DEBRA LEE SELZLER

The memorial service for Debra Lee Selzler, 48, of Aberdeen, will be 10:00 am Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at First United Methodist Church, Pastor Tom Haggar officiating. Burial of the urn will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen. Debra died Saturday, February 11, 2006 at her home after a long battle with cancer.

Debra Lee Schulz was born on April 1, 1957 to Paul and Mary (Schnieder) Schulz at Oakes, ND. She grew up in Oakes and attended school there. Debra graduated from Oakes High School. While in school, she volunteered and worked at the Oakes Hospital and Good Samaritan Center. Debra attended Presentation College where she was on the Dean’s List.

Debra married Lyle Jackson on November 3, 1975. They had two children, Katie and Dan.

She graduated from Presentation in May of 1978 with an Associate in Science degree in Nursing. After graduating, she started work at Dakota Midland Hospital on October 16, 1978.

Debra married Markcus Selzler on April 20, 1987. They had two children, Mike and David.

Debra was a member of First United Methodist Church, and was also a member of Lambs Club. She enjoyed her flower garden at her home. Debra also loved to read. Most of all, Debra loved her family.

Grateful for having shared Debra’s life are her husband, Markcus Selzler of Aberdeen, three sons, Daniel (Jessica) Jackson of Oakes, ND, Michael Selzler, and David Selzler, both of Aberdeen, daughter, Katie (Bill) Stewart of Phoenix, AZ, step-son, Markcus Selzler, Jr. of Andover, two step-daughters, Shannon Selzler of New Jersey and Cassandra Selzler of Orlando FL, father, Paul Schulz of Oakes, ND, four sisters, Pamela (Terry) Haven of Britton, SD, Kathryn (Wayne) Doty, Paula (Craig) Nell, and Julie Schulz, all of Oakes, ND, and three grandchildren, Shana M. Jackson, Brianna Selzler and Skylar Selzler.

Debra was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ella Schulz.

MARY WANDRY

The funeral service for Mary Wandry, 79, Aberdeen, is 2:00 pm, Friday, February 10, 2006 at First Baptist Church, Dr. Harold E. Salem officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen. Mary died Tuesday, February 7, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital, Aberdeen.

Visitation is 1-7 pm Thursday at the Spitzer Funeral Home, 320 6th Ave. SE and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Mary Schott was born on June 20, 1926 to Gottlieb and Rosina (Bauer) Schott at Long Lake, SD. She grew up on the family farm near Long Lake and attended school there. After school, Mary moved to Aberdeen where she worked as a store clerk at Newberry’s.

Mary married Ernest W. Wandry on January 21, 1946 at Andover, SD. They made their home on a farm in the Columbia area until moving to Aberdeen in 1957. In 1959 they moved to Frederick, SD where they owned Ernie’s and Mary’s Recreation. They then returned to Aberdeen where Mary worked as a clerk at Tempo. Later, she started work at 3-M as a machine operator until her retirement in 1988.

Ernest died January 26, 1989 at Aberdeen.

Mary married Reno Tunnicliff in 1995 and he died in July, 1996.

Mary was a member of First Baptist Church. She was known for her great cooking. Mary enjoyed making floral arrangements. She often baked for friends and family and was always willing to help others in need. Mary was a hard worker, but she lived for her children and grandchildren.

Grateful for having shared Mary’s life are her son, Gerald (Betty) Wandry and two daughters, Karen (John) Smith and Peggy (Donald) Foster, all of Aberdeen; step-son, Robert Sieber, Mina, SD; two brothers, George Schott, Britton, SD and Walter (Phyllis) Schott, Aberdeen; five sisters, Alvina Bertsch, Aberdeen, Ramona (Jerry) Johnke, Sioux Falls, SD, Vivian Walters, Kansas City, MO, Betty Suedmeier, Aberdeen, and Gladys (Bill) Hutson, Niceville, FL; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Gottlieb and Rosina Schott, her husbands, Ernest Wandry and Reno Tunnicliff, grandson Jeremy Voeller and two infant grandsons.

ELVERA “TOODY” HOSS

Funeral for Elvera “Toody” Hoss, 80, Aberdeen will be 10 am, Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Pastor Jeff Whillock officiating. Burial at 2:00 pm at the Wayside Cemetery, Frederick. Toody died Wednesday, January 18 at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital.

Visitation: 1-7 pm, Monday at Spitzer Funeral Home, 320 6th Ave. SE with a prayer service at 7.

In Lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Elvera Erna Schlosser was born on July 10, 1925 at Madison, MN to William and Anna (Schmaal) Schlosser. The family moved to Frederick, SD where they farmed for many years and later moved to Barnard, SD. She graduated from Barnard High School and taught school for two years in Richland Township. On June 19, 1945 she married Ray Hoss at Aberdeen. She worked for the Coop “Big Store” and the Frederick School lunch program. In 1972 they moved to Aberdeen where she worked as a supply technician at St. Luke’s Hospital for twenty-two years. She retired in 1994 when her husband became ill. Ray died on October 21, 1996 at Aberdeen.

Toody was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, RSVP and the Moose Auxiliary. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards and helping all of her children.

Grateful for having shared Toody’s life are three daughters, Sandra Maier, Aberdeen, Pat (Bob) Reiner, Waubay, SD, Kathy (Rod) Barr, Aberdeen, five grandchildren, Elizabeth Maier, Ron (Aliesha) Reiner, Ryan (Tiffany) Barr, Kevin Barr and Shelley Heitland, and Rory (Laura) Reiner, six great-grandchildren, Preston Barr, Greta Maier, Blake Reiner, Spencer Barr, Cale Reiner and Hannah Reiner, and sisters, Marie Watkins, Mound, MN, Erma Anderson, Minneapolis, MN and Lois (Bill) Bartus, Greeley, CO

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter, two grandsons, Stewart Barr and Rob Reiner, two brothers, Edwin and Rudolph Schlosser and sister, Elda Schmaal.

Casket bearers will be Ron Reiner, Ryan Barr, Kevin Barr, Rory Reiner, Elizabeth Maier, Rod Barr and Bob Reiner.

KRYSTAL SWEET ANN HALLIBURTON

The funeral service for Krystal Sweet Ann Halliburton, seven months, of Aberdeen is 10:00 am Monday, January 16, 2006 at Spitzer Funeral Home, 320 6th Ave. SE, Aberdeen with Pastor Gary Compton and Pastor Deb Barnett officiating.

BRANDON JOSEPH LaROCHE

The funeral service for Brandon Joseph LaRoche, 19, Aberdeen, is 10:00 am Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at Melgaard Park Baptist Church with Pastor Neil Hannahs officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen. Brandon died Thursday, January 12, in a car accident in Aberdeen.

Visitation is from 1 pm to 7 pm Tuesday, at Spitzer Funeral Home, 320 6th Ave. SE, Aberdeen, followed by an all night wake from 7 pm to 7 am.

Brandon Joseph LaRoche was born on June 27, 1986 to Alyce Scares The Hawk at Eagle Butte, SD. His family moved to Aberdeen when he was an infant. He grew up in Aberdeen and attended school there. Brandon then attended Joe Foss High School in Sioux Falls, SD, graduating with the class of 2004.

Brandon attended Melgaard Park Baptist Church. He worked for a custodial contractor in Aberdeen, doing most of his work at Kessler’s. Brandon enjoyed listening to music. He also loved to play video games and basketball with his friends.

Grateful for having shared Brandon’s life are his mother, Alyce LaRoche, father Martin LaRoche, Sr., both of Aberdeen, three brothers, Shane LeBeau of Minneapolis, MN, Marty LaRoche, Jr. of Aberdeen, and Thomas LaRoche of Aberdeen, and four sisters, Amber Laundreaux, of Eagle Butte, SD, Michelle LaRoche of Aberdeen, Cassandra LaRoche of Aberdeen, and Sarah LaRoche of Aberdeen.

Brandon was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Raymond and Flora Scares The Hawk and his aunt, Dawn Scares The Hawk.

MARTHA MEIER

The funeral service for Martha Meier, 95, of Ellendale, ND, formerly of Aberdeen, is 2:00 pm Monday, January 16, 2006 at Spitzer Funeral Home, 320 6th Ave. SE, Aberdeen, with Pastor Loren Leonard officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Martha died Wednesday, January 11, at Prince of Peace Care Center, Ellendale.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Martha Bradke was born on March 11, 1910 to Edward and Louise (Reiman) Bradke at Barnard, SD. She grew up in Barnard and graduated from Barnard High School. Martha then attended Northern State Teacher’s College, receiving her teaching degree. She taught at various rural and public schools including Columbia and Roslyn, SD. She then taught in Sandpoint, ID for around 30 years until her retirement. Teaching brought Martha great joy and she truly loved the children she worked with.

Martha married Henry (Hank) Meier on November 26, 1947 at Webster, SD. They lived in Aberdeen until 1956 when they moved to Sandpoint, Idaho. They then returned to Aberdeen in 1975. Hank died on December 17, 1985.

Martha was a past member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Aberdeen. Martha loved the church.

Grateful for having shared Martha’s life are her daughter, Hazel Edwards of Aberdeen, grandchildren, Raymond (Joan) Shatzka, of Post Falls, ID, Lorie Moritomo of Aberdeen, and Tawna (Russ) Kracman, of Marshfield, MO, great grandchildren, Raianna Shatzka, Christopher Kawp, Kari Hallett, Jessica Crawford, Tasha Kracman, Dana Kracman, Kaleb Kracman, and great grandchildren, Brandon Hallett, and Julianna Crawford.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Henry (Hank) Meier, her parents, Edward and Louise Bradke, her granddaughter, Schirleen Faye Schwabe, four brothers, Adolph Bradke, Paul Bradke, Gus Bradke, and Alfred Bradke, and her sister, Elsie Bradke.

JAY ALAN KLEIN

Memorial service for Jay Alan Klein, 40 Ellendale will be 3:00 pm, Wedneday, January 11, 2006 at Spitzer Funeral Home, 320 6th Ave. SE with Father James Zimmer officiating. Jay began his eternal life with Christ on Sunday, January 8, 2006.

Jay A. Klein was born on February 3, 1965 to DeSales & Elaine (Feist) Klein in Bismarck, ND. When he was 8 months old he went to live at Grafton State Hospital. At the age of thirty, he moved to a group home in Bismarck, ND and during the days he spent his time at H. I. T., Inc. and lived there until he was 39 and moved to Prince of Peace Nursing Home in Ellendale, ND.

Now that the limitations of his fragile body are lifted, Jay is able to do the things in heaven that he was not able to do on earth. Despite these physical limitations Jay’s heart was not the least bit handicapped. He had a boundless love for his family, children and animals.

To Quote Nelson Mandela, “When we were born we cried as the people around us smiled. Live life so that when you die you are smiling as the people around you cry.” Despite all of the things that Jay could not do, he was still able to accomplish this great feat. He will be missed greatly by his family and many friends who are comforted by the fact that heaven just gained one more angel.

Grateful for having shared Jay’s life are his parents, DeSales and Elaine Klein, Aberdeen, Sister, Lynn (Rick) Reber, Aberdeen, brothers, Kevin (Kathy) Klein, Detroit Lakes, MN, Kyle (Karri) Klein, Sioux Falls, SD, Eric Klein, Phoenix, AZ, five nieces, Jaimie (Corey) Mitchell, Jill Reber, Jennifer Klein, Britny and Katelyn Olson, several uncles, aunts including his Godparents, Ivo and Marian Klein and cousins.

Jay is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Andrew and Viola Klein, maternal grandparents, Valentine and Stephina Feist.

DEBORAH JANE HUCKABY

Service for Deborah Jane Huckaby, Aberdeen, is 12:00 pm, Saturday, January 14, 2006 at Spitzer Funeral Home with Father Gregory Tschakert officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Deborah was stillborn at Sioux Valley Hospital, Sioux Falls on January 5.

Survivors include her parents, Trevor and Sandra Huckaby, sister, Abby Huckaby, all of Aberdeen, grandparents, Dennis and Deborah Huckaby of Rapid City, Raymond and Jane Barke of Aberdeen, great-grandparents, James and Ruby Schwan of Aberdeen, Nona Ziemann of Hermitage, TN, Mertice Barke of Aberdeen, Reinhold and Elma Delzer of Aberdeen, uncles and aunts, Sandra D. Huckaby of Rapid City, Marie and Jeremy Fish, Jason and Susan Barke, Shaun Huckaby, Karla and David Holsworth all of Aberdeen and Nicole Huckaby of Rapid City, cousins, Paige and Tevin Fish, Hayley, William and Alexis Bohndorf, and Madison Holsworth.

Deborah is preceded in death by her great grandfathers, Dennis (Bud) Huckaby and Raymond Barke, Sr. and two cousins, Justice and Kaden Barke.

Opal C. LeDuc

The funeral service for Opal Corella LeDuc, 96, Aberdeen, SD will be 11:00 am Saturday, January 7, 2006 at Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ with Pastor Rick Riedel officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton, ND, next to her husband Lawrence. Opal died Wednesday, January 4, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital, Aberdeen

Arrangements by Spitzer Funeral Home 320 6th Ave. SE, Aberdeen.

Visitation will be held one hour before the funeral service at the church.

Opal Corella Luick was born March 27, 1909, to Charles and Bertha (Gunderson) Luick at Wahpeton, ND. She graduated from High School and the State School of Science in Wahpeton. She married Lawrence P. LeDuc on Sept. 22, 1934, at Wahpeton. They lived there until 1946 when they moved to Redfield, SD and then moved to Aberdeen in 1948. Lawrence was in the printing business and retired from the Aberdeen American News.

Opal was very active in her church serving as a Deaconess, Sunday School teacher, Director of both the Senior and Junior choirs, and on various church committees. She worked at Owin Angels and was the Business Manager at the Aberdeen Medical Center for 19 years retiring in 1974. She was a past member of St. Luke’s Auxiliary volunteers, the Optic Club, the City Federation of Women’s Clubs and the Monday Musical Club. She has been a resident at Nano Nagle Village for the past 6 years.

Grateful for having shared Opal’s life are her two sons: David and his wife Jetta (Van Bockel) LeDuc of York, NE and Gerald and his wife Dorothy Ann (Gebhart) LeDuc of Huntsville, AL, six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Her parents, Charles and Bertha Luick, brother Homer Luick, sister Dorothea Zentgraf, and her loving husband Lawrence preceded her in death.

Honorary casket bearers will be all her friends at the Mother Joseph’s Manor and Nano Nagle Village.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions are made to Nano Nagle Village, 1020 North Jay St., Aberdeen, SD 57401.

RAYMOND FUEHRER

The memorial service for Raymond Fuehrer, 72, Rapid City, SD, formerly of Leola, SD, is 11:00 am Thursday, January 5, 2006 at Spitzer Funeral Home, 320 6th Ave. SE, Aberdeen, with Reverend Tom deBree officiating. Burial at Green Mound Cemetery, Leola, at a later date. Raymond died Monday, January 02 at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital, Aberdeen.

There will be an open visitation with family present one hour prior to the service.

Raymond Fuehrer was born on January 25, 1933 to Albert and Hulda (Klingman) Fuehrer at Artas, SD. When he was a young boy, his family moved to a farm north of Leola, SD. He grew up there, attended school in Leola, and worked on the family farm as a young man.

Raymond married Bernice Hauck on May 18, 1952 at Hosmer, SD. They lived on the family farm with his parents for several years before purchasing a farm of their own northeast of Leola. In 1979 they moved to Rapid City where Raymond worked for Underground Homes and later for Insulation Enterprises until retiring in 1996. Raymond and Bernice then traveled together, working at various campgrounds in national forests and state campgrounds. They were currently working at Lake Park Campground in Rapid City.

Raymond was a past member of the Reformed Church. He loved reading, especially westerns. Raymond and Bernice loved traveling together and camping. Raymond would occasionally go fishing and was known to tinker with things in the garage.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Bernice, Rapid City; son Donnie (Dianne) Fuehrer, Aberdeen; two daughters, Charlotte (Tom deBree) Coates, Denver, CO, and Donna (Lloyd) Breitag, Leola; grandchildren, Michael Fuehrer, Aberdeen, Bryson Fuehrer, Aberdeen, Matthew (Anne Barkis) Coates, Denver, CO, Nathan (Erica) Coates, Denver, Hollie (Justin) Steckelberg, Mesa, AZ, and Rachel (Bill) Mountain, Aberdeen; step-grandchildren, Nick Gill, Leola, Mitchell Hanes, Aberdeen, Leslie Hanes, Aberdeen; great grandson, Carson Steckelberg, Mesa, AZ; and two sisters, Pauline (Joseph) Fischer, Aberdeen, and Frances (Martin) Ketterling, Bismarck, ND.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Hulda.
