Richard L. Frazee

Richard Lyle Frazee, age 53 of Yankton passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on Sunday, August 22, 2004 in Las Vegas, NV.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 27, 2004, at the Kostel Funeral Chapel, Yankton, with Rev. David Lund officiating. Burial will be in the Yankton Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Ernest-Bowyer VFW Post #791.

Visitations will be 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, August 26, 2004, at the Kostel Funeral Home, Yankton, and then one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Thadeus Brandt, Keith Livingston, Darrick Livingston, Travis Frazee, Galen Juhnke and Ben Ludeking.

Rick was born September 30, 1950 in Sioux City, IA, to Richard Sr., and Violet (Shannon) Frazee of North Sioux City, SD. He was the second oldest of eleven children born unto this union. As a child, Rick was baptized into the North Sioux City Baptist Church in North Sioux City, SD. Rick attended McCook Elementary School in North Sioux City, SD, and graduated from Riverside High School in Sioux City, IA, in 1968. He went on to join the Army after high school where he was stationed in Biloxi, MS, and worked as an air traffic controller. After his four years in the service, Rick moved to Florida where he trained Greyhound racing dogs for a couple of years before returning to the Midwest where he lived in Minneapolis and worked as a farmhand. Rick came back to his home area and worked at Balou Bricks in Sioux City, IA, and finally at Precision Specialty Products of Elk Point, SD, from 1977-80. On August 19, 1978, Rick married Brenda Livingston in Madison, SD, and they made their home in Vermillion, SD, for one year, and then one year in Richland, SD, before the family moved to Coleridge, NE, where Rick began his 24-year career as a Tool and Dye Maker for Hydraulics, Inc. of Hartington, NE. Rick and his family moved to Yankton, SD, in 1982, where they have lived since that time. Rick and Brenda had just celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary last Thursday.

Rick had many loves in his life, in addition to adoring; loving and spending time with his family. Rick loved to play pool, which is what he was doing in Las Vegas at the time of his death. He played for the Moose lodge, of which he was a long-time member. His team had won the regional championship here, and they were in Las Vegas representing South Dakota at the IAPA National 9-Ball Tournament. He was doing exceptionally well at the tournament and, in fact, had "run the table" twice on one of his competitors. Rick was also an avid reader of western novels, one of his favorite authors being Louis L'Amour. Although Mike Tice (head coach of the Minnesota Vikings) probably doesn't know this, Rick was also one of the Minnesota Vikings most enthusiastic armchair coaches. Football season was an easy time to locate Rick, as he was always there at home, rooting on his Vikes, or on occasion, cheering from the stands at the Metrodome. He also loved to watch Minnesota Twins baseball, play golf, ride motorcycles, play cards, go fishing with Brenda, and in general just loved to socialize with family friends. If there was a get-together planned, Rick was always eager to be there. He loved to laugh, and had an unforgettable, hearty laugh.

Rick's memory will be cherished by the love of his life, his "Hon" Brenda of Yankton, son Bradley (Amber Volmer) and their children Adam, Aaron, Madelyn, Molly, Joseph, Juliana, and another baby due in November, all of Marshaltown, IA; Beth Livingston and her fiancé Paul Cuneo of Paducah, KY; and Brandon (Kelly Schmidt) of Volin, SD; his father Richard, Sr. of Sergeant Bluff, IA; sisters Karen (Conrad) Calsbeek of Sioux City, IA, and their children Leona, Pam, Becky, and Melinda; Bonnie (Dave) Solano of Troy, MI, and their children Steven and Dana; Janice (John) Bach of Springdale, AK, and their children Thadeus, Leah, and Lisa; Lori (Ben) Ludeking of Sioux City, IA, and their children Josh, Chris, and Dacia; Brothers: Kenny Frazee of Minneapolis, MN, and his children Emma and Harrison; Terry Frazee of Monument, CO, and his daughter Tiffany; Dennis (Nancy) Frazee of Omaha, NE, and their children Jennifer and Samantha; Martin Frazee of Omaha, NE; Dean (Angela) Frazee of Omaha, NE, and their children Brendan, Justin, and Derrick; Don (Kim) Frazee of Omaha, NE, and their children Alexis, Travis, and Andrew; Mother-in-law Benita Livingston, of Yankton, SD; Brothers-in-law Doyle (Dar) Livingston of Irene, SD, and their children Bryan (Judy Jensen) Livingston of Yankton, SD, and Bryan's three children; Sisters-in-law: Janice Juhnke (Raymond Wade) of Lynch, NE, and her two children; Jolene (Bob) Berndt of Yankton, SD, and their two children; and Rhonda (Todd) Kasuske of Gayville, SD, and their three children.

Rick was preceded in death by his mother Violet in 2002 and father-in-law Ralph Livingston in 2001.
