ELLSWORTH AFB - Jordan Nichole Kelley, 4 months, Ellsworth Air Force Base, died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Survivors include her parents, Brent and Stephanie Kelley, Ellsworth; her sister, Meghan Kelley, Ellsworth; and her grandparents, Wendy Clark, Whitney, Texas, Joy Kelley, Lakeside Village, Texas, and David Jr. and Darcy Guerat, Riesel, Texas.
A memorial service will be at 9 a.m. Friday at Freedom Chapel at Ellsworth AFB. Services and burial will be in Whitney.
Rooks & Kirk Funeral Home of Rapid City is in charge of arrangements.
Elizabeth 'Betty' DeRocher
SPEARFISH - Elizabeth "Betty" DeRocher, 92, Spearfish, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at Lookout Memorial Hospital in Spearfish.
Survivors include her son, Robert DeRocher, Hulett, Wyo.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Burial will be at a later date in Maine.
Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche is in charge of arrangements.
Donna J. Freiburghouse
LINCOLN, Neb. - Donna J. Freiburghouse, 40, Lincoln, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, in Lincoln.
Survivors include a daughter, Nicole Freiburghouse, Lincoln; a son, Christopher Freiburghouse, Lincoln; her husband, James Freiburghouse, Lincoln; her stepmother, Nancy Weibel, Charlotte, N.C.; three brothers, Tom Weibel and Rod Bland, both of Rapid City, and Eric Weibel, Charlotte; three sisters, Veronica Weibel, Rapid City, Lara Grohs, Roswell, Ga., and Cindy Weibel, Morgantown, W.Va.; her mother, Betty Bland, Rapid City; and a special friend, Bob Bullock, Mississippi.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at Wyuka Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Kenn A. Pugh
SARASOTA, Fla. - Kenn A. Pugh, 45, Sarasota and formerly of Miller, Rapid City, Lead and Dupree, S.D., died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at his home.
Survivors include his mother, Lois Christiansen, St. Lawrence, S.D.; a sister, Ann Meyer, Watertown, S.D.; two brothers, Jay Pugh and Don Pugh, both of Miller; and his grandmother, Gladys Neeman, Miller.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 25, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at Reck Funeral Home in Miller.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 26, at United Methodist Church in Miller, with the Rev. Richard Gould officiating. Burial will be at G.A.R. Cemetery in Miller.
Maxine F. Turner
HOT SPRINGS - Maxine F. Turner, 75, Hot Springs, died Thursday, March 22, 2001, at Castle Manor Nursing Home in Hot Springs.
Survivors include a son, Clyde Trautloff, Palm Bay, Fla.; a daughter, Joyce Meyer, Edgemont; a brother, Walter Overton, Eldon, Mo.; a sister, Dorothy Miller, Four Seasons, Mo.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be in Columbus, Kan., at a later date.
Rooks-Isburg-McColley's Chapels of the Hills in Hot Springs is in charge of arrangements.
John Pasqualucci
RAPID CITY - John Pasqualucci, 58, Rapid City, died Thursday, March 22, 2001, while bravely battling cancer.
John was born Dec. 19, 1942, at New London, Conn., the son of John and Jose (Carona) Pasqualucci.
In 1961, he joined the Air Force, serving in England and Alaska before being transferred to Ellsworth Air Force Base, where he met and subsequently married Barbara Ann Blote.
That union was blessed with two wonderful children, Robert and Kelly.
In 1965, the family moved to Connecticut for three years before returning to Rapid City.
John formed his own construction company, K&J Construction, which he operated for three years. He then joined the Rapid City school system, where he was employed until the time of his death.
Survivors include Barbara Pasqualucci, Rapid City; and their children, Bob Pasqualucci, his wife, Penny, and their two children, Amber and Briana, and Kelly Doyle and her husband, Jim, and their children, Tyler and Megan, all of Rapid City.
Memorial services will be at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Osheim-Catron Funeral Home.
A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society.
Margaret A. 'Mar' Wagner
REEDER, N.D. - Margaret A. "Mar" Wagner, 73, Reeder, died Tuesday, March 20, at a Bismarck hospital.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Jo Verhulst, Hettinger; a son, Bill Wagner, Valley Center, Calif.; seven grandchildren; a brother, Lawrence Molan, Minneapolis; and a sister, Mary Kemp, Minneapolis.
Visitation will be from noon to 5:30 p.m. Friday at Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Hettinger and one hour before services Saturday at Sacred Heart Church in Reeder.
A vigil service and rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at the church, with the Rev. John Mathal officiating and the Rev. Dan Juelfs and the Rev. Kerry Prendeville as concelebrants.
Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery in Reeder.
Jerry G. Gortmaker
RAPID CITY - Jerry G. Gortmaker, 70, of Rapid City, died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at his home.
Jerry was born June 18, 1930, at Miller to John and Hazel (Gussler) Gortmaker.
He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War.
He married Betty Lass on March 4, 1961, in Rapid City. He was a heavy-equipment operator during his career.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Jerry's hobbies were gardening and working in the garage, and he enjoyed his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Gortmaker of Rapid City; two sons, Troy and wife Susan Gortmaker of Sheboygan, Wis., and Leo Gortmaker of Rapid City; four daughters, Brenda Holmberg of Black Hawk, Rita Elder and special friend Joel Finney of Rapid City, Audrey Bondurant of Henderson, Nev., and Vickie Bolding of Las Vegas; his mother, Hazel Gortmaker of Rapid City; seven sisters, Violet Deuter and husband Dick of Rapid City, Lulubelle Shuler and husband Jack of Cody, Wyo., Pearl Schlechter and husband Paul of Orient, Karen Ruml and her husband, Larry, of Letcher, Shirley Sell and husband Ed of Miller, Anita Beaner and husband John of Miller, and Rosemary Goodall and husband Lyle of St. Lawrence; and four brothers, Ben Gortmaker of Sioux Falls, Louis Gortmaker and his wife, Mardella, Harlen Gortmaker and his wife, Jeanie, and Jack Gortmaker, all of Miller; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, John Gortmaker; an infant sister; a son, Jerry Allen Gortmaker; a granddaughter, Sherri Lynn Gortmaker; and son-in-law Patrick Holmberg.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 25, at Rooks & Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City and one hour before services Monday at the church.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 26, at First United Methodist Church in Rapid City, with the Rev. Steve Foss officiating.
Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, with military honors by the Sturgis Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
Laska Schoenfelder
MOUNT VERNON - Laska Schoenfelder, 63, Mount Vernon, died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn.
Survivors include her husband, Mike Schoenfelder, Mount Vernon; five children, Julie Greenway, Mount Vernon, Joi Seiler, Elkton, John Schoenfelder, Huron, Jacki VanGorp, Stickney, and Joe Schoenfelder, Mount Vernon; 15 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; her mother, Margaret Reno, Dalton Gardens, Idaho; and six brothers and sisters, Jim Lyon, Vivan Lyon and Ralph Lyon, all of Meadow, LuAnne Jordan, Faith, Barbara Lorenz, Huron, and Norman Lyon, Rapid City.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 24, at Mount Vernon Community Center, with the Rev. Don Reynen officiating. Burial will be at Mount Vernon Cemetery.
Deal B. Barnes
VALENTINE, Neb. - Deal B. Barnes was born Sept. 23, 1914, in Rapid City, to Claude and Mamie Barnes. He had four brothers, Buster, Louis and Jay Barnes, deceased, and Clifford Barnes who still resides in Rapid City. He also has one sister, Marietta Wiswell (Don) who lives in Bandon, Ore.
Deal passed away on March 17, 2001. Deal graduated from Rapid City High School, where he started his boxing career. He was Golden Glove champion and then turned pro boxer in the lightweight division and won many fights.
On Nov. 13, 1935, he married Ruth Wirshing (Barnes) also of Rapid City. They have one daughter, Betty Lee (Bryan) of Fullerton, Neb.
After leaving the boxing ring, he was assistant manager for the Nash Finch Fruit House for several years. During those years, he also trained young boxers, broke horses for Gov. Tom Berry, trained race horses and was a jockey for the quarter horse races in Deadwood.
He joined the Navy and served a short time, and upon returning to Rapid City, Deal and Ruth owned and operated a local grocery store. They came to Nebraska and settled in the Valentine area in 1955 on the Bow and Arrow Ranch, then owned by Sam Hudson. Raising cattle and ranching was the love of his life.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star and the Sesostris Shriners.
He has two grandchildren, Darrin Lee of Fort Worth, Texas, and Chris Davis (Tom) of Valentine. He also has one great-grandson, Dusty Davis of Valentine. His wife, Ruth, still lives in the Valentine area.
Sandoz's Chapel of the Pines has made the arrangements. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 20, at the Presbyterian Church in Valentine.
E. June Peek
DENVER - E. June Peek, 73, Denver, and formerly of Rapid City, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, in Denver.
Survivors include a son, Robert Peek, Denver; a brother, Robert Armstrong of Washington; a sister, Arlene Fellows of California; a son-in-law, Ron Banks, Rapid City; and a granddaughter.
Services will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Olinger Funeral Home in Denver.
Burial will be at Camp Butler in Springfield, Ill.

RAPID CITY - Jerry G. Gortmaker, 70, Rapid City, died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at his home.
