Daisy Aull

LEESVILLE — Daisy L.E. Aull, 102, of Leesville, died Saturday, December 4, 2004.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 6, 2004, at Nazareth United Methodist Church with Rev. Joyce Murphy and Rev. Kevin Cooley officiating.

Mrs. Aull was born in Leesville to the late Tiry and Ione Mitchell Fulmer.

She was a member of Nazareth United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and married to the late Tillman Reedy Aull. She had a love for flowers and crocheting.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Marvin H. and Mary Aull of Batesburg-Leesville; daughter and son-in-law, June A. and Kenneth Metze of Edgefield; daughter-in-law, Lola Rae Aull; 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; preceded in death by a husband; sons, Robert Earl Aull; Carl Clyburn Aull; Douglas Aull.

Family will receive friends following the graveside service in the church. Memorial can be made to: Nazareth United Methodist Church, Route 4, Box 144, Leesville, SC 29070.

Claude Allen

Mt. PLEASANT — Entered into eternal life on December 3, 2004, Claude A. Allen of Mount Pleasant, SC, formerly of Newberry, SC, beloved husband of Tillie Henderson Allen. The relatives and friends of Claude Allen are invited to attend his funeral service on Tuesday, December 7, 2004 in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel at two o’clock. Friends may call at Stuhr’s Mount Pleasant Chapel Monday, December 6 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

Mr. Allen was born in Ellenboro, NC November 27, 1904, the son of James Vernon Allen and Ola Daniels Allen. Mr. Allen worked for the State of South Carolina until his retirement. He was an avid baseball fan and as a young man played for the Forest City Cardinals in Forest City, NC. Mr. and Mrs. Allen resided in Newberry, SC where all four of their children were born. They moved to Florence, SC and later returned to Newberry when he retired. He celebrated his 100th birthday on November 27, 2004, and Mr. and Mrs. Allen celebrated their 70th anniversary on December 1, 2004. Mr. Allen was very dedicated to his wife and family and they will miss him very much.

Mr. Allen is survived by his wife, Tillie Allen of Mt. Pleasant, SC; three daughters, Barbara Johnston of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Martha Kay Pugh of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Peggy Inabinet of Charleston, SC; one son James Kenneth Allen, M.D. of Louisville, KY; one brother, Vernon Allen of Ellenboro, NC; ten grandchildren, Chase Shealy, Mark Shealy, Martee Goldberg, Windi McKeithan, David Harris, Ashley Inabinet Sessions, Russ Inabinet, Meredith Inabinet, Bradley Allen, and Stuart Allen; and six great-grandchildren.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Lutheran Hospice of Charleston, 1885 Rifle Range Road, Mt. Pleasant SC 29464.

Lois Brown

SUMMERVILLE — Mrs. Lois Beckham “Tinnie” Brown, 73, widow of J.B. Brown, of 151 Wier Street, Summerville, SC (formerly of Great Falls, SC), died Friday, December 3rd at her residence. A graveside service will be 2:00 PM Monday in Greenlawn Cemetery, Great Falls, SC. The Rev. Erwin Ammons will officiate.

Born in Chester County, SC, September 23, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Marshall Hilliard Beckham and Mary Gertrude (Wilson) Beckham. She was a homemaker and a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church, Goose Creek, SC. She attended Great Falls, SC Schools.

Survivors: 1 daughter, Norma B. Streuber of Summerville, SC; 2 sisters, Geneva B. Craig of Monks Corner, SC, Winona Johnson of Lancaster, SC; 2 grandsons, Jessie B. Bodiford and Marshall David Pinion; 2 great-granddaughters, Brittnany Jessica Bodiford and Taylor Ashton Bodiford; 1 great-grandson, Jessie Blake Bodiford.

Memorials to: First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 133 St. James Blvd., Goose Creek, SC 29445.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 P.M. Monday at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home, 26 Underwood Avenue, Great Falls, SC.

Emmie Shaw

HARTSVILLE — Funeral services for Emmie Kneese Winburn Shaw, 69, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at Chapel Hill Baptist Church. The Revs. Ed Griggs and Grover Johnson will officiate with entombment in Westview Memorial Park Cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Monday, December 6, 2004 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Chapel Hill Baptist Church, 1569 Ruby Road, Hartsville, SC 29550, or the Cardiopulmonary Care Department, Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center, Hartsville, SC 29550.

Mrs. Shaw, widow of Charles Russell Shaw, Sr., died Friday, December 3, 2004. Born in Chesterfield Co., SC, she was a daughter of the late John Ousley and Olivia Griggs Winburn. She was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. She attended the Robert L. Robbins Sunday School Class and was a member of the Chapel Hill Baptist Church U.M.V. She was employed for 27 years at Byerly Hospital as a Respiratory Therapist in the Cardiopulmonary Care Department. She was a caring and dedicated citizen to this community and to the church.

Surviving are her son, Charles Russell Shaw, Jr. of Hartsville, SC; granddaughter, Cari Renee Shaw of Hartsville, SC; daughter, Dr. Patricia Anne Shaw of Bishopville, SC; sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Joe Harding of Silverton, OR; brother and sister-in-law, William “Dock” and Helen Winburn of Patrick, SC; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mildred and Alton Campbell of Camden, SC.

Lloyd Davis

HAMPTON — Deacon Lloyd Davis, 92, of 915 Holy Street, Hampton, SC, passed away Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004 at the Beaufort Memorial Hospital, Beaufort, SC.

Services: Monday, Dec. 6, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Hampton, SC. The remains will be placed in the church at 9 a.m. until the hour of service on Wednesday. No viewing after the Eulogy. Revs. B.J. Burison, Travien Capers, John Porter, Wesley Williams officiating.

Burial with Masonic rites will follow in the church cemetery.

Wake service: Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004 from 6 to 8 PM at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Hampton.

Lloyd the son of the late Columbus and Iva Bostic Davis, was born in Hampton County, Sept. 12, 1912. He was married to the late Mrs. Alma Watts Davis. Lloyd was a faithful member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. He served as Deacon, Chairman of the Deacon Board, Member of the SBS and Missionary Societies. He was a proud member of the Antioch Lodge #91.

Lloyd was employed with the South Carolina Highway Department in the 1930’s. He later became a master concrete finisher. Pop’s footsteps have been etched in the tapestry of time. He helped build the military Air Station Beaufort, SC, a bomb making facility at S.R.S., runways at Cape Canaveral, and the Atlanta Airport. He was proud of the local jobs in and around Hampton County, including schools, churches, parks, driveways, sidewalks, and patios. Most recently, just before his brief illness he laid the foundation for the Taco Bell/K.F.C. franchise and the renovated Riley’s Funeral Home Hampton Chapel.

Survivors: 2 daughter, Alma J. Moss, Elkridge, MD, Rev. Sarah Hicks, St. Albans, NY; sisters, Evan. Annie Black, and Jane Dunston, both of Mt. Vernon, NY; 3 aunts, Margaret Hodges, Rena Anderson, Mary Dennis Teaneck; sisters-in-law, Johnnie B. James, Carolina and Dorothy Watts; 4 grandchildren, Pamela Mitchell, Sharon Moss, Pamela Giles, Gregory Lloyd Hicks; 5 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces; nephews; “son”, Oscar White; adopted sons and daughters.

Carolyn Elkins

ALLENDALE — Mrs. Carolyn Fogle Elkins, wife of the late Walter B. Elkins, died Saturday night after an extended illness. She was 82.

Mrs. Elkins was born Dec. 12, 1921, the daughter of the late T. J. Fogle and Mahettie Livingston Fogle. She was retired from the ASCS Department of Agriculture, received the certificate of service from the Boy Scouts of America, and a member of the Swallow Savannah Methodist Church.

Surviving are 2 sisters: Leila Mae F. McDaniel of Georgetown and Helen F. Miller of Pinopolis; 2 brothers, L. Doyle Fogle of Brunswick, Ga. and J. Dewey Fogle of Bamberg. There are 9 nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 pm at the chapel of Smith-Rhoden Funeral Home with burial following in the Swallow Savannah Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Swallow Savannah Methodist Church.

Mabel Graham

FLORENCE — Mabel Mims Graham, 85, widow of Roy Graham, died Saturday, December 4, 2004, at her residence after a long illness.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 7, 2004, at Waters-Powell Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.

She was born in Kingstree, SC, a daughter of the late George Linaeus and Donnie Ham Mims. She was a graduate of Kingstree High School and the McLeod Infirmary School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse in the Emergency Room and then served as Assistant Director of Nursing for McLeod Infirmary.

Mrs. Graham was a member of First Baptist Church in Florence since 1942. She served many roles including adult Sunday School teacher, WMU President, Director of Youth Department, and founder of Newcomer Ministry (her favorite) until her health failed.

She was a member and past president of the Twentieth Century Literary Club. She was also an avid gardener and homemaker.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda G. (Ben) Brockman of Fairfield, CT, Donna G. (Curt) Rone of West Columbia, SC, and Betsy G. (Tom) Wright of Florence; a son, Ed Graham of Florence; a sister, Theresa M. Allen of Kingstree, SC; five granddaughters, Elizabeth Wright (Joseph) Osborne of Greenville, SC, Nancy Netter (Benji) Smith of Greer, SC, Caroline Netter (Randy) Rice of Peachtree City, GA, Jeni Rone and Elizabeth Rone (Chuck) Ciesar, both of Mt. Pleasant, SC; four grandsons, Will (Lucy) Brockman of Ann Arbor, MI, Nathan (Anne) Brockman of New York, NY, Graham Wright of Boston, MA, and Nick Rone of Seabrook Island, SC; and five great-grandsons.

In addition to her spouse and parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Miriam M. Funk and Carolyn S. Allen, and brothers Hazel E. Mims and Thomas L. Mims.

The family is deeply appreciative of Jean Grooms, Dr. Kevin Sattele and staff, Dr. David Vroman (Storm Eye Institute) and staff, and Theresa Sanderford for their loving care and support throughout her illness.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Life Point Ocular (corneas), 110 Medical Circle, West Columbia, SC 29169; Sjogren’s Syndrome Foundation, 8120 Woodmont Avenue, Suite 530, Bethesda, MD 20814-1437; or to a charity of one’s choice.
