Adeline E. Erickson

Adeline E. Erickson, age 95, of Sun City, California; formerly of the Summit area died February 1st at the Menifee Medical Center in Sun City.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Adeline E. Erickson is survived by one sister, Mrs. Violet Uhden of Milbank.

Dean K. Ammann

Dean K. Ammann, age 57 of Wilmot died January 28th at his residence.

Funeral services will be Friday, February 1st at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Wilmot. Rev. DeVern Schwenn will officiate and burial will be in the Wilmot Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday at Mundwiler Faith Chapel, Wilmot, from 4 – 7 p.m. and continue at the church on Friday, one hour prior to the service.

The organist will be Neoma Ballhagen. Casket bearers will be: Ryan Ammann, Phillip Ammann, Darren Strasser, Travis Strasser, Allyn Ammann, and Kevin Ammann.

Dean Keith Ammann was born January 7, 1951, in Browns Valley, MN. He was the son of Clifford C. and Vernafay (Tempel) Ammann. He attended school in Wilmot and completed the requirements to achieve the level of Certified Welder from a technical school in Council Bluffs, IA. He farmed and ranched on the family farm for many years with his father. He worked various jobs in the area and most recently was employed as a welder for Superior Homes in Watertown. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wilmot and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Dean Ammann is survived by three brothers and sisters-in-law: Wayne and Carolyn Ammann; Merlyn and Sharon Ammann; and Rick and Shelly Ammann; all of Wilmot, SD; one sister and brother-in-law: Vernette and Delton Strasser of Wilmot, SD and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Richard Carlin

Richard Carlin, age 60, of Watertown, SD died January 22nd at Golden Living Center in Milbank.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, January 26th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank. Father Ken Lulf will officiate and burial will be in the St. Lawrence Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday at Mundwiler Funeral Home beginning at 5 p.m. followed by a scripture and rosary service at 7 p.m.Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the Mass on Saturday.

Honorary bearers will be “All his friends and relatives.” Casket bearers will be: Donnie Wellnitz, Dennis Jones, Dale Adelman, Adrian Adelman, Kenny Adelman, Wayne Ehlebracht, Victor McFarland, Jerry Ehlebracht, Bill Schwandt, Marlin Reynen.

Music will be provided by Sandy Tucholke, organist; the St. Lawrence Funeral Choir; and Larry Tietjen, vocalist. Tim Mundwiler will be the vocalist at the evening prayer service.

Richard Edward Carlin was born September 20, 1947, in Milbank, SD. He was the son of Edward William and Delores Mavis (Dornbusch) Carlin. He attended school in Stockholm, SD. He was united in marriage on August 26, 1967, with Rose Marie Marohl.

Richard worked as a semi-truck driver for many years and also worked for Henrich and Sons as a concrete worker. He loved horses, guns, and working on cars. His trucking CB handle was “the South Dakota Irishman.” He enjoyed and loved his grandchildren.

Richard Carlin is survived by his five children: Rebecca Horn of Omaha, NE; Daniel Carlin of Jacksonville, NC; Jeffrey and wife Shawna Carlin of Milbank, SD; Angela Carlin and fiancé Jeremy Johnson, of Milbank, SD; and Michelle Carlin of Milbank, SD; 11 grandchildren; one sister, Cheryl Veen of Milbank, SD; and a special friend, Carol Seidell of Watertown, SD.

Dorothy M. Huff

Mrs. Dorothy Huff, age 85 of Wilmot died December 20th at her residence.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, December 26th at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Wilmot. Rev. DeVern Schwenn will officiate.

Music will be provided by Neoma Ballhagen, organist and great granddaughter, Jenny Spurlin, vocalist. Honorary bearers will be all Dorothy’s grandchildren.

Dorothy Mae (Blood) Huff was born March 23, 1922, in Summit, SD. She was the daughter of Victor and Erma (Crooks) Blood. She attended country school. She was united in marriage on October 3, 1940, in Ortonville, MN with George Huff.

Dorothy and George lived in Hoquiam, WA from 1943 – 1945, then again from 1952-1954.They moved to Wilmot in 1954, and have since resided. George died July 20, 2004.

Dorothy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wilmot.

Dorothy Huff is survived by her five children: Jim and wife Sandra Huff of Detroit Lakes, MN; Joanne Tchida of Sioux Falls, SD; Georgia and husband Don Halloff of Bloomington, MN; Lawren Huff of Wilmot, SD; and Roger and wife Elaine Huff of Aberdeen, SD; 17 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; one brother: Wally Blood of Soderville, MN and one sister-in-law: Joyce Blood of Grandview, KS; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; one son, Jack; and one granddaughter, Dawn.

JoAnn Tschakert

JoAnn, Mrs. LaVerne Tschakert, age 44 of Milbank died December 15th at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 19th at 10:30 a.m. at American Lutheran Church in Milbank. Rev. Craig Werling and Rev. Janine Rew Werling will officiate. A family sharing will be given by Rev. Joyce Capp. Burial will be in the Osceola #2 Cemetery in Marvin.

Visitation will be Tuesday at Mundwiler Funeral Home beginning at 4 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 8 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church Wednesday morning, one hour prior to the service.

Honorary bearers will be the staff of Gesswein Motors. Casket bearers will be: Wayne Green, Wes Green, Brian Green, Dale Johnson, Lynn Capp, Daron Zemlicka, Josh Kelly, Blake Beard, and Allen Capp.

Music will be provided by Gail Selgeby, organist, Deb Rausch, vocalist and a vocal duet by Mark Boerger and Sherry DeBoer.

JoAnn Marie Tschakert was born November 9, 1963, in Milbank, SD. She was the daughter of Robert and Susan (Johnson) Capp. She graduated from Milbank High School in 1982.She was united in marriage on August 27, 1983, with LaVerne Tschakert at the American Lutheran Church in Milbank.

JoAnn worked at various places in Milbank including United Hardware and was most recently a title clerk for Gesswein Motors. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church. She helped form and was secretary of the Milbank Archery Club. She was involved with the Twin Brooks Threshing Show for a number of years. Family was very important to her and she took great delight in her nieces and nephews. She was always willing to baby sit. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, quilting, and playing cards. She always found mowing to be relaxing.

JoAnn Tschakert is survived by her husband, LaVerne of Milbank; two sons: Matthew Tschakert and Andrew Tschakert and special friend, Ashley Hill, all of Milbank, SD; her parents, Robert and Susan Capp of Milbank, SD; her mother-in-law: Iona Tschakert of Florence, SD; two sisters: Cheryl and husband Keith Kelly of Corona, SD; and Peggy and husband Lance Beard of Canton, SD; one brother, LeRoy and wife Kate Capp of Big Stone City, SD; eight sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Joann and husband Ed Wagner of Rapid City, SD; Lyle and wife Betty Tschakert of Florence, SD; Carol Tschakert of Moorhead, MN; Ardelle and husband Doug Fosheim of Huron, SD; Jeanette and husband Robert Mack of Watertown, SD; Frank and wife Sheila Tschakert of Florence, SD; Darlene and husband John Wegner of Westerville, OH; and Delbert and wife Kay Tschakert of Florence, SD; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, grandparents, two uncles, and one cousin.

Colette Weyh

Colette (Mrs. Lawrence) Weyh, age 65, of Waubay, SD died December 8th at her residence.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, December 12th at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in Waubay. Father John McMullen will officiate and burial will be in the Waubay Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank from 5 - 8 p.m.; Tuesday at the Immaculate Conception Church in Waubay from 5 - 7 p.m., with a scripture service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Wednesday morning at the church, one hour prior to the Mass.

Casket bearers will be: Dave Murphy, Joe Murphy, Bob Murphy, Ed Meyer, David Ewalt, and James Gisi. Honorary bearers will be the former and present employees of the Wilmot Community Home/Wilmot Care Center. The organist will be JoAnn Herr.

Colette Mary (Murphy) Weyh was born January 30, 1942, in Webster, SD. She was the daughter of Frank and Gertrude (Becking) Murphy. She graduated from St. Francis Academy in 1960. Colette entered the Sisters of St. Francis in 1960, and after fulfilling her years of temporary vows she attended St. Francis School of Nursing in La Crosse, WI. She worked at the University of Minnesota in Medical Intensive Care prior to her marriage to Lawrence Weyh in 1968. Colette worked as the school nurse for the Waubay School District from 1975-1982. She was the Director of Nursing at the Wilmot Community Home from 1982-2001, and remained a staff nurse there until the present time. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Waubay.

Colette Weyh is survived by her husband: Lawrence of Waubay, SD; one daughter: Kathy and husband Bill Jurgens of Milbank, SD; three sons: Andy and wife Terri of Astoria, SD; John and wife Misty of Milbank, SD and Curtis and wife Cindy of Homer, NE; 8 grandchildren, one brother, Francis Murphy of Milbank, SD and three sisters: Maureen Rysso of Grayling, MI; Dorothy Meyer of Wilmot, SD and Sister Pat Murphy of Aberdeen, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother (Bob Murphy) one infant, and three grandchildren.

Evelyn M. VanHoorn

Evelyn VanHoorn, age 85, of Milbank died December 7th at St. William's Care Center in Milbank.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, December 10th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Father Ken Lulf will officiate and burial will be in the St. Charles Catholic Cemetery in Big Stone City.

Visitation will be Sunday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church beginning at 5 p.m. followed by a scripture and rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday, one hour prior to the Mass.

Casket bearers will be her sons: Richard, Ronald, James, Fred, John, and Joe Van Hoorn. Music will be provided by Nancy Johnson, organist and the St. Lawrence Funeral Choir.

Evelyn Mary VanHoorn was born March 7, 1922, in Chamberlain, SD. She was the daughter of Phillip and Eva (Martin) DeGreef. She moved with her family to Roberts County when she was seven years old. She graduated from Wilmot High School in 1940. She was united in marriage on September 9, 1940, with Siebe E. VanHoorn in Rock Rapids, Iowa.

Evelyn and Siebe farmed together in Roberts County for 39 years. She also worked at the Lantern Motel and in the kitchen at the Milbank hospital. She cleaned at the Milbank Mall for eleven years. She was a faithful member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, a member of the Catholic Daughters, the All Saints Band, and the Altar Society. She was also a member of the Geneseo Gals. Siebe died October 19, 1999. Evelyn will be remembered as a hard working woman and a devoted mother of eleven children.

Evelyn VanHoorn is survived five daughters: Geraldine Martell of Castlewood, SD; Norma and husband Larry Peters of Milbank, SD; Susan and husband Jack Hippen of Milbank, SD; Eileen and husband Rich Olson of Mandan, ND; and Patty and husband Brian Hill of Springfield, MO; six sons: Richard and wife Doris of Amarillo, TX; Ronald and wife Cheryl of Milbank, SD; James and wife Dorothy of Estelline, SD; Fred and wife Phyllis of Milbank, SD; John of Milbank, SD and Joe and wife Barb of Waconia, MN; 39 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren; one brother, Robert DeGreef of Renner, SD; and two sisters-in-law: Rachael Amsden and Helen Selchert, both of Milbank, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother.

Sherry Ann Spanton

Mrs. Alvin (Sherry) Spanton, age 53 of Milbank died November 25th at her residence.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, November 28th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank. Father Ken Lulf will officiate and burial will be in the St. Lawrence Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday beginning at 5 p.m. followed by a scripture and rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Wednesday morning, one hour prior to the Mass.

Honorary bearers will be Sherry's co-workers at State Auto Insurance Company. Casket bearers will be her brothers and brothers-in-law: Jim Giossi, Bruce Giossi, Allan Giossi, Gene Giossi, Steve Schull, and Mike Johnson.

Music will be provided by Nancy Johnson and the St. Lawrence Funeral Choir.

Sherry Ann (Giossi) Spanton was born July 19, 1954, in Milbank, SD. She was the daughter of Raymond and Betty Ann (Hinders) Giossi. She attended school in Milbank. She was united in marriage on October 21, 1978, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with Alvin Lee Spanton.

Sherry was a life long resident of Milbank. She was employed as a file clerk for State Auto Insurance for thirty years. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. She enjoyed her coffee group. She loved camping, reading, and cross-stitching. She enjoyed playing. She found joy and pride in her grandchildren and could never say "no" to them.

Christmas was her favorite holiday.

Sherry Spanton is survived by her husband, Alvin of Milbank, SD; three children: Tonya and husband Rick Klueber of Sioux Falls, SD; Ryan Spanton of Milbank, SD; and Amy and husband Nick Karsky of Milbank, SD; 9 grandchildren; her mother, Betty Giossi of Milbank, SD; eight brothers and sisters: Dorothy and husband Norval Drewelow of Clinton, MN; Gene Giossi of Milbank, SD; Allan Giossi of Ohio; Jim and wife Karen Giossi of Milbank, SD; Cindy and husband Harlen Jorgenson of Ortonville, MN; Susan and husband Mike Johnson of Milbank, SD; Kathy and husband Doug Winter of Clear Lake, SD; Bruce and wife June Giossi of Milbank, SD.

She was preceded in death by her father Raymond; one brother Kenneth; one grandson Issac; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law Alvin, Sr. and Hazel Spanton.

Charles L. Jones

Charles Jones, age 89, of Ortonville died November 22nd at North Ridge Residence in Ortonville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, December 1st at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ortonville. Father Bob Goblirsch will officiate and burial will be in the Mound Cemetery in Ortonville.

Visitation will be Friday at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank from 4 – 7 p.m. and continue at the church Saturday morning, one hour prior to the Mass.

Honorary bearers will be Earl Holgerson, Herb Thomas, Paul Schuelke, and the American Legion, Gertje Van LithPost #229.Casket bearers will be: Jim Hoxtell, Richard Janke, Chuck Bartz, Gerald Adelman, William Cliffton, and Matt Karels. Music will be provided by Pat Kunz, organist and the St. John’s Choir. Military honors will be presented by the American Legion, Birch-Miller Post #229.

Charles L. Jones was born May 26, 1918,on the family farm in Big Stone County, MN. He was the son of Charles Jones, Sr. and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Jones. He attended a one room school house in the area along with his ten brothers and sisters. Later, he worked on the family farm until joining the United States Army in 1941, at the start of World War II.He was assigned to the 1st Calvary Division in Fort Hood, Texas. This division was started in 1833, but was short lived as the Army ended this tradition later that year.Charles was then sent to the 29th Division, 1st Army Infantry. He soon left for England on the Queen Elizabeth and spent two years there. He joined with members of the “Blue and Grey” 29th Division on June 6, 1944, Omaha Beach Invasion at Normandy, France. He was injured in France, taken to hospitals in England and then to Percy Jones Hospital in Michigan for recovery. He was awarded many military honors including the Purple Heart for his service. He was honorably discharged on July 28, 1045, at Fort Custer, MI.

On return to civilian life, he met and married Marilyn Ebert. They were married by Father George Campbell at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ortonville on Christmas Eve in 1945.They were blessed with four children: Mary, Michael, Gerald and Allen (the youngest two died shortly after birth). Charles lived in Ortonville most of his life, with the exception of military service and a short time in Slinger, WI. He attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis, MN for mechanics and worked a number of years at the Chevy garage in Ortonville. For two years, he owned his own auto repair shop on First Street.His last employment was with the Big Stone County Shop as a mechanic and a heavy equipment operator, the last year as foreman. His wife Marilyn died of heart disease in the spring on 1975. He later married Liz Yilek of Ortonville. They spent 25 years together working on their home, gardening, dancing, and fishing. She died of cancer in December of 2000, with Charlie at her bedside.

Charles loved horses. He raised, trained, and showed horses for many years and could be seen around town wearing his cowboy hat. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, V.F.W., and the American Legion. He ushered and helped with funerals at St. John’s Church for many years after his retirement and delivered Meals on Wheels. In his later years he did not want to travel outside of his Ortonville area. He spent many hours visiting and drinking coffee with his friends and the staff at Hilltop Café. He moved to Northridge Residence on August 30, 2007.

Charles Jones is survived by one daughter, Mary and husband Fred Lehmann of Beldenville, WI; one son, Michael and wife Tammy Jones of Hayden, CO; five grandchildren: Shannon (Murray) Anderson, Shana (Jeff) Corbo, Chad (Amanda) Jones, Marjorie Jones, Dustin Jones, four great grandchildren: Piper Jo Jones, Samantha Riley Anderson, Seban Charles Jones, and Max Byrne (Corbo); one sister, Fern Marohl of Ortonville; and many other relatives and friends, especially his “Hilltop family” – staff and coffee buddies.

Memorials may be given to Rice Hospice, Willmar, MN, in care of the Rice Memorial Hospital.

Adelaide Dolen Hansen

Adelaide Dolen Hansen, age 91 of Watertown; a former Stockholm resident died November 8th at Stoney Brook Suites in Watertown.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, November 12th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank. Father Ken Lulf and Father John Lantsberger will officiate and burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Stockholm.

Visitation will be Sunday at Mundwiler Funeral Home from 4 - 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday, one hour prior to the Mass.

Music will be provided by Sandy Tucholke, organist, Donna Dolen, vocalist and the St. Lawrence Funeral Choir. Casket bearers will be her sons: James Dolen, Duane Dolen, Keith Dolen, Steven Hansen, Stanley Hansen, Darwin Hansen, and Kevin Hansen. Honorary bearers will be: Katherine Nelson, Helga Larsen, Marlys Larsen, and all Adelaide’s care-givers.

Adelaide Anna DeClercq was born July 9, 1916, at George, Iowa. She was the daughter of Henri and Flavia (Sans) DeClercq. She moved with her family to Milbank, SD in 1923, and attended St. Lawrence School. She worked for the W.P. A. from 1935-1940.She was united in marriage on August 18, 1942, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with Marvin Dolen.

Adelaide and Marvin farmed together near LaBolt, SD. Marvin died in April of 1957, and Adelaide moved into Milbank in the fall of that year. She later married Walter Hansen on July 12, 1960, in Ortonville, MN. Adelaide and Walter farmed together near Stockholm, SD. They celebrated 38 years of marriage together until Walter’s death on November 14, 1998.

Adelaide was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church since she was eight years old. She was a member of the Stockholm-Strandburg American Legion Auxiliary and was a charter member of the Harmony Homemakers Extension Club. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing. One of her greatest delights was to “brag about her seven boys!”

Adelaide Dolen Hansen is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law: James and Becky Dolen of Montevideo, MN; Duane and Donna Dolen of South Shore, SD; Keith and Susan Dolen of Watertown, SD; four step-sons and step-daughters-in-law: Steven and Barbara Hansen of El Cajon, CA; Stanley and Pat Hansen of Rapid City, SD; Darwin and Janis Hansen of Rathdrum, Idaho; and Kevin and Isaura Hansen of Colorado Springs, CO; 19 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, seven brothers, and one sister.

Pearl Smeins Steege

Pearl Smeins Steege, age 91, of Milbank died November 5th at Golden Living Center in Milbank.

Funeral services will be Thursday, November 8th at 2:30 p.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank. Rev. James Wiese will officiate and burial will be in the Garfield Lutheran Cemetery, Roberts County, SD.

Visitation will be Wednesday at Mundwiler Funeral Home from 5 – 7 p.m. and continue at the church on Thursday, one hour prior to the services.

Casket bearers will be Michael Wallner, Darwin Minder, Steven Minder, David Minder, Larry Reil, and David Reil. The organist will be Roger Goosen.

Pearl was born January 5, 1916.She was the daughter of Godfred and Rose (Minder) Oppliger. She grew up in the Wilmot area and attended rural school. She was united in marriage with Sibrant William Smeins. They farmed together in the Wilmot area. They retired and moved into Milbank. She was later united in marriage with Willard Steege. They lived near Corona on his farm, then later in Milbank. She was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank. She loved flowers and enjoyed gardening. She moved to Park Place Assisted Living and resided there about four years, then moved into Golden Living Center where she resided until her death.

Pearl Smeins Steege is survived by one daughter, Jean Wallner of Waukesha, WI; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one sister, Ellen Jurgens of Wilmot; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and one sister.

Thomas F. Cronin

Thomas Francis Cronin passed away at the age of 69, Friday Nov. 2nd at his home after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, Nov. 8th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank. Father Ken Lulf and Father Tony Imberi will officiate and burial will be in the St. Lawrence Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday at Heritage Funeral Home in Sioux Falls from 5 - 8 p.m. and on Wednesday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank, beginning at 5:00 p.m. followed by a scripture and rosary service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Thursday, one hour prior to the Mass.

Casket bearers will be: Joseph Cronin, Bob Cronin, Greg Hansmann, Michael Osberg, Tom Osberg, and Dan Osberg.

Thomas Cronin was born Jan. 15th 1938, to Joseph and Mary (Grimes) Cronin. Tom graduated from Stranburg High School in 1956. In 1961, he started driving truck. In April 1967, he bought his first semi truck. He started his own business (Tom Cronin Trucking) with Midwest Coast, Action Carrier, and Dakota Carriers. At one time Tom owned and operated 14 Peterbuilt trucks and drove in 48 states.

On Nov. 28th 1964, he married Joan M. Hoeltgen in Milbank, SD. From this marriage came two loving children Maria and Jason. In 1969, they moved to Sioux Falls, SD where Tom continued to drive truck and operate his business. He sold his shop and last truck in 2006. Tom enjoyed telling trucking stories and working with his son Jason. He was a very proud grandfather whom enjoyed spending much of his time with Maria, Scott and their children, Payton and Sadie.

Tom is survived by his wife Joan, and 2 children daughter Maria (Scott) Egan, son Jason Cronin and Jessie Dant, and two grandchildren Payton and Sadie Egan all of Sioux Falls. One brother Larry and (Sue) Cronin Minneapolis MN, 4 sisters Francetta (Jack) Gilsdorf Lincoln Neb, Patricia Peters Milbank SD, Kathleen Hansmann Wayzata MN, Colette (Patrick) O'Neill New Hope MN, 1 sister- in law JoAnn Cronin Maple Grove MN, and 1 aunt Margaret Cronin Revillo SD. Numerous nephews and nieces.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Mary, 2 brothers Joseph and David, mother-in-law Nina Hoeltgen, father- in law Charles Hoeltgen, 4 brother- in laws Jack Hoeltgen, Jim Peters, Ron Hansmann, Jim Osberg, and 1 nephew Troy Cronin.

Evelyn Lounsbery

Evelyn Lounsbery, age 89, of Milbank, formerly of Revillo died November 4th at the Milbank Area Hospital - Avera Health.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 6th at 2:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Revillo. Rev. Kim Kanitz will officiate and burial will be in the Revillo Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday at Mundwiler Funeral Home from 4 – 7 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday, one hour prior to the service.

The organist will be Nancy Meyer. Honorary bearers will be her granddaughters: Jill Gustafson, Gina Kontz, Susan Lounsbery, Heidi Schiefelbein, April Johnson, Heather Schmidt, Amber Olson, Cydney Spalding and Laura Spalding. Casket bearers will be grandsons: Grant Street, Jason Street, Todd Lounsbery, Matthew Lounsbery, Jeffrey Lounsbery, and Clint Schiefelbein.

Evelyn Willhemina Jeanette Lounsbery was born July 3, 1918.She was the daughter of Cleo and Caroline (Musch) Hunt. She attended elementary school in Moritz, SD and graduated from Dr. Martin Luther High School in New Ulm, MN. She achieved her teacher’s certificate from Dr. Martin Luther College, also in New Ulm. She taught school a few years at Brownton, MN, prior to her marriage. She was united in marriage on August 29, 1941, with Clifford Charles Lounsbery.

The couple farmed together on the family farm near Revillo until 1976, then moved into Milbank. Evelyn was a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Revillo and was active with the ladies aid. She was a devoted Sunday School teacher for many years. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed her gardens of vegetables and flowers. Her husband died June 6, 2002, and Evelyn moved into Park Place Assisted Living in November of that year. She moved to Golden Living Center in 2006, where she resided until her death.

Evelyn Lounsbery is survived by her six children: Carol and husband Orman Street of Marietta, MN; Rebecca and husband Mike Schiefelbein of Clear Lake, SD; Susan and husband Greg Kontz of Dickinson, ND; Richard and wife Linda Lounsbery of Revillo, SD; Alan and wife Sharon Lounsbery of Revillo, SD; Mark and wife Kay Lounsbery of Revillo, SD; 19 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and one sister-in-law: Cordus Brownson Behrend of Brookings, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, and two sisters.
