Herbert R. Martelon

RAPID CITY — Herbert R. Martelon, 92, Rapid City, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2001, at a Rapid City nursing home.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Elke Martelon, Littleton, Colo.; a son-in-law, Dean Lichty, Westbrook, Minn.; and four grandchildren.

Arrangements are pending with Osheim-Catron Funeral Home of Rapid City.

Robert Thomas 'Robbie' Ludeman

RAPID CITY — Robert "Robbie" Thomas Ludeman, 24, of Rapid City, died Saturday, August 4, 2001, at his home.

Robbie was born Sept. 15, 1976, in Rapid City to Jerry and Melva (Laity) Ludeman. He attended Grandview Elementary and South Junior High and graduated from Central High School in Rapid City in l995. He then attended Black Hills State University at Spearfish and graduated from Western Dakota Technical Institute with a degree in law enforcement in May of 1999.

He then worked as a ranger at Custer State Park and later at Menard's in Rapid City. Robbie took his oath of office with the Rapid City Police Department on August 1, 2001, realizing his childhood dream of becoming a policeman.

He was engaged to Leeann Barta of Sturgis on July 22, 2001, and they were planning to marry on May 25, 2002. His other loves were hunting, fishing, hiking, water skiing and his precious niece, Kyla Sky.

He is survived by his parents Jerry and Melva Ludeman of Rapid City; his twin sister, Heather Ludeman, and her fiancee Scott Jarvis, and their daughter Kyla Sky Jarvis, of Delta, Colo.; his fiancee, Leeann Barta, of Rapid City; and his grandparents, Evelyn Laity and Robert and Marybelle Ludeman, all of Rapid City.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather Tom Laity.

Visitation will be at Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and then at the church on Thursday before the services. A public prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Services are planned for 9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, at South Maple United Methodist Church in Rapid City, with the Rev. Tom Haggar officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Lawn Memorial Park in Rapid City, with full honors by the Rapid City Police Department.

The Robert Thomas Ludeman Memorial has been established to assist with a scholarship for the Law Enforcement Program at Western Dakota Technical Institute.

Daniel Lee Nafziger

WEST LINN, Ore. — Daniel Lee Nafziger, 69, died peacefully July 27, 2001, at his home in West Linn, Oregon.

Born in Spencer, S.D., he graduated from St. Martin's Academy in Sturgis. He spent five years in the Navy, then joined the Border Patrol, later becoming a U.S. Customs Inspector assigned to Portland, Ore. He retired in 1987.

Dan and his wife, the former Joulene Roberts, had four children, Douglas, Dana, Daniele and David, all of whom live in Oregon. Dan and Joulene traveled extensively until her death in October of 1998.

On August 5, 2000, Dan married Marie Pascoe Garrick of North Platte, Neb., a fellow graduate of St. Martin's. After traveling in Canada and Australia, they moved to Hot Springs, S.D., where they planned to build a home.

Dan is survived by his wife, four children, two stepchildren, one grandson, six stepgrandchildren, three brothers and four sisters.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 14, at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hot Springs, with the Rev. Peter Kovarik as celebrant.

Roy J. Nine

RAPID CITY — Roy J. Nine, 81, Rapid City, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at a Rapid City nursing home.

Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Sullivan, Willmar, Minn., and Cindy McCaslin, Denver; one brother, Robert Nine, Rapid City; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services, with military honors by Rushmore VFW Post 1273, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, with the Rev. H.B. Cleveland officiating.

Family and friends will meet at Osheim-Catron Funeral Home in Rapid City at 9:45 a.m. Thursday to proceed to the cemetery.

Dixie Jean Hiner

STURGIS — Dixie Jean Hiner, 74, Sturgis, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Survivors include one son, Walt Winder, Sturgis; one daughter, Carol Dyer, Casper, Wyo.; two sisters, Amy Pyzer, Oregon, and Betty Lange, North Platte, Neb.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, and for one hour before services at Calvary Baptist Church in Sturgis on Sunday.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the church, with the Rev. Bob Yantis officiating.

Burial will be at 3 p.m. CDT Monday, Aug. 13, at Miller Cemetery near Tryon, Neb.

Anna M. Fields

LEAD — Anna M. Fields, 92, Lead, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001, at Loving Care Group Home in Spearfish.

Arrangements are pending with Chaput Memorial Chapel of Lead.

Louise Charlotte Black Cat

ALLEN — Louise Charlotte Black Cat, 64, Allen, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, in Allen.

Survivors include one son, Les Bearnose, Allen; three daughters, Valerie Shots, Potato Creek, and Shirley May and Keneona Black Cat, both of Allen; one brother, Louis Richard, Allen; one sister, Bertha Conroy, Batesland, Neb.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A two-night wake will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at American Horse School in Allen.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at the school, with the Rev. Tom Nelson officiating. Jerome LeBeaux will officiate at traditional services.

Burial will be at Salway Family Cemetery in Allen.

Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge is in charge of arrangements.

M. JoAnne Reuwsaat

YANKTON — Marjorie JoAnne Reuwsaat, 67, Yankton, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton.

Survivors include two sons, Ricky Reuwsaat, Rapid City, and Michael Reuwsaat, Marana, Ariz.; three daughters, Cynthia White, Yankton, Catherine Stone, Chamberlain, and Patti Johnson, Spring Valley, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne Nichols, Wray, Colo., and Mickey O'Connell, Mason City, Iowa; and one sister, Pat Johnson of Littleton, Colo.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Christ Episcopal Church in Yankton, with the Rev. James Pearson officiating.

Inurnment will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Yankton.

Ray, Cantrell & Wintz Funeral Home of Yankton is in charge of arrangements.

Robert Thomas 'Robbie' Ludeman

RAPID CITY — Robert Thomas "Robbie" Ludeman, 24, Rapid City, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at his home.

Survivors include his parents, Jerry and Melva Ludeman, Rapid City; one sister, Heather Ludeman, Delta, Colo.; his fiancee, Leann Barta, Rapid City; and his grandparents, Evelyn Laity and Robert and Marybelle Ludeman, all of Rapid City.

Joyce Siedschlag

BLAINE, Minn. — Joyce Siedschlag, 59, Blaine and formerly of Watertown, S.D., died Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at her son's home in Blaine.

Survivors include four sons, John Siedschlag, Robert Siedschlag, Jeff Siedschlag and Steve Siedschlag; two daughters, Shelley and Sherrie; two stepdaughters, Debbie and Diane; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her mother and stepfather, Lillian and Harry Abraham; four sisters, Janice, Betty, Kim and Diana; and three brothers, Doug, Jeff and Rodney.

Services were held at Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown, with burial at Mount Hope Cemetery in Watertown.

Washburn, McReavy and Seaman Chapel of Minneapolis was in charge of arrangements.

Neil Wilma Bush

HULETT, Wyo. — Neil Wilma Bush, 91, Hulett, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at her home.

Survivors include one daughter, Victoria Bush, Hulett; and one son, Dean Bush, Hulett.

Arrangements are pending with Fidler-Roberts Funeral Chapel of Sundance.

Ione Jean Bad Cob

WANBLEE — Ione Jean Bad Cob, 64, Wanblee, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Survivors include three sons, Marvis Bad Cob, Wanblee, Samual Pretty Bear, Rapid City, and Donroy Bad Cob, Minneapolis; four daughters, Charlotte Eagle Staff and Bonita Blue Legs, both of Rapid City, Mavis Bad Cob, Wanblee, and Tisarera Bad Cob, Portland, Ore.; two brothers, Sylvester Bad Cob and Rede Bad Cob, both of Wanblee; four sisters, Sarah Standing Bear, Kadoka, and Rena Standing Bear, Agatha Tall Mandan and Betty Red Bird, all of Wanblee; 31 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A one-night wake will begain at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Crazy Horse School in Wanblee.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, at the school, with the Rev. Tom Nelson officiating.

Burial will be at Presbyterian Cemetery in Wanblee.

Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge is in charge of arrangements.

Malcolm B. Keir

RAPID CITY — Malcolm B. Keir, 72, Rapid City, died Friday, August 3, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

He was born December 28, 1928, in Craftsbury, Vt., to Frederick and Ada Mae (Willard) Keir.

His lifetime career was in the Air Force, and then he worked for Western Dakota Technical Institute.

He belonged to many different organizations: American Legion, 40-8, the VFW, a lifetime member of The Retired Enlisted Association, Air Force Sergeants Association and the Moose Club.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice; one son, Bruce; one brother, Stephen; and his parents.

He is survived by his stepdaughter, Mary Johnson, of Rapid City; one grandson, Christopher Johnson, of Colorado; one brother, Willard Keir, of Littleton, Vt.; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 8, 2001, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Behrens Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 9, 2001, at Behrens Funeral Home, with Reverend Bruce Baum officiating.

Burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

Military honors will be provided by The Retired Enlisted Association.
