DONALD PASCH

Graveside service for Donald E. Pasch, 89 of Sacramento, CA and formerly of Aberdeen will be 1:00pm, Friday, March 4, 2011 at Riverside Memorial Park at Aberdeen. Donald died on February 23, 2011 in California.

Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main Street, Aberdeen is in charge of arrangements.

PAT J. SANDERS

The funeral service for Pat J. Sanders, 82, Aberdeen, will be 2pm Thursday March 3, 2011 at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, with Pastor Jeff Whillock officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park with military honors by Legion Post #24. Pat died Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at his home.

Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen.

Pat J. Sanders was born March 3, 1928 to Michael and Hattie (Rapp) Sanders at Aberdeen SD. He grew up and attended Aberdeen Central Highschool where he played varsity basketball, ran track and sang ACapella. After graduating highschool, Pat enlisted in the United States Army serving during World War II from 1946 to 1948, and earning the WWII Victory Medal and Army Of Occupation Medal-Japan. Pat then continued his education at Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen, earning his BS in education. He later went on to earn his Masters in Education in 1980.

On December 28, 1953, Pat was united in marriage to Priscilla Borgesen. Two children were added to this union. The family moved to Long Beach California where Pat taught ninth grade math, social studies, economics and geography for thirty-three years. He was loved and respected by all his students and fellow faculty members. Pat enjoyed coaching little league, playing golf, watching sports and had a great love for dogs. He will always be remembered for his big smile, sense of humor and sharp wit.

Grateful for having shared Pat’s life are daughter Susan (Michael Watts) of Corona CA, son Patrick V. Sanders of Sioux Falls SD, two step-grandchildren Chase and Chad Watts, brother-in-law Paul (Patsy)Borgesen, nephews Paul Borgeson, Mark Borgeson, Pete Borgesen, Phil Borgesen, Pat S. Sanders, Kenny and Keith Peckham, and nieces Mary Beth Suiter, Julie Wentworth and Stacy Nicholson.

He was preceded in death by his wife Priscilla, parents, brother Michael J. Sanders, sisters Geraldine Peckham, Beverly Sanders, brother-in-law Jude Borgesen, nephew Michael P. Sanders, niece Jane Johnston and his best friend Muggins.

The family prefers memorials to the Humane Society in lieu of flowers.

HAZEL L. GEDDES

The service for Hazel L. Geddes, 96, Aberdeen, will be 2:30pm, Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St. with Pastor Tom Haggar officiating, Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Aberdeen. Hazel died Sunday, February 20, at Aberdeen Health and Rehab.

Visitation will be two hours prior to the service.

Hazel Moline was born August 26, 1914 to Victor & Betty (Covey) Moline at Frederick, SD. This is the area where she grew up and attended school, graduating with the Class of 1933 from Frederick High School.

In 1934 Hazel married Paul Magoon in Aberdeen. They made their home in Frederick, then moved to Aberdeen.

On February 14, 1949, Hazel married Kenneth Geddes in Ellendale, ND. They made their home in Benton Harbor, MI. Then moved to South Haven, MI. Hazel worked as a cook for various restaurants. In 1968, they moved to Frederick, where she was a cook for Hilltop Café. In 1974, they moved to Aberdeen and she became a cook & waitress at Dan’s Café, retiring in 1979. They continued to make Aberdeen their home.

Hazel was a past member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Frederick.

Grateful for having shared Hazel’s life are her son, Richard Geddes, Aberdeen, brother, Floyd (Beulah) Moline, Roanoke Rapids, NC, sister, Lola Gelling, Frederick, SD, six grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, son, Robert Magoon, brother, Harold Moline, and sister, Lucille Olson.

CORA MARIE EHRESMANN

The service for Cora Marie Ehresmann, 58, Aberdeen, will be 2:00pm, Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St, with Pastor Zack Opheim officiating. Cora died Saturday, February 19, at her home.

Visitation will be from 11am until the time of service at the funeral home on Thursday.

Cora Marie Ehresmann (Mills) was born on September 10th, 1952 to Leonard (Bud) & Maxine Mills in Armour, South Dakota. At age 10 she was diagnosed with Diabetes. This gave her a life time of struggles but in spite of her illness she accomplished many great things.

Cora attended a small country school through the 4th grade, then Armour Elementary & High School. She graduated in 1971 and was engaged to Myles Ehresmann on the night of her graduation.

Myles and Cora were married in Armour, South Dakota at the United Church of Christ on October 20th, 1971. They lived in California, Nebraska, and Minnesota, all for short periods of time. They moved to Aberdeen, South Dakota in December of 1975 where they lived until the time of her death.

Between 1973 and 1979 Myles and Cora tried to have children and lost 3 infants. In 1980, they adopted their 1st daughter, Jennifer. In 1982 they were blessed with a 2nd child, a son, Jason. In 1983, Cora was able to give birth to a happy, healthy daughter, Jessica.

Cora started her employment in 1984 at the Natural Abundance Food Store. She enjoyed working at the store, mostly meeting and greeting people and working with others. She worked there as the General Manager until her passing.

Cora was a member of the Church of Christ in Aberdeen and was a very faithful Christian. She loved to please others and was always doing something to help or uplift those around her.

She was survived by her husband, Myles; a daughter, Jennifer; a son Jason; her youngest daughter Jessica; all of Aberdeen. She is also survived by her father, Leonard (Bud) Mills; her brothers Marvin (Pat) Mills, and Dennis Mills; her sisters Margie Hartman and Glenda Pfeiffer; and her grandchildren Alex Bowman (11), Weston Stippich (7), and Ryder Ehresmann (1).

She was preceded in death by her mother, Maxine Mills; her brother, Wayne Mills; and 3 infants.

Honorary casket bearers include all of her co-workers from Natural Abundance.

MARCELLA “MARCEY” TARRELL

Funeral service for Marcella “Marcey” Tarrell, 71, Aberdeen will be 2:00pm, Friday, February 25, 2011 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Aberdeen. Pastor Chris Anderson will officiate. Marcey passed away on February 19, 2011 at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD.

Visitation will be from 1:00pm-7:00pm on Thursday, February 24, 2011 with family present from 5:00-7:00pm and a prayer service at 7:00pm at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main Street, Aberdeen.

Marcella Marie Breitag was born February 13, 1940 to Reuben and Hilda (Lechner) Breitag at Leola, SD. She graduated from Leola High School in 1958. After graduation, she lived in San Francisco, CA for two years. On a trip home, she met Don Radke and they were married June 10, 1961 at Stratford, SD. They had two sons Mike and Jeff. Marcey and Don were divorced in 1977. Don passed away in 2003.

Marcey married Cal Jung on June 21, 1982. Cal passed away on July 27, 1987.

Marcey married Ron Tarrell on June 1, 1990 at Aberdeen. Marcey welcomed Ron's children Deb, Dori, David, Tammy, and Steve into her family and into her heart. Marcey loved spending time with family and friends and she and Ron enjoyed traveling together, especially to visit children, grand-children, and great-grandchildren.

Marcey was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She was previously a real estate agent in Aberdeen.

Marcey is survived by her husband Ron Tarrell of Aberdeen, sons Mike (Kris) Radke of Elk River, MN and Jeff (Claire) Radke of Champlin, MN, step-daughters Deb (Chris) Van Briesen of Sioux Falls, Dori (Mark) Sewell of Dahlgren, VA, and Tammy (Mike) Mitzel of Aberdeen, step-sons David (Kathy) Tarrell of Sioux Falls and Steve (Willoughby) Tarrell of Dahlgren, VA, brother Harold (Kris) Breitag of Sioux Falls, sister-in-law Mae Breitag of Aberdeen, brother-in-law Don (Elsie) Tarrell of Lakeland, FL, 21 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.

Preceding Marcey in death were her parents, one sister Luella Sears and brother-in-law Ralph Sears and one brother Ron Breitag

HAROLD KOLB

The funeral service for Harold Kolb, 80, Aberdeen, will be 1:00pm, Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, with Pastor Hyle Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Harold died Friday, February 18, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital.

Visitation is 1-7pm, Monday, with family present from 5-7pm at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St. Aberdeen.

Harold Walter Kolb was born on May 29, 1930 at Leola, SD to Gottlieb & Carolina (Herrmann) Kolb. This is the area where he attended Country School. He worked on the family farm. On April 22, 1951 he married Elda Scheid at Aberdeen, SD. They made their home in Aberdeen where he worked for Nelson Auto Electric and farmed. In 1979 they moved to the farm, sixteen miles North of Aberdeen and in 2008 he retired and moved to Aberdeen.

Harold was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Aberdeen. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren & great grandchildren.

Grateful for having shared Harold’s life are his wife, Elda Kolb, Aberdeen, children, Deborah (Craig) Anglin, Prior Lake, MN, Stan (Linda) Kolb, Aberdeen, Mark (Pam) Kolb, Aberdeen, Bryant (Cheryl) Kolb, Aberdeen, Renee (Bryon) Cunningham, Oakes, ND, grandchildren, Tiffani (Eric) Nielson, Jennifer (Brian) Arneson, Cason Kolb, Michael Kolb, Alex Kolb, Christopher Kolb, Justin Cunningham, Megan Cunningham, Jordan Cunningham, great grandchildren, Anna, Emily, Tyler, Ethan, Carissa, brothers, Albert (Esther) Kolb, Aberdeen, Herbert Kolb, Westport, Gilbert Kolb, Forbes, ND, sisters, Adeline (Emil) Kolb, Leola, SD, Hilda Melland, Post Falls, ID, Alvina (Otto) Sperle, Aberdeen, Ella Tschappat, Coon Rapids, MN, and Violet Fauth, Aberdeen.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Reinhold, Louie, Gottlieb Jr, and sister, Helen Kvasnicka.

ARTHUR C. KEELEY

Funeral service for Arthur C. Keeley, 93, Aberdeen will be 10:30am, Monday, February 21, 2011 at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main Street, Aberdeen. Father Kevin Zilverberg, Celebrant. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park. Arthur died Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at ManorCare Health Services at Aberdeen.

Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00pm Sunday, February 20, 2011 with a Wake Service at 4:00pm at the funeral home.

Arthur C. Keeley, son of Tom and Ann (Doyle) Keeley, was born September 25, 1917 at Chicago, Illinois. This is the area where he was raised and attended school. Arthur entered the United States Army on June 11, 1941 receiving his honorable discharge on October 29, 1945.

Arthur was united in marriage to Kathryn Hafsos on February 6, 1943 in Madison, WI. The couple began making their home in Aberdeen where he worked as a butcher before joining the Hafsos family business at Hafsos Lumber in Aberdeen. In 1948 Arthur started Keeley Lumber. He moved the company to its present location in 1953 where he continued to operate his business until his retirement at age 90.

In his free time Arthur enjoyed raising dogs. He was also a member of the Rieck-Morgan American Legion Post of Warner, SD.

Grateful for having shared Arthur's life are his wife Kathryn Keeley of Aberdeen, two sons James Keeley of Aberdeen and Gerald (Edna) Keeley of Mina, SD; four grandchildren, Keeley (Jennifer) Trygstad of Seattle, Washington; Charlie (MacKenzie Walsh) Keeley of Cheyenne, WY; Erin (Jordan Gab) Keeley of Aberdeen and Troy (Deb Gardner) Keeley of Aberdeen, three step grandchildren Brad Borge of Rapid City, SD; Brandon (Kim) Borge of Pierre, SD; and Becky (Mike) Dutenhoffer of Aberdeen and three great grandchildren, Malcolm Trygstad, Emerson Keeley and Jackson Keeley.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents Tom and Ann Keeley and three brothers, Robert, Warren and Ray Keeley.

BEVERLY VAN SCOY

A private family memorial service for Beverly (Letherer) Van Scoy, 94, Aberdeen, will be held at a later date. Beverly died Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at her home in Aberdeen.

Beverly is survived by her children Shirley Fisher, Arlington TX, Gerald (Loyis) VanScoy, Portland OR, and Thomas (Linda) VanScoy, Aberdeen, sister Elanor Osterman, Rapid City, and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harold.

ALICE FISCHER HAUPT

The memorial service for Alice Fischer Haupt, 84, Faulkton, SD, formerly of Aberdeen, will be 2:30pm, Monday, February 7, 2011 at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main Street, Aberdeen. Pastor Tammy Craker will officiate. Burial will be at Green Mound Cemetery in Leola, SD on a later date. Alice died Friday, February 4, 2011 at Faulkton Healthcare Center, Faulkton, SD.

Alice Irene Leicht was born on June 8, 1926 at Long Lake, SD to Fred and Maggie (Rath) Leicht. This is the area where she grew up and attended school. In 1944, Alice graduated from Leola High School. She then attended Northern Normal where she received her Teaching Certificate. On June 14, 1945 Alice married Henry W. Fischer at Long Lake, SD. She taught in the Long Lake area for 17 years. Henry died on August 11, 1963. In 1970, Alice moved to Aberdeen where she ran a day care. On October 17, 1991, she married Otto Haupt at Aberdeen where they made their home. Otto died on June 5, 2002.

Alice was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Faulkton.

Grateful for having shared Alice’s life are her two sons, Glenn (Sheilah) Fischer of Faulkton, SD and Perry Fischer of Watertown, SD, sister Violet Fischer of Las Vegas, NV, grandchildren, Trintje (Randy) Bauer, Vikki (Todd) Drobny, Celeste Rothleitner, Tonia (Pat) Patten, Darren (Jennifer) Krein, Brock Fischer, Brian (Mandy) Rubenstein, Brooke (Levi) Berg, Alexis (Colin) DeJong and Cole Fischer. She has nineteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her many friends. She will be greatly missed by her special granddaughter Trintje and special daughter-in-law Sheilah.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Maggie, husbands, Henry Fischer and Otto Haupt, daughters, Evelyn Gould and Gail Krein, and two sisters, Leona Hoffman and Olive Rath.

JODEAN ANN TRUDY

A celebration of life for Jodean Ann Trudy, 77, Aberdeen will be 10:30am, Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main Street, Aberdeen. Pastor Deb Grismer will officiate. Jodean died Thursday, February 3, 2011 at Aberdeen Health and Rehab.

Jodean Ann Meister, daughter of Erwin and Georgia (Gibbs) Meister was born on March 6, 1933 in Aberdeen. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Groton. Jodean graduated from Groton High School. Following high school she worked in Sioux Falls for a short time.

Jodean was united in marriage to Maynard Trudy on November 2, 1956. Together they made their home on a farm near Brentford, SD where they raised their four children. In 1983 Jodean began working in the deli at Kessler’s in Aberdeen and continued to work there for 27 years.

Jodean will always be remembered for having fresh bread, cookies and cake for anyone who visited her home. She loved to travel with her family and friends and she especially enjoyed bus trips to Branson, MO. Jodean was an avid bingo player, playing weekly until ill health prevented her from doing so.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband of 54 years Maynard Trudy of Aberdeen, children Lorna (John) Stonebarger of Watertown, SD; Marsha Frericks of Rapid City, SD; Luie (Desiree) Trudy of Ridgecrest, CA and Mark Trudy of Aberdeen, grandchildren Andrea (Jon) Grann, Jared Fredricks and special friend Terri, Marisa (David) Meidinger, Adam Stonebarger and Kristina Trudy, four step grandchildren, five great grandchildren, seven step great grandchildren and siblings Burnice Ageton, Mervyn Meister, Ila Jesme, Charles Meister, Dennis Meister, Maxine Haywood, Robert Meister and Terry Meister

Jodean was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home of Aberdeen is in charge of arrangements.
