William Massey

ROCK HILL -"Mr. William Henry "Pop" Massey, 78, of 930 Crawford Road died Saturday, March 11, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Baptist Church, with the Rev. C.S. Sanders officiating and the Revs. W. Banks White, William Bryson, W.T. Massey and Osbey Roddey assisting. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Massey was a son of the late Henry Massey and Julia McDowell Massey. He was a retired carpenter and self-employed construction contractor.

Surviving are his wife, Henrietta Floyd Massey; three sons, Raymond Massey and Curtis Massey, both of Rock Hill, and William Wylie Massey of Charlotte; his daughter, Denise Massey Funderburk of Greensboro, N.C.; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home. The body will be viewed from 3 to 6 tonight and 9 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Robinson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 10708, Rock Hill, SC 29730; Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730, or AAUW Educational Foundation.

Brad Pearson

CHESTER - Mr. Brad Alan Pearson, 30, of 2844 Rodman Road died Saturday, March 11, 2000.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Greenlawn Cemetery, Great Falls, with the Rev. Steve Bishop officiating.

A native of Fairfield County, Mr. Pearson was a son of Judy Pearson of Chester and the late William Pearson. He was a pipefitter for Mundy Construction Co. and was a graduate of Lugoff-Elgin High School.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Shannon Flowers Pearson; his brother, William Pearson of Winnsboro; two sisters, Jessica Pearson of Chester and Kim Sanders of Winnsboro; and his maternal grandmother, Ophelia Bennett of Chester.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

James Thompson Sr.

KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. - Mr. James Lawson "Jim" Thompson Sr., 64, of 914 Blalock Drive died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia, N.C.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. Don Williams officiating. Burial will be at Mountain Rest Cemetery.

A native of York County, Mr. Thompson was a son of the late Lester Lawson and Pacey Watts Thompson. He was a member of the First Wesleyan Church and was a lifetime member of VFW Post 9811 and American Legion, Otis Green No. 155. He was retired and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Surviving are his wife, Evelene Thompson; two sons, Jimbo Thomp-son and Don Henderson, both of Kings Mountain; three daughters, Sandra Randle and Jackie Roberts, both of Kings Mountain, and Lynn Thompson of Shelby, N.C.; his brother, Olin Thompson of Clover; his sister, Mell Thompson of Clover; and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 6:30 to 8 tonight at Harris Funeral Home, Kings Mountain.

Ruth Fetner

LEXINGTON - Mrs. Ruth Hooker Fetner, 90, died Monday, March 13, 2000.

The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel

A native of North, Mrs. Fetner was the daughter of the late Hilliard K Hooker and Ursula Hydrick Hooker. She was the widow of Fred W. Fetner Sr.

Surviving are her son, Frederick W. Fetner Jr. of Rock Hill; two daughters, Ruth Rosenthal of Columbia and Fern F. Dodson of Lexington; her brother, Cecil Hooker of Dixiana; four sisters, Essie Mae Lemmon of Winnsboro, Sudie Baker of Decatur, Ga., Mildred Stone of Charleston and Moxley Cothran of Chapin; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends after the service.

Sarah Fuller

FORT MILL - Ms. Sarah Imogene "Jeanie" Blair Fuller, 65, of 144 Bollin Circle died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at Piedmont Med-ical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be in Jacksonville, Fla.

A native of Taylor Mill Community in Reynolds, Ga., Ms. Fuller was a daughter of the late Murray Vernon Blair and Mary Jane Douglas Blair. She was a retired hairdresser and worked as a cashier at Wal-Mart in Rock Hill. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Jacksonville, Fla., and locally attended St. Matthias Episcopal Church in Rock Hill.

Surviving are two daughters, Marsha Wills of Jacksonville and Angie Lewitt of Fort Mill; her brother, Rufus Blair of Folkston, Ga.; and four granddaughters.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Wolfe Funeral Home in Fort Mill.

Sharica White

ROCK HILL - Sharica Lavetta Anntanet White, infant daughter of Rico White and Dorothea White of 234 Saluda St., died Friday, March 10, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Charles Mason officiating.

Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her brother, Demorris Terry of the home; her paternal grandparents, Charles and Julia Watkins of Rock Hill; her maternal grandparents, Charles Hinton and Martha White of Rock Hill; and her great-grandparents, James R. Hinton and Mattie Hinton and Willie Perry, all of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Robinson Funeral Home is in charge.

Paul Hastings

LAWNDALE, N.C. - Mr. Paul Andrew Hastings, 77, of 4836 Delight Road died Monday, March 13, 2000, at Grace Hospital.

A graveside funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Clover Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Revs. Wayne Buff and Jim Scott officiating.

A native of Cleveland County, N.C., Mr. Hastings was a son of the late Moses Andrew Hastings and Goldie Walker Hastings.

Mr. Hastings served in the Pacific Theater during World War II and was retired from Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co. He was a member of Clover Hill United Methodist Church and was a member of the Naval Destroyer Escort Club.

Surviving are his wife, Sue Carter Hastings; his son, Andrew Hastings of Lawndale; his daughter, Linda York of Lawndale; three brothers, Harry Bill Hastings of Lawndale, Shorty Hastings of Casar, N.C., and Dale Hastings of Hickory, N.C.; six sisters, Merle H. Brooks of New London, N.C., Jane Cook of Polkville, N.C., Eloice Campbell and Dot Randall, both of Valdese, N.C., Moselle Lingerfelt of Belmont, N.C., and Roberta Penland of Connelly Springs, N.C.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Stamey Funeral Home in Fallston, N.C.

Patricia Moss

LEXINGTON - Mrs. Patricia A. "Pat" Moss, 64, of Lexington, died Sunday, March 12, 2000.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Round Hill Baptist Church. Burial will be at Woodridge Memorial Park.

A native of Lando, Mrs. Moss was a daughter of Gladys Blanks Aldridge of Rock Hill and the late William L. Aldridge. She was a member of Round Hill Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Thomas H. Moss; two daughters, Robbin Moss of Irmo and Tammy Hicks of Lexington; two brothers, William Aldridge of Rock Hill and Marvin Aldridge of Montgomery, Ala.; three sisters, Emma Moore of McConnells, Loretta Maree of Chester and Linda Leopard of Rock Hill; and her granddaughter.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the Round Hill Baptist Church choir robe fund.

James Sandifer Jr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. James Preston Sandifer Jr., 61, of 330 Clayton Ave. died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at home.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. today at Sunset Memory Gardens in Charlotte.

Mr. Sandifer was a son of Bonnie Caulder Sandifer Henry of York and the late James Preston Sandifer Sr. He was a member of the Glenn Miller Society and was an avid fan of the University of North Carolina Tarheels. He worked eight years in automotive sales at Sams Club in Matthews, N.C. He also served in the 482nd Army Reserves Band in Charlotte.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his daughter, Janet S. Callicutt of Monroe, N.C., four sons, James Bradley Sandifer of Pineville, N.C., John Raymond Sandifer of Charlotte, Philip Jeffrey Sandifer of Indian Trail, N.C., and John Marshall Sandifer of Decatur, Ga.; his sister, Bonnie S. Johns of York; and eight grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. today at Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Charlotte.

M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home in Clover is in charge.

Martin Ramsey

CLOVER - Mr. Martin A. Ramsey, 76, of 107 Pinewood Drive died Monday, March 13, 2000, at Courtland Terrace in Gastonia, N.C.

The funeral will 3 p.m. Wednesday at Clover Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dr. William K. Neely officiating. Burial will be at Woodside Cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mr. Ramsey was a son of the late Wade H. Ramsey and Nell Sims Ramsey. He retired as superintendent of the Clover school district in 1980 after 31 years in public education.

Mr. Ramsey began his career as principal and coach at Floyd High School in Horry County, where the athletic field was named Ramsey Field in his honor. He also served in administrative positions in Fairfield County, Lexington District 5 and Berkeley County District 2.

During his tenure as Clover superintendent, Mr. Ramsey worked to provide greater financial support for educational and recreational programs in the district. His accomplishments included a new high school, extensive school renovations, a large stadium, a summer recreation program and more equitable distribution of tax revenue for school purposes.

Mr. Ramsey provided leadership for an improved college preparatory programs, upgraded curricula at all schools and started a comprehensive program to meet the needs of all handicapped students.

In 1975, he was named Outstanding Educator in York County, and in 1976-1977, he served as an adjunct professor at Winthrop University.

Other honors during his career included president of Berkeley County and Fairfield County Education Associations, member of the selection committee for the University of South Carolina "Carolina Scholars Program" and a member of the Beta Council of South Carolina for three years. He was one of 40 superintendents in the United States selected to attend a National Superintendent's Work Conference at Teacher's College at Columbia University.

Mr. Ramsey served on the board of directors for Southern Bank and Trust Co. and First Union National Bank. He was a member of the Clover Lions Club, served on the recreation committee for the Town of Clover and was chapter chairman for the Erskine Living Endowment. Mr. Ramsey served on the board of directors for the Cripple Children's Society and was chairman of the Fairfield County Heart Association.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth O. Ramsey; his daughter, Rosemary Dailey of Marietta, Ohio.; two brothers, Joe S. Ramsey of Rock Hill and W.T. Ramsey of Edgemoor; three sisters, Azilee Whitley and Mary V. Ramsey, both of Edgemoor, and Elsie Bowers of Chester; and two grandsons.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home.

David Weaver

ROCK HILL - Mr. David Lyle Weaver, 72, of 730 Peachtree Road died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jesse Sims officiating. Burial will be at Laurelwood Cem-etery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Weaver was a son of the late Lester Weaver and Jessie McSwain Weaver. He was a retired employee of Mineral Research and Development in Harrisburg, N.C. He was a World War II veteran and was a member of the Frank Roach Post No. 34. He was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are three daughters, Rebecca Meares and Joanne Love, both of Rock Hill, and Betty Peterson of Shelby, N.C.; five brothers, Wayne Weaver, Floyd Weaver, George Weaver and Frank Weaver, all of Rock Hill, and Woodrow Weaver of Kill Devil Hills, N.C.; three sisters, Jessie Jacobs, Toy Ruth Phifer and Louise Neal, all of Rock Hill; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Thomas Williams

CLOVER - Mr. Thomas Williams, 80, of 1097 N. Beersheba Road died Friday, March 10, 2000, at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia, N.C.

The funeral will be noon Wednesday at Mount Harmony United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Amari Hooker officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Williams was a two-term York City Councilman. He was the owner of Williams Quality Cleaners and Washerette in York and retired in 1985. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Williams was a member of Mount Harmony United Methodist Church, where he served on the trustee board, steward board, finance committee, hymn choir and was a member of the adult Sunday school class. He also was a United Methodist lay speaker. He was a member of the Zimri Cook Masonic Lodge No. 278, Scottish Rite Mason of the World Inc.

Surviving are his son, Claude T. Williams of Charlotte; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Mount Harmony United Methodist Church at which time Masonic rites will be given.
