BERNICE THEELER

Funeral services for Bernice Theeler, 92, of Aberdeen will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, February 10, 2012 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Aberdeen. The Pastor Deb Grismer will officiate. Burial will be at Riverside Memorial Park at 3:30 pm Friday. Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be at the church from 12:00 noon to 1:15 p.m., prior to the funeral. Respects may be made on the online guestbook at www.spitzerfuneralhome.com

Bernice passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Aberdeen Health and Rehab.

Bernice Harriet Hedblom was born March, 15, 1919, to Peter and Hannah (Nesheim) Hedblom at Aberdeen, SD, where she was raised and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School.

Bernice married Jack Theeler on June 2, 1940 at Tacoma Park, SD. Jack passed away on September 15, 1998.

She and her husband, Jack, lived in Draper, White River, Winner, McLaughlin and Sisseton before moving to Aberdeen in 1964.

She was Executive Secretary, for the professional Insurance Agents of South Dakota, from 1961-1984.

Bernice loved to play bridge, dance and golf. She also loved to cook and bake and especially enjoyed making Norwegian lefse and other Scandinavian pastries. As the youngest of five children, she cherished the memories of her older brothers and sisters. She was always happy when visiting and sharing stories with family and friends.

She was active in the Order of Eastern Star and was president of the Aberdeen Country Club. She enjoyed working in the libraries of Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton and Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Aberdeen.

Bernice is survived by her children, Ginger Adams, Mitchell; Jack (Nancy) Theeler, Mitchell; Jim Theeler, Salem, Oregon and Barb (Mike) Hopper, Aberdeen; 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 5 nieces and nephews.

Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

FLORENCE E. FULLER

Funeral service for Florence E. Fuller, 79, Mina, will be 10:30 am, Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Aberdeen. Pastor D. Thomas Rawerts will officiate. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Florence died on Saturday, February 04, 2012 at Aberdeen Health and Rehab.

Visitation will be from 1:00-7:00 pm, with family present from 5:00-7:00 pm, Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main Street, Aberdeen.

Florence E. Bauer, daughter of Emil and Ella (Walz) Bauer was born on March 31, 1932 on the family farm near Zeeland, ND. She attended school through the 8th grade in Zeeland prior to attending Northwestern Lutheran Academy in Mobridge, SD where she graduated from high school. Florence attended Dr. Martin Luther College for one year before enrolling at St. Luke’s School of Nursing where she completed her nurses training.

Florence was united in marriage to Delmar Fuller on September 23, 1955 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Aberdeen. For 37 years she worked as a registered nurse in pediatrics at St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen until her retirement. She was a long-standing member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Florence was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother with a resolute faith that guided her entire life. Family was important to her and she cherished every moment spent with them. Florence always made time for her family and her love and support was patient, steadfast and unwavering.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband Delmar, Mina; five children, Lynne Kendall, Underwood, IA; Karen Fuller, Aberdeen; Steven (Kiyoko) Fuller, Woodway, WA; Tamara (Bryan) Pietrzak, Omaha, NE; and Michael (Victoria) Fuller, Hudson, WI; nine grandchildren, Brandi Fuller, Brent Kendall, Alexx Kendall, Elizabeth Fuller, Joshua Fuller, Jonathan Fuller, Jacob Pietrzak, Christian Fuller and Emily Pietrzak; two great grandchildren, Isaiah Fuller and Chloe Holt.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

SOPHIA MICHELLE ERICKSON

Services for Sophia Michelle Erickson, infant daughter of Ross and Michelle Erickson will be 7:30 pm, Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St. with Pastor Jeff Whillock officiating. Sophia died on February 1 at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital.

Sophia will be greatly missed by her parents, Ross and Michelle Erickson, brother, William Erickson, grandparents, Gary (Pam) Erickson, Robyn Michlitsch (Warren Lahammer), Michael Michlitsch, great grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins.

STEVEN MICHAEL AMAN

Steven M. Aman, formerly of Aberdeen, died peacefully in his home in Brooklyn Park, MN, surrounded by love on Tuesday, January 31, 2012. He was born in Brunswick, ME, May 2, 1967, and spent most of his childhood in Burnsville, MN. Steven graduated from Burnsville Senior High School in 1985 and shortly after moved to Mankato, MN, to attend and graduate from Minnesota State University - Mankato.

On July 3, 2011, Christina Rice and Steven Aman were joyfully wed at their home in Brooklyn Park. Steven has enjoyed his life with his new family. He was a loving and caring father and husband. Before moving to Minnesota, Steven helped create, manage and offer ideas and support to South Dakota artists as the art director for the Ward Plaza Artists Showcase and Gallery on Main St. in Aberdeen. Steven created an amazing experience in the gallery for local artists, art enthusiasts looking for a special piece of South Dakota and many who just stopped by to talk to him and learn about the art world. Steven also was CEO of a business called Digital Palette Design and his work helped others envision big changes to large buildings or whole sections of a community. One of Steven’s projects was the Redfield Main Street revitalization project but there were also several locations in downtown Aberdeen that Steven helped others envision including the new location of the police department, the Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce, the Northern Beef Packers and the Wells Fargo Auto buildings. Before moving to South Dakota, Steven lived in Texas for 10 years, operated a Native American Tea sales and distribution site from his home and worked for Aman Collection Service, A.C.S., his father Tom Aman’s business.

While in college, Steven was injured in an accident that left him paralyzed but this never stopped him from enjoying life. Steven traveled across the United States, loved to ride cruise ships, drove sporty cars, enjoyed snowmobiling, skiing and even parasailing. His faithful little Sheltie dog, Nicholas, was always by his side. Steven was a graduate of the Minnesota Governor’s Council on Disability and he traveled to many University campuses as a motivational speaker so he could help enlighten other students about living with disability. He touched thousands of people over the years with his real-life and inspirational stories. Steven was proud of his work as Student Services Coordinator with the Minnesota State University Student Association. He helped to establish many progressive changes on campuses one of which was the development of campus recycling programs in the state of Minnesota.

Grateful for having shared Steven’s life are his eternal love Christina L. Aman and her sons Lucas and Daren, loving and devoted parents Danielle and Tom Aman of Aberdeen, dear brother Jonathan D. Tkach and sons Garrett and Brady of Eagan, MN, dear brother David A. Aman, partner Brent Burge and son Nathaniel Burge of Ham Lake, MN, step-siblings John B. Aman, wife Jyl Aman of Aberdeen, David T. Aman of Oshkosh, WI, Matt T. Aman of Phoenix, AZ, Carol Sommers, husband Mike Sommers and children Austin and Carley, loving grandparents, Dan and Helen Kidder of Missoula, MT and his birth father.

Steven wondered about the world and had questions about practically everything. He was one-of-a-kind and a truly amazing person who touched the lives and hearts of many. His family and close friends were with him over the last few years, months and days, and Steven always appreciated their enduring love and support.

We will miss Steven and his strong spirit, loving smile, the way in which he tried to make improvements to everything and everyone he came in contact with, his sense of humor, remarkable thoughts and ideas. He made the world a brighter and better place for all of us. We love and miss him dearly.

Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 3, 3-7 p.m. at Spitzer Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen. Steven’s funeral service will be Saturday, Feb. 4, 1 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church 1732 S. Main St., Aberdeen. Pastor Marcia Sylvester will officiate. Interment following at Riverside Memorial Cemetery, Aberdeen.

FRANCES MOSER HOHENECKER

Funeral service for Frances Hohenecker, 87, Aberdeen will be 10:30 am, Saturday, February 4, 2012 at First Baptist Church, Aberdeen. Dr. Harold E. Salem will officiate. Burial is in Fairview Cemetery in Herreid, SD at 3:00 pm, Saturday. Frances died on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen.

Visitation will be from 1:00-7:00 pm, with family present from 5:00-7:00 pm, Friday, February 3 at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main Street, Aberdeen.

Frances Pauline Ackerman was born on October 18, 1924 at Hague, ND to George and Elizabeth (Brockel) Ackerman. This is the area where she grew up and attended school. On January 26, 1943 she married Simon Moser, Jr. at Eureka, SD. They made their home on a farm near Pollock, SD. Simon died on September 7, 1967 and she continued to live on the farm and later moved to Aberdeen. On August 12, 1978 she married Bill Hohenecker at Aberdeen. Frances worked for Americana Nursing Home, Bethesda Home of Aberdeen and was a caretaker for people in their homes. She also worked for North West Fabric for several years. Bill died on March 8, 1993. She moved to the Bethesda Home in 2010.

Frances was a member of First Baptist Church, Aberdeen. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, hunting and fishing. She really loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Grateful for having shared Frances’ life are her children, Rodney (Sandy) Moser, Mobridge, Mavis (Jack) Heyd, Aberdeen, Don (Debra) Moser, Aberdeen, Dave (Jean) Moser, Aberdeen, grandchildren, Chad (Jazz) Moser, Tate (Cindy) Moser, Debby (Dan) Johnson, Michelle (Mark) Gierach, Jackie ( Michael) Martin, Kim Moser, Deon (Milissa) Moser, Michael Marsh and Justin Moser, Azure (Micheal) Smith and Ivori Moser, great grandchildren, Racheal, Joshua, Kaylee, Kasandra, Kamyren, Kaden, Grace, Rhett, Ethan, Jonathan, Anthony, Jacob and Anna.

She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Elizabeth Ackerman, husbands, Simon Moser and Bill Hohenecker, son, LeRoy Moser, sisters, Eva Iszler and Lizzy Ackerman, brothers, Johnny (Martha) Ackerman, Hank (Alma) Ackerman, Reuben (Viola) Ackerman and Bob (Mamie) Ackerman.

WALLVIN “BOB” ACKERMAN

Graveside service for Wallvin “Bob” Ackerman, 81, Brooklyn, MD will be 3:15 pm, Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Fairview Cemetery, Herreid, SD. Bob died Saturday, June 11, 2011 in Brooklyn, MD.

Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St. is in charge of arrangements.

Wallvin T. Ackerman was born on April 4, 1930 at Hague, ND to George and Elizabeth (Brockel) Ackerman. This is the area where he grew up and attended school. He entered the US Army on January 10, 1952 and was honorably discharged on September 20, 1953. He moved to Herreid, SD and later moved to Baltimore, MD where he worked for Sea Food Market.

Bob enjoyed hunting, horse racing and playing cards. He loved tinkering with old cars.

Grateful for having shared Bob’s life are his best friend, Mamie Paterson and her sons, John and Tom Paterson.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Elizabeth Ackerman, sisters, Frances Hohenecker, Eva Iszler and Lizzy Ackerman, brothers, Johnny (Martha) Ackerman, Hank (Alma) Ackerman and Reuben (Viola) Ackerman.

TILLIE L. HOFF

Tillie Hoff , 89, Aberdeen, died Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Aberdeen Health and Rehab.

Arrangements are pending with Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, Aberdeen and services will be held at a later date.

WILMA HILGEMANN

Funeral service for Wilma Hilgemann, 89, North Platte, NE and formerly of Leola and Spearfish, SD is 10:30 am, Thursday, February 2, 2012 at St James Lutheran Church, Leola with Janna Bader officiating. Burial at Green Mound Cemetery, Leola. Wilma died January 26, 2012 at Linden Court in North Platte.

Visitation is from 1:00-7:00 pm, with family present from 5:00-6:00 pm, Wednesday, February 1, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main Street, Aberdeen.

Wilma Wunner was born on April 17, 1922 in Hillhead, SD to Adam and Ida (Netzer) Wunner. She grew up in Eureka, SD graduating from Eureka High School. After graduation she worked at the McPherson County courthouse in Leola. She was united in marriage to Edwin Hilgemann on January 14, 1945 in Amarillo, TX. Leola was their home throughout their married life together with the exception of residing in Langdon, ND for a few years.

Wilma was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Leola. She was a loving mother, wife, daughter, and sister. Among her many interests some favorites were reading, gardening, card stamping, playing bridge, spoon and stamp collecting, bowling and traveling. Wilma also enjoyed collecting fossils & minerals establishing Wilma's Rock Museum (Leola) in a one room school house in the 70's. She loved sharing her collection with many school groups, local residents and out of town visitors. Throughout the years Wilma actively participated in SD & ND Rock Clubs and shows, SD Coin & Stamp Assn., SD Children's Care, 4-H leadership, Germans from Russia Organization, American Legion Auxiliary, Roy S. Hickman Unit #78, Leola, SD; OES (Minerva No.5 Chapter) Aberdeen, SD, and a charter member of Leola Disco Club.

Grateful for having shared Wilma's love and life are two daughters and son-in-law Carol Hilgemann, Spearfish; Julie (Roger) Harmon, North Platte; family and friends.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Adam and Ida Wunner; husband, Edwin Hilgemann; baby brother, Vernon Wunner; four sisters and brother-in-laws, Alice (Art) Springer, Georgina (Art) Joachim, Freida (Jake) Kammerer, & Doris (Bob) Snyder.

The family suggests memorials to St. James Lutheran Church, Leola, SD.

RAMONA MAE ANDERSON

The funeral service for Ramona Anderson, 77, of Aberdeen will be 4:00 p.m., Monday, January 30, 2012 at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Eldon Reich officiating. A funeral service in Watertown will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 31, at Cornerstone United Methodist Church, with Pastor Elmer Brinkman officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Watertown. Ramona died Thursday, January 26 at home.

Ramona Mae Horswill was born on April 2, 1934 to Lloyd D. and Myrtle C. (Dodge) Horswill in Watertown, SD. She went to school and graduated from Summit High School in 1952. Following her graduation she attended Northern State University.

Ramona married Dean Anderson at the United Methodist Church in Summit on August 17, 1952. Three weeks after their marriage she was stricken with Polio, leaving her paralyzed. She never complained about her disability, but chose to overcome it and use her abilities to help others and serve her Lord. Along with being a loving wife and mother, she did much of the bookwork for the farm to help her husband. She taught Sunday school, helped put together the church Christmas programs for many years. Ramona was known for her fresh baked bread and enjoyed crocheting, knitting and sewing. She loved calling to visit with people and reading.

Ramona was a member of the United Methodist Churches in Summit, Milbank and Aberdeen.

Grateful for having shared Ramona’s life are her daughter, Dalita (Thomas) Meyer, grandchildren, Bailey, and Blake all of Aberdeen, Sister-in-Laws, Dorothy Davis and Carolyn Anderson.

Preceding her in death are her husband, Dean Anderson, two infant daughters, LaDonna and Tressa, her parents, Lloyd and Myrtle Horswill, and a baby sister, RoseMary.

ESTHER STRUCK

The funeral services for Esther Struck, 89, of Aberdeen will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 28, 2012 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Harold E. Salem officiating. Burial at Riverside Memorial Park. Esther died Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital, Aberdeen.

Visitation will be from 1-7 p.m. with family present from 5-7 p.m., Friday, January 27 at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen.

Esther was born to Wilford B and Artie Mae (Utterbach) Hedges on November 5, 1922 at Batavia, IA. They moved to the Frederick, SD area in 1934 and resided there many years.

Esther married George Struck on September 19, 1942. They resided throughout their marriage on the same Centennial farm.

Esther was a great cook and wonderful baker; well known for her chocolate cake and divinity candy. She had many hobbies – gardening, plants, sewing, and games. She loved animals and was a busy farm wife. Esther belonged to Bide-a-wee Extension Club, Moose Lodge, Brown County Election Board and First Baptist Church.

Her three granddaughters, three grandsons and ten great grandchildren brought her great joy through many years.

Grateful for having shared Esther’s life are her husband, George Struck, one son, Gerald (Gail) and one daughter, Margaret (Les), six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, one sister, Tessie Berheim.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Lee, five brothers and six sisters.

Memorials can be sent to Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, Aberdeen.
