Milton L. Johnson

Milton L. Johnson, 91, of Centerville/Hub City Community, SD, died Thursday, April 10, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, April 14, 2008, at Dalesburg Lutheran Church, rural Vermillion. Burial will be in Dalesburg Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., on Sunday, April 13, 2008, at the church, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.

Milton Johnson was born March 6, 1917 in Clay County, SD, the son of Carl and Bertha (Larsen) Johnson. He attended Dalesburg Country School and Vermillion High School. He was a child of the "Dirty Thirties" and he began farming as a child with horses. He farmed with his brother, Roy, as Johnson Brothers in cattle feeding and grain farming. In 1986, he and his late brother received the Clay County Livestock Feeders of the Year Award. He enjoyed cattle feeding! He lived on the farm until his death.

He was active in his church, Dalesburg Lutheran Church, and other organizations in the Dalesburg/Hub City Community. He was a supporter of advocacy groups for South Dakota corn and soybeans.

He married Virginia Soderman on January 12, 1950 in Yankton and they had one son, Ron. The couple farmed in Clay County their entire married life.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia; a son, Ron; his sister, Helen Green of Minneapolis, MN; his nephews, Gordon Johnson, Doug Green and Steve Green; his nieces, LeAnne Austin and Carol Carlsen; and other relatives and friends.

Jeanne Elizabeth Fullenkamp

Jeanne Elizabeth Fullenkamp, 64, of Yankton, SD died Monday, April 14, 2008 at her home.

Jeanne was born September 1, 1943 in Vermillion, the daughter of Myron S. and Kathleen (Snyder) Iverson. She graduated from Vermillion High School, received her BA in 1977 from Buena Vista University, and her MA from the University of South Dakota in 1981. She was employed by the City of Sioux Falls in the Libraires/Human Resources Department for 18 years when she retired in 2003.

She married Bob Fullenkamp on September 21, 1963 in Vermillion. They lived in Sioux Falls from 1980 to 2006 when they moved to Yankton. She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church.

Jeanne is survived by her husband, Bob of Yankton; a daughter, Elizabeth Fullenkamp of Yankton; three sons, Patrick Fullenkamp and his fiance, Melany Weinstine of Omaha, Nebr., Connel Fullenkamp (Karen Romines) of Durham, NC, and Quinn (Lisa) Fullenkamp of Waunakee, WI; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clark Iverson & Donna Piazza of Minneapolis, MN, Scott (Julia) Iverson of Vermillion; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Kay Kohles-Baker and Buck Baker of Damascus, OR; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jon (Candice) Fullenkamp of Mission Viajo, CA; grandsons, Tyson Fullenkamp of Phoenix, AZ, Sigfried and Thilo Fullenkamp of Durham, NC; granddaughters, Emma and Chloe Fullenkamp of Waunakee, WI, and Minna Fullenkamp of Durham, NC; 8 nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 6 to 7 p.m., Thursday, April 17, 2008 at the church with the prayer service begining at 7 p.m. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 18, 2008 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Yankton with Fr. Ken Bain officiating. Burial will be at Bluff View Cemetery, Vermillion.

L.W. "Bill" Rasmussen

L.W. "Bill" Rasmussen, 92, of Vermillion, died Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at Sanford Vermillion Care Center.

He was born February 12, 1916 in Lincoln, County to August and Martha (Engel) Rasmussen. He graduated from Beresford High School in 1935. He worked at Fruen Elevator in Beresford and then managed the Farmers Elevator in Vermillion for 48 years, retiring in 1994. He belonged to Senior Citizens, the VFW and the Eagles in Vermillion. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Vermillion. He was in the Army during WWII and spent time in the Philippines. He married Marjorie Thorson in December of 1940 in Beresford. Marjorie died January 15, 2008.

He was an avid sportsman, enjoging Jr. Legion basemball, hunting, fishing, bowling, horseshoe pitching and golfing. He also liked to follow USD Coyote football and basketball, Vermillion High School sports, the Minnesota Twins and Vikings and the Atlanta Braves.

He is survived by three sons, Dennis (Beverly Ann) of Bluffton, SC, Gene (Susan) and Craig (Katherine), both of Vermillion; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; a sister, Mildred Wevik of Beresford; and a brother, "Skee" of White River.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 21, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Vermillion, with Rev. Ed. Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Bluff View Cemetery, Vermillion with military graveside services conducted by the Vermillion VFW Clay Co. Post #3061. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday.

LeRoy Laverne Burton

LeRoy Laverne Burton, 78, of Oregon, Missouri, formerly of Meckling, South Dakota, passed away on April 18, 2008 in St. Joseph, Missouri. He was born on September 12, 1929 in Meckling, South Dakota, one of six children of Buel and Myrtle (Kaeberle) Burton.

He married Donna L. Dennison on October 17, 1948. They became parents of seven sons. Donna passed away on April 17, 1990.

LeRoy lived and farmed in the Meckling, South Dakota area until 1957. He then moved to LaHabra, California where he worked and later managed a service station until 1967. The Burton family moved to St. Joseph, Missouri and later to the Oregon and Maitland area. LeRoy worked in the fertilizer and propane delivery business until his retirement.

He enjoyed traveling to South Dakota to visit family, and having his children and grandchildren around.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna; two sons, Bradley and Robert; brother, Harold; and one great grandchild Arik Lee Harper.

He is survived by his sons, Michael of Moberly, Missouri, David of Maitland, Missouri, Roger (Marta) of Oregon, Missouri, Lyle (Rosanna) of Murry, Iowa, Gary of Amazonia, Missouri; four sisters, Norma Prouth of Palm Desert, California, Carol Hubert of Vermillion, South Dakota, Diane Finks, Arlington, Virginia and Jeannie (Bill) Barta of Gayville, South Dakota; sister-in-law, Helen Burton of Vermillion, South Dakota; seven grandchildren, Mallory, Travis, and Corey Burton, Michael Burton, Rachel Carroll, Krystal Newton, and Kerrie Burton; four great grandchildren, Brady Burton, Isabella Buck, Elizabeth Harper, and Andrea Jo Rehmeyer; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday April 22, 2008, at Iverson-Siecke-Kober Funeral Home of Vermillion with burial to follow at Bluff View Cemetery. Visitation is on Tuesday April 22, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Francis Eugene Hansen

Francis Eugene Hansen, 81, of Vermillion died Sunday, April 20, 2008 at his residence.

Francis was born January 17, 1927, at Gettysburg, SD, to Joy and Fanny (Harvey) Hansen. He attended school until 9th grade at Bloomingdale rural school near Vermillion. He served in the army in the Korean War from 1950 - 1952. He was a farmer.

He married Leta Hall on January 17, 1964, in Wakonda, SD. He lived in Vermillion/Hub City area for 64 years.

He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W., Alsen Legion, Clay Country Ramblers, charter member, SESD Pheasant Association. He was a member of Wakonda United Methodist Church.

Francis is survived by his wife, Leta of Vermillion; son and daughter-in-law, Brad (Jeanie) of Vermillion; three grandchildren; Sarah Hansen, Brian Hansen, and Brett Hansen; sister, Geraldine (Bob) Clark of Vermillion; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at United Methodist Church in Wakonda with Pastor Andy Bartel officiating. Burial will be in the Bluff View Cemetery with military graveside service conducted by Vermillion V.F.W. Clay Post #3061.

Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday with a 7:00 p.m., prayer service at Iverson-Siecke-Kober Funeral Home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joy and Fanny Hansen, and a brother, Verle Hansen.

Bernard and Margaret Authier

RAPID CITY - A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2000, at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Rapid City for Bernard and Margaret Authier. Interment of their ashes will follow the ceremony.

She died March 29, 1999, and he died Aug. 16, 1999, both at Tucson, Ariz.

Randy M. Gerlach

RAPID CITY - Randy M. Gerlach, 52, Rapid City, died Friday, July 14, 2000, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Lori Gerlach, Rapid City; four sons, Jody Gerlach, Omaha, Neb., Jamie Gerlach, Rapid City, Kyle Gerlach, Flandreau, and Kasey Gerlach, Sioux Falls; stepdaughter, Keshia Svoboda, Rapid City; his mother, Linda Gerlach, Sioux Falls; two sisters, Dana Wittrock, Sioux Falls, and Renea Gerlach, Rapid City; and four grandchildren.

Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. today, July 16, at Rooks & Kirk Chapel of Light and one hour before services at the church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, July 17, at South Canyon Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Bruce Thalacker officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Lawn Memorial Park.

Mattie Haughian

SPEARFISH - Mattie Haughian, 65, Spearfish, formerly of Colstrip, Mont., died Wednesday, July 12, 2000, at Dorsett Health Care Center in Spearfish.

Survivors include four daughters, Cynde Hogdes, Clatskanie, Ore., Mary Holzwarth, Colstrip, Bobbie Haughian, Columbus, Ohio, and Kellye Thompson, Spearfish; and six grandchildren.

A vigil service will begin 7 p.m. Monday, July 17, at St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Church in Colstrip. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, at the church. Burial will be at 4 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery in Miles City, Mont.

Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Forsyth, Mont., is handling arrangements.

Maurice E. 'Bub' Hobus

GETTYSBURG - Memorial services for Maurice E. "Bub" Hobus, 67, Gettysburg, will be at 2 p.m. Monday, July 17, 2000, at United Methodist Church in Gettysburg.

He died at his home on Tuesday, July 11.

Survivors include two daughters, Lauri Hobus and Julie R. Hobus, both of Albuquerque, N.M.; sisters Marla Nold, Gettysburg, and Muriel Nauman of Montana; and 19 nieces and nephews.

Miller Funeral Home of Sioux Falls is in charge of arrangements.

Bonnie Jean 'BJ' Hudson

RAPID CITY - Bonnie Jean "BJ" Hudson, 46, Rapid City, died Friday July 14, 2000, at Rapid City Regional Hospital after a brief illness.

Survivors include her husband, Glenn Hudson, Rapid City; two sons, Robert J. Clayton of Texas and Stephen G. Hudson of Arizona; and a daughter, Shari Hailey, Breunfels, Texas; and two grandchildren.

Services are pending with Behrens Mortuary of Rapid City.

Grace Jocelyn Kaul

RAPID CITY - Grace Jocelyn Kaul was born and died Thursday, July 13, 2000, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

She is survived by her parents, Jason and Stephanie Kaul, and sister Kaelyn, all of Rapid City; grandparents Dave and Kay Kaul, Sturgis, Sharon Kaul, Pierre, and Leland Baldwin, Pierre; and great-grandmother Helen Schweinefus, Jamestown, N.D.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 17, 2000, at Mountain View Cemetery in Rapid City, with the Rev. Bob Ruedebusch officiating.

Rooks & Kirk Funeral Home of Rapid City is in charge of arrangements.

Leota Rose McCartney

SPEARFISH - Leota Rose McCartney, 84, Spearfish, died Saturday, July 15, 2000, at Lookout Memorial Hospital in Spearfish.

She is survived by her husband, John McCartney, Spearfish; son Dennis Carls of New York; daughters Roberta Young, Spearfish, Donnell Shipley, Sturgis, and Carla Carls, Spearfish.

Services are pending with the Carlsen-Jolley Funeral Home in Spearfish.

Loretta 'Peggy' Koth

PIERRE - Loretta 'Peggy' Koth, 86, formerly of Draper, died Friday, July 14, 2000, at Maryhouse Nursing Care Center.

Survivors include one son, Larry Koth, Colome; two daughters, Janice Wang, Rapid City, and Nancy Weller, Arvada, Colo.; three brothers, Donald Louder and Luverne Louder, both of Pierre, and Keith Louder, Rapid City; one sister, Maxine Curtis, Rapid City; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Hofmeister Funeral Chapel in Pierre. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, at Draper Methodist Church, in Draper, with the Rev. Genie Butler officiating. Burial will be at Draper City Cemetery.

Bonnie Jean (B.J.) Hudson

RAPID CITY - Bonnie Jean (B.J.) Hudson, 46, Rapid City, died Friday, July 14, 2000, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Bonnie was born Oct. 6, 1953, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to James O. and Ruth Marie (Perry) Chambliss. A devoted daughter, Bonnie was preceded in death by both parents and her brother.

She is survived by her husband, Glenn Hudson, and her dear Scottie, Skeeter, of Rapid City; sons Robert J. Clayton, Harris County, Texas, and Stephen G. Hudson of Arizona; daughter Shari L. Halley, New Braunfels, Texas; and two grandchildren. She will be remembered fondly by many friends in Texas and South Dakota.

"My wish, to the ones I love so much, is to remember all the good things and not to mourn but celebrate my life." A celebration of her life for friends will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at 518 Columbus St. on Tuesday, July 18. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Behrens Mortuary Chapel in Rapid City, with the Rev. Bruce Baum officiating.

Burial will follow at Pine Lawn Memorial Park in Rapid City.

Roy Anderson

RAPID CITY - Roy Anderson, 94, Rapid City, and formerly of Midland, died Sunday, July 16, 2000, at a local nursing home.

Survivors include one sister, Josephine Linquest, Sioux City, Iowa; and 12 nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are pending with Behrens Mortuary.

Dorothy M. Sorenson

SPEARFISH - Dorothy M. Sorenson, 85, Spearfish, and formerly of Belle Fourche, died Saturday, July 15, 2000, at Lookout Memorial Hospital.

Survivors include three sons, La Moine Sorenson, Warren Sorenson and Lowell Sorenson.

Arrangements are pending with Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche.

Erwine ‘Wyn' Colson

RAPID CITY — Erwine "Wyn" Colson, 78, Rapid City, died Monday, July 17, 2000, at Westhills Village Retirement Community.

She was born Sept. 18, 1921, in Columbus, Ga., to Lewis D. and Bessie (Mason) Hixon. Wyn married Col. William Colson in San Antonio on May 29, 1942. He retired from the Air Force in 1960, and they moved to Rapid City, where they lived thereafter. She was noted for her artistic talents, particularly oil painting and stained glass. She was a very active supporter of Dahl Arts Center.

She is survived by her son, William Colson Jr., and his wife, Tam, Rapid City; her daughters, Deborah McDonald, Rapid City, and Kathleen Colson, San Francisco; one sister, Jackie Daman, Phoenix; and five grandchildren.

A memorial has been established to Westhills Village Foundation or Canyon Lake United Methodist Church in Rapid City.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, at Campbell, Paula & Quinn Funeral Home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 20, at Canyon Lake United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Robert Rudebusch officiating. Burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
