Kenneth G. Elliott

RAPID CITY - Kenneth G. Elliott, 84, Rapid City, died Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

He was born April 16, 1916, at Atlantic City, Wyo. Kenneth graduated high school from Rapid City High School in 1933. He married Elinor Underwood in Rapid City on Oct. 3, 1937. He was a farmer and rancher, and a sign man for the Pennington County Highway Department.

Kenneth was a member and usher at First Congregational Church in Rapid City.

He was survived by his daughter, Georgia M. Eisenbraun, Box Elder; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife, Elinor, in 1993; one son, Steven; two great-grandchildren; and his parents.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Behrens Mortuary.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 16, at Behrens Mortuary Chapel in Rapid City, with the Rev. Ted Huffman officiating.

Burial will follow at Pine Lawn Memorial Park in Rapid City.

Memorials have been established to the First Congregational Church in Rapid City, and Fairmont Grand Manor in Rapid City.

Thelma Byrne

RAPID CITY - Thelma Byrne, 85, Rapid City, died Monday, March 12, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Survivors include five daughters, Kelly Byrne-Davison, Rapid City, Kerry Mortweet, Burke, Va., Patricia Arnold, Carrollton, Texas, Bridget Byrne, Kansas City, Mo., and Deborah Rader, Bridgeport, Neb.; two sons, Edward Byrne, Denver, and Michael Byrne, Topeka, Kan.; one sister, Neone Hird, Edgeley, N.D.; one brother, Merle Dunsdon, Tucson, Ariz.; 21 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Osheim-Catron Funeral Home in Rapid City.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 16, at South Maple United Methodist Church in Rapid City, with the Rev. Tom Haggar officiating.

Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Rapid City.

Nicola Bulat

SPEARFISH - Nicola Bulat, 95, Spearfish, formerly of Lead, died Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at her home.

Survivors include two daughters, Louise Hart and Helen Hart, both of Spearfish; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, March 16, at Carlsen & Aldinger Funeral Home in Spearfish, with a rosary service at 7 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 17, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Spearfish, with the Rev. Kerry Prendiville as celebrant.

Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Lead.

Carlsen & Aldinger Funeral Home of Spearfish is in charge of arrangements.

Jennifer Collins

CUSTER - Jennifer Collins, 24, of rural Custer, died Monday, March 12, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Jeny was born on May 26, 1976, in Bowman, N.D.

She attended Rapid City public schools: Pinedale Elementary School, West Junior High and Stevens High School. Jeny then attended Reed College in Portland, Ore., and retired at age 22.

Her passions included music, travel, rock climbing, hiking and swimming in the Black Hills.

She had the unique ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Jeny experienced a lot of life and lived it to the fullest.

She will be missed by those who loved her and by the people she met along the way.

Survivors include her mother, Linda Collins of Rapid City; her father, Len Collins of Rapid City; and a sister, Jessica Collins of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Osheim-Catron Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 16, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Rapid City, with Rev. Dwight Stensgaard officiating.

Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Rapid City.

A memorial has been established to the Rapid City public school system "Save the Music Program."

Hildor R. Peterson

RAPID CITY - Hildor R. Peterson, 67, Rapid City, died Tuesday, March 14, 2001, at Custer Community Hospital.

Survivors include her husband, John Peterson, Rapid City; three daughters, Kathryn Derry, Patricia Tschetter and Brenda Graham, all of Rapid City; one stepson, Kevin Peterson of California; two brothers, Hubert Bietz and Leland Bietz, both of Rapid City; a sister, Priscilla Olsen, Mitchell; five grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.

Arrangements are pending with Behrens Mortuary of Rapid City.

Ethel L. Baatrup

RAPID CITY - Ethel L. Baatrup, 97, of Rapid City, died Sunday, March 11, 2001, at a local nursing home.

Ethel was born May 19, 1903, in Stanton, Neb. At the age of 3, she and her family moved to Owanka, where she was raised.

She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge since 1923 and held many offices over the years.

She is survived by her son, James Winchell, and his wife, Mary Helen, of Beatrice, Neb.; her daughter, Joyce Sharp, and her husband, Bob, of Rapid City; eight grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Earl W. Winchell; her mother and father, Ernest and Cora Carleton; two sisters, Grace Meyer and Leona Seaton.

Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 15, and from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. Friday, March 16, at Rooks & Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City.

Services are set for 11 a.m. Friday, March 16, at Rooks & Kirk Chapel of Light, with the Rev. Bob Wall officiating.

Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Rapid City.

Patrick L. Broderson

RAPID CITY - Patrick L. Broderson, 75, Rapid City, died Sunday, March 11, 2001, at a local nursing home.

Survivors include a son, Michael Broderson, Spokane, Wash.; a daughter, Patricia Fredzess, Las Vegas; and two sisters, Pearl Reynolds and Dorothy Istas, both of Rapid City.

Visitation will be half an hour before services on Friday at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Rapid City.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 16, at St. Isaac Jogues, with the Rev. John Hatcher, S.J., officiating.

Burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

Myrtle M. Anderson

FRUITDALE - Myrtle M. Anderson, 87, Fruitdale, died Sunday, March 11, 2001, at Belle Fourche Long Term Care Center.

Survivors include two daughters, Janice Williams, Fruitdale, and Karen Garre, Bozeman, Mont.; a sister, Hazel Harbig, Alexandria, Minn.; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday, and from 8 a.m. until the time of services Thursday, March 15.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 15, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, with Richard Harbur and Jeff Vogelsang officiating. Burial will be at 9 a.m. Friday, March 16, at Burke Cemetery.

CUSTER - Jennifer L. Collins, 24, Custer, died Monday, March 12, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Brian Jacob Lewis

ELLSWORTH AFB - Brian Jacob Lewis, 4 months, Ellsworth AFB, died Monday, March 5, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Survivors include his parents, Paul and Margaret Lewis, Ellsworth AFB; a brother, James Harrison Lewis, Ellsworth AFB; grandparents, Hazel Merryman, Las Vegas, Bill Joe and Barbara Ann Lewis, Phoenix, and Ynaith Kay Lewis, Choctaw, Okla.; and great-grandparents, Margaret Stout, Las Vegas, Harvey and Ynaith Lorraine Palmer, Choctaw, Okla.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Rapid City, with visitation one hour before services. Burial will be at a later date in Hurricane, Utah.

Virgil G. Salway

MARTIN - Virgil G. Salway, 60, Martin, died Monday, March 12, 2001, at the Salway residence in Martin.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Salway, Martin; three sons, Irvin Salway, Martin, and Richard and John Conquering Bear, both of Martin; two daughters, Carmen Salway, Rapid City, and Hope Conquering Bear, Martin; three sisters, Myrtle Howard and Sophie Last Horse, both of Martin, and Marlene Barnes, Las Vegas; two brothers, Leon Salway Jr., Hisle, and Larry Salway, Phoenix; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A two-night wake service will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Martin C.A.P. Building.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 16, at the Martin C.A.P. Building, with Capt. Gilford Noisy Hawk officiating. Burial will be at Grace Cemetery in Martin.

Robert E. Britton

HOT SPRINGS - Robert E. Britton, 76, Hot Springs, died Monday, March 12, 2001, at Veterans Affairs Hospital in Hot Springs.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Britton, Hot Springs; a son, Richard Britton, Hot Springs; two brothers, John "Richard" Britton, rural Hot Springs, and Charles Britton, Buffalo Gap; a sister, Karen McCleery, Rapid City; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rooks, Isburg, McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, March 19, at Rooks, Isburg, McColley's Chapel of the Hills, with the Rev. Peter Dahlberg officiating. Burial will be at Buffalo Gap Cemetery in Buffalo Gap.
