Helen C. Turner
LONG BEACH, CALIF. — Helen Chiles Turner, 83, widow of John Turner, died Thursday, May 13, 2004 at Sinai Hospital, Los Angeles.
Born in Troy, S.C., she was reared in the home of James and Chaney Lites Chiles. She attended schools in Troy and Bradley, S.C. and was a member of Troy Bethel A.M.E. Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Olivia Joyce Haywood, of Long Beach, Calif.; three sons, Joseph Haywood and James Robert Turner of Los Angeles and the Rev. Norris Turner of Greenwood; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services are Wednesday at Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel, 1500 E. San Antonio Drive, Long Beach, Calif. 90807-1233.
Forest Lawn Memorial Park is in charge.

Henrietta Anderson
ATLANTA — Henrietta Busey Anderson died Sunday, May 16, 2004 after a long illness.
Survivors include three sons, Tommy Mansel of Cocoa Beach, Fla., Demoric Young of Waverly, Fla., and Joseph Young of Bradley, S.C.; two daughters, Maggie Robinson and Dorothy Cooley, both of the home; and a brother, Lee Busey of Greenville, S.C.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Donald Trimble Mortuary, 1875 Second Ave., Decatur, Ga.

Rodney Gerald Cade
CALHOUN FALLS — Rodney Gerald Cade, 41, of 452 Deacon Road, died Tuesday, May 18, 2004 at his home.
Born in Elberton, Ga., he was a son of Catherine Cade and the late Walter Cade. He was a member of Hunter’s Chapel A.M.E. Church, Elberton and an Air Force veteran, serving for 11 years. He graduated from Calhoun Falls High School in 1982.
Survivors include his mother of the home; two daughters, Amanda Cade and Jennifer Cade, both of Boise, Idaho; three sisters, Mrs. Tommye (Laura) Tinch, Charlie Mae Cade and Arelene Dubose, all of Calhoun Falls; five brothers, Eugene Turman, Ossie Cade, Michael Cade, Mark Cade, Gary Wayne Cade, all of Calhoun Falls; two nephews of the home, Anterrio Cade and Dedius Cade.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Hunter’s Chapel A.M.E. Church, conducted by the Rev. Steven Smith. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Abbeville County.
The family is at the home.

Doc Adams
Charles L. “Doc” Adams, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, died Thursday, August 6, 2004 after an extended illness. He was 76 years old.
Born in Edgefield County in 1928, he was a son of the late James Tolbert Adams and Ida Lee Casey Adams. He was a US Army veteran of World War II and was the retired owner of Doc Adams Used Cars. He was an avid collector of antique cars and was a member of Callie Self Memorial Baptist Church.
Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Anita Hilliard Adams; three daughters, Linda Byers of Atlanta, GA, Kathy Dodson and Teresa Polattie, both of Callison; three sons, Charles “Chuck” Adams of Ware Shoals, Michael Adams of Greenwood and Barry Adams of Waterloo; 12 grandchildren, Jonathan Byers, Rodney Adams, Wanda Dodson Gibert, Stacey Dodson, Michelle Adams, Brandon Adams, Brent Adams, Tony Adams, Tonya Adams Vermillion, Marie Adams Lothridge, Dwight Polattie Jr. and Amanda Polattie Sims; 18 great grandchildren, Austin Adams, Zachary Adams, Tyler Gibert, Desiree Dodson, Heather Matthews, Hunter Fain, Kristen Adams, Curtis Adams, Mike Vermillion, Dave Vermillion, Angel Lothridge, Grady Lothridge III, Ashley Polattie, Hunter Sims, Brittany Smith, Shawn Smith, Michael Adams and Ethan Adams.
One of seven children, he is also survived by two brothers, Lucian “Shorty” Adams of Greenwood and Jim Adams of Trenton and a sister, Joyce Adams Quattlebaum of Columbia. Brothers and sisters preceded in death are Ray Adams, James Adams and Lois Cushion.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Leland S. Scott and the Rev. Reuel Westbrook officiating. Entombment will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens Chapel Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be nephews, Gene Adams, Rudy Adams, Danny Adams, Wayne Adams, Jeff Quattlebaum and Tommy Adams.
Honorary escort will be Wayne Whatley, Clifton Eakin, Bill Montgomery, J. T. Wash, Marion Bailer, Glen Kingsmore, James Dorn, Donnie Roberts, Hank Hartfield, Glenn Wideman, John Sudduth, Tommy Yon, Lee Fleming, Bobby Fisher, James Carruth, Bal Ballentine, Gary Russ, Dorton Shirley and Donald Hodges.
The family will receive friends at the home, 3612 Highway 25 South, on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m.
It is respectfully requested that flowers be omitted and memorials made to Connie Maxwell Children’s Home, PO Box 1178, Greenwood, SC 29648 or to the charity of one’s choice.

Haskell E. Fletcher
Haskell E. Fletcher, 85, of 219 Utopia Acres, widower of Grace Watson Fletcher, his loving wife of 47 years, died Friday, August 6, 2004 at his home.
Born in Ware Shoals; a son of the late Oscar and Tecora Whitman Fletcher. He was retired from the Durst Plant of Greenwood Mills, where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was a member of the United States Marine Corp, the Woodmen of the World, and First Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Bill Rushton Sunday School Class and the choir.
Surviving are two daughters Carole Scott and Judy Doolittle both of Greenwood; two sons Eugene Fletcher of Rock Hill and Jimmy Fletcher of Greenwood; a number of grand and great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Fred Smith officiating.
Pallbearers will be Clyde Taylor, Bill Rushton, Bennie Burnett, Hugh Teasley, Billy Coursey and Ned Scott.
The body is at Harley Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Sunday night from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m.
Memorials may be made to First Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, 2107 Mt. Moriah Road, Greenwood, SC, 29646.

Rev. William E. Link
ABBEVILLE — Rev. William Edwin Link, 79, widower of Elizabeth Allen McLaughlin Link, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004 at McLeod Hospital in Florence, S.C.
Born in Jolo, Sulu Archipelago Philippines, he was a son of the late Francis Lawson and Emily Schuck Link.
He was a Navy veteran, attended University of South Carolina and Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C. where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree. He entered Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Va. where he received a Bachelor of Divinity Degree. He retired from active ministry serving Ashpole and Rowland Presbyterian Church in Rowland, N.C. and was involved in the Lion’s Club, board of education and served as hospital chaplain.
Survivors include a brother, Rev. Robert Sumter Link; four sons, William Edwin Link Jr., Charles McLaughlin Link, Stuart Townsend Link and Samuel Allen Link; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services are 3 p.m. today at Claritin Presbyterian Church.
Burial is 2 p.m. Monday in Long Cane Cemetery, Abbeville.
The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home is in charge.

Services for Lenora McBride are 1 p.m. Tuesday at Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc., conducted by the Rev. John Henry Parks Jr. Burial is in Ninety Six Community Cemetery.
Pallbearers are friends of the family.
Flower bearers are nieces.
Visitation is 7-8 Monday at Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc.
The family is at the home of an aunt, Jessie Mae Bowie, 605 Owens St.

Terry L. Sanders Jr.
WARE SHOALS — Terry Lee Sanders Jr., 31, of 2445 Poplar Springs Road, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born in Lancaster County, he was a machinist employed with Burns Repair Shop in Simpsonville.
Survivors include his wife, Melissa Knight Wheatley Sanders of the home; his mother, Virginia Sparr, Greenville; two daughters, Nicole Sanders and Summer Sanders, of Easley; and one brother, Michael Sanders, Fountain Inn.
Graveside services are 11 a.m. Monday at Westview Memorial Park in Laurens.
The family is at the home and will receive friends there and at the cemetery after the service.

Georgia C. Boone
ABBEVILLE — Georgia C. Boone, 63, of 315 McGowan Ave., died Saturday, August 7th at her residence. She was born in Shelbyville, Tenn. to the late George and Ida Mae Anglon Chappell. Ms. Boone was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Abbeville. Ms. Boone was preceded in death by her brother, Tommie Chappell. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Tim Brown of Abbeville, a brother, Tony Chappell of Chester, SC, four sisters, Nancy Lewis of Blackstock, SC, Pam Crenshaw of Rockhill, SC, Tina Roper of Plant City, FL., and Debbie Simone of Polk City, FL., and two grandchildren, Mandee Cheek and Lacee Brown, both of Abbeville. All services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, c/o Hampton & Merriman #3 Village Square, Greenwood, SC 29648. Della C. Hand
SPARTANBURG — Della Mae Chapman Hand, 83, formerly of 3-C Tudor Woods, widow of Wiley Hand, died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
A native of Spartanburg County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Della Seay Chapman. She was a retired clerk with Smith’s Drugs and a member of Valley Falls First Baptist Church. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors include a daughter, Susie D. Hollifield of Inman; a son, Cephas Hand of Cross Hill; five grandchildren, two reared in the home, Marty Hand and Teresa Lowe, 10 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild and a companion of the home, Allison Garner.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Valley Falls First Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. John Lancaster, Hayward Calvert and Everett Chapman. The body will be placed in the church at 1.
Burial is in North Spartanburg First Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Rusty Hollifield, Rodney Hollifield, Gene Humphries, Paul Chapman and Dean Chapman.
Honorary escorts are Marty Hand, Joshua Hand, D.J. Lowe and Carla Hand.
Visitation is 7-9 tonight at Eggers Funeral Home of Boiling Springs.

Elizabeth “Pat” Hughey
WILIMINGTON, Del. — Elizabeth “Pat” Hughey, 85, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004.
Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Simon of Wilimington, and a host of grandchildren.
Services are at 11 Tuesday at Congo Funeral Home, 201 North Gray Ave., Wilmington, Del. Burial is in Silverbrook Cemetery in Wilmington.
Visitation is from 10-11 at the funeral home.

Robert Henry McClinton Jr.
Robert Henry McClinton Jr., 77, of 1317 Florida Ave., husband of Lillie Mae Robinson McClinton, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center.
He was a son of the late Robert McClinton Sr. and the late Annie Mae Watson McClinton. He was a retiree of Solutia and the Piedmont Agency on Aging. He was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church, the men’s adult Sunday school class, the gospel chorus, the mass choir and served on the Deacon Board. He was a member of the Sons of Aide No. 55, the Southview Community Club and a veteran of the army, Korean conflict.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Robert Lewis McClinton III, Johnny Frank Davis, both of Greenwood and Michael McClinton of Atlanta; two daughters, Mrs. Travis (Jacqueline) Paul of Greenwood and Mrs. Keith (Irma) O’Banner of Stafford, Va.; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc.

George McMorris
CLINTON — George McMorris, of 1711 Apple Orchard Road, died Friday, Aug. 6, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center.
He was a member of Old Beaverdam Baptist Church in Newberry County. He was employed by Senior Options of Laurens in transportation.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Maggie) McMorris Mason and Sally McMorris Fleming, both of Clinton.
Services are 3 p.m. Tuesday at Old Beaverdam Baptist Church, Newberry County. Burial is at Rosemont Cemetery, Clinton.
The family is at the home.
