIntosh of Dayton; two daughters, Betty Chamberlain and Jackie Mosley of Greenwood; a brother, James Ligon of Hodges; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Dayton.
H.H. Roberts Funeral Home is in charge.

James R. McKinney
PLUM BRANCH — James Robert McKinney, 81, of the White Town community, husband of Katherine White McKinney, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004 at McCormick Health Care.
Born in the White Town section of McCormick County, he was a son of that late William M. and Lillie Reynolds McKinney. He was the retired president of J.R. McKinney & Sons and a member and former deacon of Plum Branch Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Florence Cronin of Columbia; two sons, William C. “Billy” and Robert F. “Bobby,” both of Plum Branch; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a step-great-grandchild.
Graveside services are 1 p.m. Saturday in Plum Branch Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Mark McKinney, Jason McKinney, Dan Crawford, David Harper, Ryan Cronin and Neal White.
Honorary pallbearers are deacons of Plum Branch Baptist Church.
The family is at the home.

Johnny H. Smith
HODGES — Johnny H. Smith, 59, of 4303 Cokesbury Road, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004 at his home. The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc.

Francis ‘Gene’ Williams
NINETY SIX — Francis Eugene Williams, 69, of 108 Dogwood Drive, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004 at Edgefield County Hospital.
Born in New Virginia, Iowa, he was a son of the late Donald O. and Josephine Read Williams. He was a former co-owner of the Ninety Six Gulf Station and had been employed by Beshers Tire and Southern Brick Co. He was a former member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Francis E. “Gene” Williams Jr. of Ninety Six and three brothers, Verle Williams of San Diego, Charles E. Williams of Des Moines, Iowa and Allen James Williams of Guayaquil, Equador.
A memorial service is 2 p.m. Saturday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Bobby Davis. Visitation is 7:30-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to the Edgefield Health Care Center, 1 W.A. Reel Drive, Edgefield, SC 29824.

David W. Anderson
GREENWOOD — David Winton Anderson, 67, resident of 128 Kingston Road, husband of Leona James Anderson died February 2, 2004 at his home.
Born in Rainelle, W.VA, January 26, 1937 son of the late Claude and Hallie Munsey Anderson. He was retired from Cooper Power Systems.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are a daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Diana A. Jones of Tuscaloosa, AL, a son and daughter-in-law, Greg andJackie Anderson of Anderson. Two sisters, Janet Anderson of Columbus, OH and Mary Dorval of Boynton Beach, FL, three grandchildren, Winton Jones, Jacob and Casey Anderson.
He was predeceased by a brother Claude Anderson, Jr. and a sister, Phyllis Anderson.
At David’s request there will be no funeral services.
The family will be at the home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646.

Frances Breland
Frances Poore Breland, 88, of Wesley Commons, wife of Madison W. Breland, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Ulysess S. and Martha Elizabeth Ellison Poore. She received a bachelor of arts degree from Lander University and a master of arts degree from Vanderbilt-Peabody in Nashville, Tenn. She formerly taught in Jacksonboro and Fair Play public schools and retired from Greenwood School District 50. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of the home.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Blyth Funeral Home, conducted by Dr. Ted Morton, the Rev. Carol Peppers-Wray and Dr. Tony Hopkins. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Greenwood Humane Society, P.O. Box 242, Greenwood, SC 29648, Wesley Commons, 1110 Marshall Road, Greenwood, SC 29646 or a charity of one’s choice.

Carolyn Mooney Brymer
TUCSON, AZ — Born in Nacogdoches, Texas August 21, 1930. Died in Tucson, AZ January 30, 2004, following a 2-year courageous battle with cancer. Survived by her husband of 51 years B. R. “Bookey” Brymer; children Mark (Priscilla) and Lee Anne Buckley, and 2 grandchildren, Madelyn and James Lee Buckley. Member of the PEO. Former President of Greenwood, S.C. Woman’s Club. Career as a teacher of Speech and Drama in Texas , Kansas, Florida, Columbia, Tennessee, and the Parkway School District in St. Louis. She assisted her husband in managing retirement communities, including Westminster Village in Scottsdale, Arizona and Fellowship Square Tucson.
Visitation was held February 2, 2004 at Bring’s Broadway Chapel, 6910 East Broadway, Tucson, AZ. Funeral service will be held at the AmericanLutheran Church in Sun City, AZ.

Edwin Buchwald
Edwin Joseph Buchwald, 82, of 1219 Willard Road, widower of Jean Harlock Buchwald, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004 in Buffalo, N.Y.
Born in Buffalo, he was a World War II Army veteran and was retired from General Motors.
Survivors include a son, Wade Buchwald of Buffalo; eight daughters, Susan Bosworth and Barbara Dockrill, both of Ohio, Jean Snelling of Greenwood, Diane Gassman of Walworth, N.Y., Shelia Lehning of Angola, N.Y., Kimberly Wear of Orchard Park, N.Y., Janet Ciminelli and Joann Wallace, both of Cheektowaga, N.Y.; a brother, Arthur Buchwald of Ohio; a sister, Juanita Schober of New York; 23 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.
Services and burial are in Buffalo.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1741, Greenwood, SC 29648.

Robert Lewis Davis
MORGANTON, N.C. — Robert Lewis Davis, 83, formerly of Calhoun Falls, S.C., died Friday, Jan. 30, 2004 at Grace Hospital.
Born in Jersey, Ga., he was a son of the late Everett J. and Ola Cannon Davis. He was a retired textile worker with Burlington Industries. He had attended the Church of God of Prophecy in Calhoun Falls.
Survivors include a son, Robert E. Davis of Liberty; two daughters, Mrs. Bobby (Sharee) Gilmer of Abbeville, S.C., and Mrs. Jerry (Kathy Helen) Lewis of Morganton; a brother, Roy Davis of Calhoun Falls; a sister, Louise “Boots” Gibson of Calhoun Falls; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are 3 p.m. Wednesday in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Abbeville, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Schall.
Visitation is 5-6 today at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville.

Evelyn ‘Nell’ Dykes
HODGES — Evelyn Lounell “Nell” Dykes, 63, wife of Claude M. Dykes Jr., died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004.
Born in Bleckley County, Ga., she was a daughter of Nancy Smith and the late Felton Smith.
Survivors include her husband of Hodges; her children, Mrs. Danny (Susan) Scruggs of Kernersville, N.C., David M. Dykes of New Castle, Ky., Donald R. Dykes of Hodges and Sheila J. Dykes of Salem, Va.; her mother of Hawkinsville, Ga.
Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Macedonia Baptist Church, Dodge County, Ga. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 6-8 tonight at Mathis Funeral Home in Cochran, Ga.

Thelma Goodman
CHAPPELLS, SC — A halo of angels came Sunday, February 1, 2004, to carry Lucy Thelma Gentry Goodman to her new home. She is your child now Lord, let her know you are near. May her footprints not be found in the sand, but your footprints Lord, as you carry her home.
Mrs. Goodman was born in Saluda County, January 22, 1917, the daughter of the late Columbus David and Lula Mae Shealy Gentry; she was the wife of the late Clarence Goodman. She was a homemaker and a member of Soule Chapel United Methodist Church in Chappells.
Surviving are four sons, Clarence Gerald Goodman of Johnston, Oscar W. Goodman of Saluda, Virgil W. Goodman of Whitmire and Boyce E. Goodman of Newberry; four daughters, Mary E. Foshee of Hodges, Jewell L. Anderson of Sanger, TX, Voncille G. McCarson of Laurens and Renee T. Lewis of Waterloo; two brothers, John Gentry and Richard Gentry both of Saluda; four sisters, Willie Miller and Claudia Gentry both of Saluda, Jackie Wasson of Laurens and Neva Salter of Augusta, GA; 23 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Goodman was preceded in death by a grandson, Jamie Lewis, two brothers, Sam Gentry and Bo Gentry and a sister, Bernice Gentry.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 4, 2004, at Ramey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Griffith and Rev. Todd Pickens officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Tuesday at Ramey Funeral Home in Saluda.

Mildred Clara Jones
Mildred Clara Jones, 95, widow of Harold Jones, died Friday, Jan. 30, 2004 at Wesley Commons.
Born in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late Eugene and Ada Bishop Schwarm. She was a homemaker and a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Lee (Sandra J.) Foltz of Greenwood; a sister, Esther C. Most of Sebring, Ohio; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wesley Commons, the Ted Morton Center Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Carol Peppers-Wray, chaplain.
Memorials may be made to HospiceCare of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646.
The Cremation Society of South Carolina, Greenville, is in charge.

Ruby G. Moore
NINETY SIX — Ruby Goodman Moore, 88, of 109 Parkman Circle, widow of James “Bo” Moore, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004 at National Health Care Center.
Born in Ninety Six, she was a daughter of the late Richard Hogan and Annie Cheek Goodman. She retired from the Ninety Six Cheeseburger House and was a member of First Baptist Church of Ninety Six.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Moore, with whom she formerly made her home, and a sister, Julia Seymore of National Health Care, Clinton, formerly of Whitmire.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Revs. Steve Justice and Joseph Ouzts. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Colie Rushton, Ray Berry, Ben Milner, Johnny Ellenberg, Harold Kennemore, Clarence Turner, Bruce Smith, Russ Waters and William Long.
Visitation is 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at the home.

J. Floyd Sutherland
Joseph Floyd Sutherland, 82, of 304 Alabama Ave., widower of Kathleen “Kitty” Doris George Sutherland, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004 at Augusta Hills Nursing Home, Augusta, Ga.
