Joseph ‘Danny’ Johnson Jr.
ABBEVILLE — Joseph Daniel “Danny” Johnson Jr., 40, of 98 Lonesome Dove Road, died Thursday, July 22, 2004 at his home.
Born in Orangeburg, he was a son of the late Joseph Daniel Johnson Sr., and Billie Jean Todd of Abbeville. He was a graduate of Abbeville High School and attended Georgia Medical College. He was a former manager of a Winn-Dixie store on Hilton Head Island and a former manager of a Hardees Franchise in North Carolina. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Survivors include his mother of the home; a sister, Mary Louise Gilmer of Abbeville; four brothers, James Miller Beauford, Steven Randall Beauford, Gregory Glen Beauford, all of Abbeville, and James David Johnson of Tampa, Fla.
Services are at 2 Saturday at The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home. Burial is in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of a brother, Mr. and Mrs. Randy Beauford, 117 Union Church Road, Abbeville.
The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home is in charge.

Emily Mosley
Emily Mosley, 54, of 1508 Garden Parkway, died Thursday, July 22, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Emma Mosley and the adopted daughter of Annie Patterson. She was formerly employed as a canteen worker by a banking institution. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Meridian, Miss., and attended Lutheran Church in Brooklyn.
Survivors include her adoptive mother; two brothers, Kenneth Mosley and Samuel Mosley, both of Brooklyn; and a sister, Amelia Mosley of Brooklyn.
Services are at 1 Sunday at Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Jonathan Greene. Burial is in Evening Star Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers and flower bearers are friends of the family.
Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home is in charge.

Rachel Rice
WARE SHOALS — Mrs. Rachel Rodgers Rice, 85, of 49 Cemetery Road, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at NHC HealthCare, Greenwood, SC.
She was born in Laurens County, SC, was a homemaker and a member of Walnut Grove AME Church.
She was the widow of Paul Rice and was also preceded in death by two sons, Oscar and Samuel Rice. Survivors: Daughter-in-law, Eyvonne Rice, Ware Shoals, SC; Brother, Johnny Rodger, Lexington, NC, grandson, Christopher Rice, and two great-granddaughters, all of Greenville, SC.
Funeral services are Saturday at 11 am at Robinson-Walker Funeral Home. Burial in Walnut Grove AME church cemetery.
No wake is planned.
The family is at the home.

Willie H. Teague
TRAVELERS REST — Willie Hunter Teague, 64, of 360 Duncan Road, husband of Thelma Silvers Teague, died Monday, July 19, 2004 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Newberry County, he was a son of the late Charles Pinckney and Una Mae Hendrix Teague. He was a member of the Princeton Masonic Lodge, the National Guard, Cox Chapel Baptist Church and the Newberry Armory. He was retired from Torrington in Clinton.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Janet Teague of Greenwood, Angie Dunn of Marietta, and Kim Norman of Ninety Six; two sons, Jeffery Teague and Joey Teague, both of Gray Court; two brothers, Charles Teague of Sevierville, Tenn., and Donnie Teague of Easley; and 14 grandchildren.
Services are at 2 today at Cox Chapel Baptist Church. Burial is in the church cemetery.
The family is at 166 Cobblestone Drive, Gray Court and 105 Carswell Ave., Marietta.

Edith McKinney Aycock
LINCOLNTON, Ga. — Edith McKinney Aycock, 78, of 393 Sunrise Drive, wife of Boyd M. Aycock, died Thursday, July 22, 2004 after an extended illness.
Born in Lincolnton, she was a daughter of the late Horace and Rosalie McKinney. She was a member of Lincolnton Baptist Church, where she taught in the nursery for 49 years. A member of the Homer Legg Chapter of the Eastern Star, she was a Past Worthy Matron and secretary, a past president of the Lincolnton Garden Club and treasurer of the Lincolnton Cemetery Fund. She served as chief registrar for Lincoln County for 17 years and was a substitute teacher, preschool teacher, Cub Scout den mother and Girl Scout leader for Brownie Troop and Girl Scout Troop No. 77.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a daughter, Mrs. James “Coot” (Patricia) Henderson of Ninety Six, S.C.; three sons, Bobby Aycock of Minneapolis, Marion Aycock and Ronald Aycock, both of Lincolnton; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother, Carlton McKinney of McCormick, S.C.
Services are 4 p.m. Sunday at Lincolnton Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Gary Johnson, Lanis Lewis and Paul Reviere. Burial is in Lincolnton City Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Grady Ridlehover, Bob Dozier, Barry Chastain, Alex Aycock, Alva Aycock and grandsons Travis Aycock, Tripp Henderson and Russell Aycock.
Honorary escorts are members of the Eastern Star.
Memorials may be made to Lincolnton City Cemetery Fund, c/o Farmers State Bank, P.O. Box 99, Lincolnton, GA 30817.
Visitation is 7-9 tonight at Rees Funeral Home.

James Crawford
ABBEVILLE — James Price Crawford, 90, of Carlisle Nursing Center, Due West, formerly of 1867 Highway 28 N., widower of Ethel Link Crawford, died Friday, July 23, 2004 at the nursing center.
Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late Calvin Winn and Mary Price Crawford. He was a retired mail rural carrier with the U.S. Postal Service. After retirement, he raised cattle and was a farmer. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of Lebanon Presbyterian Church.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Survivors include a cousin, Mike Price, who was reared in the home.
Graveside services are 4 p.m. Sunday at Long Cane Cemetery.
Visitation is 6-8 tonight at The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Price, 200 Oak Knoll Road, Abbeville.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646.

Christine F. Fortune
Christine Fisher Fortune, 88, of 115 S. University St., widow of Hubert Fortune, died Friday, July 23, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Edgefield County, she was a daughter of the late Luke and Bell Walker Fisher. She retired as a dietician from Brewer High School. She was a member of Morris Chapel Baptist Church, Rochelle Chapter No. 298 Order of the Eastern Star and the University Street Community Club.
Survivors include three sons, Clarence Morton and Hubert Fisher, both of Greenwood, Albert Morton of Aiken; four daughters, Margaret Thomas and Brenda Christian, both of Greenwood, Julia Moore of Abbeville, Lolita Randolf of Greensboro, N.C.; two brothers, Woodrow Fisher of Greenwood and Luke Fisher of Washington , D.C.; two sisters, Ethel Bailey and Ollie Watson, both of Washington , D.C.; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home.

Lucy Kay
Lucy Leona Kay, 79, formerly of Ninety Six, died Friday, July 23, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Central, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Nora Corbin Kay. She retired from Greenwood Mills, Ninety Six Plant, where she was a member of the Quarter Century Club. She was a member of West Side Baptist Church and a former member of First Baptist Church in Ninety Six, where she was a member of the Winsome Sunday School Class.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Hal Lane. Burial is in Edgewood Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Eddie Bartless, Bob Oliver, Parks Oliver, William Long and Gerald Pitts.
Honorary escorts are members of the Winsome TEL Sunday School Class and friends from West Side Baptist Church.
Visitation is 1-2 Sunday at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of a niece, Joyce Bartless, 304 Plantation Drive.

Grace Chapman Boiter
PRAIRIEVILLE, LA. — Grace Chapman Boiter, 80, formerly of Duncan, SC, died on Thursday, July 22, 2004 at the Gonzales Health Care Center in Gonzales, LA.
Born on September 16, 1923 in Duncan, SC, she was a resident of Prairieville, LA for the past 6 years, and the daughter of the late Landrum and Lavada Bragg Chapman.
She was a member of the Church of Christ in Duncan, SC.
She is survived by: two daughters: Mary Boiter Morris and her husband Robert of Baton Rouge, LA and Patricia Boiter Henderson and her husband Allen of Waterloo, SC; a son: William Marvin Boiter and his wife Gloria of Orange, TX; a brother: Buy Chapman of Greer, SC; two sisters: Mildred C. Gibson of Lyman, SC and Delores C. Glynn of Duncan, SC; two half brothers: Kenneth and Ernest Fowler of Duncan, SC; two half sisters: Barbara Fowler Burrell of Duncan, SC and Frankie Fowler Pustover of Charlotte, NC; eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her husband of 50 years, Toy N. Boiter.
Visitation will be held at Memorial Mausoleum in Woodlawn Memorial Park on Wednesday, July 28, 2004 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon.
Services will begin at 12:00 noon in Memorial Mausoleum and conducted by Rev. Dane Wagoner of Duncan Church of Christ, entombment will follow.

John Henry Griffin
John Henry Griffin, 76, of 213 Tompkins St., husband of Pearl Fuller Griffin, died Tuesday, July 21, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late Mary and J.C. Griffin. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of the home; four sons, John H. Freeman of Greenwood, Marion, Larry and Douglas Griffin, all of Philadelphia; four daughters, Bonnie and Sharon Griffin of Philadelphia, Johnnie Mac and Mary Lee Fuller of Greenwood; two sisters, Ruby and Helen Griffin of Greenwood; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Monday at Parks Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. James Moss. Burial is in Evening Star Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Dexter Freeman, David Belcher, Jammie Bowman, Robert Palmore Sr., Sammie Baylor and Albert Agnew.
Flower bearers are friends of the family.
The family is at the home.

Louis B. Howard
ABBEVILLE — Louis B. Howard, 81, husband of the late Sudie Madden Howard, died Saturday, July 24, 2004 at the Anderson Area Medical Center. Mr. Howard was born in Abbeville to the late John S. and Martha F. Smith Howard. Mr. Howard served in WWII in the United States Navy. He was a Barber in Columbia for 20 years, and then a maintenance supervisor in S.C. State House for many years before retirement.
Surviving Mr. Howard is his brother, Raiford Howard of Abbeville, three sisters, Vera Wilson of Abbeville, Orene Young of Anderson, and Kittie Mae Hawkins of Abbeville.
The family will receive friends 9:00AM to 10:00 AM Monday, July 26, 2004 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow on Monday at 10:00AM in the funeral home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Marion Argo. Interment will be in Melrose Cemetery.

HODGES — Services for Benny Lee Johnson are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pine Grove A.M.E. Church, conducted by the Rev. James J. Robinson, assisted by the Revs. Jerry Aiken, Tommy L. Stanford, John Aiken, Albert Thompson and Stephen Lomax. The body will be placed in the church at 1.
Burial is in Mount Zion A.M.E. Church Cemetery, Abbeville County.
Pallbearers are nieces.
Flower bearers are nephews.
Honorary escort is Phillip Calhoun.
The family is at the home, 2829 Highway 25, Hodges.
