Travis O. Tolbert Jr.
Travis Orlando Tolbert Jr., two months, of 751 E. Northside Drive, Apt. L-3, died Thursday, May 20, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood County, he was the infant son of Travis and Euketha Brown Tolbert.
Survivors include his parents of the home; three sisters, Travasia Tolbert, Janelle Tolbert and Haley Tolbert, all of the home; maternal grandfather, Terry Murray of Calhoun Falls; paternal grandmother, Marilyn Brown of Abbeville; maternal great-grandmothers, Rosie Brown of McCormick and Liddelle Murray of Calhoun Falls; paternal great-grandmother, Lucille Tolbert of Abbeville.
Services are at noon Saturday at Living Word Tabernacle of Faith, conducted by the Rev. Tony Foster, assisted by the Rev. Joanie Foster. Burial is in Evening Star Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is this evening at the home.
Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc. is in charge.

Danny Ashley
Daniel Max “Danny” Ashley, 49, of 514 Salak Road, husband of Jane Day Ashley, died Sunday, May 23, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Anderson, he was a son of Jessie Crawford Townsend and the late Frank Max Ashley. He was employed by Chandler Construction and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of the home; his mother of McCormick; two daughters, Jennifer “J.J.” Gorman and Susan Clark, both of Greenwood; a son, Daniel “Dan” Ashley of the home; two sisters, Judy Samples of Cross Hill and Betty Samples of Joanna; a brother, Bobby Ashley of McCormick; four grandchildren.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Harley Funeral Home. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Sammy Gorman, Ricky Clark, William Akers, Randy Day, Jerry Walker and Joe Goff.
Honorary escorts are Wesley Clark, Austin Gorman, Justin Clark and Celeste Gorman.
Visitation is 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of his mother-in-law, Agnes Day, 512 Salak Road.
Harley Funeral Home is in charge.

Barbara Beagen
NINETY SIX – Barbara Perkins Beagen, 65, resident of 228 Compass Point, wife of Lawrence F. “Larry” Beagen, died May 23, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Detroit, MI, April 30, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Coy and Dorothy Ann DaltonPerkins. She received her B.A. degree fromMarygrove College, Detroit, MI in 1961 where she majored in both art and education. In 1986, she received her master’s degree in education from the University of South Carolina. Mrs. Beagen taught 1st grade art in Detroit from 1961 to 1964 and later taught 1st grade in Troy, MI from 1975 to 1980. She taught 1st grade at Merrywood Elementary School in Greenwood from 1981 until her retirement in 1996.
A member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Greenwood, she was also a member of the National Education Association and the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. For school year 1985-86, Mrs. Beagen was honored as Teacher of the Year for Merrywood Elementary School. In December 1997, she was recognized by The United Way as Volunteer of the Month for her outstanding service to the Greenwood Literacy Council where she served as a volunteer tutor to the Adult Literacy Council. Mrs. Beagen also served Guardian Ad Litem for children of Greenwood County and served as coordinator of the Spanish Summer School Project in 1980.
Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are a daughter, Coleen Beagen and husband, Paul Griffith of New York City; three sons, Michael Beagen of Greenwood, Brian and wife, Tammy Beagen of Columbia and Patrick and wife, Kathryn Beagen of Spartanburg; sisters, Donna Marie and husband, Robert Parcha of Livonia, MI; Mary Gayle and husband, Philip Zimmerman of Novi, MI; brothers, Gerald Thomas and wife, Clara Perkins, James Dalton and wife, Lisa Perkins of Traverse City, MI and Mark David Perkins and wife, Claire Weipert of Centennial, CO; three grandchildren, Lawrence B. Beagen, Francis S. Beagen and Riley D. Griffith. Mrs. Beagen was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Ann Viscosi.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11am Thursday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Rev. Father Richard Harris officiating.
Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Beagen, Dennis Beagen, Philip Zimmerman, Robert Parcha, John Deloach, Bill Smith, Bill McClain, Charles Piontek, William Dixon and Yohan Loman.
The body is at Blyth Funeral Home where a Prayer Service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
The family is at the home in Grand Harbor and will receive friends at Blyth Funeral Home immediately following the prayer service until 8 p.m.

Teresa Beshers
NINETY SIX — Teresa Boone Beshers, 49, of 109 N. Cambridge St., wife of James R. Beshers, died Monday, May 24, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Atlanta, she was a daughter of the late Betty Greene Bonsall. She was a former employee of Wal-Mart and a member of First Baptist Church in Ninety Six.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a daughter, Seneca Beshers and a son, James Benjamin Beshers, both of the home.
A private funeral service is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is 6-8 tonight at Blyth Funeral Home.
The family is at the home.

Jean Sampson Cybulski
SOUTH RIVER, N.J. — Jean Sampson Cybulski, 73, widow of Joseph F. Cybulski, died Saturday, May 22, 2004 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge Division.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she lived in Greenwood, S.C., for three years, in South River for six years and in East Brunswick for 35 years. She was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge, and a member of East Brunswick Suburban Art Guild.
Survivors include two daughters, Roxanne Maxson of South River and Bernadette Epperson of Houston; two sons, Joseph Cybulski of Long Branch and Mark Cybulski of South River; two sisters, Joan Testen of Sayre, Pa., and Florence Grivner of Wilkes-Barre; a brother, William Sampson of Maryland; seven grandchildren.
Services are 8:15 a.m. Thursday at Rezem Funeral Home, and a Mass of Christian Burial is 9 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Burial is in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Rezem Funeral Home, 457 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick, is in charge.

Dale Hannah
WARE SHOALS — Brenda Dale Hannah, 55, died Sunday, May 23, 2004 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital in Winnsboro.
A daughter of the late Louie Calvin and Robbie Saxon Hannah, she was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include two brothers, Calvin Hannah of Hodges and Randy Hannah of Ware Shoals and a sister, Shirley Saxon of Greenwood.
Graveside services are 1 p.m. today in Greenwood Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Nene Reynolds. Pallbearers are Tyrone Brock, Phil Ashley, John B. Ashley, Gene Saxon, Jimmy Ray Sweezy, Jamie Saxon and Michael Hannah.
Visitation is graveside after the services.
The family is at the home of Calvin Hannah, 300 Shirley Road, Hodges.
Parker-White Funeral Home is in charge.

Sarah ‘Hassie’ Mathis Klugh
GREENWOOD – Sarah “Hassie” Mathis Klugh, 88, of 1524 Park-way Drive, Cardinal Glen Apts. Apt. 601, widow of Arnett Klugh Sr., died Sunday, May 23, 2004 at her home.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late P.C. Mathis and Anica Chiles Mathis. She was a member and mother of Beulah Baptist Church. She was a Sunday School treasurer for 72 years, a Deaconess, a member of the Senior Choir, an active member in the Missionary Organization and the Willing Workers Organization of the church. She was in the Order of Eastern Star Electa Chapter No. 310.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Minnie Hart and Peggy Turner and a grandchild, Dannielle Sarah Klugh.
Survivors include three sons, Arnett Klugh Jr. of Columbia, Robert (Sarah) E. Klugh of Abbeville and Jerry (Verdie) Klugh of Greenwood; a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Linda Klugh) Marshall of Greenwood; four brothers, B.J. (Estelle) Mathis of Greenville, Bennie (Elizabeth) Mathis Sr., Howard Mathis, and Charles (Matilda) Mathis, all of Greenwood; five sisters, Marie Mathis of Edgefield, Susie Mathis, Nannie Fisher, Dorothy Mathis and Virginia Watson, all of Greenwood; four grandchildren, Dr. Arnett Klugh III of Palto Alto, Calif., Stephen T. Klugh of Houston, Texas , Robin Klugh and Brandi Klugh of Abbeville; four great-grandsons, Arnett Klugh IV, Christopher Klugh, Nichalis Klugh and Milton Klugh, all of Palto Alto, Calif.; two great-granddaughters, Darian Adams and Hannah Klugh, both of Houston, Texas ; a devoted niece and care giver, Mrs. Rosa Carroll of Greenwood; several nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Beulah Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Warren Gist. Assisting are Presiding Elder O.A. Klugh and the Revs. Michael Butler, Norris Turner, Eddie Freeman, Johnnie Waller and Patricia Tolbert. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in Evening Star Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are nephews and Dennis Byrd and Nelson Smith.
Flower bearers are nieces.
Honorary escorts are Dr. John Holman, Deacon and Mrs. Nathaniel Patterson, Mr. and Mrs. H.L. Briggs and members of the Order of the Eastern Star, Electra Chapter No. 310.
Visitation is 7-8 Wednesday at Robinson & Son Mortuary.
The family is at the home of her son, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Klugh, 408 Twisted Oak Drive, Broken Ridge Subdivision.

Sadie Bell Norman
McCORMICK — Sadie Bell Morrison Norman, 84, widow of Isaac “Big Boy” Norman, died Monday, May 24, 2004 at her home.
Born in McCormick County, she was a daughter of the late Gary and Katie Lou Robinson Morrison. She was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church, where she served as Missionary Society president, church secretary and a Sunday School teacher and was a member of the Singing Convention and Senior Choir. She was also a member of Bethany Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star and Women’s Home Aide Society No. 89.
Survivors include a son, Joe Lee Norman of the home; a sister, Ella Mae Glenn of Detroit; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home, 206 Mims Drive.
Services will be announced by Walker Funeral Home.

Eunice F. Patterson
ABBEVILLE — Eunice Fisher Patterson, 98, widow of Harold A. Patterson, died Monday, May 24, 2004 at Ellenburg Nursing Center, Anderson.
Services will be announced by Harris Funeral Home.

Services for Gregory “Pepsi” Pope, of 206 Beadle Ave., are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Tabernacle of Faith, conducted by the Rev. Velma Williford. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in Evening Star Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Mark Logan, Wendall Brown, Jermaine Lindsey, Carl Irvin, Sam Haley and Jason Logan.
Flower bearers are the ladies of the church.
Visitation is 7-8 tonight at Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of his mother, Carrie B. Pope Tenner, 43 Stockman Ave.

Elma Shirley
ABBEVILLE – Elma Ruth McKee Shirley, 79, resident of 29 Marshall Road, wife of Johnny Marshall Shirley, died May 24, 2004 at her home.
Born in Honea Path, June 24, 1924 she was the daughter of the late George Raymond and Claudia Martin McKee. She was formerly employed by Eastwill Sportswear and retired from Greenwood Industries.
A member of Hodges Church of God, she was also a member of Silverbells Sunday School Class.
Surviving in addition to her husband of the home, are four sons, Raymond Carl Shirley, Sr. of Waterloo, Gary Claude Shirley and James Mitchell Shirley, both of Abbeville, and Marshall Ray Shirley of Hodges, one daughter, Gwendolyn Ruth Reed of Williamston, three sisters, Kathleen Davis of Greenwood, Roberta Lipe of McCormick and Bobbie Lee Bowers of Prosperity, fifteen grandchildren and twenty-nine great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Shirley was predeceased by two daughters, Johnnie Faye Shirley and Sara Ann Shirley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon Wednesday at Hodges Church of God with Rev. Charles Caldwell and Rev. J.B. Redd officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Carl Shirley, Jason Shirley, Kevin Shirley, Brian Shirley, Bengie Shirley, Austin Shirley, Dustin Shirley, Marshall Reed, Brandon Reed and Nick Mountz.
The family is at the home of her son, Mike Shirley, 78 Marshall Road, Abbeville and will receive friends from 6 to 8pm Tuesday at Blyth Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Hodges Church of God, Hwy. 25 N., Hodges, SC 29653.

Henry S. Timms
GREENVILLE — Henry Sylvester Timms, 61, of 15 Bennett St., formerly of Abbeville, died Saturday, May 22, 2004 at his home.
Born in Abbeville, he was a son of the late Toby and Ruby Hammond Timms. He was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Deanna Timms of Atlanta and two sisters, Cornelia Barrett of Greenville and Mary “Kitty” Cochran of Wilmington, N.C.
Memorials services are 4 p.m. Wednesday at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville.
