Charles Thompson

ST. GEORGE — Charles E. Thompson, 70 of First Texas Road, St. George, died Sunday January 23, 2005, in the Omoooo Care Center, Summerville, after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Edward Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bobby Thompson, Matthew Thompson, Kevin Risher, Wesley Risher, Robbie Ulmer, and David Murdaugh. Honorary pallbearers will be David, Chase, Jessie, and Justin Stanfield Thompson, Kevin Risher, Jr. and other Nephews. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Bryant Funeral Home, St. George.

Mr. Thompson was born in St. George on September 22, 1934 a son of the late Charlie Tillman and Lillie Lorene Mitchell Thompson. He attended St. George Public Schools and Calvary Baptist Church. He was predeceased by a sister, Daisy Elizabeth Thompson Wadford.

Surviving; 5 brothers and their wives; Robert Harris (Emily) Thompson, James A. (Alvie Lee) Thompson, John Moses (Doris) Thompson, Thomas Elijah (Robin) Thompson, and Stephen Daniel (Pat) Thompson, all of St. George.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 4554 Highway 78, St. George, SC 29477.

Ray Walden Sr.

ROCK HILL — A memorial service for Ray W. “Chief” Walden Sr., 84, WWII Army veteran, former exec. VP of Hunter & Walden Co., Inc., 3 p.m. today: Greene Funeral Home, NW Chapel; private burial. Born in Banks, Ala., to James and Abbey Walden, he died Jan. 23, 2005. Surviving: wife, “Tid” Walden; sons, R.W. Jr., Albert, Aubrey Walden; sisters, Catherine Nicholson, Marjorie Dean; 5 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild.

Elease Willingham

JENKINSVILLE — Services with burial for Elease Willingham, 101, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at White Hall AME Church. Viewing is 1-9 p.m. today at Glover’s Memorial Chapel, Winnsboro. Born in Fairfield Co., Mrs. Willingham died January 21, 2005. Surviving are her daughters, Agnes Johnson, Verdell Pearson; sons, Nathaniel and Moses Willingham; other relatives and friends.

E. Hudson Severance

HARTSVILLE — Funeral services for E. Hudson Severance, age 75, who died Jan. 23, will be held Wed. at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home. Rev. Gary Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Mr. Severance was born in Darlington Co., a son of the late William James & Mellisa McAlister Severance. He was co-owner of NAPA Auto Parts, Past President of the Automobile Parts Association of S.C. and managed the NAPA Store in Columbia for 13 years. He was a loving husband and father. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Sara Knotts Severance, Hartsville, son, Billy (Kay) Severance, Hartsville, daughters, Debra Ann (Ronnie) Grant, Hartsville, Janet Lynn (Don) Matthews, Lake Wylie, Sandra Kay (Richard) Snipes, Florence, Brothers: Charles Severance, Baton Rouge, La., Raymond Severance, Darlington, sister, Mary Eunice Price, Darlington, 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Kelleytown Baptist Church, 2609 Kelleytown Road, Hartsville, S.C. 29550 or the Hospice of the Pee Dee, 555 East Cheves Street, Florence, S.C. 29506.

Harold Spigner Jr.

FLORENCE — Graveside service for Harold Thomas “Hal” Spigner Jr., 45, musician, 11 a.m. Wednesday: Trinity UMC Cemetery, Alcolu. Visitation: 6-7 tonight at Stephens Funeral Home, Manning. Born in Manning to Montez Cantey Spigner Rowland and Harold Spigner Sr., he died Jan. 23, 2005. Surviving: sisters, Marilyn Barrack, Debbie Funderburke; niece, Jessica Funderburke; mother; nephew, Thomas Barrack.

Pearlie Rice

COLUMBIA — Services for Ms. Pearlie Rice of Midlands Center, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pisgah Church with burial in Palmetto Cemetery.

Ms. Rice died Sunday, January 23, 2005. She was the daughter of the late Judge and Hattie Binker Rice.

Surviving are a special niece, Angela R. Lacey; sisters-in-law, Leola Rice and Thomas Ann Rice' nephew, Lonnie Atkins; and a host of friends and caregivers at Midlands Center who loved her and will truly miss her.

Eunice Pringle

SUMTER — Services for Eunice Singleton Pringle, 88, widow of Thomas Pringle, are 3 p.m. Wednesday at Congruity Presbyterian Church. Palmer Memorial Chapel is in charge. Born in Sumter Co. to Spencer and Dora Wilson Singleton, she died January 23, 2005. Surviving: daughter, Ruth Watson; special nieces, Elizabeth Andrews, Deloris Singleton; other nieces and nephews; other relatives.

Mack Morant

HOLLY HILL — Services with burial for Mack Morant, 77, will be 2 p.m. today at Greater Target AME Church. Eutawville Community Funeral Home, Eutawville, is in charge. Born in Holly Hill to Eugene and Rena Anderson Morant, he died Jan. 22, 2005. Surviving: children, Dr. Mack, Percy and Joseph Morant, Virgie and Dr. Gloria James, Sharron Garland; 4 sisters; 1 brother; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren.

Beulah McDowell

LAURINBURG, N.C. — Service for Beulah Hall Ward McDowell, 76, 2 p.m. today in Pleasant Grove UMC Cemetery, Cheraw, S.C. Rogers Funeral Home, McColl, S.C., is in charge. Born in Chesterfield, S.C., to Alvin and Ella Turner Hall, she died Jan. 23, 2005. Surviving: children, Alvin, Phines, William, Jerry, Patricia McDowell, Ann Grooms, Margie Rogers, Virginia Ramsey, Debbie Graham; siblings; grandchildren; more.

HARTSVILLE — Shannon Lynn Wilkes, 29, died Friday, January 21, 2005. Funeral services and burial were held Sunday, January 23, 2005 at Middendorf Church of the Living God, directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Rev. Margaret Hicks officiated. She is survived by her husband, Kendall Lee Wilkes of Hartsville, SC; sons, Blake Winburn, Chase Winburn, Jordan Barfield; daughters, Katelon Mixon, Kellie Johnson; father, Jimmy Rhodes; mother, Judy O’Neal all of Hartsville, SC; sister, Angie Flowers of Hartsville, SC.

Marion Lee

CHESTER — Services for Marion Beauford Weir Lee, 83, widow of Robert Lee Sr., are 3 p.m. Wednesday (visitation 6:30-8:30 tonight): Barron Funeral Chapel, burial: Armenia UM Church Cemetery. Born in Chester Co. to Leonard Weir and Mamie Weir Feaster (stepfather, Virgil Feaster), she died Jan. 23, 2005. Surviving: children, Robert Lee Jr., Jane Cameron; siblings, Janie Bickett, James Weir; 3 grandchildren.

Michael Inabinet

WEST COLUMBIA — Services for Michael Thomas Inabinet, 41, of West Columbia, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2005 in Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Judy Hames and Rev. Robert Hawkins. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeffery Walker Inabinet, Harmon H. McCoy, III, John E. Lucas, Clyde E. Hagood, Bryan Ray Jumper, Jason D. Langley and Charles “Chuck” Taylor, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be B.R. Jumper, Charles N. “Charlie” Taylor, Sr., James McMurray, Dean Inabinet, Bill DeLoache and Timothy L. Williams. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Memorials may be made to Mt. Zion UMC Building Fund, 2349 Old State Road, Swansea, SC 29160.

Mr. Inabinet died Monday, January 24, 2005. Born in West Columbia, he was a son of Lois Jumper Inabinet of West Columbia and the late Harry Thomas Inabinet. Mr. Inabinet was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and the NRA. He was a former employee of Laurel Crest Retirement and was an avid gardener.

Surviving, besides his mother, are sister and brother-in-law, Gail I. and Randy Stewart of Gaston; aunts and uncles, Mildred and Raymond Heckle, Vernelle and Lindy Cannon, B.R. Jumper, Helen and G.W. “Jack” Inabinet, Mary G. Inabinet; nieces, Tiffany T. Williams and husband, Timothy of Fayetteville, NC and Stephanie G. Taylor of West Columbia.

Mr. Inabinet was predeceased by his father, Harry T. Inabinet and an uncle, William J. “Buddy” Inabinet.

Mildred Jolley

CHESTER — Mrs. Mildred Calloway Jolley, 79, of 250 McClure Woods, Chester, South Carolina, widow of Paul Hamilton Jolley, died Sunday, January 23rd, at Piedmont Medical Center, Rock Hill, S.C. Service is 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005 at Parkway Baptist Church with burial at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Greenlawn Cemetery, Spartanburg, South Carolina. Rev. Steve Hogg and Rev. Larry Sizemore officiating. She was born February 22, 1925, in Talluah Falls, GA, to the late James Newton Calloway and Carrie Jacobs Calloway. She was a graduate of Spartanburg County Schools, a member of Parkway Baptist Church and a homemaker. Survivors: son, Steven Wayne Jolley of Chester, SC; sisters, Helen C. Gore of Atlanta, GA, Dorothy C. Steadman of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Steven Andrew “Andy” Jolley and Bradley Wayne “Brad” Jolley; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Grace Jolley and Steven Garrett Jolley. Memorials may be made to Parkway Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1227, Chester, SC 29706. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at Barron Funeral Home.

Carolyn Hubert

SUMTER — Carolyn Helland Hubert, 57, widow of Thomas Edward Hubert, died Sunday, January 23, 2005 at the Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born in Oakland, California, she was a daughter of Gladys Symonds Helland and the late Robert Helland.

Mrs. Hubert was a member of St. James Lutheran Church. She received a Masters degree in Educational Administration and was Assistant Principal at Crosswell Elementary School.

Surviving are her mother of Sumter; a son, Damon Hubert and wife Rebecca of Sumter; a daughter, TaMara Sloan and husband Robb of Florence; a sister, Bobbie Thorpe of Montana; five grandchildren, Bobby Sloan, Hannah Hubert, Aria Sloan, Brailey Sloan, and Caelin Sloan.

Memorial services will be held at 4 P.M. Thursday at St. James Lutheran Church with Rev. Tony Metze officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P.M. Wednesday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.

Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and Crematory, 221 Broad Street, Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
