Henry J. (H.J.) Aesoph

Mr. Henry J. (H.J.) Aesoph, age 94, of Milbank died September 26, 2009, at a care center in Milbank.

A Prayer Service will be held Thursday, October 1st at 11:00 a.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank. Father Ken Lulf and Father Daniel Wolfgram will officiate and a private burial will be in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery at Orient, SD. There will be no visitation.

He was born at home in Hyde County, SD to George and Rose (Warda) Aesoph and was the youngest of eight children. He was a member of St. Joseph’s and St. Lawrence Catholic Churches. He married Helen Sweetland in 1938, and to this union, nine children were born. He married Bonnie Brink in 1982.

In Orient, he farmed the Homestead that his parents owned, and operated Heinie’s Bar for many years, later selling the Homestead to his nephew. In 1955, he moved his family to Milbank, SD, where he was employed by the Mercantile Company, then became a partner in The Milbank Implement Store. He established the Aesoph & Sons Trucking Company, which operated for many years under his direction and after his retirement by his sons. He also enjoyed working with cattle in his semi-retirement years.

He was a man who spoke his mind and met life’s challenges with good humor, always stating, “it could be worse!” Even as his health deteriorated in later years, he maintained his remarkable sense of humor and spunk.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen; two sons: Thomas and Gary; one son-in-law: David Vogel, and all of his siblings.

Henry J. Aesoph is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Milbank, SD; his children: Dale and wife Jean Aesoph of Milbank, SD; Don and wife Patti Aesoph of Milbank, SD; Mary (Gary) Aesoph of Sioux City, IA; Rheta Kopecky of Sioux Falls, SD; Jeanne Vogel of Seattle, WA; Jon and wife Laura Aesoph of Coupeville, WA; Jim and wife Brenda Aesoph of Watertown, SD; Chris and wife Lauri Aesoph of Victoria, British Columbia; Todd and wife Kathy Brink of Summit, SD; Dann Brink of Summit, SD; Chad and wife Tammie Brink of Renner, SD; 33 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Betty Letze

Betty Letze, age 71 of Summit passed away on September 18th at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown.

Funeral services will be Monday, September 21, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Summit Community Hall. Rev. Janet Miller will officiate and burial will be in the Summit Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank from 5 – 7 p.m.and continue on Monday in Summit, one hour prior to the service.

Casket bearers will be her six granddaughters: Teresa Lewno, Laura Nugteren, Darcie Moehnke, Jessica Letze, Natasha Letze, and Becca Riter.

Betty LaVaughn (Long) Letze was born November 27, 1937, in Milbank, SD. She was the daughter of Selmer and Lola (Purintun) Long. Following her education, Betty was united in marriage with Dale Letze on December 24, 1955, in Watertown, SD. Dale and Betty farmed together near Summit. Betty also was the organizer for Letze Dragline. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and her wonderful cooking will be missed. She also enjoyed traveling.

Betty Letze is survived by her husband, Dale of Summit, SD; five children: Cindy and husband Michael Lewno of Wilmot, SD; Peggy and husband John Neumann of Lakeville, MN; Shelly and husband Wayne Gapp of Milbank, SD; Mikel and wife Melitta Letze of Stockbridge, GA; Karen and husband Robyn Riter of Watertown, SD; 6 granddaughters: Teresa Lewno, Dan and Laura (Lewno) Nugteren, Brian and Darcie (Neumann) Moehnke, Natasha and Jessica Letze, and Becca Riter; six grandsons: Darin Lewno, Gregg Neumann, Jeffrey Gapp, Kevin Gapp, Paul Gapp, and Scott Riter; one great granddaughter: Hazel Nugteren; one brother: Hugh Long of Ft. Pierre, SD.

Dolores Wentzlaff

Dolores Wentzlaff, age 90, of Edina, MN; a former Revillo area resident died September 18th at Golden Living Center in Milbank.

Private family services were held.

Dolly Adolph

Rulett “Dolly” Adolph, age 58 of Revillo passed away September 13th at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 19th at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Revillo. Rev. Kim Kanitz will officiate and burial will be in the Revillo Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday at Mundwiler Funeral Home from 5 - 7 p.m. and continue at the church on Saturday, one hour prior to the service.

Honorary bearers will be her grandchildren: Malaine Adolph, Tiera Koppman, Brandon Adolph, Josie Adolph, Keaton Adolph, and Samuel Adolph.Casket bearers will be: Kurt Adolph, Keith Adolph, Adam Adolph, Tyrel Seidell, Jordan Adolph, and Travis Collins.

The organist will be Carol Street.

Rulett “Dolly” (Switzenberg) Adolph was born June 29, 1951, in Clear Lake, SD. She was the daughter of Carl and Opal (Kruger) Switzenberg. She attended rural school at District #59 and Revillo High School. She was united in marriage with Melvin “Pete” Adolph on December 20, 1967, in Clear Lake, SD.

Dolly and Pete farmed together in Deuel County from 1969, until 1990. They moved into Revillo in November of 1990. Pete passed away on January 23, 2009. Dolly was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Revillo.

Dolly Adolph is survived by two daughters: Wendy Adolph of Clear Lake, SD; Melody and husband Joe Seidell of Albee, SD; two sons: Kurt and wife Emily Adolph of Stockholm, SD; Keith Adolph of Revillo, SD; 8 grandchildren; one brother: Kevin “Billy” Switzenberg of Revillo, SD; one sister: Trnnis and husband Tom Collins of Hayti, SD; a sister-in-law: Janice Switzenberg of Revillo, SD; and a long time friend: Sam Peiker of Revillo, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother: Jerome Switzenberg.

Aileen K. Wartenbee, the widow of Howard Wartenbee died September 10th in Oregon.

Funeral services will be Monday, September 21st at 1:00 p.m. at Valley Baptist Church in Milbank. Rev. Dennis Webber will officiate and burial will be in the Osceola #2 Cemetery at Marvin. Visitation will be at the church on Monday, one hour prior to the service. The vocalist will be Richard Thompson.

Aileen Katherine (Thompson) Wartenbee

Aileen Katherine (Thompson) Wartenbee was born on July 21, 1914, in Rockford, IL. She was the daughter of Scottish immigrants Alexander “Alex” and Katherine “Kate” (Anderson) Thompson. The family moved to the Klondike, South Dakota area in 1915. Her parents and an uncle bought the land and built the buildings. Her sister, Dorothy was born there in 1919. In 1920, they moved three and one half miles west of Twin Brooks, SD. Baby Dorothy became ill and died in the Webster Hospital within a few days. Aileen attended Twin Brooks #4 West School until the fall of 1926, then moved back to the Stockholm area. This time they were just a couple of miles east of the Indian Church. There she attended Madison #3 School. Aileen graduated from South Shore High School in 1933.

Aileen was united in marriage with Howard Wartenbee on September 30, 1933. Their marriage was blessed with five children. Together they farmed in the Milbank and Stockholm areas, and moved to their farm west of Twin Brooks in 1942, and lived there until 1998. They rented the farm and moved to Oregon to be near their children. They moved into a Memory Care facility in 2002, and Howard died on December 16, 2002.

Aileen was a member of the Grant County Historical Society, the Marvin Senior Citizens, and the Marvin BaptistChurch. She was a farmer’s wife, housewife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. Her interests included her church, crocheting, gathering history of the area and her lawn, of which she was very proud.

Aileen was called home to be with her Lord on September 10, 2009, at Alpine Court Memory Care in Eugene, OR. She was ninety five years, one month and twenty days. She is survived by her five children: Russell “Jim”and wife Sandy Wartenbee of LaPine, OR; Ann and husband Jimmy Hansen of Veneta, OR; Kay and husband Roger Rau of Albany, OR; Clarice Wartenbee of Brookings, OR and Loree and husband Maynard Grabow of Rapid City, SD; 11 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; and one sister-in-law: Alma Wartenbee of Oregon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one brother: Jake; one infant sister: Dorothy; and four great grandchildren.

Charlie Skaarer

Charles E. Skaarer, age 83 of Big Stone Lake died September 8th at his residence.

Funeral services will be Friday, September 11th at 2:00 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home. Rev. Craig Werling will officiate and burial with military honors will be in the Milbank Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday at Mundwiler Funeral Home from 5 – 7 p.m. and continue on Friday, one hour prior to the service. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion, Birch-Miller Post #9 and the V.F.W. Grant County Post #3486.

Casket bearers will be: Al Mathiason, Kenny Morris, Calvin Kennedy, Tim Mundwiler, Don Strege, and Noel White.

Charles Edward Skaarer was born December 4, 1925, in Milbank, SD. He was the son of Herbert and Mabel (Nelson) Skaarer. He was raised on a farm by Hartford Beach. He graduated from Milbank High School. He was united in marriage in 1945, with Glenies Groff. Charlie served in the United States Army in the Philippines from 1945-1946. He returned to Milbank and began a career as a lineman for Ottertail Power Company. He moved to Big Stone Lake in 1976, and has since resided. Charlie retired from Ottertail in 1988, after 41 years of service. He was a member of American Lutheran Church. Charlie enjoyed the outdoors, especially his time on Big Stone Lake, fishing, hunting, and golfing.

Charlie Skaarer is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: Dick and Teresa Skaarer of Milbank; six grandchildren: Erick (Emily) Skaarer of Keller, TX; Liza (Tom) Holbert of Sioux Falls, SD; Jennifer Skaarer of Dallas, TX; Abby (Jonathan) Kemp of Summerset, SD; Cali Skaarer of Harrisburg, SD and Isac Skaarer of Milbank, SD; seven great grandchildren; one brother: Harold and wife Donna Skaarer of Lacey, WA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one son, Doug.

Angeline R. Jurgens

Angeline Jurgens, age 95 of Wilmot passed away August 30th at the Wilmot Care Center.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, September 4th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wilmot. Father John McMullen, OSB will officiate and burial will be in the St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery in Milbank.

Visitation will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Thursday, beginning at 4 p.m. followed by a scripture and rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Friday, one hour prior to the Mass.

Honorary bearers will be her granddaughters: Lisa Cuppett, Kimberly Haugen, Michele Rader, Debra Lee, and Kari Pedersen. Casket bearers will grandsons: Chris Jurgens, Jason Jurgens, Bill Hippen, Kevin Jurgens, Jeff Jurgens, and Jerry Jurgens. Music will be provided by Sandy Tucholke, organist; Tim Jurgens, vocalist; Rachel Beumer, vocalist; and Tim Mundwiler, vocalist.

Angeline Rosetta (Kruger) Jurgens was born April 6, 1914, in Twin Brooks, SD. She was the daughter of Fred and Rose (Shervey) Kruger. They moved to a farm in Kilborn Township and Angeline attended rural school through the eighth grade. She stayed in Milbank and attended Milbank High School, graduating in 1932. Angeline worked at the Big Stone Canning Factory, a dress shop and the court house. On May 7, 1934, Angeline was united in marriage with Arnold John Jurgens at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank, SD. While living in Milbank, two children were born, Leon and Mary Louise. Baby Mary died on September 25, 1936. Arnold and Angeline lived in Milbank until April of 1938, then moved with their son, Leon to Wilmot, SD. Arnold worked as the manager of Jurgens & Sons. They were blessed with three more children: Helen, Betty, and Tim.

Angeline was an active member of St. Mary’s Parish in Wilmot and St. Mary’s Altar Society. For many years she performed many duties at the church as church sacristan. Arnold died February 9, 1975. Angeline lived in her home in Wilmot until July of 2007, then moved to the Wilmot Care Center.

Angeline’s time was spent caring for her family and serving her church and community. She was a member of the Community Home Auxiliary, board member of the Wilmot Community Home Development Corporation, and Library Board. Baking, crafts, sewing, reading, and gardening were some of her interests. She greatly enjoyed spending time at the lake cabin with family and friends. Her family will cherish the memory of her warm hospitality, as well as her wonderful cinnamon rolls that she was still baking age 93.

Angeline Jurgens is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Leon and Shirley Jurgens of Wilmot, SD; Tim and Donna Jurgens of Milbank, SD; two daughters and sons-in-law: Helen and Gordon Hippen of Dakota Dunes, SD; Betty and Dell Barsness of Walker, MN; one brother: Donald Kruger of Fridley, MN; one brother-in-law: Calvin Cameron of Wilmot, SD; 11 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter: Mary Louise; one brother: Russell Kruger; two sisters: Wylah Cameron and Mildred Schmidt; two sisters-in-law: Dorothy Kruger and Naida Kruger; one brother-in-law: Dale Schmidt.

The family suggests memorials be given to: St. Mary's Catholic Church, Wilmot City Library, and the Wilmot Care Center.

Adeline Overberg

Adeline Overberg, age 89 of Wilmot died August 15th at Northridge Residence in Ortonville.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 19th at 10:30 a.m. at Wilmot Lutheran Church. Rev. Steve Moberg will officiate and burial will be in the Wilmot Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday at Mundwiler Faith Chapel in Wilmot from 5 – 7 p.m. and continue at the church on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service.

Casket bearers will be: Dennis Reyelts, Robert Sandbakken, Wayne Sandbakken, Ray Christensen, Brian Lowe, and Svend Jensen. Music will be provided by Janice Vreim, organist and Jerry Niles, vocalist.

Adeline (Sandbakken) Overberg was born April 25, 1920, in BosskoTownship, Roberts County, SD. She was the daughter of Oscar and Bertha (Fossum) Sandbakken. She was united in marriage on January 1, 1941, with Martin Overberg in Wilmot, SD.

Following their marriage, Adeline farmed with her husband near Claire City until the fall of 1943. They moved to a farm in Garfield Township, Roberts County and resided there until retiring in 1973. They moved to a home on Big Stone Lake, near Big Stone City, SD. Martin died on September 24, 1984. Adeline moved into an apartment in Milbank, SD in June of 2004, then moved to Northridge Residence in Ortonville, MN in the fall of 2007.

Adeline was a member of the Wilmot Lutheran Church where she was active with Sunday School, Bible Study Circles, ladies aid and especially quilting. She completed 100 quilt tops for the church and mission projects. She was an avid gardener and loved flowers. Adeline was a member of the Big Stone Lake Preservation Project and was a member of a home extension club for 15 years.

Adeline is survived by her three children: Gary and wife Fay Overberg of Wilmot, SD; Barbara Johnsen of Chandler, AZ and Sharon Johnson of Kennewick, WA; 5 grandchildren: Brock Overberg, Jacquelyn Overberg, Angela Johnson, Tamara (John) Henry, and Heather (David) Kocker; 3 great grandchildren: Terry Henry, Kalen Kocker, and Hunter Ford; one brother: Elwood and wife Ann Sandbakken of Wilmot, SD; one sister: Jeanette and husband Perry Jones of Reno, NV.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one sister: Doris Reyelts.

Patrick A. Haubris

Patrick A. Haubris, age 57 of rural Wilmot died August 13th at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Patrick Andrew Haubris was born May 24, 1952, in Sisseton, SD. He was the son of William and Frances (Schneider) Haubris. He was raised in the Peever-Wilmot area and attended schools in Sisseton and Wilmot. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and had been a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Sisseton.

Upon his move to Bloomington, MN in the early 1970’s, Pat trained in the steel industry and was one of the two dozen precision flame cutters nation wide. Pat was united in marriage with Pamela Webster on April 18, 1975, in Wilmot, SD. Together they lived in Bloomington, MN. They were blessed with a son, Keith, in August of 1978.

1980 saw a move to Rapid City, SD and a change in careers, becoming an award winning sales representative for a major Sioux Falls oil company. A transfer back to eastern South Dakota in 1987 brought them home to Wilmot and eventually another career change to insurance sales.

For several years, Pat owned his own company hauling freight under the name “Sundown Trucking.” Later he moved on to owning a small parts company and working with road construction. At the time of his death he was self employed as a welder and in iron salvage, working on a part time basis due to health reasons.

Patrick is survived by his wife, Pamela of Wilmot, SD; one son: Keith and wife Brandi Haubris of Wilmot, SD; four grandsons: Scott, Gavin, Kaden, and Kolby; two brothers: William and wife Sandy Haubris of Peever, SD and Michael and wife Nora Haubris of Spicer, MN.

Violet Scheef

Violet Scheef was received into God’s Kingdom of Glory on August 13, 2009, at the age of 89 years, 4 months, and 16 days. She died peacefully at Golden Living Center in Milbank.

Funeral services will be Monday, August 17th at 10:30 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank. Rev. Keith Bicknase will officiate and burial will be in the Milbank Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday at Mundwiler Funeral Home from 5 – 8 p.m. and continue at the church Monday morning, one hour prior to the service. The organist will be Sylvia Konstant. Honorary bearers will be Violet’s grandchildren and great grandchildren. Casket bearers will be: Gene Wellnitz, Harvey Wellnitz, Loren Ebsen, Merlyn Ebsen, Gary Ebsen, and Byron Ebsen.

Violet Scheef was born March 28, 1920, at Albee, SD. She was the daughter of William and Minnie (Wellnitz) Ebsen. She was received into God’s Kingdom of Grace by Holy Baptism on May 2, 1920, at St. Paul’s LutheranChurch, Albee, SD by Pastor H. Nitschke. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on September 9, 1934, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church by Pastor Geo Walz.

Violet was united in marriage with Joseph Scheef on June 15, 1941, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Albee. Following their marriage, the couple resided in Milbank. Joseph died on September 4, 1984.

In 1955, Violet began a career with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company as a House Service Attendant. She retired in 1983. She also completed the GED course to get her high school certificate on March 15, 1974.

Violet was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church and taught as a Sunday School teacher, belonged to the ladies’ circle, helped with the mission sewing and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and CWA Communications Workers of America. Her greatest joy in life was her family and going to church every Sunday.

Violet is survived by two daughters: Beverly and Stan Schaefer of New Hope, MN and Shirley and Ron Lundborg of Milbank; two grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one brother: Melvin and Elaine Ebsen of Revillo, SD.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; parents, one brother, Ervin; and one grandson Stanley Schaefer, III.

Monica Ann Collins

Mrs. Monica Collins, age 85 of Milbank, formerly of Revillo, died August 8th at Milbank Area Hospital - Avera Health. She was the widow of Lloyd Collins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, August 13th at 10:30 a.m. at Annunciation Catholic Church in Revillo.

Visitation will be Wednesday at the church beginning at 5 p.m. followed by a scripture and rosary service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Thursday morning, one hour prior to the Mass.

The organist will be Milly Roggenbuck and Paula Pillatzki will be the vocalist. The lector will be Jerry Roggenbuck. Honorary bearers will be her eight children and spouses: James and Donna Collins, Judy Peterson, John Collins, Thomas and Trnnis Collins, Ron and Janet Collins, Dennis and Lorraine Collins, Bruce and Linda Collins, and Mary and Tom Parquet. Casket bearers will be grandchildren: Todd Collins, Tina Bradberry, Kristi Parquet, Adam Collins, Troy Collins, and Mike Collins.

Monica Ann (Roggenbuck) Collins was born April 2, 1924, in Lac Qui Parle County, MN. She was the daughter of John and Mary (Karels) Roggenbuck. She lived on that farm until 1929, then moved with her family to a farm near Albee, SD. She attended rural school at Vernon # 5 in Grant County through the eighth grade. Monica graduated from Revillo High School in 1941. She worked as a waitress at the Eagle Café in Ortonville, MN.

Monica was united in marriage with Lloyd Collins at the Army Chapel, Camp White, Oregon. They lived in Medford, OR until the Army sent Lloyd overseas. Monica returned to Revillo and waited for Lloyd’s discharge in 1945.

Together, Monica and Lloyd farmed near Revillo and raised their family of eight children. Lloyd passed away in 2000, and Monica continued to reside on the farm with her son, John. She moved to Milbank, SD in 2006, and became a resident of St. William’s Care Center in 2008.

Monica loved flowers and rock gardens. She enjoyed weeding her garden, jigsaw puzzles, and playing bingo. Her family will treasure the many poems that she wrote.

Monica Collins is survived by her eight children: James and Donna (Limberg) Collins of Revillo, SD; Judy Peterson of Cambridge, MN; John Collins of Revillo, SD; Thomas and Trnnis (Switzenberg) Collins of Hayti, SD; Ron and Janet (Engels) Collins of Revillo, SD; Dennis and Lorraine (Engebretson) Collins of Stockholm, SD; Bruce and Linda (Keller) Collins of Fargo, ND; Mary and Tom Parquet of Midland, SD; 18 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; three brothers: Daniel and Mildred Roggenbuck of San Diego, CA; John and Milly Roggenbuck of Revillo, SD; Myron and Phyllis Roggenbuck of Revillo, SD; two sisters: Margaret Cronin of Revillo, SD and Rosalie Roggenbuck of Buffalo Grove, IL; one sister-in-law: Betty and Bud Wientjes of Mobridge,SD;one brother-in-law: John Smith of California; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents,her husband, Lloyd; and one son-in-law: Tom Peterson.

Ed Kromrey

Ed Kromrey, age 69, of Stockholm, SD died August 5th at his residence, following a cancer illness.

A memorial service will be Monday, August 10th at 10:30 a.m. at Tabor Lutheran Church in Strandburg. Rev. Elmer Brinkman will officiate.

Visitation will be Sunday at Mundwiler Funeral Home from 4 – 7 p.m. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion, Stockholm-Strandburg Post# 171.

Music will be provided by Paul Peterson, vocalist; Verla Peterson, accompanist; and Taylor Lauritsen, flutist. Bearers will be Sonny Dahlgren, Jeff Enquist, Warren Berg, Al Robish, David Clayton, and Dan Kromrey. Honorary bearers will be his grandchildren, step grandchildren, and all his many friends.

Eddie Earl Kromrey was born April 20, 1940, in Bottineau, ND. He was the son of Dan and Alvera (Perry) Kromrey. He graduated from Kramer High School in 1958, and completed meat cutting school. Ed served in the United States Army, enlisting on June 27, 1958. He was stationed at Fort Lewis, WA and was honorably discharged on August 13, 1962. He was united in marriage in 1962, with Margaret Thomas. They lived in Lovell, WY, Puyallup, WA and Bottineau, ND. Ed worked in Wyoming and Washington as a meat cutter. He owned and operated Tommy’s Café in Bottineau, ND until becoming a rural mail carrier and moved to South Dakota. He was united in marriage with Susan Carlson on January 9, 2009.

Ed enjoyed trap shooting, hunting, fishing, and ran a trap line. He was involved in a bowling league, enjoyed karate, and Harley Davidson Motorcyles.

Ed Kromrey is survived by his wife, Susan of Stockholm; one daughter: Tama Kromrey and companion David Clayton of Minot, ND; one son: Shane Kromrey of Everett, WA; two grandson: Benjamin Clayton of Minot, ND and Tyler Kromrey of Auburn, CA;two step children: Mary and husband Mike Lauritsen of Summit, SD and David and wife Penny Cardwell of Summit, SD; six step grandchildren: Chelsea, Taylor, Erin and Noah Lauritsen; Jason and Kiara Cardwell, all of Summit, SD; one brother: Robert and wife Barbara Kromrey of Minot, ND; one aunt: Ardith Lautenschlager of Rapid City, SD; many cousins and nieces, one nephew, as well as many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a step-son: Steven Cardwell and a step-grandson: Joseph Lauritsen.

Rosamund Crawford

Rosamund Crawford, age 93 of Milbank died August 3rd at Golden Living Center in Milbank.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, August 6th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Father Ken Lulf will officiate and burial will be in the St. Lawrence Cemetery. There will not be any viewing. Music will be provided by Sandy Tucholke, organist and the St. Lawrence Funeral Choir.

Rosamund Alice (Giessinger) Crawford was born July 30, 1916, in Milbank, SD. She was the daughter of Andrew and Anna (Priesinger) Giessinger. She attended St. Lawrence Catholic School and graduated from Milbank High School in 1935. She moved to Minneapolis, MN and worked as a sales person. She was united in marriage on October 17, 1947, with Alvah Crawford in Milbank.

The couple lived in Minneapolis until moving to Aberdeen, SD in 1955. They moved to Milbank in 1987. Alvah died in 1993.

Rose was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and an honorary member of Zanta in Aberdeen.

Rosamund was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers: Edward, Paul, Andrew and Lyle; and three sisters: Helen, Cecelia, and Loretta. She was also preceded in death by her husband: Alvah; one daughter: Linda and two grandchildren: Scott Jennings of Aberdeen, SD and Theresa Crawford of Minneapolis, MN.

Survivors include her children: Rosanne Woolery of Barefoot Bay, FL; Harold Crawford of Gutenberg, NJ; James Crawford of Brooklyn Park, MN; Annette Mills of St. James City, FL; Steve Crawford of St. Peters, MO; 17 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; one sister: Lillian and husband Bernard Weatherholt of Louisville, KY.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be given to:
