David O. Rude

RAPID CITY — David O. Rude, of Rapid City and Keystone, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital after a yearlong battle with cancer.

Visitation will be from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, at Behrens Mortuary, and one hour before services at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Rapid City.

Funeral services will be Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at 10 a.m., at Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Rapid City.

Dave was born Aug. 25, 1940, in Ambrose, N.D., to LeRoy and Mabel (Swenson) Rude. He was raised on the family farm in Colgan, N.D., and attended and graduated from high school in Crosby, N.D.. He graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1962 and 1964.

Dave served as Deputy State's Attorney for Pennington County in the mid- to late 1960s and then had his own private law practice. In recent years, he owned and operated Independent Recovery and Investigation.

Dave married Mary Lee Wenker in Crosby, N.D., in 1964. They made their home in Rapid City until moving to "Rude's Rockin R Ranch" near Keystone in 1997. He enjoyed hunting with his boys, golfing with his friends and horseback riding with Mary Lee.

Dave is survived by his wife, Mary Lee, of Keystone; son Mark and his wife, Kellie, of Rapid City; daughter, Jennifer, and her husband, Mike Nolan, of Castle Rock, Colo.; and son Eric and his wife, Cathi, of Billings, Mont. He is survived by three very special grandchildren, Aaron and Brady Rude, and Erika Nolan. Survivors also include three brothers, Ron, Jerry and Robert, all of California; sister Betty Galloway, Minnesota; and sister-in-law Betty Rude, North Dakota.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother LeRoy Jr.

Memorials have been established for the Oncology Unit at Rapid City Regional Hospital and Emmanuel Episcopal Church.

Arrangements have been placed in the care of Isburg-McColley's Chapel of the Hills, Hot Springs, assisted by Behrens Mortuary of Rapid City.

Carol N. (Burgess) Anderson

STURGIS — Carol N. (Burgess) Anderson, 73, Sturgis, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001, at Sturgis Community Health Care Center.

Visitation will be Thursday from 8 a.m. until noon at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis and one hour before the services at the church Thursday.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis, with Pastor Howard Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Bear Butte Cemetery.

Carol was born June 2, 1927, at Omaha, Neb., to William and Jessie H. (Martin) Burgess. She lived in Kansas City, Mo., as a young girl and graduated from Paseo High, Kansas City, Mo., on (D-Day) June 6, 1944. Carol married Ralph Anderson in Olathe, Kan., on Jan. 31, 1947, and was blessed with three children, Marsha, Andy and Gayle.

New Year's Day, 1953, Carol was a victim of polio and was confined to a wheelchair for the rest of her life.

In 1963, Carol moved with her family to Sturgis, and began education in medical records at St. John's Hospital in Rapid City. She worked in medical records in Sundance, Hot Springs, Lusk and Riverton, Wyo. In Riverton, Carol worked to start a hospice program and was an advocate for the disabled and elderly.

In 1986, Carol accepted directorship of medical records at the Sturgis Community Hospital. She retired in 1997.

Carol was a member of the American Business Women's Association and the American Medical Records Association. She was a special lady who never let her physical disability slow her down. She loved and flew in hot air balloons and planes. She was a talented floral designer, loved arts and crafts, and was an excellent seamstress, creating hundreds of Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls for grandchildren, nieces and friends.

She was greatly loved and will be missed by her children, Marsha and her husband, Moreland Estes of Bakersfield, Calif., and their children, Vincent and Michelle; Andy Anderson and his wife, Joyce, of Pleasant Hills, Mo., and their daughters, Sara and Marilyn; Gayle Anderson and her husband, Keith Larson, of Cedar Park, Texas, and their children, Mark, Lori and Tracie. She is also survived by two brothers and their wives, Gene and Beulah Burgess, Yankton, and Bill and Karen Burgess, Chancellor; one sister and her husband, Ramona and Don Strandell, Spearfish; seven great-grandchildren; her uncle and aunt, Carroll and Laura Martin, Belle Fourche; and many other relatives and friends.

Her parents, Bill and Jessie Burgess, and her husband, Ralph, preceded her in death.

A memorial has been established to the Sturgis Community Health Care Center.

Carl Elk Boy

BISHOP, Calif. — Carl Elk Boy, 52, Bishop, Calif., died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, in Bishop.

Survivors include one daughter, Adelyne Arapahoe, Pine Ridge; and two sisters, Marie Black Tail Deer and Vera Brings Plenty, both of Pine Ridge.

A one-night wake service will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at St. Agnes Catholic Church Hall in Manderson.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at the church.

Burial will be in St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery in Manderson.

Sioux Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Levi Martin Peters

RAPID CITY — Levi Marvin Peters, 16, of Rapid City, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at his home.

He was born on May 28, 1984, in Rapid City to Link R. and Barbara (Arguello) Peters. He attended Wilson and Knollwood Elementary Schools, Dakota Middle School and was currently attending Rapid City Central High School and Jefferson Academy. Levi's hobbies included skateboarding, snowboarding, playing the guitar and fishing. He was especially fond of skateboarding and worked especially hard for the approval of the skateboard park in Rapid City.

Survivors include his parents, Barbara (Arguello) Peters and Mike Radlinger of Rapid City; two brothers, Link Peters II and Michael Radlinger II, both of Rapid City; three sisters, Seferina Peters and her fiance Ramiro Moran, Amanda Peters and Julia Peters, all of Rapid City; maternal grandmother, Della Arguello of Rapid City; maternal grandfather, Joe F. Arguello II of Denver; paternal grandparents, Marvin Jr. and Mona Peters of Rapid City; paternal great-grandfather, Marvin Peters Sr. of Rapid City; and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, great-aunts, great-uncles and friends. Levi was preceded in death by his father, Link Peters, in 1992; a brother, David Dean, in 1990; and great-grandparents, Robert and Dena Donahey.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Isaac Jogues Church in Rapid City, with a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m. at the church. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 19, at St. Isaac Jogues Church, with the Rev. Pat McCorkell, S.J., as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Rapid City. A lunch will follow the burial at the Mother Butler Center. A memorial has been established in Levi's name.

Osheim-Catron Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Inez McNeil

PIERRE — Inez McNeil, 100, Pierre, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at Maryhouse Sub Acute Care Center in Pierre.

Survivors include 10 grandchildren, James Laird, Mitchell, Steve Laird, Pierre, Dawn Stoltz and Kevin Laird, both of Black Hawk, Randy Laird, Fairfield, Calif., Barb Laird-Pierson, Denver, Deb Laird, Phoenix, and Wanda Laird, Michael Laird and Brenda MaHaffy, all of Rapid City; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at Hofmeister Funeral Chapel in Pierre.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at Hofmeister Funeral Chapel in Pierre, with the Rev. Genie Butler officiating.

Burial will be at Scotty Philip Cemetery in Fort Pierre.

Vinton M. Henderson

HETTINGER — Vinton M. Henderson, 83, Lodgepole, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at Hillcrest Care Center in Hettinger.

Survivors include his wife, Madeline Henderson, Lodgepole; three daughters, Trudy Stauffacher, Bismarck, N.D., Marlis Froistad, Shawnee Mission, Kan., and Renee Henderson, Kenai, Alaska; one son, Terry Henderson, Lodgepole; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 20, at Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Hettinger, and one hour before services at Hettinger Lutheran Church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at Hettinger Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Robert Boxrud officiating.

Burial will be at Hettinger Cemetery.

Helen Tidball

FORT PIERRE — Helen Tidball, 80, Fort Pierre, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at her home.

Survivors include her husband, Sam Tidball, Fort Pierre; one son, Dennis Peterson, Cincinnati, Ohio; two daughters, Deila Steiner, Lincoln, Neb., and Kareen Strickler, Garland, Texas; one sister, Lulu Mae Wilken, Meadow; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, with a 7 p.m. Eastern Star service, at Feigum Funeral Home in Pierre.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at Congregational United Church of Christ in Pierre, with the Rev. Roger Easland officiating.

Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at Hillsview Cemetery in Isabel.

Donald D. Namanny

HOT SPRINGS — Donald D. Namanny, 71, Hot Springs, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at Hot Springs VA Hospital.

Survivors include his companion, Alyce Bennett, Hot Springs; one daughter, Christine Namanny Oldenkemp, Kennebec; one brother, Robert Namanny, Worthington, Minn.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Post Everlasting will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at the American Legion in Hot Springs.

Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

Jeanne M. White

RAPID CITY — Jeannne M. White, 64, of Rapid City died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at her home.

Jeanne was born Aug. 16, 1936, in Rosebud, to Richard and Edith (Clifford) DuBray. She graduated from Oglala Community High School in 1955 and then attended Montana State University.

Jeanne married Lee White in Rapid City on Dec. 31, 1956.

Jeanne was the owner of TP Construction Co. in Rapid City for many years. She was named Small Business Woman for South Dakota in 1973.

She was the general manager for the Oglala Sioux Tribal Construction Co. and a founder of the South Dakota Indian Businessmen's Association.

Jeanne was a member of St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, the YMCA and the Oglala Sioux Tribe. She was an avid Bronco fan and a very spiritual person.

She is survived by her father, Richard DuBray of Billings Mont.; five children, Robin White of Pendleton, Ore., Jaye White, Edie Clemmons and her husband, Shawn, all of Rapid City, Bob White and Dawn Pourier of Sharps Corner, Bill White and his wife, Terri of Rockyford; two brothers, James DuBray and his wife, Peggy of Billings, Mont., and Mr. and Mrs. Dan DuBray of Washington, D.C.; and 13 grandchildren, Tina, Jay C, Lee, Jeanne, Buddy, Sarah, Breanna, Ashley, Jacqui, Audi, Bobbi, Shawn and Billie; and all her friends and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee White, mother, Edith Hein, granddaughter Jesse Clemmons and her brother Patrick DuBray.

A rosary service will begin at 7 p.m. at the Mother Butler Center in Rapid City on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001.

Services will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 19, at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Rapid City, with Father Pat McCorkell, S.J., officiating. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

Arrangements are with Rooks & Kirk Funeral Home of Rapid City.
