Richard E. Abrahamson
SIOUX FALLS - Richard E. Abrahamson, 69, Sioux Falls and formerly of Presho, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanine Abrahamson, Sioux Falls; three sons, Allan Abrahamson, Hartford, and William Abrahamson and Robert Abrahamson, both of Sioux Falls; three daughters, Connie Gibbens and Victoria Abrahamson, both of Harrisburg, and Kathy Hoffman, Canton; one brother, Donald Abrahamson, Sioux Falls; two sisters, Doloris Cronin, Presho, and Faye Klickner, Atlanta; and nine grandchildren.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Korean conflict.
Visitation will be for one hour before services, which will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at United Methodist Church in Presho.
Burial will be at Presho City Cemetery.

Claudia May Keck
WINNER - Claudia May Keck, 87, Winner, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at Heart Hospital of South Dakota in Sioux Falls.
Survivors include her husband, Leonhard Keck, Winner; two daughters, Sharon Saylor, Chancellor, and Sandra Narva, Kingston, Wash.; and four granddaughters.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Mason Funeral Home in Winner.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at United Methodist Church in Winner.
Burial will be at Winner Cemetery.
June I. Bonestell
SPEARFISH - June I. Bonestell, 97, Spearfish and formerly of Newell, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Survivors include one daughter, BettyLou Wilcox, Montgomery, Ala.; one son, Robert Bonestell, Duluth, Minn.; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Gordon B. Bonestell, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, and from 8 a.m. to service time Friday, Jan. 18, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Ron Hennies officiating.
Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche.
A memorial has been established.
Ida 'Pete' Weeks
PHILIP - Ida "Pete" Weeks, 99, Philip, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip.
Survivors include one sister, Lydia McKay, Huron.
Her husband, Miller Weeks, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at Rush Funeral Home in Philip.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at United Church in Philip, with the Rev. Al Brucklacher officiating.
Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. CST Saturday at Grandview Cemetery in Chamberlain.
A memorial has been established.
Sherwin Gyles Nelson
NEWCASTLE, Wyo. -
Sherwin Gyles Nelson, 74, Newcastle, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at his home.
His wife, Mary L. Nelson, preceded him in death.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at Greenwood Cemetery in Newcastle.
A reception at the Senior Citizens Center in Newcastle will follow services.

Wilma Joyce Goodoien
RAPID CITY - W. "Joyce" Goodoien, 88, of Rapid City, died Sunday, January 13, 2002, at Wesleyan Health Care Center in Rapid City.
Wilma Joyce Goodoien was born March 9, 1913, in Corsica, S.D., to Omar and Florence Hughes.
Survivors include daughter Patricia Kulhavy of Rapid City, sister Marjorie Naeve of Rapid City, 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2002, at Kirk Funeral Home Chapel of Light, with Pastor Al Jacobs officiating, with a fellowship to follow.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Milan, daughter Florence Christy, son James Goodoien, granddaughter Sarah Kubal, two sisters and two brothers. "I Hope They Were All There To Meet Her."
A memorial has been established to Black Hills Crisis Pregnancy Center.

Leonard Moses Fiddler
GREEN GRASS - Leonard Moses Fiddler, 66, Green Grass and formerly of White Horse Community, Cheyenne River, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2001.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Elk Head Fiddler, Green Grass.
A wake will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at Eagle Butte Cultural Center.
Services will be Friday, Jan. 18.
Burial will be at Green Grass Community Cemetery.

Raphael Bartholomew Long
PINE RIDGE - Raphael Bartholomew Long, 34, died Jan. 12, 2002, at Pine Ridge Hospital.
Survivors include his mother, Cynthia Catches, from Mission Flats, and his father, Bartholomew Long; one sister, Shannon Long Two Bulls; and two brothers, Xavier Long and Adrian Long; and his best friend and adopted brother, James White Face.
Funeral services are pending with Sioux Funeral Home in Pine Ridge.
Richard W. Twiss
ROCKYFORD - Richard W. Twiss, 38, Rockyford, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, in Rapid City.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Twiss, Rockyford; two sons, Kelsey Twiss and Joseph Twiss, both of Rockyford; three daughters, Carrie Twiss, Peppermint Twiss and Jasmine Twiss, all of Rockyford; and seven brothers, Donald Twiss, James Twiss and Pat Ross, all of Porcupine, Chuck Ross, Wounded Knee, Greg Ross, Flandreau, Bill Ross, Gordon, Neb., and James Cottier, Pine Ridge.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
A wake will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at Rockyford School.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at the school, with the Rev. Ben Tyon officiating.
Burial will be at St. Mark's Episcopal Cemetery in Rockyford.

Theone Weldon Woodward
SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. - Theone Weldon Woodward, 81, Sierra Vista, Arizona and formerly of Hot Springs, S.D. died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at Northwest Medical Center in Tuscon, Arizona.
Survivors include her husband, Harry R. Woodward Jr., Sierra Vista; one son, Terry Woodward and wife Jeanine, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two daughters, Kaye Whitehead and husband Gene of Memphis, Tenn., and Robin Robinson and husband Jay of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Jean Weldon, Hot Springs, S.D., and Vesta Johnson of Wildwood, Fla.; and five grandchildren, Cindy Whitehead, Lisa Tripp, Doug Whitehead, Sherri Burger and Nicole Williams.
Mrs. Woodward was born at home in Oral, South Dakota, on May 22, 1920, to Euthala and Floyd Weldon. Her family moved to Hot Springs when she was in the 7th grade, and she went on to graduate as Valedictorian of her high school class in 1937. She attended college at the University of South Dakota from 1937-1938. In 1940 she married Harry R. Woodward Jr., and they had three children. Her family was extremely important to her and she spent her life as a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.
Mrs. Woodward worked for a number of years in the banking industry, beginning with her job at the First National Bank of the Black Hills in Hot Springs at the age of 18. Later in life, she graduated from the Banking School at the University of Colorado and became an Assistant Vice President at the First National Bank of Golden in Colorado, where she worked for 17 years.
Mrs. Woodward was an accomplished musician who began playing the piano at an early age. Her musical ability was shared with others at various public functions throughout her life, including the inauguration of George Mickelson in 1949. She also played the piano and organ and directed the church choir at the Congregational Church in Pierre for many years.
Mrs. Woodward was a 50-year member of P.E.O. and treasured the friendships she made through this organization.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at Rooks-McColley Funeral Chapel in Hot Springs.
Services will be held Saturday, January 19, at 2 p.m. at United Churches in Hot Springs, with the Rev. Gary Warren officiating.
Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Hot Springs, with Rooks-McColley Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.

John A. McLean
RAPID CITY - John A. McLean, 86, Rapid City, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
He was born in Potter County, S.D., April 23, 1915, to John and Eda (Sevesind) McLean.
As a young man, he worked in the CCCs in the Jewel Cave area in the Black Hills.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army February 27, 1942, and received his basic training at Camp Bowie, Texas. He served two years in the South Pacific Theater, with the 31st Infantry (Dixie Division) as a field lineman. He received a Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Star, Good Conduct Medal and Bronze Service Arrowhead. He was discharged from the Army Dec. 30, 1945.
After the war, his life was spent farming and ranching in Potter and Sully counties until 1968, when he and his brother, Ray, bought a ranch in the Nemo, S.D., area. In 1989, they moved into Rapid City, S.D. In 1997 they moved to the Victorian Assisted Living Home in Rapid City.
John enjoyed horses and all Western equestrian events. He enjoyed playing bingo and an occasional trip to Deadwood, S.D.
He was a member of the American Legion of Gettysburg, S.D., and the VFW Post 1273 of Rapid City, S.D.
He leaves to mourn his death three sisters, Mabel Lake of Gettysburg, S.D., Harriet Olesen of Rapid City, S.D., and Evelyn Turley of San Diego, Calif.; one brother, Calvin McLean and his wife, Jeanne, of Rapid City, S.D.; sisters-in-law Edna McLean of Seal Beach, Calif., and Anna McLean of Rapid City, S.D.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and five sisters.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 16, 2002, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Behrens Mortuary, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., and one hour prior to services on Thursday, January 17, 2002, at the church.
Funeral services will be Thursday, January 17, 2002, at 1 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, with Reverend Duane Duley and the Vicar Tom Beaverson officiating.
Interment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, with military honors provided by VFW Post 1273.
