Margaret G. McFaddin
Margaret Gamble McFaddin, 77, widow of Douglas McFaddin, died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at her home in Manning.

Born Dec. 15, 1924, in Manning, she was the daughter of the late Sheriff James Edward Gamble Sr. and Maude Weatherford Gamble. She was a member of Midway Presbyterian Church in New Zion.

Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Jean (Jeannie) McFaddin of Manning; a daughter-in-law, Susan McFaddin of New Zion; a brother, James E. Gamble Jr. of Manning; three sisters, Louise G. Thompson, Thelma G. DuBose and Wilma G. Odom of Manning; a brother-in-law, L. Al Davis of Bishopville; and three grandchildren, Susan Elizabeth Gamble, Margaret Catherine McFaddin and Douglas Hugh McFaddin.

She was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Hugh McFaddin; three brothers, William E. Gamble, Earl B. Gamble and Milton I. Gamble; and a sister, Dorothy G. Davis.

Services were 11 a.m. Saturday in Midway Presbyterian Church, The Revs. Rodney Foster, Lee Davis and Dale Rawlings officiated.

Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Nephews served as pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Midway Presbyterian Church, Rt. 1 Box 103AAA, New Zion, S.C. 29111.

Edward Hamilton
PHILADELPHIA - Edward Hamilton, 95, died Saturday, April 6, 2002, in Philadelphia.

Born in Clarendon County, he was the son of the late Charlie Hamilton and Lillian Robinson Hamilton.

He was a member of Second Pilgrim Baptist Church in Philadelphia, where he served as a member of the trustee board for several years. He was employed with a trucking company and retired after 40 years of employment.

Survivors include a daughter, Estelle Sewell of Philadelphia; three brothers, Willie L. Hamilton and Dewey Hamilton of Manning and Sanders Hamilton of Baltimore; three sisters, Louise Black and Minnie Cantey of Chicago and Geneva Boyd of Baltimore; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were 11 a.m. Friday at Second Pilgrim Baptist Church.

Itasha N. Green
BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Itasha Nicole Green, 18, died Wednesday, April 3, 2002, at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York.

Born March 6, 1984, in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Francis Singleton Green.

She was a senior at John Lindsey Academy in Brooklyn.

She had been accepted at Baruch College where she planned to attend this fall.

Survivors include a sister, Lateacha Monique Green of Brooklyn.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Cyrus and Azalee Singleton.

Services were 4 p.m. Tuesday at St. John Holiness Tabernacle in the St. Paul community of Summerton. The Rev. Queen McKnight, pastor, officiated.

Burial followed in New Hope Cemetery in Pinewood.

Clara McCue Smith
Clara McCue Smith, 98, widow of E. Buel Smith, died Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at the home of her daughter in Manning.

Born October 7, 1903, in Bamberg, she was the daughter of the late William Martin McCue and Eulalie Walker McCue. She was a member of Manning Baptist Church and the TEL Sunday school class.

Surviving is a daughter, Frances Boan of Manning.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Willie Ott McCue, Johnny McCue and John Allen McCue; and three sisters, Lila M. Munn, Eva M. Sample and Janie M. Campbell.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. today in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home. Dr. Paul Sullivan and the Revs. Danny Bridges and Thomas Daum will officiate. Burial will follow at 4 p.m. today in McCormick City Cemetery in McCormick.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Lea, Dan Mims, Charlie Emory, J. F. “Sonny” Rush, Luther Roper, Joe Campbell, Wayne Rush, Pat Rush and David Rush. Honorary pallbearers will be the TEL Sunday school class.

Doyle S. Roberson
Doyle Seabrook Roberson, 30, died Wednesday, April 3, 2002, in Clarendon County.

Born Aug. 12, 1971, in Sumter, he was the son of Ronald S. and Joyce Floyd Roberson. He was a graduate of Clarendon Hall and Horry-Georgetown Technical College (Turf Management). He was employed at Lowe’s in Columbia and was a member of Southern Methodist Church in Summerton.

Survivors besides his parents of Summerton include a sister, Sherri R. McInnis and husband Neil of Summerton; maternal step-grandmother, Virginia M. McLeod of Six Mile; a niece, Peyton McInnis; and several aunts and uncles.

Services were 2 p.m. Saturday in Stephens Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Tommy Burgess and John Hucks officiated.

Burial followed in St. Paul Cemetery in Summerton.

Pallbearers were David Ardis, Jaye Derienzo, Matthew Martens, James Stukes, Ken Wells and Davis Mitchum.

Honorary pallbearers were Josh Griffin, Jimmy Ready, Kevin Atkinson, Matthew Maye, Kevin Roberson, Benji Haney and Watson Felder.

Memorials may be made to Southern Methodist Church of Summerton.

Marguerite I. Myers
Marguerite Ingram Myers, 88, widow of Laurence Henry Myers Sr., died Thursday, April 4, 2002, in Clarendon Memorial Hospital.

Born July 27, 1913, in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late Tracy Bell Ingram and Elise Tisdale Ingram. She was former owner and operator of Myers Landing and was a charter member of Santee Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons, L.H. Myers Jr., Ronnie Myers and wife Karen, Quinn Myers and wife Brenda, Hugh Myers and wife Johnnie of Manning; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services were 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home. The Rev. Jimmy Eldreth officiated.

Burial followed in Clarendon Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to Santee Baptist Church, Rt. 4, Box 1189, Manning, S.C. 29102.

Lorye D. McCants
Lorye Daney McCants, 75, died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born May 14, 1926, in Clarendon County, she was the daughter of the late Flagler and Carrie Hilton Daney. She received her education in the public schools of Clarendon County and graduated from Manning Training School. She received a degree in computer programming from Midlands Technical College in Columbia and worked as a teacher’s aide with the McCants Elementary School in Columbia. In her youth, she joined Cypress Fork AME Church in Alcolu, where she served faithfully until she moved to Columbia and united with the Francis Burns UM Church and served as a Sunday school teacher. She later moved back to Alcolu and joined the Manning Church of Christ.

Survivors include a son, Gary McCants and his wife Sharon of Wilmington, N.C.; five brothers, Joe L. Daney and James Daney of Baltimore, Christopher H. Daney and his wife Barbara of Manning and Glenwood Daney and Earl Daney of Alcolu; eight sisters, Mable Blackwell and her husband Howard of Baltimore, Sylvester Brown and her husband Wayne and Evelyn Davis of Alcolu, Pearl Dixon of Philadelphia, Eva Margaret Blackwell and her husband Julian of Newport News, Va., Jo Ann Daney, Priscilla Small and her husband Gary of Atlanta and Gussie Scott and her husband Ed of Maryland; and an adopted brother, Melvin Daney and his wife Chandra of Atlanta.

She was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey McCants.

Services were 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Cypress Fork AME Church. Pastor Leroy Green and the Revs. Halvert Tucker and Leroy T. James officiated.

Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Eulalie L. Hughes
FLORENCE — Eulalie Lackey “Stickey” Hughes, 85, widow of Shelton Smith Hughes, died Monday, April 1, 2002, in a local hospital after an illness.

Born in Paxville, she was the daughter of the late Joshua Preston and Rosalie Barwick Lackey. She was raised in Connie Maxwell Children’s Home in Greenwood. She was a member of First Baptist Church, the Nina Martin Sunday school class and the Fifty-Year Club. She was also employed by the First Baptist Church in Child Development and Education. She enjoyed bowling and bowled in the All Star Senior Bowling League for many years.

Survivors include two daughters, DeAnna H. Galloway and her husband Jack of Sumter and Rhonda Sue Hughes of Florence; two sisters, Myrtle Lackey of Florence and Blondie Still of Charleston; two brothers, Elwood Lackey of Orangeburg and J.P. Lackey of Greenville; two granddaughters, Wendie Kilgore of Summerville and Joy Causey of West Columbia; and three great-grandchildren, Scott Causey, Mary Frances Kilgore and Sarah Claire Kilgore.

She was preceded in death by a son, Shelton Crisler Hughes.

Services were 1 p.m. Wednesday in Waters-Powell Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial followed in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Oliver C. Haley
Oliver Covert Haley, 75, widower of Pauline Ridgeway Haley, died Friday, April 5, 2002, at the home of his son in Manning.

Born Aug. 23, 1926, in Manning, he was the son of the late Isaac Covert Haley and Ella Holladay Haley. He was a retired farmer.

Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Haley of Manning; a son, Glen Haley of Manning; a sister, Loyrea Ridgeway of Manning; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Julius Haley and Henry “Mosser” Haley and three sisters, Cora Ridgeway, Thelma Baxley and Naomi Brewer.

Graveside services were 5 p.m. Sunday in Clarendon Memorial Gardens in Manning. The Rev. C.S. Salter officiated.
