Martin Kramer
CROFTON, Neb. -- Martin J. Kramer, 85, Crofton, Neb., died Monday (Jan. 22, 2001) at the Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton.
A funeral mass is at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Crofton, Neb., with Rev. Bob English officiating. Burial will be in the St. Joseph's Cemetery, Constance, Neb.
Pallbearers will be Joe Newman, Matt Newman, Brian Kramer, Michael Kramer, Jeff Addison, Dan Addison, Ryan Addison, Carl Addison, Michael Kuchta, Brandon Kathol, Corey Kramer, Justin Kelley and Jesse Kelley.
Visitation is from 3-9 p.m. Wednesday at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Crofton, with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m.
Wintz Funeral Home, Crofton, is in charge of the arrangements.
He was born Sept. 3, 1915, at Hartington, Neb., to Julius and Mary (Sudbeck) Kramer. He grew up in the Hartington area and farmed with his dad until his marriage to Mildred Mathilda Arens Jan. 21, 1941. He then moved to Crofton where he farmed until retiring in 1996.
He belonged to the St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Constance, and was an active choir member and lector for many years. He was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. He was an avid baseball player and fan and pitched on various area teams.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Kramer, Hartington; nine children: Gary Kramer, Bloomfield, Neb.; Mary Lou (John) Addison, Newcastle, Neb.; LaDonna (Tom) Kuchta, Crofton; Rose (Keith) Newman, Lawton, Iowa; Francis (Deb) Kramer, Crofton; Randy (Sandy) Kramer, Yankton; Gerri Lynn (Eugene) Pinkelman, Wynot, Neb.; John (Sue) Kramer, Hartington; Marty (Bonnie) Kramer, Hartington; 38 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, Roman Kramer, Crofton; and one sister, Elsie Elliott, Hartington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sons, three brothers and two sisters.
Berniece Delaney
VERMILLION -- Berniece H. Delaney, 78, Vermillion, died Monday (Jan. 22, 2001) at the Sioux Valley Vermillion Care Center, Vermillion.
Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Vermillion, with the Rev. Judith Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Bluff View Cemetery, Vermillion.
Visitation is from 3-7:30 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Iverson-Siecke Funeral Home, Vermillion, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
She was born Feb. 28, 1922, at Viborg to Gustaf and Ana Johnson. She graduated from Meckling High School, Meckling. She married Martin Delaney March 17, 1942. She and her husband farmed near Volin. He died March 13, 1971. After his death, she remained on the farm until 1972 when she moved into Vermillion. She was a nurses aide at the Dakota Care Center for 29 1/2 years, retiring in 1991. She was a resident of the care center for about two years.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Vermillion, and the Vermillion VFW Auxiliary.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara (Richard) Ellis, Madison; two sons: Bradley, Volin; and Larry, Vermillion; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Myrtle Larson and Evelyn Styles, both of Vermillion.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, two brothers and three sisters.

Lillian H. Silva
Lillian "Toots" Silva, of Yankton, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2001, at age 88 years, 8 months, and 12 days, in Yankton.
Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2001, at the Kostel Funeral Chapel, Yankton, with Rev. Erika Lehmann officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Volin. Kostel Funeral Home, Yankton, is in charge of arrangements.
Lillian Helen Thompson was born May 8, 1912, at rural Volin, South Dakota, to Thomas C. and Anna I. (Lien) Thompson. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church and received her elementary education at Central School, both of rural Volin.
Her father died when she was six years of age, and Lillian, her mother and several of her siblings continued to reside at the family farm and for several years Lillian assisted other families with housekeeping and child care. She spent an extended period of time with her sister Alice Vognild caring for her family due to Alice's health condition.
In March 1939, she and her mother moved to Volin and later she became employed at John Morrell and Company in Sioux Falls living there until 1952 when she moved to northern California and was employed in several canneries over a number of years until her retirement.
On March 31, 1963, she married Jack Silva at Reno, Nevada. They made their home in San Jose, Calif., and later Ceres, Calif. Her husband died March 12, 1997.
Lillian returned to Yankton in August 1998, and resided at Memory Lane apartments. She was very handy with tools, enjoyed crafts, visits with family, shopping, walking, and also rummage and antique sales. She had no children of her own but her nieces and nephews were special to her.
She is survived by a sister, Delma Hanson of Mission Hill, S.D.; sister-in-law, Alice Thompson, Irene, S.D.; nieces, Deodota Cowley, Ann LaMoyne, Jean Milless, Verna Nelson, Norma Ayers, Marlene Erickson, Marlys List; nephews, Donald Thompson, Gene Vognild, Darrell Vognild, Thomas Thompson, David Thompson, Gordon Thompson, Roger Hanson, LaRue Hanson and Milan Hanson and many great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Clarence, Oliver, Elmer, Merlin and Ernest Thompson; and sisters, Alice Vognild and Lillie, who died in infancy.

Arlene Reis
RELIANCE -- Arlene Mary Helen Reis, 84, Reliance, died Thursday (Jan. 30, 2003) at Sunset Valley Haven Nursing Home, Chamberlain.
Funeral service is 2 p.m. Monday at the Zion Lutheran Church, Chamberlain, with the Rev. Daryl Tompkins officiating. Burial is in the Riverview Cemetery, Chamberlain.
Visitation is from 1-6 p.m. Sunday with the family present from 4-6 p.m. at the Wevik Funeral Chapel, Chamberlain.
She was born March 9, 1918, at St. Paul, Minn., to Oscar and Freda (Paul) Krech. She was confirmed March 20, 1932, at the St. Paulus Lutheran Church, St. Paul. She was a 1935 graduate of the South St. Paul High School, St. Paul. After high school, she worked at Webb Publishing and later at Montgomery Wards. She worked on Montgomery Wards entry in the St. Paul Winter Carnival Parade. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy July 9, 1943, and attended school in New York and Oklahoma. She served as an aviation machinist mate working with the Advanced Trainer Airplanes at the Naval Air Field, Pensacola, Fla. She was honorably discharged Nov. 13, 1945. After her discharge, she returned home at work at the 3M Corporation in Minnesota. She purchased land in Wisconsin along the St. Crois River where her father built a cabin for the family. She enjoyed traveling, making a trip to California with her cousin in a Crosley. She married Dennis Mylon Reis Sept. 3, 1952, at the Hope Lutheran Church, St. Paul. After their marriage, the moved to an isolated ranch with no phone, no electricity and miles from a paved road. During their semi-retirement years, they enjoyed traveling, especially with Ed and Edith Jarousek. Her husband died April 17, 1997. She continued to live on the ranch until May of 2002, when she moved to Sunset Valley Haven Nursing Home, Chamberlain.
She enjoyed crafts, especially sewing Barbie doll clothing.
She is survived by her son, Will (Pam) Reis, Reliance; one brother, Dwane "Jack" Krech, Doylestown, Pa.; one sister, Edith Jarousek, New Port, Minn.; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son and one brother.
Keith Beilby
Keith Beilby, 85, Yankton, died Thursday (Jan. 30, 200) at Avera Sister James Care Center, Yankton.
Services will be publicized at a later date.

Mynard Huether
TRIPP --Mynard Jacob Huether, 62, Tripp, died Saturday (Feb. 1, 2003) at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls.
Funeral service is 2 p.m. Wednesday at Frieden's Reformed United Church of Christ, Tripp, with the Rev. Greg Way officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are Marlin Holzworth, Myron Holzworth, Kevin Huether, Tyler Huether, Craig Sedlacek, Glenn Vogel, Brinda Huether and Carla Schoenfisch.
Visitation is from 3-9 p.m. today (Tuesday) with a 7 p.m. prayer service at the Goglin-Kelley Memorial Chapel, Tripp.
He was born May 27, 1940, in Tripp, to Ludwig and Emma (Stoebner) Huether. He worked in many successful sales roles after graduating from Tripp High School in 1958 and serving in the South Dakota National Guard until 1962. During his last 10 years, his love for tools, antiques, dishware and his gift of gab were combined when he established his business, Mynard's Midwest Memories.
He married Diane (Guthmiller) Reese in August 1961. They were later divorced, but remained friends.
He rarely missed a game, no matter girls or boys, no matter the sport, and no matter the team. However, the Tripp Wildcats will remember Mynard as their greatest fan.
He is survived by his children: Mike (Cindy) Huether, Sioux Falls; Gregg (Jenny) Huether, Charlotte, N.C.; Vicki (Randy) Foederer, Richardson, Texas; Vaughn (Monica) Huether, Brandon; eight grandchildren; his siblings: Melvin Huether, Velda Holzworth, Bernice Schoenfisch, Fran Vogel and Roger Huether, along with his twin brother, Maynard Huether.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers-in-law and one niece.
Memorials in his memory will be established and can be directed to any family member.
Florence Puetz
DIMOCK -- Florence Julia Puetz, 91, Dimock, died Sunday (Feb. 9, 2003) at the Tripp Good Samaritan Center.
Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Dimock. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is from 2-5 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Koehn Bros. Funeral Home, Parkston. Prayer service is 7:30 p.m. today at the church.
She was born Sept. 5, 1911, at Beresford, to Joseph and Julia (Fitzgerald) Vittetoe. She lived with her family at Beresford, Yankton and Mitchell. She married Lawrence J. Puetz Feb. 24, 1930, at Mitchell. She lived on a farm near Ethan until 1980, when she moved to Dimock. In 1999, she moved to the Good Samaritan Center, Tripp.
While living on the farm, she worked as a nurse's aid at the former St. Joseph Hospital and was a charter member of the Senior Citizens of Ethan. She was an active member of the American Legion and VFW Auxiliary. She was also an active member of the Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of America and the Fatima Club in Dimock. For years she contributed to the education of a man in India studying to be a priest.
She is survived by five sons: DeWight (Grace) Puetz, Box Elder; Norman (Diana) Puetz, Florissant, Colo.; Joe (Helen) Puetz, Ethan; Dan Puetz, Aurora, Colo.; and Pat (Linda) Puetz, San Bernadino, Calif.; 13 daughters: Donna Mae (Dick) Nicolay, Eagan, Minn.; Ruth (Dwight) McClaskey, New Underwood; Phyllis (Don) Hoffman, Black Hawk; Theresa Erpenbach, Norwood, Minn.; Rose (Don) Beebe, Rapid City; Carol (Gerald) Schoenfelder, Tripp; Elizabeth Winter, Haltom City, Texas; Timothea (Tim) Murtha, Bartlesville, Okla.; Joyce (John) Guggans, Keller, Texas; Rebecca Puetz, Aurora, Colo.; Jane (Ken) Hoff, Pueblo, Colo.; Cynthia (Tom) Schlimgen, Scotland; and Maureen Julie (Bill) Oakley, Mitchell; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Rose Olwell, Mitchell; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, one son-in-law, two grandsons, one great-grandson, one great-granddaughter, five sisters and four brothers.
Robert Petersen
AVON -- Robert Lee Petersen, 61, Avon, died Friday (March 14, 2003) at St. Michael's Hospital, Tyndall.
Memorial Sservices are 1 p.m. Thursday, at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis.
Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Chapel, Avon, is in charge of arrangements.
He was born July 29, 1941 at Deadwood to Levi and Patricia (Gage) Petersen. He attended grade school at Avon and graduated from Spearfish High School in 1959. He served in the U.S. Navy from May 1959 to July 1962. He was assigned to the USS Courtney and served as a Boilerman 2nd Class. He married Leota J. Kortum Jan. 19, 1966, at Deadwood. He worked as a machinist and welder for a few years and had been a professional truck driver for most of his life. He was diagnosed with cancer on July 12, 2002.
He will be remembered for his enjoyment of assembling model trucks and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Leota Jean Petersen, Avon; mother, Patricia Petersen, Rapid City; two brothers: Tom Petersen, Rapid City, and Jim Petersen, Gillette, Wyo.; and two sisters: Judy Schoenfelder, Rapid City, and Lee Ann Baumgartner, Sioux Falls.
He was preceded in death by his father and a sister-in-law.

Kathryn O'Brien
Kathryn O'Brien, age 37, of Yankton and formerly of Huron, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2003, of a sudden illness at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, S.D.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Yankton with the Rev. John Fischer officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday, April 7, 2003, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. followed by a scripture service at 7:30 p.m. at the Kostel Funeral Home, Yankton.
Pallbearers will be Mark O'Brien, Rick O'Brien, Randy O'Brien, Brad O'Brien, Jim O'Brien, Julie Steiner, Dixie Patterson and Troy Schaffer. Honorary pallbearers will be Tabitha and Tanner Wooledge.
Kathy was born June 26, 1965, in Osmond, Neb., to Richard and Edith (Buschkamp) O'Brien. She grew up in Yankton and graduated from high school in 1983. She married Randy Wooledge July 3, 1983, and moved to Huron, S.D., where she lived and raised children, Tabitha, 18, and Tanner, 14 She worked for the Huron post office for the last nine years of her stay there. Kathy and Randy divorced in March 2002. In January 2003, she returned to Yankton, where she began a new life with family and special friend, Troy Schaffer. Kathy will be remembered as a caring, lively, and fun-loving woman who loved to play cards, dance, and meet new people. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
Kathy is survived by her children, Tabitha and Tanner, Sioux Falls; her parents, Richard and Edith, Yankton; five brothers; one sister; eight nieces and nephews: Mark, his daughter, Missy; Brad (Beth) and their children Shane and Kelli; Jim (Brenda) and their children Tasha and Taylor, all of Yankton; Rick (Lisa) and unborn son, Connor, Rincon, Ga.; Randy (Lori) and their children Shaun and Garrett, Huntsville, Ark.; and Julie (Kenneth) Steiner, Forest Lake, Minn.; and three very special friends, Troy Schaffer and daughter Cassie, Yankton and Dixie Patterson, Huron.
Kathy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Arthur and Florence O'Brien and Mathias and Elvera Buschkamp.
