Justin Pinkelman, age 29, of Lesterville, died at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, on Thursday, October 29, 2009 of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident near Scotland, SD. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM, Monday, November 2, 2009 at Opsahl-Kostel Memorial Chapel, Tabor, with Rev. Paul Opsahl officiating.

Justin was born on May 14, 1980 to Reinold and Bernadine (Lutz) Pinkelman in Yankton, SD. He was employed as a steel worker with James Steel Company of Lesterville, SD. Justin loved being in the Scotland Pool League. He enjoyed fishing and most of all he loved being with his family and friends.

Justin's memory will be cherished by his fiance, Mandy Viereck and daughter Alyssa Viereck; parents, Reinold and Bernadine Pinkelman; brothers: Lonnie Pinkelman, Daniel Pinkelman, Jason Pinkelman, Aaron Pinkelman; sister, Dianne Pinkelman; grandparents: Anna Pinkelman of Hartington, NE and Sandy Milroy of Yankton, SD and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Wayne and Joyce Krisl and Edwin Pinkelman.

The family requests memorials are directed to Reinold and Bernadine Pinkelman, 1011 Cedar Street, Springfield, SD 57062.

Harvey F. Hansen, age 88, of Yankton, SD, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2009 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton. Memorial services will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Chapel, Yankton, with Rev. Dave Gunderson officiating. Burial of cremated remains will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Yankton with military graveside rites by Ernest-Bowyer VFW Post #791, Yankton. Visitation will be 5-8 PM, Monday, October 12, 2009 at Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory, Yankton with a 7:00 PM prayer service. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Harvey Francis was born on September 27, 1921 to Hans B. and Belle (Seddon) Hansen in Crofton, NE. He was educated in Green Island District 3 in Cedar County, NE. At the age of 10, he began living with various aunts and uncles after the death of his mother. Harvey entered and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After his military service, he returned to Yankton and married Charlotte Schlueter on March 1, 1946. Harvey worked at various Standard Stations in Yankton before owning his own stations. He later worked at Beadle School before retiring at age 65.

Harvey was a lifetime member of the VFW and the Royal Order of the Cooties. He served the Yankton community as a Meals On Wheels driver and transported veterans to the veterans hospital in Sioux Falls before they had a van. Harvey also served many years as the 1st Sergeant of the Honor Guard in the Yankton area.

Harvey's memory will be cherished by his wife, Charlotte of Yankton; daughter, Constance Huber of Sioux City, IA; grandson, Christopher Brent Huber of Sioux City, IA; great-grandchildren: Christina Alexandra Huber and Joshua Brent Huber; brother, Joy (Delores) Hansen of Chicago, IL; sister, Bernice Hansen of Tucson, AZ and special friends: Bob and Deloris Gwinn, Pat and Francis McDonald, Bob and Judy Hackett, Dawn Mann, Lois Stryle and many special nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Harvey; daughter, Gail Marie; granddaughter, Dawn Huber; brothers: Irving and Luverne Hansen and sister, Evelyn Halle.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the St. John's Lutheran Church Building Fund, 1009 Jackson St, Yankton, SD 57078.

Bob Taggart, Sr., age 67, of Yankton, died peacefully at home under hospice care on Thursday, November 5, 2009. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, November 9, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Yankton, with Rev. David Wildermuth officiating. Private burial of cremated remains will take place at a later date. Visitation will be 4-8 PM, Sunday, November 8, 2009 at Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory, Yankton. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will be Dave Cwach, Pat Kotalik, Dennis Johnson, Wes Encinger, Justin Rosenbaum and Greg Ackerman. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great grandchild.

Bob was born on December 17, 1941 to Walter and Inez (Thompson) Taggart in White River, SD. He attended Yankton Public Schools and married Ronda Menning on September 23, 1972 in Yankton.

Bob worked many jobs in his life. He mined in western South Dakota and worked for H&K Oil Company, Champlin Service Center and various trucking companies. He enjoyed his career as a truck driver as he always told many stories of the states he drove through. When his truck driving days came to an end, he became a yard foreman at Fullertons Lumber Yard in Yankton. Bob retired from there due to poor health.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and he was immensely proud of his family including his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchild.

Bob's memory will be cherished by his wife, Ronda (Menning) Taggart of Yankton; son, Bob (Cheryl) Taggart, Jr. of Yankton; daughters: Donna (Dennis) Johnson of Grand Island, NE, Traci (David) Cwach of Yankton, Kristina (Pat) Kotalik of Utica, SD, Kelle Taggart of Yankton, Alisha Taggart and special friend Justin Rosenbaum of Yankton; grandchildren: Amy (Wes) Encinger, Dennis Johnson, Jr., Rachael, Sharolate and Tully Taggart, Ryan, Shannon and Brandon Cwach, Garrett, Stephanie, Alex and Hannah Kotalik, Andrew and Brady Taggart; great-grandson, Brogan Encinger; brother, Darrell (Carol) Taggart of Lead, SD; sisters: Ella (Gale) Brewer of Yankton, Mabel (Terry) Hughes of Las Vegas, NV, Rose Townsend, Betty (Wayne) Berquist of Yankton and mother-in-law, Hazel Menning of Yankton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers: Glen, Lowell, Ed and Floyd; two sisters: Irene and Patty and granddaughter, Heather Cwach.

John Dale Fejfar, age 61, of Yankton, passed away unexpectedly Sunday afternoon at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Yankton, SD with Rev. Mark Lichter officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitations will be from 5 to 8 PM, Wednesday July 14, 2010 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory, Yankton with a 7:00 PM rosary followed by a 7:30 PM scripture service. Pallbearers will be Pat Hawk, Jacob Hawk, Max Kaiser, Pat Kaiser, Jerry Kolda, and Daryl Mello. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Hawk, Bonita Schnabel, Karen Hochstein, Elwood Lippert, Lexy Mann, Tom Mann, and all the staff of Special Journeys.

John Dale Fejfar was born to Emanuel and Helen (Vaith) Fejfar on May 25, 1949. His early years were spent on a farm near Lesterville, SD, where he attended Wilson School District #54 and Special Education Classes at Yankton, SD. During 1971-1972, John attended the Sioux Vocational School in Sioux Falls. Later that year, he and his parents moved to Yankton where John began classes and work at the sheltered workshop, Community Projects Unlimited. In 1975, John began attending the Yankton Area Training and Adjustment Center, now known as 'Ability Building Services', and in 1989, he began working part time at the Yankton Mall and started independent living.

John was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was active in the Saturday Community Religious Education group. John also attended Wednesday night bible study classes and Sunday services at the Assembly of God Church where he made many friends. For several years, John was active in the Special Olympics where he won several gold medals for bowling, basketball and track. He played in the City League for Horseshoes in 1989 and 1990. He took special pride in being in the cast of the 1989 Centennial Pageant. John enjoyed all kinds of music (especially that of his Czech heritage) and fishing with his father. Other meaningful events of his life included: a flight to California where he visited his aunt's family, Mrs. Hattie (Ben) Ensley, attending a Minnesota Twins baseball game at the Metrodome, visiting with his brother, Jim in Nebraska and his sister Mary in Minnesota. In the last several years John found great enjoyment travelling the country. John went to Vermont for the fall foliage, Arizona to view Spring Training and the Grand Canyon, Nebraska for a Husker football game, and Wyoming to see Yellowstone and rodeo at Frontier days. John also saw the Christmas in Kansas City Program and the Laura Ingles Wilder Pageant. John was active in the Yankton community having volunteered at Pine Lake Estates and regularly attended exercise classes and lunch at the Yankton Senior Center. John especially enjoyed the people he met and often spoke of them.

John is survived by his sister, Mary Ann (Robert) Kaiser of Mankato, MN; sister-in-law Therese (James) Fejfar of St. Joseph, MO; nieces and nephews: Ken (Annette) Kaiser of Plymouth, MN; Keith (Debra) Kaiser of Spokane Valley, WA and their children: Cassandra, Heather, and Jennifer; Dan (Mary Kay) Kaiser of Sioux Falls, SD and their children: Max (Jena), Danielle, and Patrick; Valerie (Arnold) Bogenschutz of Mankato, MN and their children: Kristin, Jamie, and Nicole; Tony (Judy) Fejfar of Pittsburg, PA and their children: Crista and Josh; Mary (George) Van Cleve of Seattle, WA and their son David; and Ellen King (Stan) Gidley of St. Joseph, MO and children Mathew, Michael, Donavan, Zachary, and Mariel; and many cousins. He is also survived by the Hawk family who were his companions and long time trusted friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother: James, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Andrea R. Guy, of Volin, SD passed away from pancreatic cancer at her residence on Monday, July 19, 2010. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Faith United Lutheran Church, rural Volin, with Rev. Velma Larson officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Volin, with Military Graveside Rites by the Gingrich-Dixon American Legion Post #13. Visitations will be 5 to 8 PM, Friday, at Faith United Lutheran Church with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory, Yankton, has been trusted with the funeral arrangements. Pallbearers will be Terry Sylberger, William Casey, Tyler Almond, Nick Schmidt, Brad Bender, and John Haas.

Andrea was born April 14, 1966 to Ron Gearhart and Irene (Saccento) Adamson at Clarion, IA. She was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church at Goldfield, IA. She grew up in Goldfield, IA and graduated from Goldfield Community School in 1984. She joined the US Army in 1985 and served in active and reserve duty until 1992. She loved her work in medical records at Sanford Hospital (Vermillion). She also ran the Volin Café during the years of 2004 and 2005. She married Joe Guy on May 19, 2002 and together made their home in Volin, SD.

Andrea's memory is cherished by her husband Joe of Volin, SD; sons Kelly Guy of Sioux City, IA, John Guy of Volin, SD, and Larry Johnson of Albuquerque, NM; daughters Candice Johnson of Volin, SD, Cassandra Johnson of Crofton, NE, Nikki Guy of Volin, SD, Debbie Johnson of Santa Monica, CA, Nesha Benton of Webster, IA; two grandchildren Zander Benten and Kaden Cruz; brothers Robert (Nancy) Gearhart of Pooler, GA and Shannon Gearhart of Eagle Grove, IA; parents Irene (Delmar) (Saccento) Adamson of Volin, SD and Ron (Pam) Gearhart of Woolstock, IA; and Maternal Grandmother Lois Saccento of Goldfield, IA.

She was preceded in death by her Paternal grandparents Sam (Harriet) Gearhart; Maternal grandfather Vince Saccento, Sr.; Father-in-law Ronnie Guy; Uncle Vince Saccento, Jr., and Grand Niece Ashley Gearhart.

Tami Marie Hecht, age 44 years, 6 months, and 18 days of Lexington, AL and formerly of Yankton, SD died March 8, 2010 at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence, AL. Memorial services will be 1:30 PM, Saturday, June 5, 2010 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Chapel, Yankton, with Rev. Bob Lacey officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be in Second Creek Cemetery, Five Points, TN Visitations will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Tami was born August 19, 1965 at Estherville, IA to William and Denise (Kollash) Hecht. She was baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in 1968 and grew up in the Yankton area. She attended schools in Yankton and received her GED in 1985. She then attended Mount Marty College in 1986. She married Bob Baker in October 30, 1988 in Yankton, SD. While in Yankton she worked at Sacred Heart Laundry, Buhl's Cleaners, Casey's West, and the Coffee Cup in Vermillion, SD. In 1997 she moved to Tennessee and most recently worked at Center Hill Market and Hardware. She enjoyed her family, grandchildren, friends, flowers, and wanted to help others by being an organ donor.

She is survived by her life partner Barry Williams of Lexington, AL; three daughters Rachael Baker of Kellen, AL, Kelly Hecht of Lawrenceburg, TN; and Cynthia (Cameron) Sims of TN; 6 granddaughters and 2 step-grandchildren. One brother, Todd (Audrea) and their children Kelsea and Robbie Hecht of Yankton, SD; sisters: Toni (Scott) Stevens of Tucson, AZ; Tonya Hackett (fiancé Richard Fontenot) of AL and her daughters Heather Hackett of Yankton, SD and Kristie (Adam) Wheeler of MN; and Twyla Jo (Jeff) Weber and her daughters Alyssa King and Shaylee King all of Sioux Falls, SD and her mother Denise Hecht of Yankton, SD, and many nieces, nephews, uncles, and aunts. She was preceded in death by her father, grandparents, baby sister Tina L. Hecht, 4 uncles and 1 cousin.

Pamela Rae Hosmer, age 53, of Largo, FL and formerly of Yankton, SD, passed away June 30, 2010 at her residence in Largo, FL. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church, Yankton, with Bob Cappel officiating. Burial will be in the Yankton Cemetery. Visitations will be 5 to 8 PM, Tuesday, at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory, Yankton, and then one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will be Michael Mehrer, Nicholas Johnson, Tera Johnson, Jason Johnson, Eliot Armstrong, Aaron Burbach, Zachary Lippert, Adam Hines. Honorary Pallbearers David Hosmer,Janell, Jolene, Jeffrey, Jody, Jordan, Karla, Kristi, Stephen, Leah, Lisa, Lynn, Stephanie, Philip, Sara, Christopher, Matthew, Amber, Troy, Amy, Amanda, Emily, Katie, Tessa.

Pamela R. Hosmer was born on June 8, 1957 at Yankton, SD, to Paul and Evelyn (Biesman) Johnson. She grew up in Yankton and Pamela R. Hosmer attended Yankton schools and then earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of South Dakota in 1983 She worked her way through college having worked at K-Mart, Gibson's and the Yankton Elks Lodge for several years.

Pamela was united in marriage to Larry F. Hosmer on November 13, 1982 at Yankton, South Dakota, and to this union a daughter, Allison Hosmer was born.

Following graduation from college she was employed at Portec, Inc. as a financial accountant until 1999. Shortly thereafter she and her family moved to Florida where she resided until her death. Pamela had been in poor health for several years having suffered from a multitude of medical problems.

During her lifetime she was always interested in family activities, and was a wonderful cook. She enjoyed going to restaurants and duplicating what had been served. She also loved to read, and spent many hours doing so when she was too ill to work.

Grateful for having shared her life is her husband of 27 years, Larry Hosmer, a daughter, Allison Hosmer and grandson, Nolan Latronica, all of Largo, FL, and a step son, David (Stephanie) Hosmer of Yankton and step-grandchildren Ella and Harper; four sisters, Darlene Mehrer of Scotland, SD, Patricia Armstrong (Mike) of Meckling, SD, Paula Burbach (Chuck) of Wynot, NE, and Marlys Hines (Paul) of Hartington, NE, and three brothers, Wayne Johnson (Estelle), and Eldon Johnson of Yankton, SD and Dan Johnson (Joan) of Sioux Falls, SD; and sisters-in-law Judy Johnson of Saginaw, MI, and Ruth Johnson of Sioux Falls, SD and Mary Johnson of Yankton, SD. Brother-in-law Rick (Robin) Hosmer of Watertown, SD and Sister-in-law Audrey (Marlin) Thompson of Sioux Falls, SD Pamela was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers, Gerald Johnson, Curtis Johnson and Roger Johnson She was also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Gail Guthmiller, age 56 of Menno passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 23, 2010 at her home due to injuries sustained from a gas explosion. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM, Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Menno, SD with Rev. David Ellis officiating. Burial will be in the Menno Cemetery. Visitations will begin at 4:00 PM, Friday, August 27, 2010 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Menno with the family present and a 7:00 PM prayer service. Aisenbrey-Opsahl-Kostel Memorial Chapel, Menno is in charge of the arrangements.

Gail Lin Guthmiller was born September 1, 1953 to Mervin and Betty (Feragen) Guthmiller in Estelline, South Dakota. She was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church and graduated from Menno High School in 1971. She attended South Dakota State University and Worthington Community College in Worthington, MN. While in Worthington she managed the JoAnn Fabric Store and later managed stores in Michigan, Willmar, MN and Portland, OR. Gail also worked for ten years for Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Portland. Gail returned to Menno, SD in 2007. She was employed by the United States Postal Service and Heritage Pharmacy.

Surviving Gail are her parents, Mervin and Betty Guthmiller of Menno, SD, siblings Robert (Ana) Guthmiller of Torrance, CA, Mary (Bruce) Handel of Menno, SD, Ann (Jerry) Clough of Yankton, SD, and Mark (Pam) Guthmiller of Oregon, WI and her special friend, Daryl Miller of Menno, SD. Gail is also survived by many special nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends.

Nicholas (Nick) Ray LaCroix, age 21, of Yankton passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2010 in Crofton, NE due to injuries sustained from a vehicle accident. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Yankton with Rev. Timothy Learman officiating. Burial will be in the Yankton Cemetery. Visitations will be from 4-9 PM, Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory, Yankton with a 7 PM prayer service. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will be Tanner Olson, Bobby Adams, Jr., Mark LaCroix, Mitch LaCroix, Matt LaCroix, and Merlin LaCroix, Jr.

Nick was born on October 4, 1988 to Marlin and Laurie (Yun) LaCroix in Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. He was baptized on October 23, 1988 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls, SD and confirmed on April 27, 2003 in St. John's Lutheran Church in Yankton, SD. Nick attended grade school and graduated from Yankton High School. Nick was employed by his father's construction company, LaCroix Construction and worked weekends at 81 Seafood and Chophouse. He enjoyed all things but especially sports and NFL games. Nick loved everyone but his family and friends always came first. Nick was known for his big heart and caring attitude.

Those who will always cherish his memory are his parents, Marlin and Laurie LaCroix of Yankton, SD; his brothers, Neal LaCroix and his fiancée, Christina Kaiser and Nathan LaCroix, all of Yankton; his sisters, Amy (Bobby, Jr.) Adams of Bristow, VA and Lisa (Tanner) Olson of Tea, SD and his grandmothers, Harriet Yun of Yankton, SD and Delores LaCroix of Crofton, NE and one nephew, Porter Olson.

Those who preceded him in death are his grandfathers, Edward Yun and Merlin LaCroix, his uncle, Mervin LaCroix, and cousin, Aaron Mutchler.
