Patricia Ann O'Rourke

AURORA, Colo. - Patricia Ann O'Rourke, 66, Aurora and formerly of Rapid City, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, in Denver.

Survivors include her husband, Del O'Rourke, Aurora; three daughters, Teri Helm and Kellie Banisky, both of Steamboat Springs, and Colleen Sanchez, Centennial; one son, Mike O'Rourke, Centennial; seven grandchildren; her mother, Viola Tandy, Aurora; and one brother.

Services were held Monday, Jan. 21, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Englewood, Colo.

Memorials may be made to Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers Foundations, Attn.: Ginny, 44 Cook St., Suite 700, Denver, CO 80206.

Stork Family Mortuary of Lakewood, Colo., was in charge of arrangements.

Doyle Lars Hayworth

CARLILE, Wyo. - Doyle Lars Hayworth, 87, Carlile, Wyo., died January 18, 2002, at his ranch near Carlile, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2002, at Fidler-Roberts Funeral Chapel, Sundance, and one hour prior to services at the church in Carlile.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2002, at the Pine Ridge Church, Carlile, with Rev. Chancey Woodbury officiating. Burial will follow at the Moorcroft Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for Crook County Hospice.

Doyle was born July 31, 1914, in Chambers, Neb., to William and Allie (Dixon) Hayworth. In 1937, he moved to Carlile with his parents, brothers, and one sister. His father, brothers, and himself operated a sawmill and cut railroad ties for the railroad.

Doyle married Violet Louise Cushman from Erickson, Neb., on January 15, 1938, in Deadwood, S.D. In 1939, the couple purchased a ranch north of Carlile and began their family. He continued ranching and working on construction projects until he retired in 1996. Doyle remained on the ranch until his death.

Grateful for having shared in Doyle's life are seven sons, Jack Hayworth, Gillette, Wyo., Derald Hayworth, Carlile, Wyo., Roger Hayworth, Dan Hayworth and Tim Hayworth, all of Seattle, Wash., Verlin (and Marcia) Hayworth, Carlile, and Cy (and Vicki) Hayworth, Rapid City, S.D.; three daughters, Wanda Hayworth and Susie Hayworth, both of Sulton, Wash., and Sarah Roth, White Swan, Wash.; one brother, Melvin Hayworth, Moorcroft, Wyo.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his three faithful dogs, Longarm, Ted, and Doyle.

Doyle was preceded in death by wife Violet, his parents, four brothers, three sisters, two grandchildren, and two nephews.

Arrangements have been placed in the care of Fidler-Roberts Funeral Chapel, Sundance.

Daisy Myers

RAPID CITY - Longtime Rapid City resident Daisy Myers passed away peacefully on January 19, 2002, at Bella Vista Nursing Home. A homemaker and member of the First Presbyterian Church, Daisy lived her entire life of 91 years within 50 miles of Rapid City.

Daisy was born April 28, 1910, to Henry and Ethel Charlton on a ranch northeast of Wasta, S.D. When she was young, the family moved to a 600-acre homestead north of Wasta near the Cheyenne River. She attended Riverside School, a one-room country school, for eight years. They lived on the homestead until Daisy was about 15 years old, when she moved by wagon to Rapid City with her parents, brother Reeford and sister Arlene.

At the age of 18, she married J.F. (Fred) Myers on October 6, 1928, in Belle Fourche, S.D. They were married 71 years, raising a son and daughter.

Daisy is survived by her son, Don Myers and his wife, Estelle, of Rapid City, S.D., and daughter Glenda Carter and her husband, Carroll, of Fort Smith, Ariz.

She was a "Gram" and "Ammie" to her grandchildren, Dale Myers of Garretson, S.D., David Myers, Carol Brady, Candice William and Christine Myers, all of Rapid City, S.D., Mark Carter of Elbert, Colo., and Deana Carter-Smith of Bellevue, Neb.; great-grandchildren Alan, Lee, Ryan, Aubrey, Roman, Justin, Miranda, Kevin, Crystal, Hope and Rebecca; step-great-grandchildren Shawn, Cory and Nathan; and several great-great-grandchildren. She also is survived by sister Arlene Johnson of Rapid City, S.D.; sisters-in-law Gladys Charlton of Rapid City, S.D., Janice Myers of Everett, Wash., June Johnson of Lithis, Fla., and Marie Brubeck and Tillie Chancellor of Humansville, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother.

Daisy will be remembered as a very special Mom by her children and a much-loved "Gram" and "Ammie" by all her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Honorary pallbearers are the grandsons and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 23, 2002, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Behrens Mortuary.

Graveside services will be Thursday, January 24, 2002, at 10:30 a.m. at the Mountain View Cemetery, with Dr. J. David Miller officiating.

Memorials may be given to either the First Presbyterian Church or the Minneluzahan Senior Citizens Center.

Dorothy C. Williams

WESSINGTON - Dorothy C. Williams, age 89, of Wessington, S.D., died Saturday, January 19, 2002, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home in Huron. Her funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 23, at the First Presbyterian Church at Wessington, with Rev. Allen Sager officiating. Burial will be at the Wessington Cemetery. Friends may call this Tuesday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Wednesday morning. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. this Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Dorothy C. Otto was born on January 31, 1912, to Frank and Louise (Arends) Otto at Vayland, S.D. She attended grade school at the Otto School.

On February 8, 1931, she married Arnold H. "Bud" Williams at Huron, S.D. They farmed in the Wessington area until 1936, when they moved to California. In 1941, the family returned to South Dakota and farmed in Hand County until 1990.

Dorothy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wessington, and a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She loved to dance, sew, do crafts, and was an avid reader. Dorothy entered the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home in September of 2001.

She is survived by one daughter, LuAnne (Leonard) Fritzsche of Wessington; one son, Douglas (Mary) Williams of Black Hawk; four grandchildren, Kevin Fritzsche, Jeff Fritzsche, Todd (Gail) Williams and Krista (Will) Nuttall; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband "Bud" on February 24, 1999; one granddaughter, Jonna Williams; six sisters; and two brothers.

Casket bearers will be Kevin Fritzsche, Jeff Fritzsche, Jason Fritzsche, Todd Williams, Heath Williams and Gary Williams.

Henry C. Blom

RAPID CITY - Henry "Hank" C. Blom, 81, Rapid City, died Sunday, January 20, 2002, at Fort Meade VA Medical Center in Sturgis.

Henry Blom was born at Corral, Idaho, on November 19, 1920, to Adrian and Antje (De Vries), immigrants from Holland to Utah. Henry grew up in Leadore, Idaho. On September 18, 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as Gunner's Mate First Class on the USS Enright, a convoy destroyer ship, until he was honorably discharged on October 14, 1945. During his enlistment, he sailed both the Atlantic and Pacific, crossing the ocean many times. He was a carpenter and a heavy- equipment operator, helping to build most of the roads in the Robbinsdale area. Before retirement, Henry worked as a skidder operator, logging the Black Hills. Henry loved fishing, gardening and woodworking. His family will cherish the many gifts he crafted in his wood shop.

Survivors include two daughters, Nicola Geary, Rapid City, and Susan Albers, Rapid City; three brothers, Rolen "Bob" Blom, Burns, Ore., Fred Blom, Leadore, Idaho, and Adrian Blom, Anaconda, Mont.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A private burial will be held at Black Hills National Cemetery on Thursday, January 24, 2002. He will be buried together with his wife, Agnes Blom, who preceded him in death on January 31, 2001.

Kirk Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Arlene Kallas

RAPID CITY - Arlene Kallas left her place on earth January 19, 2002. Her presence will be truly missed by all that knew and loved her. Arlene left us all too quickly and quite unexpectedly at her special private home with her husband, Wendell, always at her side. Right next to her was her sister Jean and the Phil Burt family. Arlene and Wendell were also surrounded in love by their closest family members and friends.

Arlene lived most of her life in Rapid City and lived life to the fullest. She spent the past 24 years employed at Horace Mann Elementary School as a dedicated, respected, and deeply loved teacher. Teaching was the passion of her life. Obtaining her Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction in 1993 was just one of her educational accomplishments. Arlene also greatly enjoyed the outdoors, her beloved dogs, travel and reading.

Arlene and Wendell have spent the past eight years of their lives devoted to each other. Her love for life has touched the lives and hearts of each and every member of her entire extended family. Of equal importance were close and personal friends, professional colleagues and countless numbers of students and their families.

A "Celebration of Her Life" will be held on Tuesday, January 22, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Osheim-Catron Funeral Home, located at 2700 Jackson Blvd.

In lieu of flowers, "A Living Memorial" has been established in her name. Memorials may be sent to Horace Mann Elementary School in care of Linda Williams.

Arthur Nelson

DEADWOOD - Arthur Nelson, 93, Deadwood, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at Northern Hills General Hospital in Deadwood.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol Wuitschick, Central City, and Betty Ann Lehto, Abilene, Texas; three sons, Arnold Nelson, Borrego Springs, Calif., and Art Nelson Jr. and Bob Nelson, both of Lead; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Bertha Lay, Montana, Martha Erickson, Minnesota, and Beula Wanhanen, Elk Creek; and two brothers, Edward Nelson, Stillwater, Minn., and Johnnie Nelson, Spearfish.

His wife, Ruby King Nelson, preceded him in death.

There will be no visitation.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at Chaput Memorial Chapel in Lead, with the Rev. Steve Agan officiating.

Inurnment will be at Bear Butte Cemetery in Sturgis.

A memorial has been established to American Cancer Society.

Lois Shull

CUSTER - Lois Shull, 84, Custer, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Custer.

Arrangements are pending with Rooks-McColley Funeral Chapel of Custer.

Lillian B. Siers

NEWCASTLE, Wyo. - Lillian B. Siers, 89, Newcastle, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at Weston County Health Services in Newcastle.

Survivors include five sons, Frank, Pine Ridge, S.D., Ted, Chadron, Neb., Reggie, Whitefish, Mont., Orville, Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Kenny, Foxborough, Mass.; six daughters, Darlene, Phoenix, Donnarose, Dori and Patty, all of Newcastle, Gloria, Reno, Nev., and Adele, Canon Falls, Minn.; and one brother, George Allman, Rapid City; 64 grandchildren; and 108 great-grandchildren.

A traditional one-night wake service will begin at 7 p.m. today at the VFW Hall in Newcastle.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Greenwood Cemetery in Newcastle, with the Rev. Ken Pitlick officiating.

Worden Funeral Directors of Newcastle is in charge of arrangements.

Max E. Wagoner

KADOKA - Max E. Wagoner, 76, Kadoka, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Survivors include one son, Dan Wagoner, Oakland, Ore.; two grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and four sisters.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at Rush Funeral Chapel in Kadoka, and for one hour before services, which will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Kadoka Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Gary McCubbin officiating.

Burial with military honors will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

Edward A. Lanning

BELLE FOURCHE - Edward A. Lanning, 89, Belle Fourche, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Ursula Lanning, Belle Fourche; one son, Danny Lanning, Hammond, Mont.; one daughter, Sherry Zimmerschied, Belle Fourche; one brother, William Lanning, Sundance, Wyo.; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are pending with Kline-Frost Funeral Chapel of Belle Fourche.

Curtis K. 'Van' VanPelt

WELLINGTON, Kan. - Curtis K. "Van" VanPelt, 83, Wellington, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at SRMC.

Survivors include his wife, Alice VanPelt, Wellington; one son, Tom VanPelt, Piedmont, S.D.; two stepsons, Dale Carroll and David Carroll, both of Wellington; two daughters, Lyn Ketterman, Olathe, Kan., and Jane Reeves, Winfield, Kan.; one brother, Garth VanPelt, Wichita, Kan.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, with the family present from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Frank Funeral Home in Wellington.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at First Christian Church in Wellington, with the Rev. Kendale Finley officiating.

Burial, with Masonic graveside services, will be at Sumner Memorial Gardens in Wellington.

Memorials can be sent to the funeral home for First Christian Church.

Bruce Brademeyer

RAPID CITY - Bruce Brademeyer, 85, Rapid City, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, at a Rapid City nursing home.

Survivors include five children, Coral White, Brian Brademeyer and Boyd Brademeyer, all of Rapid City, Karen Brademeyer, Minneapolis, and Judi Lang, Monterey, Calif.; one sister, Alfredta Hess, Portland, Ore.; two brothers, Laurence Brademeyer, Los Angeles, and Joseph Brademeyer, Verona, N.D.; and five grandchildren.

Arrangements are pending with Behrens Mortuary of Rapid City.
