Anna Lawrensen

VERMILLION -- Anna B. Lawrensen, 81, of Vermillion, died Thursday (Feb. 3, 2005) at the Good Samaritan Home, Sioux Falls.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Roseni Lutheran Church, rural Beresford. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Sunday with a 7 p.m. prayer service at the Iverson-Siecke Funeral Home, Vermillion.

Viola T. Lammers

FORDYCE, Neb. -- Viola T. Lammers, age 98, of Fordyce, Nebraska, died on Friday, February 4, 2005, at Beverly Healthcare Center in Hartington.

Funeral Services will be on Monday, February 7, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fordyce with Rev. Michael Schmitz officiating. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Fordyce.

Visitation will be on Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. with a rosary at 2:00 p.m. at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington. There will be a vigil service on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. at the Church. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Church.

Pallbearers are Ron Lammers, Joe Lammers, Paul Thoene, Neal Thoene, Larry Lammers and Lyle Lammers.

Honorary pallbearers are the Christian Mothers.

Viola was born May 1, 1906, in Wynot Nebraska, to John and Rose (Schulte) Hochstein. She grew up in the Wynot area and married Raymond Lammers June 26, 1928 at Wynot. They farmed near Fordyce until 1976 when they moved into Fordyce. Raymond died March 30, 1977, at the age of 75. She lived at Pine Lane Assisted Living in Yankton from 1998 to 2003. In December of 2003, she entered Beverly Healthcare in Hartington.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the Guild, Catholic Daughters of America, Christian Mothers and the Solitaires. She loved roses, traveling and sewing. She loved to visit people in nursing homes.

Viola is survived by a son, Marcel Lammers, and his wife Alice of Pincher Creek, Alberta Canada; a daughter, Phyllis Thoene, and her husband Marcus, Fordyce; 2 daughters-in-law: Jeanette Lammers, Hartington, and Jean Marie Lammers, Hartington; 20 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Donald and Elaine Hochstein, Hartington; 3 sisters and their husbands: Delores Abbott, Redmond, Oregon; Freida and Don Hoss, LeMars, Iowa; and Mary Louise and Ralph Wieseler, St. Helena.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 3 sons: John, Donavon and Thomas Lammers; 3 sisters: Sister Rose Jean Hochstein, Rosine Pinkelman and Ruth Huennekens; 5 brothers: Lawrence, Reynold, Gilbert, John Jr. and Fritz Hochstein; 1 grandson, Maurice Thoene; 2 great-grandsons, John Lammers and Curtis Domina.

Theresa Lydon

COLERIDGE, Neb. -- Theresa A. Lydon, 100, of Coleridge, Neb., died on Wednesday (Feb. 2, 2005) at Park View Haven Nursing Home in Coleridge.

Funeral services will be on Thursday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Coleridge. Burial will be at St. Michael's Cemetery, Coleridge.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the church.

Wintz Funeral Home, Coleridge, is in charge of arrangements.

Robert Brunner

HURLEY -- Robert Brunner 74, of Hurley, died Friday (Feb. 4, 2005) in Yankton.

Funeral arrangements are pending with Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Chapel, Hurley.

Thomas Krcil

WAGNER - Funeral mass for Thomas Krcil, 62 of Wagner will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2005 at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Dante. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Dante.

Visitation will be Monday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner. Rosary/Wake services will be 7 p.m. Monday at the church.

Thomas Harry Krcil was born in Wagner, SD, on July 25, 1942, the son of Joseph A. and Mary (Konfrst) Krcil. He died Friday, February 4, 2005, after a battle with cancer, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Tom attained the age of 62 years, six months and 10 days.

Tom attended Lawrence #4 Country School through the eighth grade and attended Wagner High School for one year. He farmed with his Dad west of Dante in 1962 and 1963, and then farmed with his brothers, Frank and Tony.

Tom married Judy Caton on October 15, 1966, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Wagner. Two daughters were born to their union.

Tom continued farming north of Dante and milked cows until he started working for Cenex, where he worked from 1976 to 1992. Tom and Judy moved into Dante in 1980. They purchased Dorothy's Bar in January of 1988 and changed the name to TJ's Bar. Tom owned and operated the bar until failing health kept him from working the past few months.

Tom will be remembered for his love for his family, especially his grandkids. His greatest enjoyment in life was being with his grandchildren every chance he got. He also enjoyed visiting with everyone through the years at TJ's.

Thankful for having shared his life are his wife, Judy of Wagner; daughters: Lisa Peters and husband Chad of Wagner, and Julie Kirwan and husband Mick of Chamberlain; five grandchildren: Talia, Spencer and Jaden Peters, and Connor and Carson Kirwan; four brothers: Vit and wife Mildred of Wagner; Joe and wife Irene of Dante; Frank and wife Linda of Avon; and his twin, Tony and wife Rita of Wagner; two sisters: Dorothy Dixon of Cypress, CA, and Mary Ann Grills of Yankton; brother-in-law, Steve Walloch of Scotland; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother and a sister, Frances Walloch.

Orvan Tjeerdsma

SPRINGFIELD -- Orvan V. Tjeerdsma, 76, of Springfield, died from complications of pneumonia Thursday, February 3, 2005, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD. Orvan attained the age of 76 years, five months and four days.

His funeral service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 7, 2005, at the Emmanuel Reformed Church in Springfield, with burial in the Emanuel Cemetery, rural Springfield.

Visitation will be at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Springfield from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday followed by a prayer service.

Orvan Verle Tjeerdsma, son of Jess and Johanna (Odens) Tjeerdsma, was born August 30, 1928, on a farm near Springfield, SD. Orvan received his education at the Drake, Kingsburg and Hitt Country Schools. Orvan made his Confession of Faith on September 24, 1946, at the Emmanuel Reformed Church of Springfield and remained a faithful member, where he served as a deacon and elder.

Orvan married Gertrude Boersma on March 22, 1949, at the rural Emmanuel Reformed Church. Seven children were born to their union.

Orvan farmed south of Avon all of his working years. He also had a trucking business for 34 years, hauling livestock, grain and feed. Orvan sold the trucking business to his son, Randel in 1988. He and Gertrude moved to Springfield on December 7, 1996.

Orvan will be remembered as a hard worker and as someone who was always on time. He enjoyed restoring antique tractors.

Thankful for having shared his life are his wife, Gertrude of Springfield; children Randal and wife, Barb of Yankton, Jean Brown and husband, Wayne of Akron, IA, Keith and wife, Jill of Sergeant Bluff, IA, Marilyn Feekes and husband, Duane of Orange City, IA, Wayne and wife, Shari of Avon, Larry and wife, Dwan of Avon, and Lois Siewert and husband, Greg of Sioux Falls; 18 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; two brothers: Jim and wife, Cornelia of Avon and Cal and wife, Vicki of Tyndall; three sisters: Phyllis Romkema and Shirley Jelsma, both of Springfield and Joyce Svanda and husband, Larry of Tyndall; and many relatives and friends.

Orvan was preceded in death by a grandson, Nathan Tjeerdsma; his parents, one brother, Leslie; and two brothers-in-law: Donald Jelsma and Ray Romkema.

Robert Brunner

HURLEY -- Robert Brunner, 74, died Friday, February 4, 2005, in Yankton.

Robert Joseph Brunner was born on February 7, 1930, at Yankton, SD, to Frank and Clara (Anderson) Brunner. He attended country school near Hurley where he lived on the family farm before moving to Yankton in 1999.

He was a member of the Adjustment Training Center, Yankton, and St. Christina's Catholic Church, Parker.

Grateful for having shared his life are his sister-in-law, Maxine Brunner, Hurley; 2 nieces: Jeanne Jorgensen (Keith) and Connie Flyger (Craig), both of Hurley; 5 great-nieces and nephews and 6 great-great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a nephew, James; a brother, Francis; and a great-great-niece, Erica.

Funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 9, 2005, at St. Christina's Catholic Church, Parker, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-5:00 p.m. Tuesday at Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Chapel, Hurley, with a Scripture service at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the church.

Arland Hoesing

LONGMONT, Colo. -- Arland John Hoesing, 72, Longmont, Colo., died Jan. 12, 2003, at McKee Medical Center, Loveland, Colo.

Services were held at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

He was born July 22, 1930, to Hubert and Elizabeth (Hoebelheinrich) Hoesing in Menominee, Neb. He married Rita Marie Havermann June 14, 1954, in Nebraska. He graduated from Autioneering School in 1954 in Iowa. He farmed in Nebraska and moved to Colorado in 1982, to work as a cattle manager at Farr Feeders. He retired in 1995. His wife died in October 1995. He married Judith Ann Lukenbach March 4, 2002, in Longmont.

He loved working with quarter horses and enjoyed camping and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Judith Hoesing, Longmont; four daughters: Ramona Smith of Colorado; Bridget Bevers, Valarie Fischer and Michelle Hoesing, all of California; two sons: Gregg Hoesing of California and Jason Hoesing of Illinois; five grandchildren; one sister, Marion Hiene; and one brother, Deleno Hoesing.

He was preceded in death by one son, his parents, and four sisters.

Rose Petrik

UTICA -- Rose Petrik, age 92 of Utica passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2005, at the Scotland Good Samaritan Center, Scotland, SD.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 14, 2005, at the Kostel Funeral Chapel, Yankton with Rev. Jan Gross officiating. Burial will be in the Nikodym Cemetery, rural Utica.

Visitations will be from 6-9 p.m. Sunday, February 13, 2005, at the Kostel Funeral Home, Yankton. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Ron Kulish, Jim Kulish, Vince Fejfar, Larry Skorepa, Brian Munkvold and Dennis Herman.

Rose Petrik was born December 12, 1912, 3 miles east and 1 1/2 miles north of Lesterville to James and Mary (Slivka) Petrosky. On January 4, 1913, her mother passed away from complications of childbirth. Joseph and Louise Skorepa were visiting at the home that night, the Grandmother refused to take care of the child. So the Skorepa's suggested they would take her to their home temporarily. Louise Skorepa wrapped the baby in her homemade flannel petticoat and brought her home. In 2 weeks, they took her back, the Grandmother still would not accept her and told them to take her back. On February 19, 1913, James Petrosky and Joseph Skorepa got together and made out an agreement that the Skorepa's would raise the child as their own until she shall attain the age of 18. In 1930, she was of age, then the Skorepa's were in their retiring age and the mother was in failing health. She decided to stay with them, work on the farm and take care of them to repay the obligation for bringing her up. For all the love and care given to her as a child in her tender years.

She was baptized on June 8, 1913, Rose Mary Petrosky Skorepa. She went to Rockland School District 23. On April 5, 1932, she married Ben Luken of Utica, a farmer and trucker. On November 23, 1954, she married Raymond C. Petrik formally of Tabor. In 1956, Louise and Joseph Skorepa passed away. In September 1960, Rose and Ray got employment at the Human Services Center in Yankton. On November 11, 1975, Ray passed away. Rose retired from the Human Services Center in December of 1977 and remained on the farm.

She is survived by two half-sisters: Marie (Cecil) Simmons of Wessington Springs, SD; and Lillian (Wilfred) Hohn of Sioux Falls, SD; and many nieces and nephews and a special friend Clem Fejfar.

She was preceded in death by Louise and Joseph Skorepa and their son, Joe; her parents, James and Mary Petrosky; and two half-brothers.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Nikodym Cemetery Fund, c/o Alois Ruman, 237 North Stella, Tabor, SD 57063.

Mabel Dallman

HARTINGTON, Neb. -- Mabel B. Dallman, age 97, of Hartington, Nebraska, died on Wednesday, February 9, 2005, at Beverly Healthcare in Hartington.

Funeral Services will be on Saturday, February 12, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Congregational U.C.C. in Hartington with the Rev. Terry Buol officiating. Burial will be at the Hartington City Cemetery, Hartington, NE.

Visitation will be on Friday from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington, NE.

Pallbearers are: Robert Stilwell, Mason Dallman, Matthew Tenorio, Daniel Tenorio, Chuck Hochstein and Matthew Sudbeck. Honorary Pallbearers are all the grandchildren.

Mabel B. Dallman was born on August 31, 1907, in Westville, Illinois to Mack and Elsie (Fulton) Wear. Mabel moved to Hartington as a young girl in 1909 and graduated from Hartington High School. She married Julius J. Dallman on September 22, 1926, in Hartington, Nebraska. Julius died on May 23, 1943. She worked at Forinash Grocery in Hartington. Mabel moved to Whittier, California in 1955 where she worked as a clerk in a department store. She moved to Park View Haven Nursing home on July 14, 1993. She has been a resident of Beverly Healthcare in Hartington since June 24, 1996. She was a member of the Help Your Neighbor Club and the First Congregational United Church of Christ.

Mabel is survived by four children and their spouses: Julius Jr. and Maude Dallman, Overgaard, Arizona; Darold and Joyce Dallman, Hartington, NE; Lowell and Nancy Dallman, Hartington, NE; Bette Lou Stilwell, Murfersboro, Tennessee; 11 Grandchildren, 18 Great-Grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; one Sister, Mildred Hunt, Villa Grove, Illinois; two sisters-in-law: Esther Huss and Erma Dallman; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons: Howard and Robert Dallman; one brother, Frank Wear; a son-in-law, Stanley Stilwell; and 2 grandchildren: Julius Dallman and Pamela Dallman.

Memorials can be made to the HPS Education Foundation Jan Crandall Scholarship Fund.
