Marguerite McCaskill
CAMDEN — Marguerite Ann McCaskill, 92, formerly of 1610 Lakeview St., died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004 at the Karesh Wing of Kershaw County Medical Center.
Born in Kershaw County, she was a daughter of the late Dr. Stephen M. and Sara Jane Johnson McCaskill. She was a graduate of Camden High School, received a R.N. degree in 1933 from Camden Hospital Training School and was a member of First Baptist Church in Camden. She was employed in private practice in N.C., the Veteran’s Administration in Virginia and retired from the Kershaw Co. Health Dept. in 1973 after 30 years of service.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Quaker Cemetery in Camden, S.C. The body is at The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home, Abbeville, S.C.
Visitation is after services Tuesday at the cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, Camden, S.C. or to the Karesh Wing of Kershaw County Medical Center, 1315 Roberts St., Camden, S.C. 29020.
The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home, Abbeville, is in charge.

Maggie McDowell
SALUDA, SC — Maggie Berry McDowell, 87, died in Saluda Nursing Center Saturday, February 7, 2004.
Born in Saluda County, September 2, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Clayton “Rafe” and Sophronia Styron Berry. She was twice married, first to the late Robert “Bob” Bryan and second to the late Jim McDowell. She spent most of her life in Saluda County and lived in Summerville and Mt. Pleasant, SC for several years prior to her death.
Surviving are two daughters, Erys Horne of Saluda and Annie Lois Saylors of Mt. Pleasant, SC; a son, Ralph Arthur “R.A.” Bryan of Saluda, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Mary C. Berry of Saluda and a number of nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. McDowell was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Gloria Horne.
Funeral services will be 2:30 PM Tuesday, February 10, 2004 at Ramey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Justice officiating. Interment will follow in Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 PM Monday evening at Ramey Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home of a daughter, Erys Horne, 121 Double Spring Rd., Saluda, SC.
Memorials may be made to Saluda Nursing Center, P.O. Box 398, Saluda, SC, 29138 or to the charity of one’s choice.

Jean Timms
ANDERSON — Violet Jean Timms, 70, of Ellenburg Nursing Home, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004 at Anderson Area Medical Center.
Born in Abbeville, she was a daughter of the late Million Boles and Elizabeth Tucker Boles. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include four sons, Douglas Timms, Rayford Timms, Allen Timms, all of Anderson and Earl Timms of Belton; three daughters, Patricia McKee of Iva, Della Culbertson and Sue Rochester of Anderson; a brother, Million Boles Jr. of Buford, Ga.; four sisters, Mary Brewster of McCormick, Agnes Jeffcoats of Virginia, Irene Patton and Grace Busby, both of Greenwood; 23 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.
Services are 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at The McDougald Funeral Home, conducted by Sister Rosie Duncan and Layman Steve McKee. Burial is in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.
Visitation is 6-8 tonight at The McDougald Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of a daughter, Della Culbertson, 1408 Cherokee Circle, Anderson.
The McDougald Funeral Home is in charge.

Catherine D. Greer
HODGES – Catherine Eugene Dean Greer, 76, of 2608 Ridge Road, Hodges, widow of Roy Lee Greer, died Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in SC, she was a daughter of the late Georgia Dean. She was a retired cottage parent at Connie Maxwell Children’s Home and was a member of the Salvation Army Church and attended Connie Maxwell Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, Vernon Dean Greer.
Surviving is a son, George Richard Greer of Hodges; two stepsons, James Greer of Camden and Tommy Greer of Tampa, FL; a sister, Hazel Byrd of Brownwood, TX; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with Captain David Phelps officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Jeremy Greer, Chris Greer, Rick Greer, Jody Boyd, Zach Tallman and Victor Aguilar.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
The family is at the home.

Agnes C. Klugh
ABBEVILLE — Services for Agnes Campbell Klugh, of 627 Klugh Road, are at noon Friday at Little Zion A.M.E. Church, Grange Road, Greenwood, conducted by the Right Rev. Henry Allen Belin Jr., presiding bishop of S.C. A.M.E. Churches. Assisting are the Revs. Roland E.D. Sigman and George H. Oliver. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Burial is in Evening Star Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include a daughter, Lealer K. Cantlow of Abbeville and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are grandsons.
Flower bearers are granddaughters.
Honorary escorts are members of Piedmont Annual Conference Women’s Missionary Society.
Visitation is Thursday evening at the home.

Tharie Klugh
ABBEVILLE — Tharie Klugh, 73, of 627 Klugh Road, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003 at the VA Medical Center in Augusta, Ga.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of Agnes Campbell Klugh and the late James Odell Klugh. He was a member of St. John A.M.E. Church, Abbeville County, where he was a Steward Board member. He served as a private first class in the Army during the Korean War, receiving the Purple Heart and was a retired construction worker.
Survivors include his mother of the home; a brother, Presiding Elder Oscar Aiken Klugh of Abbeville; three sisters, Mrs. Albert (Annie) Styles and Lealer K. Cantlow, both of Abbeville and Frances W. Klugh of the home.
Services with military rites are 11 a.m. Friday at St. John A.M.E. Church, conducted by the Rev. Vivian Edwards, pastor, and the Rev. Casey J. Childs is assisting. The body will be placed in the church at 10. Burial is in Evening Star Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are nephews, and flower bearers are nieces.
Honorary escorts are Brewer Hart, Nathaniel Davis, Melvin Wims, Frank Rapley, Benjamin Stevens and church officers.
Visitation is this evening at the home.

William R. Lomax
ATLANTA — William Robert Lomax, 88, of 849 Wood St. N.W., died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004 at the home of a daughter, Louise Gray.
Survivors include a son, Ishmael Lomax of Philadelphia; two daughters, Sarah Phillips of Detroit and Louise Gray of Atlanta; four sisters, Mary Brooks and the Rev. Florence Kelly, both of Philadelphia, Frances Crawford of Abbeville, S.C., Mariah Burton of Stone Mountain, Ga.; two brothers, Fred A. Lomax of New Orleans and Lewis L. Lomax of Columbia, S.C.
The family is at the home of a nephew, John Crawford, 1294 McDill Road, Abbeville.
Services will be announced by Abbeville & White Mortuary, Abbeville.

Ezell Martin
ABBEVILLE — Ezell Martin, 61, of 23 Gray Lane, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004 at his home.
A son of the late Eddie and Jannie Bell Green Martin, he was educated in Abbeville public schools and was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include four brothers, James Martin of Atlanta, George Martin and Mozell Martin, both of Abbeville, Samuel Martin of Anderson; four sisters, Eddie Ruth Gray and Mary Jane Goodwin, both of Abbeville, Thelma Hunter and Inez Martin, both of Level Land.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Fairfield Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Michael Peppers. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Viewing is 11-8 today at Richie Funeral Home.
The family is at the home.

Marvin D. Mundy
ANDERSON — Marvin D. Mundy, 75, of 205 Adams Ave., husband of Mary Miller Mundy, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2004 at Anderson Area Medical Center.
Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late James D. and Lelia Hammonds Mundy. He retired from the textile industry and served in the Army Air Corps. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Roger Mundy and Cary Mundy, both of Anderson; two daughters, Diane Osborne of Anderson and Kelly Mundy of the home; two brothers, Marion E. Mundy of Abbeville and Franklin Mundy of Greenwood; a sister, Rachel Betty Kinard of Abbeville; five grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Woodlawn Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Durham. Burial is in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Visitation is 6:30-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at the home.

Lee Phillips, Sr.
GREENWOOD — Lee Marshall Phillips, Sr., 63, of 2515 Highway 25 South, husband of Loucille Hicks Phillips, died Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Royston, GA, he was a son of the late Fred and Lois Bell Phillips Phillips. He was a captain with the City of Greenwood Fire Department, serving for thirty years and was a member of the SC Fireman’s Association. He was a member of Durst Avenue Church of God.
Surviving is his wife of the home; a son, Lee M. Phillips, Jr. of Greenwood; a daughter, Aimee Lynn Phillips Roark of Ninety Six; three sisters, Nezzie Parks of Florida, Mertie Torey of Travelers Rest and Nellie Sullivan of Columbia; a brother, Marvin Phillips of Greenville; and three grandchildren, Lee Phillips III, Jeremy Phillips and AnaCaroline Roark.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Wallace Purvis and the Rev. Jason Garner officiating. Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Hayes, Bill Goff, Guy Breedlove, Frank Hicks, Jeff Hendricks and Ray Goff.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m.
The family is at the home of his son, Lee Phillips, Jr., 106 Hampton Road, Idlewood.

HODGES — James William “Bill” Strawhorn, 70, of 110 Pine Ridge Drive, husband of Sara Yon Strawhorn, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood.

Donell Williams
Donell Williams, 68, of 126-A Walker St., died Monday, Feb. 16, 2004.
The family is at the home of a brother, Harper Williams, 1304 Yvonne Ave., Greenwood.
Services will be announced by Parks Funeral Home.

Avis M. Caldecott
Avis Morris Caldecott, 98, of 1110 Marshall Road, formerly of 325 E. Cambridge Ave., widow of Edwin Lewis Caldecott, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004 at Wesley Commons, Morton Nursing Center.
Born in Chamblee, Ga., she was a daughter of the late David G. and Ora Blankenship Morris. She was active with The Alliance Francaise de Greenwood, Lotus Garden Club, the Humane Society of Greenwood and Greenwood Cancer Fund. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Graveside services are 1 p.m. Saturday in Prospect Cemetery, Chamblee.
A memorial service is 1 p.m. Feb. 28 at Asbury Hall, Wesley Commons.
