Orpha Stenson
The funeral for Orpha Stenson, of Lidgerwood, ND, was held on Friday, April 4, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Bergen Lutheran Church, Lidgerwood, ND with Reverend Art Hoium officiating. Visitation was Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Frank-Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Lidgerwood. Burial was at Nidaros Cemetery, near Lidgerwood.
Orpha Medhaug, daughter of Elias and Josephine (Nelson) Medhaug, was born on December 3, 1920 near Veblen, SD. She grew up in rural Veblen, where she attended rural school and graduated from Veblen High School in 1938. She was united in marriage to John Stenson on March 31, 1939 at Sisseton, SD. The couple farmed in Marshall and Roberts counties in South Dakota, and in Richland County, North Dakota until John’s death in 1978. Orpha then moved to Lidgerwood, where she resided until entering Four Seasons Health Care Center in Forman, ND.
Orpha was a member of Nidaros Lutheran Free Church, rural Veblen until 1962, when she joined Bergen Lutheran Church. She was active in Ladies Aid, ALCW and was a Sunday School teacher. She was also active with the Cancer Society, Hospice and Duerr Homemakers. Orpha enjoyed sewing and doing embroidery work.
Orpha passed away Monday, March 31, 2003, at Four Seasons Health Care Center in Forman. She was 82 years old.
She is survived by a son, Mark (Cindy) Stenson, Lidgerwood, ND; two daughters, Karen (Jim) Kiefer, Milbank, SD and Nancy (Ken) Forster, Forman, ND; two brothers, Earl (Gloria) Medhaug and Obert (Maxine) Medhaug, all of Veblen, SD; three sisters, Ruth (Wendell) Westfield, Moorhead, MN, Delores Blair, Roswell, NM and Agnes Finnesand, Sisseton, SD; one sister-in-law, Borghild Medhaug, of Minnesota; eight grandchildren, Jayne (Dan) Richards, Ann (Todd) Langbehn, Chris (Anna) Stenson, Jesse Stenson, Matthew Stenson, Jerod David, Katie (Josh) LeMier and Nathan Forster; and seven great-grandchildren, Cle, Eli and Jimmy Richards, Hannah and Max Langbehn, Tia Stenson and Gavin LeMier.
She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant son Lynn, her parents, three brothers, Gerhard, Marvin and Sander Medhaug, and one sister, Jeannette Haaland.
Casketbearers were Greg Blair, Doug Medhaug, Cal Medhaug, Lee Westfield, Kevin Medhaug and Jason Medhaug. Becky Dathe was organist, Marlene Krause was soloist, and Ed and Jean Langeliers sang a duet. Frank-Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Lidgerwood was in charge of the arrangements.

Milan H. Okeson
Funeral service for Milan Harvard Okeson, 67, of Sisseton, SD was held on Friday, Apr. 4, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD with Rev. Ronald Brugger officiating. Pallbearers were Richard Evenson, Glen
Evenson, Ralph Schmidt, Alan Schmidt, Calvin Finnesand and Dewain Waletich Jr. Organist was Marcia Peterson and soloist was Marlys Brooks. Visitation was Thursday, Apr. 3, 2003 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Friday, Apr.
4, 2003 from 9:00 a.m. until noon at the Cahill Funeral Chapel, and one hour prior to the services at the church. The Cahill Funeral Chapel of Sisseton, SD was in charge of arrangements.
Milan was born on September 7, 1935 in Sisseton, SD to Clarence and Elvida (Gudem) Okeson. Milan grew up and attended Dry Wood Lake Country School #1 and graduated from Sisseton High School in 1953. Milan was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church and was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church. He served in the National Guard and was honorably discharged in 1963. Milan purchased the Okeson family farm from his parents, where he farmed and ranched his entire life. Milan passed away on March 30, 2003 at his home. Milan was a member of the Hills and Valley Riding Club and loved to care for his cattle.
Milan is survived by his mother, Elvida Okeson of Sisseton, SD; two brothers, Alvin and Gloria Okeson of Palmer, AK and Clifton Okeson of Des Moines, IA; along with one niece, Cathy Okeson of Butte, MT; two nephews,
Philip Okeson of Anchorage, AK and Mark Okeson of Palmer, AK; two grandnieces and one grandnephew.
Milan was preceded in death by his father, and maternal and paternal grandparents.

Alvin Fellbaum
Alvin Fellbaum, 89, Webster died Saturday, May 31, 2003 at Lake Area Hospital.
Services were Wednesday, June 4 at American Lutheran Church, Webster with Pastor Jan FitzGibbon officiating. Casket bearers were Danny O’Bryan, Troy, Charlie, Donald, Gary, Carl and Paul Fellbaum. Honorary casket bearers were granddaughters, Michelle Kaesviharn, Casey Hewitt, Rachael and Ruth Fellbaum.
Burial with military rites was in Webster Cemetery.
Alvin Paul Fellbaum was born April 5, 1914 to Henry and Anna (Loesin) Fellbaum in Hammer, SD. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church near Hammer. He grew up on a farm near Hammer, attended country school and graduated from Sisseton High School in 1934. He farmed with his parents until the fall of 1938 when he moved to Webster, SD where he opened a hardware store.
He married Ruby Hagen June 8, 1941 in Webster. In November 1942 he joined the US Army serving in Normandy, Northern France and Central Europe during WWII. After his discharge in February 1946 he returned to Webster and the hardware business. In 1982 he sold the business but continued to work there part time until his retirement.
He was a member of American Lutheran Church where he was on the church council and sang in the church choir. He was also a member of Kiwanis, Chamber of Commerce, Izaak Walton League, Gideons and served on the advisory board of United Hardware.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading and spending time with family.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Dale and Alice Fellbaum; Doug Fellbaum; Gene and Gail Fellbaum, two daughters, Patricia and Tom O’Bryan, Woodland Hills, CA; Cheryl and Alan Hewitt, Watertown; sister-in-law, Lylas Fellbaum, Bozeman, MT; 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, three sisters and one granddaughter.

Edward Vern Erickson
Funeral service for Edward Vern Erickson, 67, of Veblen, SD was held on Friday, June 13, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Veblen, SD with Rev. Harold Watrous officiating. Pallbearers were Rodney Burhans, Samson Bendickson, Dennis Hunsinger, Maurice Johnson, Pat Adams, and Sam Bendickson. Honorary Pallbearers were "All of Edward's co-workers and friends". Organist was Colleen Halverson and soloist was John Pallansch. Interment was in the Veblen Cemetery, Veblen, SD. Military Rites were provided by the Eddie Robertson American Legion Post #76. Visitation was Thursday, June 12, 2003 from noon until 7:00 p.m. at the Cahill Funeral Chapel, and one hour prior to services at the church. The Cahill Funeral Chapel of Sisseton, SD was in charge of arrangements.
Edward was born on December 24, 1935 in Veblen, SD to Sven and Ella (Jacobson) Erickson. He attended school near Veblen, graduating from Veblen High School. Edward worked road construction for a year before entering the United States Army on October 8, 1958 where he served until October 7, 1960. After his discharge Edward worked on bridge construction, before working for Medallion Homes in Watertown, SD, where he worked for 38 years. Ed liked to travel, play cards, and loved crossword puzzles. Edward passed away on June 9, 2003 at a Sioux Falls Hospital from pulmonary fibrosis.
Edward is survived by his wife, Ellen Erickson of Veblen, SD; five children, Carol Burhans of Fargo, ND, Mark Erickson of Phoenix, AZ, Shirley and husband Dennis Hunsinger of Apple Valley, MN, Janet Erickson of Washington, DC, and David Erickson of Richfield, MN; two sisters, Mrs. Irene Vedder of Veblen, SD, and Gloria Larson of Britton, SD; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

George Schade
Memorial Service for George Schade, 96, of Sisseton, SD was held on Thursday, December 11, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church Chapel, Sisseton, SD with Rev. Ronald Brugger officiating. Interment was in the Sisseton Cemetery. Ruth Meyer was the organist and Carolyn Oetken was the soloist. The Cahill Funeral Chapel of Sisseton, SD was in charge of arrangements.
George was born on May 17, 1907 in Hart Township, Roberts County, SD to Rev. Carl and wife Emma (Eikel-berg) Schade. He was baptized June 2, 1907 and was confirmed September 22, 1918 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Rosholt, SD by his father, Rev. Carl Schade.
He grew up on a farm NE of Sisseton in Hart Township. He took normal training course in high school and graduated from Sisseton High School in 1925. He taught two years in rural school, he learned a "limited" amount of Norwegian from a class of nine beginners in his first year of teaching, before he was to enter Luther College in Decorah, IA. He was awarded a scholarship to Luther College where he graduated in 1931.
George attended graduate school at the University of Iowa where he earned a degree in chemistry. Teaching assignments were very hard to come by, but he landed one at Echo, MN where he taught chemistry and three other classes besides acting as principal. This is where he met his wife, Lorene Koecher. They were married November 28, 1935.
He then taught high school in Carpenter, WY. The school and the Benedett's store were the only buildings with electricity. Water had to be carried from the town pump in a five gallon cream can resting on the running board of the car. Next they moved to Goodridge, MN where George taught, still without electricity in their two-room house. After two years at Goodridge, they spent five years in Brooten, MN, one year at Farmington, two years at Blue Earth, MN and a long and satisfying period in Luverne, MN where he taught high school chemistry and physics. George was teacher of the year in 1953.
They retired to Hackensack, MN in June of 1973. Health was failing when he and Lorene moved to Sisseton, SD to be closer to family in October of 1997. They resided in an apartment in Sisseton until Greenleaf Assisted Living Center opened in July of 1999. Lorene passed away in August of 1999. George fell in October of 2003 and broke his pelvic bone. He was admitted to Wilmot Nursing Home on October 13 where he passed away peacefully on December 7, 2003.
George is survived by a sister-in-law, Jeannette Olson of Granite Falls, MN; nieces and nephews, Stanley Schade of Sisseton, SD, Karen Oyen of Las Animas, CO, Ardys Pulse of Rapid City, SD, Jean Potter of Fairmont, MN, and Lois Ziemer of Fargo, ND.
George was preceded in death by his wife; parents; a stillborn son; brothers, John Schade and Carl Schade; and sisters, Elizabeth Schade and Elsa Schade.

Sylvan R. White
Funeral Service for Sylvan R. White, 63, of Sisseton, SD was held on Monday, December 8, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at the Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD with Rev. Filmore Simon officiating. Pallbearers were Eugene DeMarrias, Lincoln DeMarrias, John Redday Sr., Chris Blue, Larry Bedonie, and Mike Kal-kowski. Honorary pallbearers were "All of Sylvan's friends and relatives". Interment was in the Buffalo Lake Presbyterian Cemetery, Eden, SD. Wake Services were Saturday and Sunday, December 6th & 7th starting at 7:00 p.m. at the Tribal Community Center with Sunday's wake being all night. The Cahill Funeral Chapel of Sisseton, SD was in charge of arrangements.
Sylvan Russell White was born on April 25, 1940 in Sisseton, SD to Oscar and Ida (Marks) White. Sylvan loved to travel living in several different locations, working numerous different jobs, including managing a bakery and was a ranch hand. Sylvan enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a sketch artist as well as doing many oil paintings, mostly of wildlife scenes. Sylvan passed away unexpectedly on December 4, 2003 at home.
Sylvan is survived by two sisters, Patty and husband Mike Kalkowski of Kennard, NE; and Martha King of Sisseton; special companion, Almira "Tika" Leith of Sisseton; nieces, Gwen, Shellie, Roxie, and Janet; and nephew Ethan.
Sylvan was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Jeff; brother, Robert; and infant sister, Evelyn.

Dustin Fisher
Funeral Mass for Dustin "Duddy" Fisher, 23, of Sisseton, SD, was held on Wednesday, February 4, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD with Rev. Fr. Walter Butor, Rev. Ronald Campbell, Lay Reader Clyde Kampeska, and Senior Catechist John Cloud III officiating. Pallbearers were Marshall Loney, Ron Neil, Cory Yammerino, Corey Simon, Delbert Harris, Mark Marte, Jon Simon, and Jamie Tchida. Honorary pallbearers were "All of Dustin's Family and Friends". Organists were Billy Kohl and Bill Nelson, and song leader was Lunette Grimsrud. Interment was in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. Wake Services were Monday, February 2, and Tuesday, February 3, 2004 starting at 7:30 p.m. at St. Peter's Hall. The Cahill Funeral Chapel of Sisseton, SD was in charge of arrangements.
Dustin Robert Fisher was born on February 15, 1980 in Sisseton, SD to Robert and Peggy (Simon) Fisher. He grew up and attended school in Sisseton. Even at the early age of 4, Dustin enjoyed working with his siblings in the salvage yard changing transmissions and working on cars. Dustin later worked as a mechanic at Sisseton Auto Sales where he worked until his death.
Dustin's passion was cars, he loved to work on and drive them. He loved the challenge of working on a car to make it run. Dustin was a friend to everyone and loved to stop and visit with everyone. Dustin passed away on February 1, 2004 from injuries he received in a car accident near Sisseton, SD.
Dustin is survived by his parents, Robert and Peggy Fisher of Sisseton, SD; companion, Valene Heminger of Sisseton, SD; two sisters, Mandi Fisher of Sisseton, SD, and Kelli and husband Tubby Karst of Sisseton, SD; one brother, Ryan Fisher of Sisseton, SD; maternal grandparents, Archie and Ardeth Simon of Sisseton, SD; paternal grandfather, O. J. Fisher of Sisseton, SD; maternal-great-grandmother, Evelyn Simon; four nieces, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Dustin was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Lucille Derby-Foster.

Nathan Lee Tchida
Funeral Mass for Nathan Lee Tchida, 18, of Sisseton, SD, was held on Thursday, February 5, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD with Rev. Fr. Norman Volk, OMI, celebrant. Organist was Bill Nelson and song leader was Teresa Arbach. Pallbearers were Erik Brown, Aaron Henning, Josh Cunningham, Dane Helgeson, Louis Stevens, Jacob German, Aaron Pond, Eric Wegehaupt, John Yost, Jeremy Bailey, and Juan Casarez. Honorary pallbearers were the Sisseton High School Class of 2004. Interment was in the Goodwill Cemetery, rural Sisseton. Visitation was Wednesday, February 4, 2004 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Scripture Service at St. Peter's Catholic Church, and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. The Cahill Funeral Chapel of Sisseton, SD was in charge of arrangements.
Nathan was born on February 28, 1985 in Sisseton, SD, to Richard "Rick" and Sharon (Arbach) Tchida. He grew up and attended school in Sisseton and was currently a senior at Sisseton High School. Nathan attended most all Sisseton Redmen High School football and basketball games. He enjoyed rollerblading, camping, and playing Playstation 2. His plans were to graduate this spring from high school, move to Brookings, SD, this summer and work, and then attend South Dakota State University this fall, majoring in civil engineering.
Nathan passed away on February 1, 2004 from injuries received in a motor vehicle crash near Sisseton.
Nathan is survived by his parents, Rick and Sharon Tchida of Sisseton; 12 siblings, John Tchida of Sisseton, Mike (Kristi) Tchida of Sisseton, Chad (Janeen) Tchida of Sisseton, Jamie Tchida of Sisseton, Robin Tchida of Huron, Kelly (Frank) Nelson of Sisseton, Kari Tchida, Carissa Tchida, Nicholas Tchida, Kayla Tchida, Austin Tchida, and Cody Tchida, all of Sisseton; maternal grandparents, Howard and Ardelle Arbach of Sisseton; half-sister, Monique Duarte of Los Angeles, CA; nieces and nephews, Blake Tchida, Diego and Kayla Nelson, Monica Fisher, and Anthony Yammerino, all of Sisseton, and Rachelle, Sarah, Alexia, and Jacob Duarte of Los Angeles, CA.
Nathan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents John and Olga Tchida, and one brother, Christopher Tchida.

Gladys Irene Paul
Funeral Service for Gladys Irene Paul, 49, of Waubay, SD was held on Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. James Episcopal Church, Enemy Swim, SD with the Rev. Ronald Campbell, Clyde Kampeska Lay Reader officiating. Pallbearers were John Sargeant, Doug and Jason Rencountre, Ray Rouillard, Stanley Paul, Merle RedBear, Steve Kongi, Robert White, Duane Hislaw, and Thomas Evans. Honorary Pallbearers were Lois Kampeska, Sonia Rouillard, Donnette Eagle, Antoinette Owen, Mary Keeble, Sharon Hopkins, Evelyn Blacksmith, Valorie Rondell, and "All of Gladys's Friends, Relatives, and Co-Workers". Pianist was Billy Kohl with special music by Margaret Keeble, Ursula Eagle, and Franklin and Juanita Keeble, and Wayne Wasicana. Interment was in St. James Episcopal Cemetery, Enemy Swim, SD. Wake Services were Sunday, March 21, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at the St. James Guild Hall, with an all night wake on Monday, March 22, 2004 at the Hall starting at 7:00 p.m. The Cahill Funeral Chapel of Sisseton, South Dakota was in charge of arrangements.
Gladys was born on September 20, 1954 at Sisseton, SD to Eli and Maxine (Rouillard) White. She grew up and attended Enemy Swim Day School and graduated from Waubay High School. After her education Gladys worked at the Enemy Swim Day Care Center. Gladys was married to Joseph Paul Jr. on January 24, 1981 at St. James Episcopal Church. Gladys raised her family and worked in the Gaming Industry for Dakota Sioux Casino for 18 years. She also worked part-time in the security department for Enemy Swim Day School. Her hobbies included making quilts, playing cards, bingo, and attending Pow-Wows. Gladys passed away on March 19, 2004 at a Webster, SD hospital.
Gladys is survived by her husband Joseph Paul Jr. of Waubay, SD three children; Sara Paul and Nathaniel Paul both of Sioux Falls, SD and Joseph Paul III of Waubay, SD; two sisters, Marlene and Thelma White both of Waubay, SD, one brother; Clement White of Watertown, SD and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and maternal and paternal grandparents.

Marian A. Skatvold
Funeral service was held for Marian A. Skatvold, age 83, of Watertown, SD (formerly of Summit and Rosholt, SD) on Monday, March 22, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. at the Hope Lutheran Church, Summit, SD with Rev. Laura Overbo officiating. Organist was Val Moen with music provided by congregational hymns. Pallbearers were Mike Morrison, Richard Anderson, Scott Roth, Allen, Curt and Roger Skatvold. Visitation was Monday, March 22, 2004, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the church, prior to service. Johnson Funeral Home of Rosholt, SD was in charge of arrangements.
Marian was born on June 16, 1920 to Obert and Julia (Udseth) Bronson, south of Summit in Grant County, SD. She was baptized and confirmed at Lebanon Lutheran Church near Summit. Marian graduated from Summit High School and married O’Dean Orton on October 10, 1939. They lived in St. Paul, MN and later moved to the Orton farm near Ortley, SD. Marian and O’Dean moved to Washington state where Marian worked at a grenade/torpedo factory during World War II. She attended nursing training and became an LPN.
After O’Dean’s death in 1959, Marian moved her family back to South Dakota, living and working in Watertown and Sisseton. She married Ernie Skatvold on August 3, 1963 at Lebanon Church. They lived in Waubay, where they owned and operated the Waubay Rest Home. Ernie died in 1979.
Marian moved to Summit in 1983, where she was active at Hope Lutheran Church and at the Senior Center. She relocated to Rosholt and in June 2002 moved to Meadow Lakes Assisted Living in Watertown, SD.
Marian passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2004 at a Watertown, SD hospital.
Marian is survived by two sons, Douglas and Judy Orton of Boise, ID and Robert and Anne Orton of Madison, SD; one step-daughter, Dianne Morrison of Waubay, SD; three step-sons, Curt Skatvold of Kansas City, MO, Roger and Jane Skatvold of Watertown, SD and Allen and Marianne Skatvold of Revillo, SD; and one sister-in-law, Prudence Orton of Webster, SD; fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands, O’Dean and Ernie.

Anna Aspelund
Mundwiler Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Olaf (Anna) Aspelund, age 90, of Wilmot , SD who died March 22, 2004 at the Wilmot Care Center. Funeral services were Friday, March 26, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in the Wilmot Lutheran Church. Rev. Clara Wadsworth and Rev. John Ragan officiated and burial was in the Wilmot Cemetery. Visitation was at the church on Friday, one hour prior to the service. Music was presented by JoAnn Mickelson, organist and a duet by Pastor Clara Wadsworth and Elaine Vreim. Casket bearers were Matthew Aspelund, Scott Plumb, RheaDon Wingo, Danny Aspelund, Kawohi Aspelund, Claudette Wingo and Melissa Cooper.
Anna Marie Aspelund was born April 18, 1913, at Wilmot, SD; the daughter of Hans P. and Susanna A. (Miller) Hansen. She graduated from Wilmot High School in 1930. She was united in marriage on May 3, 1940, at her parents home with Olaf A. Aspelund.
The couple farmed together in the Wilmot and Peever areas. Anna was a faithful member of the Wilmot Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for many years, as well as participating in the church circle, ladies aid and quilting for church missions. She also enjoyed crocheting.
Anna Aspelund is survived by her husband, Olaf of Wilmot, SD; her four children: Patricia and husband Donnie Wingo of Seagraves, TX; Daniel and wife Mauliola Aspelund of Kailua, HI; Penelope Aspelund of Kalamazoo, MI and Robert Aspelund of Aberdeen, SD. A daughter-in-law: Ann Marshall of Aberdeen, SD. Fourteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. One brother: Ray and wife Donna Hansen of Wilmot, SD; two sisters: Mrs. Dolly Foss of Wilmot, SD and Mrs. Grace Wilson of Aberdeen, SD. Three sisters-in-law: Mrs. Gloria Hansen of Wilmot, SD; Mrs. Arlene Hansen of Wilmot, SD and Mrs. Joyce Hansen of Peever, SD.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son David; one daughter Pamela Cooper and five brothers: Nels, Richard, Russell, Adrian and Robert.
The Mundwiler Funeral Home of Milbank was in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Olaf (Anna) Aspelund.

June (Stickland) Wellnitz
Mundwiler Funeral Home announces the death of June (Stickland Wellnitz), age 57 of Watertown, a former Milbank resident, who died May 21, 2002 at her residence in Watertown. Funeral services were held on Friday, May 24, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. in the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank. Rev. Mark A. Erickson officiated and the burial was at One Road Bethel Cemetery, rural Sisseton. Visitation was Thursday from 6 p-8 p.m. at the Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank. Music was presented by Roon. Visitation was Thursday from 6 p.m. -8 p.m. at the Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank. Music was presented by Roger Goosen, organist and the Landmark Sisters, vocalists. Honorary pallbearers were June’s grandchildren: Joshua Stickland, Shawn Stickland, Cory Stickland, Tyler Stickland, Krista Stickland, Trever Stickland and Kasey Stickland. Casket bearers were Eric Dahl, Mark Zimmerman, Douglas Kadrmas, Joshua Stickland, Shawn Stickland, Cory Stickland and Tyler Stickland.
June Oriette Dahl Stickland Wellnitz was born June 25, 1944 at Webster, SD, the daughter of Orvin M. and Arlette J. (Landmark) Dahl. She attended school in One Road Township, Roberts County through the 8th grade. She attended high school at Sisseton High School. She was unitied in marriage on June 16, 1962 with Dean Stickland. June was a life long resident of northeastern South Dakota. She was a cook for several Beverly Care facilities. She later married Richard Wellnitz in November of 1991. She was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank, and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at One Road Bethel Church, rural Sisseton. She was a member of the V. F. W. Ladies Auxiliary in Milbank.
June passed away following a lengthy cancer illness at her residence in Watertown.
June is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick and Wendy Stickland of Sisseton, SD and James and Deanna Stickland of Milbank, SD; six grandsons and one granddaughter; her parents, Orvin and Arlette Dahl of Watertown, SD; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lynette and Douglas Kadrmas of Fargo, ND and LaDonna and Mark Zimmerman of Aberdeen, SD; one brother and sister-in-law, Bryan and Linda Dahl of Sisseton, SD and a special friend, Hewitt (Willy) Crow of Watertown, SD.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, one brother and one nephew.
The Mundwiler Funeral Home of Milbank was in charge of the arrangements for June (Stickland) Wellnitz.

Brenda Lynn Gunderson
Brenda Lynn Gunderson, loved by so many family and friends, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 14, 2002.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 25, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the Foothills Community Baptist Church in Piedmont with Pastor Charles Hall officiating. Burial followed at the Piedmont Cemetery.
Brenda Gunderson was born June 19, 1964 in Rapid City, SD to R.W. and Ellen Stoll. She attended elementary school in Piedmont and junior and senior high in Sturgis, graduating from Brown High School in 1982. She married Darin Roger Gunderson on July 15, 1982 in New Orleans, LA. They lived in Honolulu, HI where they had their daughter, Vanessa Lorraine in 1984 and later moved to Washington state where their son, Darin Austin was born in 1988. In 1993, they moved to Piedmont where the family has resided since.
Brenda worked as a loan officer Blue Ribbon Finance Company in Rapid City. She was a member of Foothills Community Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, Vanessa Lorraine and D. Austin; Darin Gunderson; her parents, R.W. and Ellen Stoll, Piedmont, SD; her sisters, Katie and Bruce Martin of Lake Stevens, WA and their sons, Joey, Casey and Danny; and Tracey Stoll Miner of Rapid City, SD; her brothers, Dick Stoll, Winfield, KS and Alan and DeeDee Stoll, Winfield, KS and their son, Rigan.
Brenda will be remembered and missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial fund has been established for Brenda’s children, Vanessa and D. Austin.

Bruno Bombeck
Funeral services for Bruno Bombeck, 86 of Sisseton, SD, formerly of New Effington, SD area, were held on Thursday, May 23, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in New Effington, SD with Rev. John Paulson officiating. Visitation was Wednesday, May 22 from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in New Effington and one hour prior to services on Thursday. Pallbearers were Dale and Darrell Medenwald, Curtis Stowe and Tom Leverson. Organist was Debbie Bredvik and vocalist was Keith Bostrom. Interment was held at New Effington Community Cemetery, rural New Effington, SD.
Bruno was born September 3, 1915 to Fred and Martha Bombeck at Bellingham, MN. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He attended country school in Minnesota. He moved with his family in 1930 to New Effington, SD where he helped on the farm. In 1941, he married Alice Weibeto and they moved to Portland, OR where he worked in the shipyards. He entered the U. S. Army in 1943 where he served with the II Airborne Division and the 925 Ordinance Division in England, France and Germany. He earned the American Theater Service Medal and the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal and was discharged in 1946. He returned to South Dakota and farmed until 1951 when Alice died. Bruno then worked road construction in Minnesota for 11 years and in South Dakota for 5 years. He married Monica Haase in 1969. Bruno worked for the Roberts County Highway Department for 11 years. He was a life member of the American Legion and the VFW. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Bruno is survived by his wife Monica of Sisseton; two sons, Kenneth and Lorna of Sioux Falls, SD and Donald and Jane of Inver Grove Heights, MN; one daughter, Shirley and Gary Wells of Adair, OK; ten grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two step-sons, Robert Haase of Ellendale, ND and William and Mary Haase of Wahpeton, ND; two step-grandchildren and 5 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a wife, Alice.
