SUNDANCE, Wyo. - Raymond Ardel Royer, 68, Sundance, and formerly of Pierre, S.D., and Philip, S.D., died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at Fort Meade Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Sturgis.

Survivors include his wife, Millie Royer, Newcastle, Wyo.; his mother, Alma Royer, Spearfish, S.D.; one son, Ray E. Royer, Rapid City; one daughter, Cindy L. Nelson, Hecla, S.D.; four brothers, Richard Royer, Spokane, Wash., Merle Royer, Belle Fourche, S.D., Lloyd Royer, Waukee, Iowa, and Gary Royer, Caldwell, Idaho; one sister, Wanyce Hein, Black Hawk, S.D.; and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday, July 29, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis and for one hour before services Monday, July 30, at the funeral chapel.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral chapel, with Chaplain Deb Geelsdotter officiating.

Burial with military honors will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

AraBelle E.J. Zeimet

EDGEMONT - AraBelle E.J. Zeimet, 83, Edgemont, died Thursday, July 26, 2001, at her home in Edgemont.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Jo Zeimet, Bellevue, Wash., and Lani Beck, Park City, Utah; one son, Peter Paul Zeimet, Reno, Nev.; and two grandchildren.

Arrangements are pending with Rooks-McColley's Funeral Chapel of Hot Springs.

Stephen E. Butler

RAPID CITY — Stephen E. Butler, 44, Rapid City, died Monday, July 23, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Butler, Rapid City; three sons, Tyler Butler and Nicholes Wiest, both of Rapid City, and Patrick Butler, Sioux Falls; two daughters, Lacey Butler and Lucinda Butler, both of Rapid City; his mother, Alice Butler, Rapid City; his father and stepmother, Robert and Violet Butler, Rapid City; one brother, Robert Butler Jr., Rapid City; one sister, Marilyn Cheek, Ashville, N.C.; one granddaughter; one stepbrother, Rodney Neisent, Rapid City; and two stepsisters, Linda Birdwell and Jo Ellen Lepine, both of Rapid City.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at Behrens Funeral Home in Rapid City and for one hour before services Friday, July 27, at the funeral home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Duane Duley officiating.

Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Rapid City.

Jesse J. Ozuna

BELLE FOURCHE — Jesse J. Ozuna, 46, Belle Fourche, died Monday, July 23, 2001, at Lookout Memorial Hospital in Spearfish.

Survivors include one son, Jesse James Ozuna Jr., Austin, Minn.; one daughter, Tina Ozuna; four brothers, David Alcanter, Roger Ozuna and Larry Ozuna, all of Belle Fourche, and Kenneth Alcanter, Mora, Minn.; four sisters, Linda Clark, Sandstone, Minn., Vicki Hopkins, Anoka, Minn., Rose Grusing, Sheridan, Wyo., and Beverly Ulrich, Belle Fourche; and one granddaughter.

Visitation will be for one hour before services today at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Belle Fourche.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. today at the church.

Burial will follow at Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche.

Kline-Frost Funeral Chapel of Belle Fourche is in charge of arrangements.

Harold ‘Kelly' Wachter

PRESHO — Harold "Kelly" Wachter, 91, Presho, died Monday, July 23, 2001, at St. Mary's Sub-Acute Healthcare Center in Pierre.

Survivors include three sisters, Ina England, Presho, Hazel Ellis, Patch Grove, Wis., and Dorice Van Vorst, St. Paul, Minn.; and six brothers, Russell Wachter, Louis Wachter, Donald Wachter, Mike Wachter and Herman Wachter Jr., all of Woodman, Wis., and Kenneth Wachter, Fennimore, Wis.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Isburg-Hofmeister Funeral Chapel in Presho.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 27, at Presho United Methodist Church.

Burial will be at Murdo Cemetery.

Isburg-Hofmeister Funeral Chapel of Pierre is in charge of arrangements.

Zella Juanita Larsen

WINNER — Zella Juanita Larsen, 88, Winner, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at Winner Regional Nursing Home.

Survivors include four daughters, Evelyn Farley, Carter, Patricia Clausen, Burke, Sena Lauritsen, Wood, and Mary Fisher, Winner; 21 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, July 27, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Mason Funeral Home in Winner.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28, at United Methodist Church in Winner.

Burial will be at Winner Cemetery.

Lucy M. Hall

CHADRON, Neb. — Lucy M. Hall, 91, Chadron, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at Chadron Community Hospital.

Survivors include one son, Robert Hall, Porcupine, S.D.; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A rosary service will be at 7 p.m. today at St. Patrick's Church in Chadron.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 27, at the church, with the Rev. Robert Karnish officiating.

Burial will be at Slim Buttes Cemetery, Slim Buttes, S.D.

Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron is in charge of arrangements.

Kathryn A. ‘Katie' Kelly

RAPID CITY — Kathryn A. "Katie" Kelly, 75, Rapid City, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Katie was born May 8, 1926, in Rapid City, to Tom H. and Agnes (Kelly) Johnston. She grew up in the Rapid City area and graduated from Rapid City High School in 1944. She also attended St. Catherine's College in St. Paul, Minn., and Briar Cliff College in Sioux City, Iowa.

Katie married John P. Kelly on September 18, 1952, in Rapid City. They made their home in Rapid City, where Katie was later employed at Johnston-Bordewyk, Inc. (printing company), St. Therese Church and Blessed Sacrament Church.

She enjoyed time with her Yorkshire terrier pets over the years and especially liked visiting with friends and family. Katie was loved by many and will be greatly missed by her friends and family.

Survivors include her two daughters, Kathleen Johnson and her husband Dennis of Rapid City, and Suzanne Stump and her husband Lee of Kansas City, Missouri; her three sons, Thomas Kelly and his wife Sue of Miles City, Mont., Steven Kelly and his wife Kathy of Auburndale, Fla., and Sean Kelly of Portland, Ore.; a sister-in-law, Margaret Johnston of Rapid City; and eleven grandchildren, Chad, Kristann, Angel, Alesha, Jeremiah, Sarah, Cody, Alyssa, T.J., Eamon and Nicholas.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. today, Thursday, July 26, at the Osheim-Catron Funeral Home, with a Christian wake service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 27, at the Immaculate Conception Church (5th Street at South Street) in Rapid City, with Rev. William Zandri as the celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Rapid City. A memorial has been established.

Eugene ‘Bud' Abraham

LACLEDE, Idaho — Eugene "Bud" Abraham, 79, passed away Monday, July 23, 2001, at his home in Laclede, Idaho.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at Coffelt's Moon Chapel, with Pastor Dan Moore of the Laclede Community Church officiating. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park under the auspices of VFW Post No. 2453. Viewing for family and friends will be held Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Moon Chapel.

Bud was born November 18, 1921, in Mitchell, South Dakota, to John and Grace (Walker) Abraham. At age six, the family moved to Rapid City, where Bud grew up and attended schools.

Bud served in the U.S. Army for a short time during WWII. During his younger years, he worked away from home on different construction jobs. In 1963, he went to work for the Civil Service as a grounds-keeping superintendent. He retired in 1982 after receiving several awards.

Bud married Rusty Sweet on November 4, 1995, at the Laclede Community Church. The couple moved from Rapid City to Laclede in April of 1996.

Bud was a member of the Laclede Community Church, the American Legion and was a Past Governor of the Moose Lodge in Rapid City, S.D. He also belonged to the American Cribbage Congress, the Grassroots Cribbage Club and a Gin Rummy Club. He enjoyed playing cards, hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Rusty Abraham, Laclede, Idaho; his son, David (Mary) Harding, Arvada, Colo.; his six stepchildren, Bill Suchta, Laclede, Idaho, Rusty (Rob) Clayburn, Laclede, Idaho, Vicky (Ron) Elisalada, Moreno Valley, Calif., Robert (Cindy) Wootton, Renton, Wash., Ray (Raeann) Suchta, Phoenix, Ariz., and Ann Renfroe, Anaheim, Calif.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Arthur J. Shepersky

RAPID CITY — Arthur J. Shepersky, 75, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at Bella Vista Nursing Home. He was a former longtime resident of Lead, S.D.

Arthur was born September 27, 1925, to John and Mary Shepersky in Linton, N.D. Arthur married Esther Strobel in 1952. They resided in Deadwood, S.D. Arthur worked for Homestake Mining Company in Lead, S.D., from 1956 until his retirement in 1987. Arthur always enjoyed spending time in his garage working on cars.

Survivors include three daughters, Betty Millard and husband Neil, Box Elder, Debra Loghry and husband Larry, Reno, Nev., and Sharon Lord of Reno, Nev.; four sons, Donald Shepersky and wife Francis, Rapid City, Tim Shepersky, Reno, Nev., Mark Shepersky and wife Shauna, Reno, Nev., and Danny Shepersky; eight grandchildren, Tanya and Christy Shepersky, Jeffrey and Jennifer Millard, Ashley and Kaitlyn Loghry, and Bobby and Lydia Davis; and one sister-in-law, Martha Shepersky and her son, Clark Shepersky, with his wife, Betty, and their two children, Kevin and Delmar.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary; his wife Esther; three brothers, Clarence, Albert and Leis; and granddaughter Samantha.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. at Fidler Funeral Chapel, Lead, S.D., on Saturday, July 28, 2001. Visitation will be for one hour before the service. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Deadwood immediately following services.

Selma Grable

KADOKA — Selma Grable, 90, Kadoka, died Saturday, July 21, 2001, at Kadoka Care Center.

Survivors include one son, Rich Grable Sr., Kadoka; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ervie Hogen, Sundance, Wyo.

Visitation will be for one hour before services Monday, July 30, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Kadoka.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Jill Jackson officiating.

Burial will be at South Creek Cemetery near Kadoka.

Rush Funeral Chapel of Kadoka is in charge of arrangements.

LaVern A. Ekstrom

CUSTER — LaVern A. Ekstrom, 57, Custer, died Monday,

July 23, 2001, in the Bighorn Mountains.

Ekstrom was born September 26, 1943, in Cherokee County, Iowa, to Arvid and Alice (Iverson) Ekstrom.

He was the buffalo-herd manager for Custer State Park.

Survivors include his mother, Alice Ekstrom, Peterson, Iowa; wife Cinda Ekstrom, Custer; son Daniel Ekstrom, Custer; stepson Shane Hauschen, Sioux Rapids, Iowa; two daughters, Deb Clark, Custer, and Tanya Gaer and husband Greg, Irwin, Iowa; two brothers, Richard Ekstrom, Aurelia, Iowa, and Marvin Ekstrom, Dayton, Georgia; and six grandchildren, Kaleb Clark, Hope Clark, Grace Gaer, Ryan Hauschen, Jessica Hauschen and Daniel Hauschen.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2001, at the Southern Hills Church of Christ in Custer, with Mr. Dean Stewart officiating.

Arrangements have been placed in the care of Rooks-McColley's Chapel of Custer.
