William A. "Bill" Johnson
Died: Jul 14, 2003

William Adrian Johnson, son of William and Ethel (Hetrick) Johnson, was born March 16, 1919 at Sioux Falls, SD. He grew up there helping on the family farm and his father’s plastering business. He attended Washington High School.
Bill was united in marriage with Helen Louise Snyder on June 17, 1939 at Canton, SD. The family moved to the Brandon area in 1954. Bill was a charter member and instrumental in forming the Brandon Volunteer Fire Department. He also did most of the construction on the original building. He was active at the Brandon Golf Coarse where he provided golf lessons to children during the summer months. Bill has been a member of Brandon Lutheran Church since 1954. Bill was very proud of the time he served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a charter member of the Brandon Veterans of Foreign Wars, which he helped establish, purchase and build. He is a past Post and State Commander and served on the honor guard for many years.
Bill loved to spend time with his family. Bill and his wife Helen enjoyed dancing for many years together. His love of music had him spending countless hours playing the organ. He drove school bus for several years. And was a member of the Moose Lodge.
He worked as a cement contractor for many years where he built several houses in the Sioux Falls and Brandon areas. He later worked for Dakota Harvestore and was with Sioux Falls Structures as a quality control engineer when he retired. He enjoyed woodworking and building furniture.
Grateful for having share his life are his two daughters, Terry Brandt and her husband, Roger, Sioux Falls, SD, Pat Alexander and her special friend, Eddie Cook, Tea, SD; a son, William W. "Bill" Johnson and his wife, Roxy, Sioux Falls, SD; 12 grandchildren, Gordy Jr., Gregg, and Garry Brower, Kristi Norwick, Darren Brandt, Jodi Kasemodel, Robert and Nathaneal Alexander, Sherry and William Johnson, Cory and Tyler Demers; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Gerald Johnson, Sioux Falls, SD; a sister, Wanda Moore and her husband, Roy, Las Vegas, NV; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, on September 15, 1998; a daughter, Phyllis Brower; two brothers, Gabe and Ed Johnson; and a sister, Vida Moeller.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the family for lunch and fellowship at Brandon Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall immediately following the funeral and prior to the committal service.

Marian D. Buskohl
Died: Oct 3, 2003

Marian D. Buus, daughter of Herman and Bertha (Hippen) Buus, was born May 22, 1923 on a farm southwest of Lennox, SD. She grew up there. Marian received her education in country school and Davis (SD) High School.
Marian was united in marriage with Delmar H. Buskohl on April 29, 1950 in Luverne, MN. The couple made their home in Sioux Falls, SD for their entire lives. Marian worked as a waitress for a number of years. She also provided childcare in her home.
Grateful for having shared her life are three children, Gloria Voigt and her husband, Jim, Hartford, SD, Butch Buskohl and his wife, Marilyn, Sioux Falls, SD, Patty Heesch and her husband, Lowell, Boise, ID; 12 grandchildren, Jeannie Redenius, Jon Voigt and his wife, Nichole, Brady Buskohl and his wife, Kris, Bo Buskohl, Brooke Lott and her husband, Ralph, Carrie Hill, Robb Buskohl and Jodie Buskohl, all of Sioux Falls, SD, Casey Heesch, Tanner Heesch, Zach Heesch and Megan Heesch, all of Boise, ID; six great-grandchildren; a special niece, Betty Parrish, Denver, CO; two special nephews, Ron Buus and his wife, Eileen, Lennox, SD, Roger Buus, Lennox, SD; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Delmar, on October 20, 1994; an infant daughter, Jody Lynn; a son, Douglas Duane; her parents; a brother, Harm Buus; and a special niece, Babe DeKing.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the family for lunch and fellowship at George Boom Funeral Home following the funeral service and prior to leaving for the committal service.

Olive A. Leach
Died: Oct 3, 2003

Olive Armstrong Leach, daughter of George and Violet (Wray) Leach, was born March 21, 1920 in Sioux Falls, SD. She grew up and received her education there.
At an early age, Olive began working at Machine Works. She was later employed at Sioux Brake and Equipment, Shakstad Electric and Malloy Electric Bearing and Supply until her retirement in 1982.
Olive enjoyed fishing and watching local softball. She loved the Minnesota Twins baseball team. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Grateful for having shared her life are three granddaughters, Deb Dawley, Sioux Falls, SD, Patricia D’Andrea, Sarasota, FL, Diana Dawley, Britton, SD; one sister, Geraldine Hainje and her husband, Neil, Dell Rapids, SD; six great-grandchildren; three nephews; one niece; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Olive was preceded in death by her daughter, Harriet Kay Dawley; and her parents.

Magdalena C. Steenholdt

Magdalena Caroline Rueb, daughter of Christ and Annie (Scheltter) Rueb, was born on October 10, 1919 in Charles Mix County, SD. She attended country schools.
Maggie was united in marriage with Harold Steenholdt on February 23, 1954 in Sioux Falls, SD. The couple made their home in Sioux Falls. Following Harold’s death on May 26, 1968, she moved to Farwell, TX. In 1981, Maggie moved to Chamberlain, SD and in 1998, she became a resident of the Aurora Brule Nursing Home in White Lake, SD.
Maggie loved being a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and baking. She especially enjoyed visiting people.
Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter, Dorothy Steenholdt, Roswell, NM; daughter-in-law, Janet Taber, Chamberlain, SD; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Ruth Wezter, Gregory, SD, Eileen Williams, Madison, SD, and Deloris Stroh, Sioux Falls, SD.
In addition to her husband, Harold, she was preceded in death by a son, Virgil; a grandson, Justin; her parents; and two sisters.

Charles "Bill" Nims
Died: Sep 18, 2003
Charles “Bill” Nims, son of Frank and Edna (Elton) Nims, was born on October 27, 1916 in Canton, SD. Bill grew up in Canton, Flandreau, SD and Sioux Falls, SD, where he graduated from Washington High School.
He entered the United States Army on July 10, 1942. During World War II, Bill was stationed in the Philippines and New Guinea where he served as a staff sergeant.
Following his honorable discharge on January 25, 1946, he returned to Sioux Falls. He worked at a few various jobs before starting Nims Roofing and Siding.
Bill was united in marriage with Charlotte Coffitt in Sioux Falls in 1948. She preceded him in death in 1974.
Bill enjoyed the outdoors, including hunting and fishing. He enjoyed traveling with his family. Later on in life Bill became a treasure hunter with his metal detector. He was very interested in American History, especially the Civil War period.
Grateful for having shared his life are his son, Monte Nims and his fiancée, Kaylene Young, Sioux Falls, SD; daughter, Jolene Nelson, Hartford, SD; sister, Flora Margeson, Sioux Falls, SD; brother, Frank Nims, Sioux Falls, SD; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife, Charlotte, he was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Fern Lemert.

Jonee Kay Rose (Broughton)
Died: Sep 19, 2003

Jonee Kay Rose (Broughton) daughter of Robert Rose and Kayleen (McCarney) Rose was born February 23, 1955 and grew up in Spencer, Iowa. She was educated in Spencer where she attended and graduated from Spencer High School. During high school she received the National Honor Society Award for outstanding achievement both in the classroom and out. Along with three friends, she set the state record in the team 10-flight shuttle hurdle race at the 1973 state track meet. She continued her education at the University of Iowa and Mankato State University, obtaining a BS in Medical Technology (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) in 1978.
She began her career at the Hartley, Iowa Hospital, which soon led to an opportunity to work in Sioux Falls at Avera McKennan Hospital from 1979 to 2000 where as a Medical Technologist she enjoyed helping set up a Stem Cell program.
Jonee was united in marriage with Eli James Broughton on April 3, 1983 in Sioux Falls, SD. and he was the center of her life. Her smile was forever bright from this day forward.
Jonee’s desire to understand all aspects of life led to many divergent interests and hobbies. Her creative abilities were evident in the quilts that she made, from simple patchwork style to demanding storybook creations. Her friends in the Quilting Group will forever be on her mind. Jonee helped start the Prairie Wings Cancer Survival Support Group in 2000. Both groups provided countless hours of comfort and unending smiles throughout her battle with cancer. Music played a big role in Jonee’s day-to-day activities and she always studied the lyrics so she could sing along while dancing to the beat. In 2000, she researched the use of computer chips to track the status of Marathon runners so the University of Okoboji Marathon could use this process in their annual run.
Grateful for having shared her life are her Mother and Father, brothers Jeff Rose (Debra), Kansas City, MO, Jim Rose (Pamela), Mt. Dora, FL; stepsons Jason Broughton (Lorisa) and their children Preston and Ashley, Corsica, SD, Justin (Alysia), Harrisburg, SD; and a host of special friends and relatives. Two of her special friends Tiger and Fuzzy, Maine Coon cats were always with her and provided hours of conversation and comforting naps.

Georgia Hazel Anderson

Hazel Georgia Hecker, daughter of Walter and Georgia (Dokter) Hecker, was born October 21, 1930, at Andover, SD. She grew up in the Butler and Bristol, SD area. She attended country school and then attended Bristol High School. She worked as a waitress during her high school years.
Georgia was united in marriage with Lyle Buhler in October of 1949 at Aberdeen, SD. They lived in Sioux Falls where she was a homemaker.
Georgia was united in marriage with Curt Anderson on January 20, 1968 at Watertown, SD and made their home in Sioux Falls. She was an accomplished artist and vocalist. She had a great sense of humor and made a lasting impression on everyone she met. She was a devout Christian and always known for being very kind, compassionate and sincere.

Patsy Ann Buchholz

Patsy Ann Heckenlaible, daughter of Alfred and Bertha (Hinzman) Heckenlaible, was born Dece28, 1946 at Yankton, SD. She grew up on the family farm near Menno, SD. As a young girl, the family moved to Sioux Falls where she graduated from Washington High School in 1964. She then attended Nettleton Business College.
Patsy was united in marriage with Morris Buchholz on August 21, 1965 at Sioux Falls, SD. They settled in Sioux Falls. In 1967, she began working for Sioux Steel in the Printing Department. She currently was the Manager of the Human Resources Department and a valued member of the Senior Management team at Sioux Steel.
She was an active member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, a 12 year member of the Board of Directors for Service First Federal Credit Union, and an active member of the Society for Human Resources Management since it’s inception. Patsy enjoyed her work and service to other organizations, she also enjoyed traveling, reading, sewing, and loved to go fishing.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband of 38 years, Morris Buchholz, Sioux Falls, SD; a step-sister, Ericka “Rickie” Ihnen, Tea, SD; two brother-in-laws, Del Ray Buchholz and his wife, Bonnie, Sioux Falls, SD, Mickey Buchholz and his wife, Pam, Viborg, SD; two sister-in-laws, Loxie Hockenberry and her husband, Tony, Sioux Falls, SD, Jackie Moeller and her husband, Doug, Sioux Falls, SD; 10 nieces and nephews, Char Nita, Joe’l, Sean, Craig and his wife, Emely, Scott and his wife, Angie, Stephanie and her husband, Gordon, Cody, Joshua, Halee, Zoey; and six great-nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
