ADELINE VOIGHT

The funeral service for Adeline Voight, 81, of Aberdeen, will be 10:00am, Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church at Aberdeen. Pastor Mary Anne Nelson-Loefke will officiate. Burial will be at Mellette Cemetery, Melette, SD. Adeline died Sunday, Spetember 27, 2009 at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen.

Visitation will be from 1-7pm, Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main Street Aberdeen.

Adeline Schaffer was born March 28, 1928 at Napoleon, ND to Phillip and Mary Marie (Schwartz) Schaffer. As a young child she moved with her family to Leola, SD where she grew up and attended school.

On June 19, 1946 she was united in marriage to Dwaine “Eagle” Voight at Aberdeen. They began making their home on a farm near Aberdeen. In 1950, they moved to Melette where they owned and operated Eagle’s Bar for 22 years. At this time they began farming once again. Her husband died February 10, 1988. In 1989, Adeline began making her home in Aberdeen. In 2003, she moved into the Bethesda Home of Aberdeen where she remained until the time of her death.

Adeline was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, the Moose Lodge, and the Multiple Sclerosis Society. She loved playing bingo and always enjoyed bowling. For many years she hosted out of state hunters and fisherman. One of Adeline’s greatest joys was being the grandmother to her four grandchildren, which were moments that she always cherished.

Grateful for having shared Adeline’s life are her daughter Heide (Karl) Kuhlman of Watertown, SD, four grandchildren, Daniel, Nicholas, Hannah, and Eric Moffenbier, four brothers, Theophil “Bud” (Jean) Schaffer of Aberdeen, Phillip (Beverly) Schaffer of West Virginia, Ronald (Fae) Schaffer of Aberdeen and Marvin Schaffer of Portland, OR and four sisters, LaVonne Schaffer of Aberdeen, Sarah Lechner of Sioux Falls, SD, Betty (Leon) Nelson of Portland, OR and Mabel Jackson of Portland, OR.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, Sally Grohnke and two brothers, Dennis and Raymond Schaffer.

The family prefers memorials be sent to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society PO Box 4527 New York, NY 10163.

SRELDA E. VINING

Services for Srelda E. Vining, 98, Aberdeen, SD, are 1:00pm Friday, September 25, 2009 at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen; Pastor Tom Haggar officiating. Burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Srelda died Sunday, September 20 at Primrose Cottages, Aberdeen.

Visitation will be from 10am until the time of service on Friday, September 25 at the funeral home.

Srelda Elda Kienast was born on February 15, 1911 to Oscar and Mayme (Hartl) Kienast in Pembrook Township, Edmunds County near Wetonka, SD. She attended school in Pembrook Township through the 8th grade. Srelda then attended Aberdeen Central High School, graduating in 1928. She went on to Northern State College, graduating in 1932. After graduating from Northern, Srelda taught school until 1934. She then moved to Aberdeen and worked as a bookkeeper for the H.C. Behrens Lumber Co. until 1942.

Srelda married Ray A. Vining at Cresbard, SD on June 25, 1936. They then moved to their farm near Wetonka in 1942 where they farmed for 25 years. They moved to Aberdeen in February of 1967. Srelda worked for the Aberdeen School District as a secretary from October of 1967 until 1976 when she retired.

Srelda was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Methodist Altar Guild, the Methodist Women’s Circle, the Daughters of the Nile, the Eastern Star Minerva Chapter and the Yelduz Shrine Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Northeast Retired Teacher Association. Srelda was an avid golfer. She and Ray traveled often and especially enjoyed their trips to Hawaii and New York City. One of her favorite pass times was playing cards with her friends.

Grateful for having shared Srelda’s life are her daughter Linda Kempf Lucas of Aberdeen, daughter-in-law Nancy Vining of Aberdeen, four grandsons, Curtis (Carol) Kempf, Wade (Melissa) Kempf, Lee (Kris) Vining and Brad (Jill) Vining, and six great grandchildren, Larissa, Taylor, Jayden, Kylie, Wyatt, and Casey, sister, Beaulah Johnson. Srelda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ray, one son, Gary Vining, son-in-law, Sonny Lucas, five sisters, Elda Campbell, Beatrice Kienast, Muriel Angerhofer and Maxine Reis, and one infant brother.

VERNE FRERICKS

The service for Verne Frericks, 82, Aberdeen, formerly of Northville, will be 2:00pm, Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St, with Pastor Randy Battey officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, with Military Honors by Harris-Dennis Post #151. Verne died Sunday, September 20, at Aberdeen Health & Rehab.

Visitation will be from 1-7pm, Tuesday with family present from 5-7pm at the funeral home.

Verne E. Frericks was born on August 21, 1927 at Ashton, SD to Harry & Frieda (Holdorf) Frericks. This is the area where he attended school. He graduated from Northville High School with the class of 1945. He entered the US Army and was honorably discharged.

On January 14, 1950, he married Betty Jane Sanders at Aberdeen, SD. They made their home on the farm near Northville, SD. In 2008, they moved to Aberdeen.

Verne loved farming. He enjoyed playing cards, dancing, playing bingo, and bus trips.

Grateful for having shared Verne’s life are his wife of almost sixty years, Betty, Aberdeen, children, Doug Frericks, Northville, Larry (Lynette) Frericks, Northville, Sheryl (Carl) Perry, Aberdeen, Wayne Frericks, Northville, Jim Frericks (Jessie Nelson), Aberdeen, grandchildren, Michelle (Billy) Solberg, Tessa (Chris) Brindle, Kali Jeschke, Kris (Amber) Frericks, Korey Frericks, Travas Perry, Jason Perry, DextenFrericks, Kirstin Borge, great grandchildren, Mckenzie and Curtis, brother, Gary (Ruth) Frericks, sisters, Sally (Mike) Sale, Helen (Jerry) Bair, Judy (Terry) Frost.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Katherine, brothers, Darwin, Lenard, Danny, Richard, and Mike.

GEORGE BITZ

The service for George Bitz, 83, Aberdeen, will be 2:00pm, Monday, September 21, 2009 at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St, with Pastor Jais Tinglund officiating. Burial is at Sunset Memorial Gardens, with Military Honors by Sydney L. Smith Post #24. George died Wednesday, September 16, at Aberdeen Health & Rehab.

Visitation will be from 1-7pm, Sunday, with family present from 5-7pm at the funeral home.

George Bitz was born March 17, 1926 at Kulm, ND to William & Dorothy (Gainer) Bitz. He grew up on a farm and attended school. After school, George entered the US Navy.

On November 21, 1992 George married Sally Bierman at Aberdeen.

George was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. He loved being outdoors.

Grateful for having shared George’s life are his wife, Sally, Aberdeen, children, Joseph Bitz, Cassandra Bitz, Aberdeen, brothers, Henry (Donna) Bitz, WA, LeRoy Bitz, WA, William Bitz, MT, sisters, Rose Mary Rockwell, MO, and Frieda Olson, ND.

He is preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, and two sisters.

HILDA SCHNABEL

The funeral service for Hilda Schnabel, 86, of Aberdeen, will be 10:00am, Friday, September 18, 2009 at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Tanya Rist officiating. Burial following at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen. Hilda went home Wednesday, September 16, at Aberdeen Health & Rehab.

Visitation will be from 1-7pm, Thursday, with family present from 5-7pm, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen.

Hilda Kuszmaul was born January 4, 1923, at Eureka, SD to Jacob and Lydia (Schmitt) Kuszmaul. She attended rural Eureka Schools.

Hilda married Alvin Schnabel on September 21, 1941 in Eureka, SD. They moved to Aberdeen in 1945. Hilda worked for J.C. Penney’s and 3-M for many years. Hilda was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Aberdeen, where she was a Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of A.L.C.W. Hilda was a an avid antique collector. In her younger years she enjoyed golfing. Hilda loved helping others.

Grateful for having shared Hilda’s life are her husband, Alvin Schnabel, of Aberdeen, two sons, Jack (Kathy) Schnabel of Kenosha, WI and Michael (Colleen) Schnabel of Bucyrus, KS, four grandchildren, Darin (Carrie) Schnabel, Kristen (Tom) Kief, Stephanie (Mark) Pfeil and Scott Schnabel, and six great grandchildren, Jordan, Nathan and Jenna, Schnabel, Jacob and Samuel Kief, Caden Pfeil, and many nieces & nephews.

Hilda was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Al Kuszmaul and Harry Kuszmaul.

Memorials may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church, 1732 S. Main St., Aberdeen, SD, 57401.

ROBERT “BOB” LEHR

Serives for Robert “Bob” Lehr, 66, Mina, will be 10:00am, Saturday, September 19, 2009 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, with Pastor Chris Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Saron Lutheran Cemetery, Grenville, SD. Bob died Tuesday, September 15, at his home after a hard fought battle with cancer.

Visitation will be from 1-7pm, Friday with family present from 5-7pm and a prayer service at 7pm at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St. Aberdeen.

ALICE WOLNER

The service for Alice Wolner, 95, Aberdeen, will be 2pm, Wednesday, September 16, at Spitzer Miller Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Ehrmantraut officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Aberdeen. On September 11, 2009, God called Alice home to everlasting peace.

Visitation will be from 1-6pm, Tuesday with family present from 5-6pm at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St. Aberdeen.

Alice was born to Claude & Arra (Fife) Moore on February 4, 1914 in Cresbard. She lived and was educated in the Faulkton area until her graduation in Faulkton.

Alice worked in the Court House until her marriage to Herbert Wolner on July 18, 1937. They moved to the state of Nevada where their only child, Joy was born. In 1947, they moved back to Aberdeen to be close to family and start an insurance agency. Alice worked in their office until Herb’s death in 1966. After selling the Agency she went to work at Aberdak Travel until her retirement in 1986.

Alice enjoyed people and travel. She was an avid reader, wonderful cook, and a very talented seamstress. Alice was noted for her honesty, sense of humor, dignity and “the look”.

Grateful for having shared Alice’s life are her daughter, Joy, several nieces and one nephew.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother and one sister.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at ManorCare and Avera St. Lukes Hospice for the dedication and care Alice received.

VERNA GOLZ

Services for Verna Golz, 61, Watertown, are 2pm, Monday, September 14, 2009 at Zion Lutheran Church, Pastor Marcia Sylvester officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Memorial Park. Verna died Thursday, at Jenkins Living Center in Watertown.

Visitation will be from 3-6pm, Sunday at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St, Aberdeen.

Grateful for having shared Verna’s life are her brother, Dalvin (Darlene) Golz, sisters, Lavina (Howard) Nelson, Aileen (Duane) Kolb, and Linda (Steve) Black.

EDITH KUECHLE

The funeral service for Edith Kuechle, 92, of Aberdeen, will be 2:00pm, Thursday, September 10, 2009, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., with Pastor Tanya Rist officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Aberdeen. Edith died Friday, September 5, at the Golden Living Center, Redfield.

Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of the service at the funeral home

Edith Kocher was born to Joseph and Rose (Imberie) Kocher on December 8, 1916 at Onaka, SD. She married Elroy Kuechle on June 27, 1939 at Aberdeen, SD. They made their home in Aberdeen.

Grateful for having shared Edith’s life are her four sisters, Rose Klebsch, of Aberdeen, Tillie Wolf, of Aberdeen, Margaret Oaks of Palmdale, CA and Dollie Butts of Council Bluffs, IA.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Elroy, parents, Joseph and Rosina, three brothers and five sisters.

CLIFFORD W. MILBRANDT

The funeral service for Clifford W. Milbrandt, 83, of Aberdeen, will be 2:00pm, Thursday, September 10, 2009, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Pastor Deb Grismer officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen. Clifford died Sunday, September 6, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital.

Visitation will be from 1-7pm, with family present from 5-7pm, Wednesday, September 9, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen.

Clifford Milbrandt was born February 4, 1926, at Hankinson, ND to Henry & Martha (Wallman) Milbrandt. He attended school in rural Hankinson.

Clifford married Viola Krueger on April 5, 1944. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Clifford was employed at the Wipperman Funeral Home for several years before moving to Aberdeen in 1945 with his family. He was a foreman at Keeley Lumber, where he was employed for forty-two years.

Clifford enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, playing solitaire, gardening and watching t.v., especially Twins games and Western movies. He loved spending time with his family, as well as sharing french fries with Hunter.

Grateful for having shared Clifford’s life are his wife, Viola Milbrandt, Aberdeen; son, Richard (Ann) Milbrandt, Aberdeen; daughters, Irene (LeRoy) Siers, Coulee City, WA; Elaine (Jack) Johnson, Aberdeen; grandchildren, Jason Milbrandt, Watertown, SD; Jesse (Jamie) Milbrandt, Aberdeen; Brian Siers, Seattle, WA; Brad (Sunny) Siers, Arlington, WA; Stacy (Bryan) Bauer, Mina; great grandson, Hunter Bauer; and sister, Vendola Gueringer, Medford, OR.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Alfred & Elroy Milbrandt, sister, Dorothy Roeder, grandson, Steven Milbrandt, and great granddaughter, Bailey Bauer.

A man of few words, he will be greatly missed by his family, friends and remembered for his patience, smile, strength, open arms and caring heart.
