Matthew Thomas Tanner
Died: Sep 22, 2001

Matthew Thomas Tanner was born on March 18, 1998. The only thing I can say about that is that it was one experience that I don’t think I was prepared for but you all know he liked to make an entrance. There were so many things I could think to say about our son. I know he never held a job or moved out on his own but we know that he has made his mark by loving everyone. If I had to say what I thought Matty’s biggest accomplishment was it would have to be that he was and is the strongest person anyone could have ever come into contact with.

Matthew is survived by his parents, Audra Tanner and Jace Arndt, Mark VandenBos, all of Sioux Falls, SD; a brother, Joseph Arndt, Sioux Falls, SD; aunts and uncles, Erika and Troy Hansen, Brian and Joyce Tanner, Jeannelle Arndt, Jeffery Tanner, Melisa and Ken Pearson, and Patrick VandenBos; grandparents, Patti and Leon VandenBos, Jean and Trevor Munce, all of Sioux Falls, SD, Mike and Christine Tanner, Worthing, SD, Tony and Angie Arndt, Valley Springs, SD; great-grandparents, Deloris and Tex Sowell, Hartford, SD, Orville and Adeline VandenBos, Stickney, SD, Harry and Jeanette Huskies, Luverne, MN, Chuck and Betty Tanner, Thelma and John McCorgary, all of Ark City, KS.

Everyone will remember Matthew for his generous smile, his unexpected warmth and caring, and his also famous “Hi”. Matthew has surpassed the goals that any parent would set for their child, and that is for them to be loving, gentle and happy. Matty has all of those qualities and more! He wouldn’t want this to be a time of sadness but more a celebration for he has arrived, and I hope that God is ready because He is gonna have his hands full.
