ABBEVILLE – J. Allen “Cowboy” Crawford, 82, husband of Helen Hall Crawford of 100 Dundas St., Abbeville died Thursday, February 19, 2004 at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital. Mr. Crawford was born in Abbeville to the late William A. and Ada McClain Crawford.
Mr. Crawford served in the United States Army. He was a member of the local VFW Post #6087, and South Side Baptist Church.
His brothers, W. Kelley and Rayford Crawford predeceased him. Surviving Mr. Crawford is his wife of 62 years of the home, three daughters, Barbara C. Bollman and her husband Paul of Bradley, SC, Anne C. Carver and her husband Larry of Taylors, SC and Rose C. Weeks of Taylors, SC, a sister, Mildred C. Nance of Abbeville, eight grandchildren, Cindy Hosea and her husband Myron, Eddie Perry, Max Bollman and his wife Melissa, Josh Carver and his wife Amy, Chris Weeks, Matt Weeks, Beth Bollman, Erin Bollman, and three great-grandchildren, Kaitlin Hosea, Chandler Hosea, and Brady Bollman.
The family will receive friends 6:00PM to 8:00PM Friday, February 20, 2004 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 2:00PM Saturday, February 21, 2004 in the funeral home chapel.
Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Guilford ‘Gip’ Lindley Sr.
McCORMICK — Guilford Kennedy “Gip” Lindley Sr., 76, of Highway 10, husband of Katie Willis Lindley, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood.
Born in the Bordeaux section of McCormick County, he was a son of the late John Thomas and Minnie Lee Hodges Lindley. He was a Mason, a member of Mine Lodge No. 117, McCormick and owner and operator of Lindley’s Grocery for 51 years. He was also a member of McCormick United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Annette Lindley.
Survivors include his wife of the home; four sons, Kenneth Y. Bowick, Guilford Kennedy “Kenny” Lindley Jr., John Thomas “Tommy” Lindley and Rickey Joe “Rick” Lindley, all of McCormick; two daughters, Debbie Lindley White and Karen Lindley Bowick, both of McCormick; three sisters, Frances Rabun, Lucy Williams and Mary Jane Self, all of McCormick; two brothers, Leonard Lindley and Claude Lindley, both of McCormick; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at McCormick United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Don Clendaniel II officiating. Burial with Masonic rites is in Overbrook Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Wesley Lindley, C.L. Smoot, Thomas “Tweety” Ellenberg, Wayne Lawton, Roger Edwards and Randy Young.
Honorary escorts are members of Mine Lodge No. 117.
Visitation is 7-9 p.m. Friday at Strom Funeral Home.
The family is at the home.

Charles G. Mitchell
BRADLEY — Charles Graham Mitchell, 84, of 406 Ron McNair St., husband of Beatrice Booker Mitchell, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004 at his home.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late Lula Mitchell. He was of the Baptist faith. A retired machine operator at Parke-Davis/Kendall, he was a former landscaper for Dr. Winston Morris and served as a technical sergeant in the Air Force during World War II.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Charles Mitchell of Nashville, Tenn.; three daughters, Mrs. Charles (Sandra) Allen and Elaine Evans, both of Greenwood, Mrs. Larry (Brenda) Norman of Greensboro, N.C.; a brother, Luther Mitchell of Edgefield; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home.

Thomas Edward O’Donnell
SUWANEE, GA – Thomas Edward O’Donnell, age 77 of Suwanee died Wednesday, February 18, 2004. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM, Friday, February 20, 2004 at the Catholic church of St. Monica, Duluth. Father Mansueto Palang will serve as Celebrant. A member of the Catholic Church of St. Monica in Duluth, Mr. O’Donnell is survived by: Children: Mary Carolyn Poppe, Suwanee, GA, Michael O’Donnell, Tallahassee, FL, Mary Joan Stephens, Greenwood, SC, Sean O’Donnell, Oklahoma City, OK; Brother: Gerald O’Donnell, Alexandria, VA; Grandchildren: Kimberly Kenny, Asheville, NC, Rachelle Tognacci, Madison Heights, MI, Tiffany AmRhein, Sugar Hill, GA, Caitlin O’Donnell, Tallahassee, FL, Allyson Stephens, Hayden Stephens, Margaret Stephens, Bryson Stephens, all of Greenwood, SC, Kayla O’Donnell, Oklahoma City, OK; Great Grandchildren: Meghan AmRhein, and Jonathon AmRhein. Jack H. Pace
SIMPSONVILLE, S.C. – Jack H. Pace, age 63, of 147 Forest Lake Dr. died Wednesday, February 18th in the Greenville Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Clinton and was the son of the late John Henry and Edith Robinson Pace. Mr. Pace was a retired employee of Wilson Sporting Goods; was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greer and was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
He is survived by his wife Julia Bolt Pace of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Katherine and Mark A. Sanders of Ninety Six; a granddaughter, Katherine Elizabeth Sanders; three grandsons, Steven Andrew Sanders, Matthew Aaron Sanders and John William Sanders; two brothers, Michael H. Pace of Woodruff and Steve Pace of Blythwood; three sisters, Judy E. Pace of Ware Shoals, Kathy Howard of Gray Court and Carol Cogdill of Ware Shoals.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the Gray Funeral Home of Laurens by Dr. Robin Fisher and Rev. Steve Justice, followed by interment at Rock Bridge Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Clinton.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Laurens.
Memorials may be made to the Youth Mission Trip, First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 85, Ninety Six, SC 29666.
The family will be at the home of a nephew, Tim Faulkner, 3792 Milam Road, Clinton.

Ruby Rogers Phillips
HONEA PATH — Ruby Rogers Phillips, 76, wife of Clyde Phillips, of 214 Rogers Road, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004 at her home.
Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Calvin and Mallie Bratcher Rogers. She was a member of Chiquola United Methodist Church and a bookkeeper.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Donnie Clyde Phillips of Honea Path; two daughters, Kathy DiBona of Greenwood and Karen P. Thomas of Waterloo; a brother, Clarence Rogers of Anderson; a sister, Doris Lowe of Craytonville; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Chiquola United Methodist Church, conducted by the Revs. Jones Brewer, J.W. Welch and Bobby Davis. Burial is in the Garden of Memories.
Visitation is 6-8 tonight at the church.
The family is at the home.

Edith Shaw
Edith Imogene Smith Shaw, 80, of 216 Jackson St., widow of Howard R. Shaw, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Visitation is 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of a son, Roger Shaw, 114 Crestview Drive.
Services will be announced by Harley Funeral Home.

Lamar Smith
GREENWOOD – Henry Lamar Smith, 89, resident of 1110 Marshall Road, husband of Mary Bryan Smith, died February 19, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood county December 6, 1914, he was a son of the late John Lewis and Jessie Langley Smith. He served in the US Marine Corps during WWII and retired from Aldrich Machine Works in Greenwood. He continued to enjoy his part time profession of barbering through January, 2004. Lamar lived most of his life in Greenwood and enjoyed 63 years of marriage to his loving wife.
A faithful member of Tranquil United Methodist Church and the Clark Sunday School Class of the church, he was also a life member and past Master of Greenwood Masonic Lodge #91 AFM.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home, are two sons, Henry Lamar Jr. and wife Sherry Parkman Smith of North Augusta and Wayne Bryan and wife Beverly Welsh Smith of Charlotte, NC. Sisters, Margaret Cooper and Doris Smith of Greenwood. A brother in law, Joe Prince and wife Helen Gentry Bryan of Greenwood. Grandchildren, Dana Smith Lykins and husband Paul of North Augusta, Jennifer Smith Lindler and husband Phil of Greenwood, Anna Kathryn Smith of New York, NY; and Benjamin Bryan Smith of Richmond, VA. Great-grandchildren, Blake and Rhett Lindler and Matthew Lykins; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11am Saturday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Patterson and Rev. Carol - Peppers Wray officiating.
Entombment will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
Honorary escort will be the members and teachers of the Clark Sunday School Class.
The family is at the home at Wesley Commons and will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 Friday evening.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to Tranquil United Methodist Church, 1702 McCormick Hwy, Greenwood, SC 29646 or to the charity of one’s choice.

Charles ‘Chuck’ Terry
BRADENTON, Fla. — Charles “Chuck” Terry, 66, husband of Shirley Terry, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004.
Born in Greenwood, S.C., he was a son of Evelyn McCary and moved to Bradenton in 1959. He retired from Manatee County Transit System after 17 years of service and was a bus driver for 42 years. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of Masonic Lodge No. 376 of Sarasota and a member of Bible Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of Bradenton; his mother of Greenwood; two stepdaughters, Jackie Covington of Lubbock, Texas and Gaye Adams of Charleston, S.C.; two sons, Doug Terry of Pennsylvania and Steven Terry of Spring Hill; two stepsons, Paul Powell of Danville, Ill., and Denny Powell of Grayville, Ill.; five grandchildren; 16 step-great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. today at Palms Funeral Home, Sarasota. Burial is in Palms Memorial Park, Sarasota.
Visitation is 1-2 today at the funeral home.

Joseph P. Federico
ABBEVILLE — Joseph P. Federico, 78, of 134 Briarwood Circle, Abbeville, husband of the late Bertha Rice Federico, died Saturday, February 21, 2004 at Abbeville Nursing Home. He was born in New York to the late Joseph W. and Betty Adiego Federico.
Mr. Federico served in the United States Marine Corp. He was a retired construction engineer.
He is survived by his son, Paul Federico and his wife, Barbara of Maspeth, NY, a daughter, Barbara Pezzanite and her husband, Frank, of Fresh Meadows, NY, two grandchildren, Lauren and Daniel Federico of Fresh Meadows, NY.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be 10 AM (TODAY) Monday, February 23, 2004 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Reda Gomillion
Reda Morton Gomillion, 85, formerly of Aiken, widow of J. Wade Gomillion, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004 at National Healthcare Center in Greenwood.
Visitation is 10-11 Wednesday in the Fellowship Hall at Memorial Baptist Church in Aiken.
The family is at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bill (Rose) Whaley, 107 N. Cedar Drive.
Services will be announced by Blyth Funeral Home.

Douglas E. Simpson
ABBEVILLE — Douglas E. “Skeeter” Simpson, 57, of Abbeville, died February 20, 2004 at his residence. He was born in Abbeville to the late Guy and Ruth New Simpson.
Mr. Simpson served in the United States Marine Corp. He was a combat wounded Vietnam veteran where he received numerous decorations. He was a member of the Congregational Holiness Church. He was a conductor with CSX Railroad. Mr. Simpson was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, VFW Post #6087, American Legion Post #2, DAV Chapter 42, and Marine Corp. League Detachment 1112.
Surviving Mr. Simpson are four sons, Doug Simpson and his wife, Crystal of Hagerstown, Md., Chris Simpson of Spartanburg, Tad Martin and his wife, April of Abbeville, and Jason Martin of Abbeville; a daughter, Sandy Guest of Hilton Head; a brother, Randall Simpson of Hickory Knob; two sisters; Tracy Hutto of Greenwood, Alane Taylor of Abbeville and eight grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, February 24, 2004 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 25, 2004 at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow with military honors at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The Rev. Darrell New will be officiating. The family will be at the home of Tad and April Martin, 288 Adger Lane, Abbeville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Legion Post #2, P.O. Box 853, Abbeville, SC 29620.

James Andrews
PHILADELPHIA — James Andrews, 71, of Germantown Nursing Home, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004.
Born in Greenwood, S.C., he was a son of the late Julius and Bessie Gilchrist Andrews. He was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, was a former truck driver and was an Army veteran.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Andrews of Greenwood and Geraldine Green of Columbus, Ga.; a brother, Henry P. Andrews of Promised Land; a sister, Rose Mary Andrews of Philadelphia; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be announced by Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home, Greenwood.

Donald Brink
Donald Duane Brink, 79, of 133 Lawton St., husband of Patricia Gallagher Brink, died Monday, Feb. 23, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he was a son of the late Erle and Dora Johnson Brink. He was a graduate of Collinwood High School and a World War II Navy veteran. Retired from Ohio State Department of Transportation, Cleveland, he was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Greenwood.
Formerly of Madison, Ohio, he moved to Greenwood in 1998.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Nicholas (Sandra B.) Popovich of Cleveland; two sons, Duane D. Brink of Cincinnati and Terry D. Brink of Greenwood; a sister, Erlene B. Damyanchik of Cleveland; three grandsons.
Graveside services are 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in Greenwood Memorial Gardens, conducted by Dr. Jeff Lethco.
Visitation is 3-4 Wednesday at Blyth Funeral Home.
The family is at the home.
