Bill Spivey
Billy Ray “Bill” Spivey, 71, resident of 1802 Marshall Road, husband of Bejetta Franklin Spivey, died June 3, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood County, November 7, 1932, he was a son of the late Floyd and Marie Little Spivey. He was a 1951 graduate of Greenwood High School and attended Lander College. He was a US Army Veteran and was retired from Greenwood Mills Service Department.
A member and former Deacon of Callie Self Memorial Baptist Church, he was also a member of the James Bailey Sunday School Class.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are a brother, James E. “Bubba” and wife, Angell Spivey of Greenwood; a sister-in-law, Nira M. Spivey of Greenwood; six nieces and six nephews.
Mr. Spivey was predeceased by a brother, Carl L. Spivey.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3PM Sunday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leland Scott officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Stan Spivey, Scott Spivey, Danny Spivey, Donnie Roberts, Jerry Roberts, Steve Franklin, Frank Kuchta and Jason Hamrick.
Honorary escort will be the current and former deacons of Callie Self Memorial Baptist Church, members of the James Bailey Sunday School Class along with Eddie Byrd, Gene Ouzts, Ray Bowick, Jay Walker, Larry Rollison and Tommy Butler.
The family is at the home on Marshall Road and will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 3 Sunday afternoon.
Memorials may be made to Callie Self Memorial Baptist Church, 509 Kirksey Drive, Greenwood, SC 29646.

Ann Banister
BRADLEY — Ann Steifle Banister, 71, resident of 5112 Hwy 221 S., widow of John Allen Banister, III, died Saturday, June 5, 2004 at her residence.
Born in Bradley, November 6, 1932, she was a daughter of the late William Thomas and Gladys McCarty Steifle. Mrs. Banister was a graduate of Greenwood High School and operated Steifle’s Grocery in Bradley for many years after having been previously employed by Dr. Richard M. Christian.
She was a member of Horeb Baptist Church, a member and treasurer of the Adult Sunday School Class, and a member of the WMU of the church.
Surviving are a daughter, Debbie S. and husband Roger Dillashaw of Bradley, a son, John Thomas Banister of the home, and a sister, Thomasene S. Williams of Bradley.
Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Horeb Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Bennie Ridlehoover officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Tullis, Bill Walker, Smith Steifle, Nick Brown, Bob Haughey, Bill Steifle, Craig Opperman, Eddie Dorn, David Morrah, Jr., and Douglas Goode.
Honorary escort will be J.T. Dillashaw, Randy Williamson, James Jackson, and Jim Brewer.
The family is at the home in Bradley and will receive friends in the church immediately following the service.

Sammie L. ‘Sam’ Butler
KIRKSEY — Sammie L. “Sam” Butler, 72, of 2716 Scotts Ferry Road, died Sunday, June 6, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Edgefield County, he was a son of the late Lawyer Butler and Joyce Holloway Butler. He was retired from the Roller Mill. He was a member of Springfield Baptist Church, Edgefield County, where he was a deacon, vice president and member of the choir, Sunday School superintendent and the church treasurer. He was a member of Pleasant Lane Burial Aide Society, the Moore Masonic Lodge No. 68 and a former volunteer fireman of Kirksey.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Mack Butler, of the home; and a brother, Hillary L. Butler of Long Island, N.Y.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc.

Irene L. Leach
ABBEVILLE — Services for Irene Leach are 1 p.m. Tuesday at Shady Grove A.M.E. Church, conducted by the Revs. Robert Johnson and Larry Merrill. The body will be placed n the church at noon. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Sylvester Anderson
DONALDS — Sylvester Anderson, 88, of 65 Blakedale Drive, widower of Dollie Jackson Anderson, died Monday, June 7, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood.
The family is at the home of a son, John Anderson, 309 Virgin Drive, Hodges.
Services will be announced by Robinson-Walker Funeral Service, Ware Shoals.

John Furman Lindley
WARE SHOALS — John Furman Lindley, 96, of 179 Maddox Bridge Road, widower of Allene Pearson Lindley, died Monday, June 7, 2004.
A native of Greenville County, he was a son of the late James Henry and Mattie Henderson Lindley. He retired from Riegel Textile Corp. and was the oldest charter member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Ronnie F. Lindley of Ware Shoals and Farrell Lindley of Johnsonville; a sister, Grace Coker of Pelzer; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
Services are 3 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Buddy Wiles and the Rev. Billy Slatten. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are John Lindley, Greg Lindley, Bobby Hinton, Joe Cirillo, Robert Sonny Dean and Jimmy Weathers.
Honorary escorts are members of the Fred O’Dell Sunday School Class. Visitation is 2-3 Wednesday at the church.
The family is at the home of Ronnie Lindley, 15 Higgins Drive.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 340 Main St., Greenwood, SC 29646.

James McKittrick Sr.
CLINTON — James A. McKittrick Sr., 73, of 1236 Garlington Road, husband of Marie A. McKittrick, died Sunday, June 6, 2004 at Magnolia Manor in Greenwood.
Born in Covington, Va., he was a son of the late George William and Frances Johnson McKittrick. He retired from the Air Force and Torrington Bearing Co. He was a member of Mountville Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Russell McKittrick of Charlotte, N.C., and James A. McKittrick Jr. of Greenwood; two daughters, Lynn McClurkin of Greenwood and Laurie Hefty of Greenville; five brothers, George William McKittrick Jr. of Laurens, Raymond McKittrick of Suffolk, Va., Robert McKittrick of Belton, Harold McKittrick of Anderson and Thomas McKittrick of Simpsonville; three sisters, Gray Barker of Cross Hill, Sara Moon of Joanna and Sylvia Tinsley of Mountville; eight grandchildren.’
Graveside services are 2 p.m. Wednesday in Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation is 7-9 tonight at Gray Funeral Home.

Robert W. White
LAKE JUNALUSKA, N.C. — Robert W. White, 79, of Stuart Circle, died Sunday, June 6, 2004 at his home.
A native of Newberry, S.C., he was a son of the late Julian W. and Eva Mae Walling White. He attended primary and secondary schools in Columbia and Greenwood, S.C., attended The Citadel in Charleston, S.C., and received an electrical engineering degree from Clemson College. Serving in the Army Corps of Engineers in Europe during World War II, he worked for Lockhart (SC) Power Co. in engineering and supervisory positions. In 1955, he joined General Electric Co. Outdoor Lighting Department, Hendersonville, as a manufacturing engineer. He transferred to GE’s Appliance Motor Department at DeKalb, Ill., where he worked until retiring in 1988. A registered professional engineer, he was awarded six patents related to his service with GE. He was a precinct committeeman in DeKalb for 28 years and served in Lions Clubs in DeKalb and Lake Junaluska. He was a member of the Methodist Church, most recently of First United Methodist Church in Waynesville where he served in many capacities.
Survivors include his wife, Nora White White; four sons, Ronald C. White of Chicago, Robert L. “Larry” White of North Augusta, S.C., David B. White of Pendleton, S.C., and W. Eric White of Simpsonville, S.C.; five grandchildren.
A memorial service is 2 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Waynesville. Visitation is after the service.
Graveside services are 2 p.m. Friday in Oakbrook Memorial Park, Greenwood, S.C.

Sylvester Anderson
DONALDS — Sylvester Anderson, 88, of 65 Blakedale Drive, widower of Dollie Jackson Anderson, died Monday, June 7, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood.
Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late Edgar and Mary Butler Anderson. He retried from Riegel Textiles and was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church, where he was a senior trustee.
Survivors include two sons, John Sylvester Anderson of Hodges and Nickie Jerome Anderson of Norwalk, Conn.; four daughters, Mary Joyce Posley of Rockford, Ill., Albertine Daniels of Norwalk, Vivian Hodges and Patricia Williams, both of Hodges; three brothers, Clinton Anderson of Mauldin, A.D. Anderson of Donalds and Perry Anderson of Jamaica, N.Y.; two sisters, Earlee Johnson of Jamaica and Eula Mae Morton of Donalds; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. Services are 1 p.m. Thursday at New Friendship Baptist Church, Honea Path, conducted by the Revs. Harold Johnson and Wendell Cox. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Viewing begins at 2 p.m. today at Robinson-Walker Funeral Service. There will be no wake.
The family is at the home of a son, John Anderson, 309 Virgin Drive, Hodges.

Pallbearers are members of Moore Masonic Lodge No. 68.
Flower bearers are members of W.H. McCain Young Adult Choir and church ushers.
Honorary escorts are church deacons and trustees.
Visitation is Thursday evening at the home.

DuBose infants
CALHOUN FALLS — Infant twins, a son and a daughter of Lerryn Davis and Darryl DuBose, died Tuesday, June 8, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood.
Survivors include the mother of Calhoun Falls; the father of Elberton, Ga.; a brother, Tyreek DuBose of Calhoun Falls; paternal grandparents, Helen and Richard DuBose of Elberton; maternal grandparents, Ernestine Gray and Larry Davis, both of Calhoun Falls.
Services and burial are at noon Thursday at the home of a grandmother, Ernestine Gray, 255 Flatwood Road, with the Rev. Delcinia Jamison officiating.
Abbeville & White Mortuary is in charge.

Rev. Carlos Belcher
ABBEVILLE — The Rev. Carlos Jacob Belcher Sr., 75, of 907 Sharon Heights Road, husband of Lucia McNeely Belcher, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004 at his home.
Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Ernest J. and Susie Edwards Belcher. He was the pastor and a member of Stone of Bethel Holiness Church and a part-time truck driver for Abbeville County Landfill. He was an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife of the home; four daughters, Sue B. Grammas of Easley, Wanda B. Caldwell of Woodruff, Beth McClure of Shelby, N.C., and Sheila Daniels of Naples, Fla.; four sons, Carlos J. Belcher Jr. and Thomas E. Belcher, both of Easley, Donald C. Belcher of Naples and J. Hal Belcher of Travelers Rest; a brother, Claude E. Belcher of Travelers Rest; a sister, Evelyn Miller of Easley; 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are 3 p.m. Sunday in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Easley, conducted by the Rev. Roy Goodsen.
Visitation is 3-4 p.m. Friday at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home.

Terry W. Shuford
SALUDA – Terry Wayne Shuford, 69, of 9201 Highway 178 South, Saluda, husband of Eddie Lue Mitchell Shuford, died Wednesday, June 09, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Easley, he was a son of the late Henry Guy and Eunice Amelia Kinard Shuford. He was retired from Monsanto and was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Adult Men’s Sunday School Class.
Surviving is his wife of the home; two daughters, Peggy Sue Guinn of Greenwood and Shelby Lynn Archambault of Waterloo; two sons, Lance Edward Shuford of Greenwood and Guy Wayne Shuford of Ft. Drum, NY; a sister, Jeanine Madden Garvin of Anderson; two grandchildren, Taylor Marie Archambault and Paige Lorraine Archambault, with another grandchild due in November.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Good Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Justice officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mark Madden, Randy Waites, Brian Weaver, Darren Hutto, Brice Walker, Ricky Hutto and Scott Mitchell.
The family will receive friends at Harley Funeral Home on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. The body will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
