SPEARFISH - Charlotte Peyton, 86, Spearfish, and formerly of Deadwood, died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at David M. Dorsett Health Care Facility in Spearfish.

Survivors include one daughter, Marlene Perry, Deadwood; and one son, Richard Peyton, San Diego.

Arrangements are pending with Chaput Funeral Home of Deadwood and Lead.

Clarence B. Tammi

SPEARFISH - Clarence B. Tammi, 74, Spearfish, died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at David M. Dorsett Health Care Facility in Spearfish.

Survivors include his wife, Paulette Tammi, Spearfish; and two daughters, Jenee Mack, Lead, and Jenelle Fode, Byron, Minn.

Arrangements are pending with Carlsen & Aldinger Funeral Home of Spearfish.

Mary E. Urban

RAPID CITY - Mary E. Urban, 82, Rapid City, died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at her home.

Survivors include two sons, Bill Urban, Nemo, and James Urban, Manila, the Philippines; and one daughter, Sally Hernandez, Osceola, Ind.

Arrangements are pending with Osheim-Catron Funeral Home of Rapid City.

Charles Wharton

PIERRE - Charles Wharton, 70, Pierre, died Monday, April 2, 2001, at St. Mary's Hospital in Pierre.

Survivors include three sons, Duane Wharton, Pierre, Andy Wharton, Peona, Ariz., and Kevin Wharton, Sioux Falls; one daughter, Kim, Watertown; six grandchildren; and five brothers, David, Paul, Morris, James and Phillip; and three sisters, Betty, Sharon and Jo.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Pierre. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Pierre.

Hofmeister Chapels of Pierre is in charge of arrangements.

Ida 'Scotty' Melvin

RAPID CITY - Ida "Scotty" Melvin, 92, of Rapid City, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at a local nursing home.

Scotty was born Oct. 14, 1908, in Hot Springs to Perl and Martha (Sieg) Chambers. She graduated from high school at Hot Springs.

She married T. Edward "Eddie" Melvin on Oct. 28, 1933. They spent their married life in Rapid City. She worked as a cafeteria manager for Rapid City public schools for nearly 25 years. She was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church and a lifetime member of Eastern Star.

Scotty will always be remembered for her caring, compassionate feelings for others. She was a giving person, with kind words and deeds for all.

A special thanks to her "Cafeteria Girls" for all their love.

Survivors include her son, Thomas Edward Melvin Jr. of New York, N.Y.; her daughter, Carole Preszler of Rapid City; her grandson, Ian Preszler and his fiancee Christy Brandon of Kalispell, Mont.; two sisters, Ione Thorson of Okanogan, Wash., and Evelyn Sheridan and her husband, Phil, of Palmdale, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Mae Melvin and Helen Melvin, both of Rapid City; and a brother-in-law, Ray Versaw of Grand Junction, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie, on March 1, 2001; her parents; a brother, John; and two sisters, Ruby and Mary.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 9, at Osheim-Catron Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Miller officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at Mountain View Cemetery in Rapid City.

A memorial has been established to First Presbyterian Church.

Leo Wentz

RAPID CITY - Leo Wentz, 70, of Rapid City, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at a local nursing home.

Leo was born Aug. 1, 1930, in Barton, N.D., to Joseph and Philomina (Kremer) Wentz. He grew up and attended schools in the Esmond and Devil's Lake area. He entered the N.D. National Guard in 1949 and was activated and served in Heidleberg, Germany. On Sept. 13, 1954, he married Elaine Strand. The family lived in Crookston, Minn., for two years, San Bernadino, Calif., for 18 years, and in Rapid City since 1974.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Randy; and a brother, Wilbur.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine; a son, Roger, his wife, Gloria, and children Nathan, Nicholas and Ashley; a son, Bradley, his wife, Sandra, and children, Christopher and Steven, all of Rapid City; a daughter, Cheryl Schellinger, her husband, James, and children, Cody and Cassidy, Sheridan, Wyo.; a brother, Edward, and his wife, Katherine, of Sun Lake, Ariz.; and three sisters, Helen Hoistad and her husband, Albert, Frances Hager and Katherine Dinehart, all of Rapid City.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 8, at Osheim-Catron Funeral Home, with a Christian wake service at 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, April 9, at Blessed Sacrament Church, with the Rev. Michel Mulloy presiding. Interment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, with military honors provided by Rushmore VFW Post 1273. A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society.

Glen 'Bud' Allen

PLANKINTON - Glen "Bud" Allen, 86, Plankinton, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at Storla Sunset Home in Storla.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Allen, Plankinton; a son, Pat Allen, Rapid City; three daughters, Jayne Bastedo and Becky Warnke, both of Plankinton, and Mary Beth Pullen, Chamberlain; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 7, at Shearer Funeral Home in Plankinton. Burial will be at Mizpah Cemetery in Plankinton, with military honors by American Legion and VFW Post 6554 of Plankinton.

Harry H. Diekmann

RAPID CITY - Harry H. Diekmann, 85, Rapid City, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at a local nursing home.

He was born June 26, 1915, in the rural Gregory area and grew up in there. He married Lillian Vosika on June 9, 1940, at Butte, Neb. The couple farmed in the Bloomfield, Neb., area from 1944 until 1979. After retirement, the couple moved to Johnson Siding in the Black Hills. He loved gardening, woodworking and playing cribbage.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian P. Diekmann, Rapid City; four sons, James J. Diekmann, Denver, Robert L. Diekmann, Johnson Siding, Gary A. Diekmann, Juneau, Alaska, and Gene E. Diekmann, Denver; a daughter, Laraine L. Derr, Juneau; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Osheim-Catron Funeral Home.

Private family interment services will be at Pine Lawn Cemetery.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Community Center at Johnson Siding, with Rev. Charlie Hunt officiating.

Bob Moye Sr.

SPEARFISH- Bob Moye Sr. left town today for a family reunion and is not expected to return.

Bob is survived by his cherished daughter, Helen Duncan; and son, Bob Moye Jr.; his son-in-law, Ranny Duncan; and daughter-in law-Karen Moye.

Bob's legacy would be his incredible sense of humor, his passion for Glenn Miller and the Boston Red Sox, love for life and his overwhelming unconditional love for his six grandchildren, Kimberly (& Brian) Hartwig, Kristy (& Steve) Byrd, Heather (& Jr.) Janvrin, Heidi (& Randy) Parks, Scott Duncan and Abbie Moye.

At Bob Sr.'s request, private family interment has taken place at Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Fidler Funeral Chapel of Spearfish.

Bob Sr. would like to thank you all for your kindness and friendship and wants to leave you with, "Did you hear the one about. ..."

George H. Dutton

RAPID CITY - George H. Dutton, 78, Rapid City, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Westhills Village Health Care Center.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Dutton, Rapid City; a son, John Dutton, Plano, Texas; three daughters, Katie Spangler, Norwich, England, Peggy Graber, Castle Rock, Colo., and Melissa Poloncic, Gillette, Wyo; and eight

grandchildren.

Arrangements are pending with Osheim-Catron Funeral Home of Rapid City.

Roy Kramer

SPEARFISH - Roy Kramer, 69, Spearfish and formerly of Lead, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Kramer, Spearfish; two daughters, Linda Olson, Lead, and Joyce Schmuck, Littleton, Colo.; three sisters, Ruth Bauer, Sturgis, Grace Rumpca, Camby, Ore., and Monica Irwin, Denver; three brothers, Jim and Milton Kramer, both of Rapid City, and Dwayne Kramer, Bismarck, N.D.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Chaput Memorial Chapel in Lead.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 6, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Lead, with the Rev. Lloyd Miller officiating.

Clayton C. Shaw Jr.

LITTLETON, Colo. - Clayton C. Shaw Jr., 36, Littleton, died Friday, March 30, 2001, in Littleton.

Survivors include his father, Clayton Shaw Sr., Boulder; mother, Lorraine Tallman, Wanblee, S.D.; three brothers, Alvin Milk, Martin, S.D., Louis Shaw, Wanblee, and Melvin Milk, Fairbanks, Alaska; and four sisters, Caroline Richards, Allen, S.D., Zoey Shaw, Rapid City, Winnie Shaw, Denver, and Candra Shaw, Boulder.

First-night wake begins at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. John's Catholic Church in Allen. Second-night wake begins at 1 p.m. Friday, April 6, at Inestimable Gift Church in Allen.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 7, at Inestimable Gift Church in Allen, with the Rev. Joseph Damhorst, S.J., and the Rev. Daniel Makes Good officiating. Burial will be in the Salway Family Cemetery in Allen.

Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, S.D. is in charge of arrangements.

Augusta Huber

HERREID - Augusta Huber, 91, Herreid and formerly of the Akaska and Selby area, died Monday, April 2, 2001, at Good Samaritan Center in Herreid.

Survivors include one son, LeRoy Huber, Rapid City; one brother, Joe Buechler, California; two sisters, Delilah Albers, Seneca, and Ella Buechler, Spearfish; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, April 6, at Kesling Funeral Home in Mobridge, and one hour before services on Saturday.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 7, at Kesling Funeral Home in Mobridge, with the Rev. Del Neumeister officiating.

Burial will be at Akaska Cemetery.
