DOROTHY V. HOLLER MOCK

Services for Dorothy V. Holler Mock, 95, Aberdeen, will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at Aberdeen. Pastors Sue Seiffert and Vicki Saude-Worthington officiating. Burial, Sunset Memorial Gardens. Dorothy died Friday, December 11, at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen.

Visitation: 1-7 pm with family present from 5-7, Tuesday, December 15, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, Aberdeen.

Dorothy V. Knapp was born on July 23, 1914 at Newark, SD to Carl and Effie (Murray) Knapp. This is where she attended school and graduated from Newark High School with the Class of 1932. As a young lady, Dorothy did housework for various families in the Britton, SD area. She also worked at the Marshall County Court House for a short time.

On March 20, 1938, she married Walter Holler at Webster, SD. They made their first home and farmed near Britton until 1946, when they moved to Madison, MN and purchased their first farm. In 1950, they began making their home on a farm near Pierpont, SD. In the mid 1960’s they moved into Pierpont and continued to farm until their retirement. She moved to Aberdeen in 1985, and worked for Home Health Care.

On September 9, 1986, she married Joseph Mock at Aberdeen. They made their home in Chino, CA until 1987, when they returned to Aberdeen. After celebrating her 90th birthday she moved to Bethesda Town Square where she made many friends and remained very active. In February of 2009 she became a resident at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen.

Dorothy loved to dance and was an avid sports fan. In her free time she enjoyed playing cards. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and a past member of Women of the Moose.

Grateful for having shared Dorothy’s life are her children, Judy Crist, Wessington Springs, SD, Joy (Sig “Toot”) Flagtvedt, Aberdeen, and Doug (Janice) Holler, Mesa, Arizona, daughter in law Karleen Holler, Aberdeen, eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, first and second husband, son Wayne Holler, son in law Bill Crist and four brothers.

MILLIE ELAINE NELSON

The memorial service for Mildred “Millie” Nelson, 61, Aberdeen, is 11am, Friday, December 18, 2009, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main Street, Aberdeen, with Pastor Mary Anne Nelson-Loefke officiating. Millie died Saturday, December 12, after a courageous battle with cancer, at Golden Living Center of Groton.

Mildred “Millie Nelson was born July 5, 1948 at Aberdeen, to Floyd & Zelma (Bock) Nelson.

Millie spent her life serving while working at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen, Aberdeen Living Center and Golden Living Center in Groton.

Millie enjoyed knitting, home decorating and going to coffee with family. She loved spending time with her family, grandkids and her dog, Rico.

Grateful for having shared Millie’s life are her daughter Sandra Taylor (Brian) Twohy, brother Roger Nelson, sister, Carol Johnson, nephews, Johnny Johnson , Craig Johnson (Jody Wilson), Craig Johnson, Jr, Mark Johnson, Timmy Johnson, granddaughter, Natasha (Joshua) Hunter, grandson, Jarret Krause, and three great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and maternal grandparents, and daughter Tina Marie Taylor.

Inurnment will be at a later date at Britton Cemetery, Britton SD.

BENJAMIN “BEN” FEICKERT

The funeral service for Benjamin “Ben” Feickert, 81, of Aberdeen, SD, will be 10:30am, Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Hyle Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen, SD. Ben died Saturday, January 16, 2010, at Aberdeen Health & Rehab Aberdeen, SD.

Visitation will be from 1-7pm Monday, January 18, with family present from 5-7pm, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen.

Benjamin J. Feickert was born on March 15, 1928 to John and Christina (Wacker) Feickert at Leola, SD. He was baptized in March of 1928 at Saron Reformed Church of rural Long Lake, SD. Ben was confirmed on June 28, 1942 at the Reformed Church of Ashley, ND. He attended grade school in Wacker Township, McPherson County and graduated from Leola High School on May 24, 1946. After graduating, Ben taught school for one year at McPherson County grade school. He then worked as a maintenance supervisor for Lumber Company Restaurant and Lounge and the Holiday Inn. Ben became an electrician and worked for Don Harry Electric, retiring from Burdette Electric in 1990, but continued to work part time there.

Benjamin married Irene Schnell on January 16, 1948 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Aberdeen. On January 16, 2010, Ben and Irene had their 62nd anniversary together.

Ben was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where he was an usher and greeter for Monday night services. He was a member of the Aberdeen Men’s Bowling Association where he served on the Board of Directors. Ben loved to sing and was a member of RSVP. He was proud of his heritage and served on the Board of Director’s of Germans from Russia Heritage Society. Ben enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and attending auctions.

Grateful for having shared Ben’s life are his wife, Irene, Aberdeen, brother, Leonard Feickert, Aberdeen, sister, Alma Nies, Pittsburg, CA, and many nieces and nephews. Ben was preceded in death by his parents, John and Christina, five brothers: Daniel, Reinhold, Henry, Otto and Leo, and four sisters: Luisa Heath, Lydia Dockter, Martha Rau, and Hilda Sperle.

The family prefers memorials to the Sanford Health Foundation for the Boekeheide Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, 1305 W. 18th St., Sioux Falls, SD 57105.

HELEN B. SALWEI

The visitation for Helen B. Salwei, 87, of Aberdeen, SD, will be from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm Monday, January 18, 2010 at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen. Family will be present from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen. Helen died Thursday, January 14, 2010 at Aberdeen Health & Rehab, Aberdeen, SD.

Helen Barbara Fuhrmann was born on December 6, 1922 to Pius and Teresa (Roth) Fuhrmann on the family homestead near Roscoe, SD. Helen attended country schools in the area and helped her family on the farm.

Helen married Paul Salwei on May 6, 1947 at Aberdeen, SD. They lived in the Aberdeen area. Paul died on May 3, 1984 at Aberdeen. Helen enjoyed playing Bingo.

Grateful for having shared Helen’s life are her daughter, Teresa Knoll of Warner, SD, two sons, James “Jim” (Sharon) Salwei of Omaha, NE and Richard “Dick” Salwei of Aberdeen, SD, one brother, Matt (LaVerne) Fuhrmann of Aberdeen, two sisters, Lena Vogel of Aberdeen and Anna Banik of Spokane, WA, four half-sisters: Donna Grismer of Hosmer, SD, Luella (Albert) Hopfinger of Aberdeen, Virginia Binfet of Washington, and Marcella Fuhrmann of Aberdeen, four half-brothers: Ray (Angie) Fuhrmann of California, James Fuhrmann of Colorado, Kenny (Wanda) Fuhrmann of Arizona and Ron (Ruby) Fuhrmann of Arizona, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, her parents, Pius and Teresa, one sister, Ramona and an infant brother.

DONALD CRAMPTON

The funeral service for Donald Crampton, 87, Aberdeen, will be 2:00pm, Thursday, January 14, 2010 at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., with Pastor Eldon Reich officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, with Military Honors by American Legion Sidney L. Smith Post #24. Donald died Tuesday, January 12, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital.

Visitation will be from 10am until the time of service, Thursday at the funeral home.

Don Crampton was born November 11, 1922 in Montevideo, MN to George & Marion (Scott) Crampton. They moved to Aberdeen in 1926. He graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1940 and joined the National Guard. He served in WWII in Australia, New Guinea and the Pacific Islands. He was discharged in 1945 and attended Northern State College and South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. Donald married Beverly Estee on July 2, 1949 at Webster. He was employed by the Missouri Dept. of Transportation and then started with the South Dakota Dept. of Transportation in 1948 where he worked as an engineer until his retirement in 1984. After retirement he spent 11 years as a consulting engineer for Helms Engineering and Clark Engineering.

Donald was a member of the VFW. He was a ham radio operator and member of the Aberdeen Amateur Radio Club and served with civil weather alerts at the airport. He was in a bowling league on Wednesday nights at the Village Bowl and was in a senior golf league.

He is survived by his wife Beverly; his sister Betty Thompson of Boise, ID; his two daughters Lynn Chaney (Dew) of Ft. Scott, KS and Brenda Piatz (Greg) of Eagan, MN; grandson Daniel Piatz of Eagan, MN, and his niece Dori (Wayne) Anderson.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, James and William Crampton.

KENTON L. EISENBEISZ

Funeral services for Kenton L. Eisenbeisz, 65, Aberdeen, will be 10 am, Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Pastor Mary Anne Nelson-Loefke officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Memorial Park, Aberdeen. Kenton died Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Sioux Falls, SD.

Visitation will be from 1-7 pm, Monday at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St. Aberdeen with a prayer service at 7:00 pm.

Kenton L. Eisenbeisz, son of Kenneth John and Dora L. (Diedtrich) Eisenbeisz was born on April 8, 1944 at Bowdle, SD. This is where he grew up and attended school graduating from Bowdle High School with the class of 1962. He attended Augustana College and graduated from NSU.

Ken spent the majority of his working years as an agriculture manufacturing representative. He thoroughly enjoyed the last few years of employment with EZEE-ON Manufacturing Company.

He was united in marriage to Diane Markuson on June 12, 1965. To this marriage a son, Troy was born. He married Sandy Sasse in 1969. Together the couple had a son, Trent. On June 9, 1972 he married Carol Craig. Together they had two sons, Todd and Ryan.

Kenton was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing in his free time with family and friends. He was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Aberdeen where he loved ushering and greeting. He especially enjoyed spending time with family, friends and neighbors.

Grateful for having shared Kenton’s life are his wife Carol, four sons, Troy (Angela) Eisenbeisz of Aberdeen, Trent Eisenbeisz of Cheney, Washington, Todd (Shala) Eisenbeisz and Ryan (Amy) Eisenbeisz of Sioux Falls, five grandsons, Hunter, Brady, Braydon, Connor and Tanner Eisenbeisz, one granddaughter Madelyn Eisenbeisz, his mother Dora and two brothers, Larry (Bonna) Eisenbeisz of Woodbury, MN and Curtis (Susan Landon-Arnold) Eisenbeisz of Aberdeen.

His grandparents, father and first wife Diane preceded him in death.

BERDINA (DENIE) A. KALT

The funeral service for Berdina A. Kalt will be 10:00am, Monday, January 11, 2010, at St. John Lutheran Church, Warner, with Pastor Joanne Nagele officiating. Burial will be at Warner Township Cemetery. Berdina died Thursday, January 7, at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen.

Visitation will be from 2-6pm, Sunday, with a prayer service at 6pm at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St. Aberdeen.

Berdina Rozell was born to Claude & Sarah (Holland) Rozell on February 13, 1935 at Aberdeen, SD. This is the area where she grew up and attended school, graduating from high school in 1953.

On June 2, 1954, Berdina married Don Kalt at St. John’s Lutheran Church rural Aberdeen. They moved to South Carolina in 1954 while Don was in the Air Force, and back to the Mansfield area in 1957. Berdina worked at St. Luke’s Hospital and the Sale Barn and Bethesda Home. Berdina started work at Bethesda Home as an Activity Director in 1975 and retired in 1999. She returned to Bethesda as a resident in 2009 and was warmly welcomed back by many friends.

Berdina was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Warner. She was involved in the church circle and several groups at church. Berdina was a member of the Birthday Club. She enjoyed sewing, shopping and traveling. Berdina loved to cook spaghetti for her grandkids. She loved flowers and collecting antiques.

Grateful for having shared Berdina’s life are her husband, Don, Aberdeen, children, Kevin (Sandi) Kalt, Warren, MN, Jill Kalt (Jim Kohnen), Aberdeen, Pamela (Kelly) Miller, Aberdeen, Darla (Troy) Erickson, Annandale, MN, grandchildren, Jason (Melanie) Kalt, Jamie (Sam) Lindquist, Kassie Kalt, Kayla (Michael) Kroll, Dustin Kalt, Ashley Kalt, Gabrielle Miller, Jillian Miller, Bailey Miller, Cole Miller, Thorin Erickson, Alyssa Erickson, Brennen Erickson, Brianna Erickson, great grandchildren, Cristopher, Mason, Tanner, Taylor, Colton, Harley, Chase, Kaden, Riley, Tessa, sister, Aly (Harlow) Holler, Roger (Lana) Rozell, sister-in-law, Darlyne Rozell, five nieces, and fourteen nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Peggy Kalt, brother, Warren Rozell, son-in-law, Harvey Pekelder.

Nora Regina Ellwein

Graveside service for Nora Regina Ellwein, 98, of Aberdeen will be at Riverside Cemetery at Aberdeen at a later date. Pastor Hyle Anderson will officiate. Nora died Monday, January 4, 2010 at her home.

Nora is survived by her niece Sheri (Norman) Scott of Aberdeen and two great nephews Stuart and Gregory Scott.

Her parents, brothers Harold and Robert Ellwein, sister Rose Wudel and two infant brothers preceded her in death.

ADELINE “LENA” MOHR

Funeral service for Adeline “Lena” Mohr, 84, of Aberdeen and formerly of Hosmer, SD will be 10:30am, Friday, January 8, 2010, at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Hosmer. Pastor Patrick Hahn officiating. Burial in Bethany Cemetery at Hosmer. Adeline died Monday, January 4, 2010 at the Hosmer Senior Citizens Home.

Visitation will be from 6-7pm, Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St. Aberdeen and one hour prior to the service at the church

Adeline Walth was born to George & Margaret (Guthmiller) Walth on September 4, 1925 on the family farm in McPherson County, SD. She grew up on the family farm and attended Happy Hilltop Country School.

On February 4, 1945, Adeline married Milbert Mohr at Jehovah Lutheran Church near Hosmer. They made their home on the Mohr family farm. For many years Adeline worked as a cook at the Hosmer Senior Citizens Home.

Adeline loved flowers, gardening and cats. She enjoyed dancing. After retiring, Adeline enjoyed fishing with Milbert. She was an excellent cook and also enjoyed needle work.

Grateful for having shared Adeline’s life are her three sons, LeRoy Mohr of Lawton, IA, George (Mary Jo) Mohr of Hosmer and Robert (Karen) Mohr of Mitchell, SD, three daughters, Kathleen (Teddy) Opp of Eureka, SD, Janet Shepperd (Tom) and Iva Dell Mohr both of Aberdeen, grandchildren Kevin Mohr, Kelly (Bryce) Morgan, Karla (David) Jackson, Nicole Kimmes, Justin Mohr and Amanda Colby, Megan (Kelly) Smith, Owen Mohr, Alex Mohr, Jessica (Adam) Mohr, Max Mohr, and Joshua (Portia) Shepperd, great grandchildren Cody and Braydon Morgan, Tamara Mohr and Peyton Shepperd, step grandchildren Wade (Kellie) Opp and Keith Opp, step great grandchild Morgan Opp, sister, Leona (Edwin) Miller, brothers, Paul (Patty) Walth, and Delbert (Barbara) Walth.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Calvin, Otto, and Robert Walth, sister, Miriam Lauer, son, Daniel Derek Mohr, and grandson, Anthony Mohr.

Honorary Casket Bearers will be Adeline’s grandchildren, great grandchildren, step grandchildren and step great grandchild.

Casket Bearers will be James Mohr, Jeffrey Mohr, Delbert Gienger, Wylie Mohr, Bruce Flittie and Merle Mohr.

Howard C. Levi

Services for Howard Levi, 84, Aberdeen, will be 11:00am, Tuesday January 5, 2010 at Plymouth Congregational Church. Burial at Riverside Cemetery with military honors by Sidney L. Smith American Legion Post 24. Howard died January 1st, 2010 at Avera St. Lukes Hospital, Aberdeen.

Howard C. Levi was born June 7, 1925 in Greenway, SD, to Emanuel and Christine (Lutz) Levi. Howard grew up in Zeeland, ND and graduated from Zeeland High in 1943. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy that fall. He served during World War II as the tail gunner, navigator and radioman in a two man dive-bomber, and was honorably discharged in May 1946. He attended college at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks and graduated in 1950. He moved to Minneapolis later that year to begin his career in accounting. On February 21, 1953, he married Evangeline (Van) Laman in Stanchfield, Minnesota.

In 1957, Howard and Van moved to Aberdeen where he joined the CPA firm of Harlan Peterson and Company. The firm name was changed to Levi, Englehart, and Wolfe when he became the senior partner in 1982. In addition to his accounting practice he was active in many ways in the community including leadership roles as President of the Aberdeen Jaycees, President of the Aberdeen YMCA, President of the Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce, Director of the Greater South Dakota Chamber of Commerce, President of South Dakota CPA Society, council member of the American Institute of CPA's, member of the Continuing Education Committee for the State Board of Accountancy, member of the South Dakota Board of Regents, Director of Aberdeen Federal Savings & Loan Association, and Trustee of Plymouth Congregational Church. He was also honored as “Frosty the Snowman” in the 1987 Snow Queen Festival.

In addition to his professional life Howard led an active personal life. Above all, his family was very important to him. He and Van raised four boys and kept very close ties with their extended families. Howard was an avid hunter and fisherman and also enjoyed golf, stained glass, and travel, including motor homing around the US and wintering in Arizona.

He is survived by four sons and their wives: Bruce (Debbie) Dallas, Keith (Pamela) Fairfield, Iowa, Craig (Susan) Colorado Springs, Dean (Diane) Denver; ten grandchildren: Nathan, Matthew (Kristen), Natalee, Beth, Erin and Brent Levi, Steve and Samantha Lawson, Heather (Ben) Podoll, Ann (Mike) Farmer; five great grandchildren: Katherine, Claire, and Samantha Podoll, Lana and Lucy Levi; brothers and sisters Violet (Norbert) Bauer, Caroline (Ken) Biel, Arlo (Connie), Don (Donna), and Jeanette; and many nephews and nieces.

He will be remembered as a kind, gentle, and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.
