McCORMICK — Frank Patterson, 50, of 617 Brown St., died Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at his home.
Born in McCormick, he was a son of the late Dorothy Patterson. He worked in yard maintenance and was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include a sister, Betty Harper of McCormick; five brothers, Eric Patterson of Washington , D.C., David Patterson and Ray Patterson, both of McCormick, Allen Patterson of Rock Hill and James Patterson of Florida.
Services are 1 p.m. Friday at Walker Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. James W. Price. Burial is in Overbrook Cemetery.
The family is at the home of his guardian, Lula Jane Middleton, 617 Brown St.

Rayford Powell
PORT ORANGE, Fla. — Denver Rayford Powell, 70, of Jeffery Drive, widower of Sharon Powell, died Monday, July 12, 2004 at Lucerne Regional Medical Center, Orlando.
Born in Ware Shoals, S.C., he was a son of the late John Denver and Mable Louise Elledge Powell. He was retired from the Army and the Norfolk Southern Railroad.
Survivors include five sons, John Powell and Jason Powell, both of Port Orange, Timothy Powell of Avon Park, Mark Powell of Weston and Benjamin Powell of Poland; a daughter, Sharon Powell of Ocala; a sister, Glenda Dawkins of Altoona; a brother, Wayne Powell of Greenwood, S.C.; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at a later date.
Memorials may be made to West Side Baptist Church, P.O. Box 216, Greenwood, SC 29648 or to a charity of one’s choice.

Daniel Reid Jr.
McCORMICK — Daniel Reid Jr., 84, of Highway 81 North, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Augusta, Ga.
Born in Calhoun Falls, he was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and served as an elder in McCormick and New Jersey for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Reid of the home; 13 children; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is 3 p.m. Saturday at the McCormick Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, conducted by Brother Dennis Johnson.
The family is at the home.

‘Lib’ Drummond
NINETY SIX — Elizabeth Carter “Lib” Drummond, 85, formerly of Ninety Six, widow of Alvin R. “Blackie” Drummond, died Thursday, July 15, 2004.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Harley Funeral Home, Greenwood.
The family is at the Drummond Lake House on Coldwater Drive, Greenwood Shores, Ninety Six.
Services will be announced by Harley Funeral Home.

Bessie F. Linzey
ABBEVILLE — Services for Bessie F. Linzey, of Apartment 52 Woodview Lane, are 2 p.m. Saturday at Haigler Street Church of Christ, Taylor Town Road, conducted by Brother Raymond Pressley, assisted by Brother I.V. White. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in Harbison Cemetery.
Pallbearers and flower bearers are friends of the family.
Viewing is 11 a.m.-8 p.m. today at Abbeville & White Mortuary.
The family is at the home of a granddaughter, Donna Ramey, 609 Poplar St., Abbeville.

WARE SHOALS — Bishop Earnest Carl Richmond Sr., 69, of 25 Briar St., died Thursday, July 15, 2004 at his home.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Robinson-Walker Funeral Service.

Lilly Bell Stinson
MARIETTA, Ga. — Lilly Bell Silkwood Stinson, 81, of Parc at Piedmont, widow of John Arthur Stinson, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at Haven House Hospice, Atlanta.
Born in Cowgill, Caldwell County, Mo., she was a homemaker and had lived in St. Joseph, Mo., Baton Rouge, La., New Orleans, Atlanta, Apopka, Fla., and McCormick, S.C.
Survivors include two sons, J. Edward Stinson of Roswell, Ga., and Roger K. Stinson of Lincolnton; a granddaughter.
Services are 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel, 3205 N. Highway 81, Anderson, S.C. Entombment is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens, Greenwood, S.C.
Visitation is 11-12:30 Saturday at the mortuary.
Memorials may be made to Haven House Hospice, 5411 Northland Drive, Atlanta, GA 30342.
Sullivan-King Mortuary is in charge.

Rosa Lee Aiken
ABBEVILLE — Rosa Lee Paul Aiken, 59, of 1818 Secession Ave. Extension, wife of Raymond Aiken, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004 in Greenwood.
Born in Abbeville, she was a daughter of the late John W. and Georgia Foster Paul. She was a member of Cypress Chapel A.M.E. Church, the Trustee Board, WMS and was a stewardess. She was an employee at Solutia.
Survivors include her husband; two brothers, George Paul of Atlanta and David Paul of Greenville; a sister, Georgia Paul of Abbeville.
Services are 3 p.m. Sunday at Cypress Chapel A.M.E. Church, conducted by the Rev. Myron D. Hill. Burial is in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The body will be placed in the church at 2.
Pallbearers are church trustees.
Flower bearers are church WMS members and stewardesses and Geneva Jackson.
Honorary escorts are Benny Hill and James Aiken.
Viewing is 11 a.m.-8 p.m. today at Richie Funeral Home.
The family is at the home.

Lib Drummond
NINETY SIX – Elizabeth Carter “Lib” Drummond, 85, formerly of Ninety Six, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 15, 2004 after an extended illness.
She was born in Dyson, SC on February 17, 1919 to the late Samuel and Rosa Carter. She was married to the late Alvin “Blackie” Drummond. Lib was very active in her church, Cambridge United Methodist in Ninety Six. She was a member of Star Fort National Golf Club, Order of the Eastern Star and was a member on the 1936 State Championship Basketball Team. She retired from Greenwood Mills, Adams Plant.
Lib brought joy and delight to all who knew her. She had a great sense of humor, enjoyed by her friends and family.
She resided with daughter, Diane, at 1336 Royal Devon Drive, Myrtle Beach.
Surviving are Diane Drummond Nance and John DuPre of Myrtle Beach, Darrell and Julia Drummond of Greenville, Sam and Kay Drummond of Mt. Pleasant, Sara Beasley of Greenwood; grandchildren, Brian and Dawn Drummond, Brad Drummond, Dan and Meghan Nance, Dek and Whitney Nance, great grandchildren, Keesley Anne Drummond, Sam Drummond, Matthew Nance, Cal Drummond and Aidan Nance.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Cambridge United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gayle Summey officiating. Entombment will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens Chapel Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Brian Drummond, Dan Nance, Brad Drummond, Dek Nance.
Honorary escort will be nephews and Conservation Officers of the SC Department of Natural Resources.
The family will receive friends at Harley Funeral Home on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
The family is at the Drummond Lake House on Coldwater Drive, Greenwood Shores, Ninety Six.

Dennis Moseley
CHAPPELLS — Dennis Moseley, 88, formerly of Chappells, widower of Marie Marler Moseley, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Chesnee, he was a son of the late Andy and Carl Scroggs Moseley. He was retired from Lawton Lumber Co.
Survivors include two sons, James Moseley of Saluda and Robert Moseley of Greenville; a daughter, Janet Crompton of Marietta; a sister, Jenette Werts of Saluda; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Services are 4 p.m. Sunday at Hickory Grove Advent Christian Church, conducted by Bud Billings. Burial is in Hickory Grove Cemetery.
Visitation is 2-3:30 Sunday in the education building of the church.
The family is at the home.

Earnest Richmond Sr.
WARE SHOALS — Bishop Earnest Carl Richmond Sr., 69, of 25 Briar St., widower of Nellie Mae Allen Richmond, died Thursday, July 15, 2004 at his home.
Born in Roxboro, N.C., he was a son of the late Willie and Annie Bell Richmond. He attended North Carolina public schools and North Carolina Central College. He was a bishop in the Church of God of Prophecy and a member of the Church of Prophecy Marker Association, the church Ways & Means Committee and the Finance Committee at state headquarters in Batesburg. His last pastorate was the Church of God of Prophecy in Richland.
Survivors include three daughters, Catherine R. Jefferson and Deborah Aline Rice of Ware Shoals, Angela Denise Tolbert of Greenwood; four sons, Earnest Carl Richmond Jr. of Chester, Stevenson Jeremiah Richmond and Willie Ivan Richmond of Greenville, Clement Otto Richmond of Honea Path; three sisters, Ellen Bumphus and Mary Winstead of Roxboro, Brenda Luster of Baltimore; 22 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Monday at Dunn Creek Baptist Church, conducted by Bishops Roosevelt Ashford and Kenneth Baker. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Viewing begins at noon Sunday at Robinson-Walker Funeral Service.
No wake is planned.

Pearl White Sherod
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Pearl White Sherod, 64, widow of Hezekiah Sherod, of 2524 Lone Oak Drive, formerly of Honea Path, S.C., died Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at a nursing center in Nashville.
A daughter of the late Will and Ollie Thomas White, she was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church until she moved to Tennessee.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Harkless of Murfreesboro and five brothers, Robert Black and Walter White, both of Honea Path, Theodore Hawthorne of Ware Shoals, S.C., Claude White of Anderson, S.C., and Roosevelt White of Detroit.
Services are 3 p.m. Sunday at Johnson Funeral Home, Anderson, conducted by the Rev. William Cowans. Burial is in Anderson Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is 7-8 tonight at the Johnson-Stewart Chapel, Honea Path.

Frank Smith
Edgar Franklin “Frank” Smith, 70, of 1238 Emerald Road, husband of Sandra Wells Smith, died Thursday, July 15, 2004 at his home.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Ed and Lou Rachels Smith. He was an Air Force veteran and served in the National Guard. Retiring from Kemet, he later worked with Parke-Davis and Chick Medical Products and retired from Security Forces. He was a member of Jordan Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Thomas Stephen Stancill of Georgia; a daughter, Brenda Kaye Burkhalter of Laurens; a sister, Marion Ruff of Greenwood; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild.
Services are 3 p.m. Sunday at Blyth Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Bobby Davis. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Roy Smith, Steve Scruggs, Eddie Driver, Dennis Smith, Rodney Smith, Gene Manley and Leroy Smith.
Visitation is 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646.
