LENORA ISAAK

The funeral service for Lenora Isaak, 95 of Aberdeen, will be 11am Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, with Pastor Ross Prevo officiating. Burial will be at 3:30pm at the Seventh-Day Adventist Cemetery, Kulm, ND. Lenora died Friday, August 17, 2007 at Avera Mother Joseph Manor, Aberdeen.

Visitation is 1-7 pm Tuesday, August 21 at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen. Family will be present from 5 to 7pm.

Lenora Meidinger was born on August 24, 1911 to Jake and Justina (Pietz) Meidinger at Fredonia, ND.

Lenora married Oscar Isaak on July 16, 1935 at Leola, SD. Following their marriage, they moved to Aberdeen in 1951. Lenora worked at St. Luke’s Hospital until 1972. They have resided here since. Lenora and Oscar were happily married for over seventy-two years.

Lenora enjoyed embroidery, quilting and cooking. She made quilts for all of her family and friends. Lenora especially loved to prepare large meals to share with and family and friends.

Grateful for having shared Lenora’s life are her husband, Oscar of Aberdeen, her son Arnie (Mona) Isaak of Aberdeen, daughter Donna (Ron) Brown of Tulsa, OK, one brother, Paul Meidinger of Ashley, ND and two sisters, Rose Steimenitz of Kulm, ND and Ruth Walker of Ashley, ND , four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Lenora was preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Justina, an infant son Roger, three brothers and four sisters

ROBERT DILLDINE

A memorial service for Robert Dilldine, 54, of Martin, formerly of Aberdeen, will be 11:00 am Saturday, August 18, 2007 at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home with Dr. Harold E. Salem officiating. Robert died Sunday, August 12, 2007 at Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, SD.

Robert G. Dilldine was born on September 4, 1952 in White County, TN to Herbert & Sarah (Carter) Dilldine. He served in the US Army for numerous years.

On June 26, 2004, Robert married Jane (Runnels) Dilldine in Hot Springs, SD. Robert worked as a Clinical Engineer for the Bio-Med Program for the Aberdeen Area Indian Health Service for fifteen years.

Robert enjoyed motorcycling, fishing, being outdoors, and working in his yard and garden.

Grateful for having shared Robert’s life are his wife, Jane Dilldine, Martin, SD; step-children, Tonya & Richard Tiger; his son, Donovon Dilldine; grandson, Tyler Dilldine; two brothers, Alvin Dilldine, Lloyd Dilldine, two sisters, Margaret Marsh, Katherine Made; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert & Sarah; and one brother HT Dilldine and his grandparents.

LYDIA M. BAIN

The memorial service for Lydia M. Bain, 95, of Aberdeen, will be at1:00 pm, Monday, August 20, 2007 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Hyle Anderson officiating. Lydia died at Aberdeen Health & Rehab on August 15, 2007.

Lydia M. Dobrick was born February 19, 1912, to Robert and Martha (Angerhofer) Dobrick at Minneapolis, MN. She attended country school near Aberdeen. She graduated from school in 1927.

After school she married Alva Bain on May 16, 1929, at her parents home near Aberdeen. They made their first home at her parent’s farm for one year. They moved west of Aberdeen and farmed until 1969 when they moved into Aberdeen. Mr. Bain died on January 25, 1970. Lydia continued to make her home in Aberdeen until her death.

Besides being busy raising twelve children and helping on the farm she enjoyed crafts, dressing dolls, collecting bears and crocheting. In her later years she enjoyed watching old westerns and Little House on the Prairie. She very much enjoyed reading books.

Grateful for having shared Lydia’s life are her five sons, Arnold (Donna) Bain, Aberdeen; Donald (Pam) Bain, Flint, MT; Robert ( Linda) Bain, Sioux Falls; Larry (Deb) Bain, Aberdeen; Michael (Tammy) Bain, Aberdeen; and her six daughters, Mary Pudwill, Bellevue, WA; Betty Allmendinger, Sioux Falls; Shirley (Merle) Freeman, Aberdeen; Kathleen (Melvin) Allmendinger, Sioux Falls; Susan (Robert) Sayer, Aberdeen; Carol (Lyle) Grovenburg, Aberdeen; thirty-five grandchildren; and sixty-three great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by both of her parents and her husband, Alva Bain; one brother, Oscar Dobrick, and one daughter, Ella Mae Bain.

ROBERT DAVIES

The service for Robert Davies, 52, Aberdeen will be 11:00 am, Thursday, August 16, 2007 at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home with Pastor Kerry Ascher officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. Robert died Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St.

EMGARD LOEBS

The funeral service for Emgard Loebs, 93, of Aberdeen, will be 10:00 am Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at Calvary Baptist Church, with Pastor Randy Battey officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Emgard died Saturday, August 11, at Aberdeen Health and Rehab.

Visitation is 1-7 pm Tuesday, August 14, with family present from 5-7, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen.

Emgard Mund was born on March 2, 1914 to Jacob and Katherine (Reich) Mund at Fredonia, ND. This is the area where she grew up and attended rural school. She worked on the family farm. At the age of twenty she left home to work for others in their homes.

On September 25, 1936, Emgard married Edwin Loebs in Leola, SD. They made their home on a farm in the area. In 1963, they moved into the city of Leola. Edwin died on March 26, 1992. Emgard moved to Aberdeen in 1999.

Emgard was a member of First Baptist Church in Leola and later became a member at Calvary Baptist Church in Aberdeen. Over the years, she taught cradle roll and Sunday school, played piano, and sang in the choir. She was active in Ladies Aid, Mary Martha’s Society and was a member of White Cross and was past president for 25 years. She enjoyed babysitting, gardening, and quilting.

Grateful for having shared Emgard’s life are her two sons, Leslie (Darlene) Loebs of Deerwood, MN and Melvin (Helen) Loebs of Aberdeen, SD, daughter Sharlene (Darrel) Chapman of Greeley, CO, four grandchildren, Sheila (Art) Bustamante of Tucson, AZ, John (Melissa) Loebs of Aberdeen, Rodney Chapman of Greeley, CO and Roxanne (Pat) Parsoneault, of Cheyenne, WY, three great grandchildren, Emma Loebs, Brandi Chapman, and Megan Parsoneault, her brother, Clifford (Linda) Mund, of Mandan, ND, and sister Esther Schill of Pierre, SD.

Emgard was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Katherine, her husband, Edwin, three brothers, Leonard Mund, Wilbert Mund and Ervin Mund, and four sisters, Stella Mund, Leah Johnson, Adeline Opp and Alma Mjolsness.

IRMA M. ZOELLNER

The funeral service for Irma Mary Zoellner, 99 of Aberdeen, is 2:00 pm Monday, August 13, 2007 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Chapel, Pastor Roger Noer officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Irma passed away on August 10, at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen. Her passing ended a long battle with a number of illnesses of old age.

Visitation is 2-7 pm Sunday, August 12 at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Irma Mary Sager was born January 19, 1908 to August and Emma (Stange) Sager at Groton, SD. She married Elmer “Shorty” Zoellner on September 20, 1933. They farmed on the Zoellner homestead. She was born, educated, and raised a family in this community. Irma was very proud of her religion. She went to Wisconsin, where her family came from, and after two years of study, she was confirmed at St. Steavens Church in Horicon, Wisconsin.

She enjoyed gardening and growing flowers, she especially enjoyed growing roses. Her love of music led her to play piano at dances. She also played on a girl’s softball team. She worked on the cook car for several years and was an extremely good cook and seamstress.

Grateful for having shared Irma’s life are, her children, Myron (Lana) Zoellner, Aberdeen; two daughters Lovila (Donus) Roberts, Watertown; Audrey (Randy) Bender, Lafayette, CO; five grandchildren, Cindy (Brad) Schnabel; Mark (Angie) Zoellner; Robyn (Dan) Van Horn; April Bender; Ryan Bender; and four great grandchildren, Brandy (Michael) Fosdick; Shawn Schnabel; Kate Van Horn; and Luke Van Horn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; August and Emma; her husband, Elmer; three brothers, Oscar, John and Joe Sager; one sister, Lorna Sager; and one granddaughter, Marlo Lynn.

JAMES “HOVIE” HOVRUD

The services for James “Hovie” Hovrud, 57, of Aberdeen will be 1:00 pm Monday, August 13, 2007, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul Svingen officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. James died Wednesday, August 8, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital.

Visitation will be from 2-7 pm Sunday, August 12, with family present from 5-7 pm, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., and one hour prior to the funeral at the church.

James R. (Hovie) Hovrud was born March 8, 1950 to Engvald & Pearl (Herron) Hovrud. He attended country school through the eighth grade. Jim then attended Aberdeen Public Schools, graduating in 1968.

Jim was united in marriage to Deb (Kurtz) on October 16, 1971. From this union they had one daughter, Melissa.

Jim & Deb owned and operated the Overhead Bait Shop for fifteen years. Upon selling the business Jim went to work for 3M, where he was currently employed as a lab tech.

Jim thoroughly enjoyed bowling, starting in junior league and continuing on through many leagues. Through the years he formed many long lasting friendships. Bowling became a family sport and Jim loved bowling with his granddaughter, Brenna.

Jim enjoyed fantasy football & baseball. He especially liked watching his Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Orioles. Jim was a big NASCAR Racing fan. He loved spending time with his family and friends, but most of all, he loved spoiling Brenna.

Grateful for having shared Jim’s life are his wife, Deb; daughter, Missy (Jason) Hill, Aberdeen; granddaughter, Brenna Hill; father-in-law, Jerald Lout, Aberdeen; his sister-in-laws, Connie and Ronald Herman, Aberdeen and Denise and Chad Lyke, Aberdeen; brother-in-laws, Byron Kurtz, Aberdeen; Rod & Kim Kurtz, Aberdeen; and Calvin and Susan Lout, Armour, SD; and several nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Engvald & Pearl; his brother, Kenneth; a granddaughter, Hattie; grandparents; his mother-in-law, Beverly Lout; and several aunts & uncles.

WALTER “GEORGE” SCHERBENSKE

Services for Walter “George” Scherbenske, 76, Aberdeen are 2 pm, Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at the Aberdeen Alliance Church with Pastor Kerry Ascher officiating. Burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors by the Sidney L. Smith American Legion Post 24. Walter died Friday, August 3, 2007 at the VA Medical Center, Sioux Falls, SD.

Visitation will be 1-7 pm, Monday at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St. with family present from 5-7.

The family prefers memorials.

Walter Scherbenske was born on April 16, 1931 at Artas, SD to George and Lydia (Preszler) Scherbenske. This is the area where he grew up and attended school. In 1944 the family moved to a farm near Leola, SD where he graduated from Leola High School with the class of 1947. On February 6, 1952 he entered the US Army and was honorably discharged on January 5, 1954. He moved back to the family farm and on October 23, 1963 he married Shirley Kolb in Aberdeen. They made their home on the family farm near Leola until 1977 when they moved to Aberdeen. He worked on the Dennis Jones farm for several years. He also worked for his son, Randy, the Anderson’s and Liens.

Walter was a member of the Aberdeen Alliance Church. He enjoyed fixing things and working in his shop. He especially enjoyed retrieving (going on road trips) cars for Randy. Walter also loved collecting Bugs Bunny memorabilia. He especially loved his grandchildren and spending time with them.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Shirley Scherbenske, Aberdeen, children, Sheryl Schoenfelder, Aberdeen, Bob (Shelley) Scherbenske, Watertown, Randy (Laura) Scherbenske, Aberdeen, Sherrie Scherbenske, Aberdeen, grandchildren, Brittany and Cade Scherbenske, Maressa Schoenfelder, Brett and Abbey Scherbenske, special friend, Dalton Flahaven, sister, Darlene Heupel, Aberdeen.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Reuben and Eugene Scherbenske, sisters, Erna Helfenstein, Ella Diede and Olivia Rogers.

Casket bearers will be his children and grandchildren.

PAULINE WEISZ

Services for Pauline Weisz, 93, Sibley, Iowa will be at 10:30am Friday, August 3, 2007 at Zion Lutheran Church in Aberdeen with Pastor Tanya Rist officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Memorial Park, Aberdeen.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 2, from 1-7 with family present from 5-7pm and a prayer service at 7 pm at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home 1111 S Main St. Aberdeen.

Pauline Heiser was born on September 20, 1913 at Mound City, SD to Jacob and Dorothy (Schick) Heiser. This is the area where she grew up and attended school. Pauline married Arthur Metzger at Mound City, SD. To this union, they had one son, Donald Arthur Metzger. They made their home on a farm near Mound City and later moved to Aberdeen, SD where she worked for Northern State College until she retired. Mr. Metzger died July 3, 1969 in Aberdeen. Pauline married Jake Weisz in Aberdeen, Mr. Weisz died in June, 1985 in Aberdeen. She continued to make Aberdeen her home.

Pauline is survived by her grandsons Jack Metzger and Paul Metzger, her granddaughters Marti Novak and her husband Mitch, and Rachel Christensen and her husband Mike, step-son, Del Weisz and his wife Darlene, step-daughter, Rosemary Wolsky and her husband Dwaine, her sisters Ella Klingman and her husband Walter, and Albena Klingman, thirteen great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter and numerous nephews and nieces.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents Jacob & Dorothy Heiser, her first husband Art Metzger, and her second husband Jake Weisz, her son Rev. Donald Arthur Metzger, her daughter-in-law Roxie Metzger, a granddaughter, IrvaGay Marie Metzger, brothers, Bill Heiser, Edward Heiser, Edwin Heiser, and Milbert Heiser, and her sisters Martha Holzworth, Irma Stadel, Anna Merritt, and Ida Bucholz.
