Edmund “Ed” Schultz Jr. was born February 26, 1932 in Wabasso, MN to Edmund Sr. and Florence (Brix) Schultz. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Wabasso. Ed attended Wabasso Public Schools. In January 1952, Ed joined the US Navy serving on a ship during the Korean War. On April 3, 1952, Ed was united in marriage to Arlene Poulsen in Morgan, MN. Ed received his honorable discharge from the service in December 1956. He then returned to the Redwood Area where he farmed from 1957 until his retirement in 1985. Ed continued living on the farm and helping with the farming duties. Ed loved baseball. In his earlier years, he was a pitcher for the Navy team. He continued playing town team baseball and later fast pitch softball around the area. Ed was a member of the Wabasso American Legion. He enjoyed bowling with his buddies and spending time with his family. He especially loved going to the grandkids’ sporting events. We also enjoyed visiting with friends and family, going to the lake home, fishing, hunting, and watching sports.
