Mildred A. Ridpath
Died: Nov 16, 2003

Mildred A. Enstad, daughter of Hans and Maria (Fossum) Enstad, was born January 5, 1913 in on a farm near Canton, SD. She grew up there graduated from Canton High School.
Mildred was united in marriage to George S. Ridpath on September 25, 1940 in Canton. This marriage was blessed with three children. They lived in Sioux Falls, SD where Mildred worked in the meat department at Sunshine Foods before retiring after 16 years of service.
Her best years were when they camped, went on fishing trips, or spent time at their cabin at Lake Oakwood. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Mildred became a resident at Canistota Good Samaritan Center on February 26, 2003, so she could be close to her daughter, who lives at Lake Vermillion.
Mildred was a member of St. John American Lutheran Church where she enjoyed circle and quilting.
Grateful for having shared her life are three children, Renae Christenson and her husband, Arlin, Cansitota, SD, Sheridan Ridpath, Kansas City, KS, Dennis Ridpath and his wife, Deanna, Kiowa, OK; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a special sister-in-law, Marge Enstad and her twin sister, Martha, Canton, SD; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, George, on July 15, 1983; her parents; two brothers, Obel, Merlyn; and one sister, Ethel.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the family for lunch and fellowship at St. John American Lutheran Church following the committal service.

Hans G. Spilde
Died: Nov 12, 2003

Hans Gerhard Spilde, son of Nels L. and Christine (Knutson) Spilde, was born March 2, 1911 at Hetland, SD. He was baptized and confirmed at North Preston Lutheran Church. He graduated from Lake Preston High School in 1929 and attended St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN for two years. He also completed course study in electronics and radio at Dunwoody Institute, Minneapolis, MN.
Hans was united in marriage with Alida Stadem at First Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls, SD on January 1, 1942. Hans entered the U.S. Army on May 15, 1942. He served in the Transportation Division during World War II and attained the rank of Captain while stationed in Honolulu, HI. Following his honorable discharge, the couple lived in Sioux Falls. Hans was employed at Locke Electric and Rheinhard Brothers prior to a long career with the Sioux Falls Caterpillar dealerships, Foster-Bell Company and Kearns Machinery Company. He retired at the age of 70.
Hans was a charter member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church where he served as a deacon and taught Sunday School. During retirement he was a member of Sioux Falls “Golden K” Kiwanis Club and regularly volunteered visiting the elderly in area nursing homes. He and his wife especially enjoyed fishing and spending time at their Lake Madison cabin.
Grateful for having share his life are his wife, Alida; his children, Eloise Hefty and her husband, Ronald, Sioux Falls, SD, Bonnie Hilt and her husband, Joseph, Rapid City, SD, Gary Spilde and his wife, Shirley, Beresford, SD, Daniel Spilde and his wife, Kathleen, Woodbury, MN; eight grandchildren, Bradley Stensaas, Chad Hilt and his wife, Terri, Laura and Matthew Hilt, Kyle and Kayla Spilde, Danny and Alisa Spilde; three great-grandchildren, Nicholas Stensaas, Breanne and Brandon Hilt; five step-grandchildren, Brian Hefty and his wife, Jenny, Darren Hefty and his wife, Shana, Jannel Brueggeman and her husband, Paul, Debra Hilt, Tom Hilt and his wife, Jamie; six step-great-grandchildren, Zachary Hefty, Mason Hefty, Kevin, Abbey, Mia and Lily Hilt; a sister-in-law, Agnes Spilde, Lake Preston, SD; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Hans was preceded in death by a grandson; his parents; five brothers; and four sisters.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the family for lunch and fellowship at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church following the funeral service and prior to leaving for the committal service.

Dorothy E. Mushrush
Died: Nov 11, 2003

Dorothy Evelyn Hay, daughter of Roy and Jessie (Shaw) Hay, was born August 16, 1914 in Lake Park, IA. She grew up there and graduated from Lake Park High School.
Dorothy was united in marriage with Lloyd Mushrush in Lake Park on June 27, 1937. The couple farmed near Klondike before moving to Sioux Falls, SD. They owned and operated Mushrush Garbage Service before moving to Milaca, MN. Dorothy worked for a time at the University of Minnesota. The couple later lived in New Brighton, MN and Princeton, MN before moving to Marion, SD in 1970. Following Lloyd’s death on April 6, 1976 Dorothy moved to Parker, SD
Dorothy was united in marriage with George Schilling in Sioux Falls in 1979. The couple lived in Sibley, IA. Following George’s death in April of 1991 Dorothy returned to Parker for a time before moving to Arizona.
Grateful for having shared her life are several nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Lola Sunde, Sioux Falls, SD, Margie Sylvester, Spencer, IA; and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her husbands, Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ralph Hay.

Dustin James "Dusty" Madsen
Died: Nov 9, 2003

Dustin James “Dusty” Madsen, son of Janice Madsen, was born April 8, 1980 in Sioux Falls, SD. He grew up there and graduated from Washington High School in 1999. He then attended Southwest State University in Marshall, MN.
Dusty was active in Junior Sioux Wheelers Basketball for several years. He was also involved with the Children’s Miracle Network.
Grateful for having shared his life are his mother, Janice Madsen Alderany and her husband, Feras, Sioux Falls, SD; a brother, Shane Madsen, Denver, CO; a twin sister, Michelle Robinson, Deland, FL; two aunts, Kathy Larson and her husband, Terry, Huron, SD, Betty Kelchen and her husband, Larry, Cedar Rapids, IA; four uncles, Leroy Madsen and his wife, Donna, Huron, SD, Kenny Madsen and his wife, Esther, Huron, SD, Donald Madsen and his wife, Donna, Fort Dodge, IA, Larry Madsen, Cedar Rapids, IA; three special friends, Bryce Neu, Sioux Falls, SD, Jeff Maines, Centerville, SD, Brooks Fiebelkorn, Beresford, SD; his godmother, Susan Caufield, of Washington; and a host of extended family and friends.

Rosemary Wright
Died: Nov 5, 2003

Rosemary Bultman, daughter of Clarence and RoseAnn (Trauger) Bultman, was born January 8, 1946 at Bismarck, ND. As a young girl and after the death of her father, the family moved to Hawarden, IA. She grew up and was educated there. She graduated in 1964 from West Sioux Community High School at Hawarden. She then attended Bismarck Community College, in North Dakota.
Rosemary was united in marriage with Bruce Wright on December 16, 1967 at Bismarck, ND. They moved to Sioux Falls to January 1968. She worked for Carter Elevator, which became Montgomery/KONE. In July of 2002, she took a leave of absence and subsequently retired in February 2003.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church. Rosemary was very active in her children’s lives, which included being a soccer and band mother. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, needlepoint, and quilting. Her love for her family was her true focus in her life.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Bruce, Sioux Falls, SD; a son, Jason Wright and his wife, Julie, Maple Grove, MN; a daughter, Nicole Wright of Plymouth, MN; a special grandson, Austin Wright of Maple Grove, MN; her mother, RoseAnn Herrmann of Mandan, ND; a brother, Wayne Bultman and his wife, Mary, Green Bay, WI; a sister, Nadine Ehrhardt and her husband, Fred, of Bismarck, ND; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Schultz and her husband, Bill, of Cherry Valley, CA, Dorothy Kahl and her husband, Clarence, of East Grand Forks, MN; seven nieces; five nephews; and host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Bultman; and her step-father, Adolf Herrmann.

Alfretta Catherine Kemper
Died: Nov 4, 2003

Alfretta Catherine Bakenol, daughter of Joseph and Catherine (Krantz) Balkenol was born May 27, 1922 in Lismore, MN. She grew up and received her education in Lismore, MN.
Alfretta was united in marriage with Raphael “Sonny” Kemper on January 27, 1946 in Jasper, MN. The couple made their home in Sioux Falls in 1954 where Alfretta was employed at Sunshine Bakery until her retirement.
She enjoyed golfing and going on vacations.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Raphael “Sonny” Kemper, Sioux Falls, SD; and many friends.
Alfretta was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Wilfred and Ralph Balkenol.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the family for lunch and fellowship at St. Mary’s Catholic Church following the committal service.

Eugene Fujan

Funeral services for Eugene "Gene" G. Fujan will take place in Worthington, Minn., on Friday, July 1, 2005. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. A rosary will be held at 1:30 p.m. and Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 2 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Larry Brixius officiating.
Eugene "Gene" G. Fujan was born the son of Frank and Marie Fujan on the family farm in Walnut Grove, Minn., September 25, 1935. Gene was the fourth of six children. He graduated from Walnut Grove High School in 1953 and attended Saint John's University. He in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957 and then enrolled in the University of Saint Thomas.
While attending Saint Thomas, Gene met "Teddy" Theodora Christy Niemi. Following their courtship, they exchanged their lifelong vows on August 9, 1958 in Duluth, Minn. Returning to the farm in Walnut Grove, Gene and Teddy started a family. Teddy gave birth to three sons, David, Mark, Bruce and one daughter, Susette Christy. After four and one half years of farming on Plum Creek in Walnut Grove, Gene began a new career path as an agent for the State Farm Insurance Companies. Gene was admired, respected and well liked by his peers for his integrity, humility, hard work and sense of humor. Gene concluded his State Farm career on December 31, 2001.
Gene and Teddy have enjoyed their retirement between the "Love Nest" in Las Vegas, Nev., and "Mimihaha" in Spearfish Canyon. They have made their home a welcoming place to many friends and family over the years.
Eugene George Fujan met the face of God on June 27, 2005. He left behind a beautiful wife Teddy, four wonderful children, David Fujan of Tamarac, Fla., Mark Fujan and wife Sonya of Fairmont, Minn., Bruce Fujan and wife Robbi of Rochester, Minn., and Susette Steffl and husband Patrick of Brandon. He is also survived by 12 fabulous grandchildren; Jessica, Andrea, Melissa, Joseph, Brianna, Caitlin, Reed, Daniel, Samuel, Nicholas, Theodore, and Charles.
Gene was loved and respected by hundreds, if not thousands, of persons with whom he shared his life, and considered friends.
He was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where he taught religious education for over 40 years, and lectured on Sundays. In addition, Gene was an active member of numerous organizations over the years in the Worthington community.
Gene was a great man and he will be missed by his family and the many lives he has touched.
Arrangements have been placed in the care of Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel of Spearfish.

Lucille Kent (Stoughton) Whitlock

Lucille Kent (Stoughton) Whitlock, 92, of Spearfish, joined the angels on June 6, 2006.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 10, 2006, at the United Methodist Church in Spearfish. Family inurnment will take place at Rose Hill cemetery in Spearfish.
A memorial has been established to benefit the David M. Dorsett Regional Senior Care Center in Spearfish.
Lucille was born April 2, 1914, in Arpan to Louella May (Kent) and Frank A. Stoughton.
Lucile graduated from Belle Fourche High School in 1931, and attended Black Hills Normal School for one year. She worked for the WPA and as a notary public at the Belle Fourche courthouse.
In 1939, she married James Russell Whitlock.
Lucille loved being a mother and a housewife. In the late 1950s she went to work as the secretary for the United Methodist Church in Spearfish, where she worked for 32 years. Lucille was a member of the Modern Mother's Club in Spearfish and served as courtesy chairman.
She was a truly loving and nonjudgmental person who saw the good in everything and everyone. Her gentle and loving spirit will be missed by all her family including her three sons and their wives, David and Natalya, Jim and Carson, and Chuck and Carol; her grandchildren; her great grandchildren; is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Rollie Hallinger; her sister, Esther Noble; and brother and sisters-in-law, Ed and Doris Long and Georgia Whitlock. Her husband, Russ, and her parents preceded her in death.
Arrangements have been placed in the care of Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel of Spearfish.

James Bousa

Torrance, California - James Bousa was born April 22, 1915, outside Gregory, S.D., to Anton and Emilie Bousa. He attended school in Colome and Gregory. He was in the Civilian Conservation Corps at Rockerville and outside Custer.
He joined the US Army and was in the 4th Cavalry at Fort Meade. He participated in the last maneuvers by horseback from Ft. Meade to Pole Mountain near Laramie, Wyoming. They averaged 30 miles a day. He fought in Europe during World War II. He was in the Normandy, Rhineland and Northern France campaigns. Also, he fought in the Battle of the Bulge and received a Bronze Star.
Jim married Peggy Thoresen in 1942 and lived in Central City and then on Maitland Road outside Deadwood. They had two daughters, Judy and Sandra. He worked for Berry's Post Plant, Homestake for six years, and Black Hills Power & Light for 26 years at the Kirk Power Plant, retiring in 1979. After the death of his wife in 1983, he moved to Spearfish, living in the Willow apartments. Later he moved to Rapid City near his daughter Judy. Then he moved to California to be with his daughter Sandra. He enjoyed deer hunting, cars and guns, as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He died in Torrance, Calif. on July 31, 2006.
He is survived by his daughter Judy (Pierre) Marcoe, Rapid City, S.D., and his daughter Sandra (George) Gratz, Torrance, Calif., and by seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother Henry Bousa of Sundance, Wyo. Jim was preceded in death by his wife and four sisters.
Visitation will be Monday, Aug. 7, from 2pm to 4pm at the Black Hills Funeral Home at 1440 Junction Ave. in Sturgis. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 8, at 10 a.m. at the Black Hills National cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a luncheon at the Bay Leaf Café in Spearfish at 12:30 following the service. A memorial has been established to the Ft. Meade Museum.
