Morgan Andrew Garrett

GILLETTE, Wyo. — Morgan Andrew Garrett, 16, Gillette, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, at Presbyterian St. Luke's Hospital in Denver.

Survivors include his parents, Chuck Garrett, Gillette, and Nancy Garrett, Fruitdale, S.D.; two sisters, Stacey Jeffries and Janessa Garrett, both of Gillette; two stepbrothers, Jeremy Merdink and Josh Fronk, both of Gillette; grandparents Ralph and Bernice Miller, Edgemont, S.D., and Richard and Carolyn Garrett, Ottumwa, Iowa.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Gillette, with the Rev. Arnold Kari officiating. Burial will be at Mount Pisgah Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent in care of Wilson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 734, Gillette, WY 82717.

Anna Davenport

PHILIP — Anna Davenport, 91, Philip died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, at Philip Nursing Home.

Arrangements are pending with Rush Funeral Home in Philip.

Amber Dawn Green

SIOUX FALLS — Amber Dawn Green, 6, Sioux Falls, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Survivors include her father, John Green, Sioux Falls; her mother, Christina Green, Sioux Falls; two sisters, Cassandra Green and Tiffany Green; her grandparents, Jerry and Wendy Knapp, Belle Fourche, and Winona Sargent, Box Elder; her great-grandparents, Jerry and Marilyn Knapp, Hulett, Wyo., and Pat Goodman, Box Elder; and her great-great-grandparents, Marion Long, Hulett, Wyo., and Marie Knapp, Belle Fourche.

Services were held Saturday, Jan. 5, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Sioux Falls.

Burial was at Woodlawn Cemetery in Sioux Falls.

Ted L. Hoeye

RAPID CITY — Ted L. Hoeye, 80, of Rapid City passed into the arms of the Lord Thursday, January 10, 2002, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 13, 2002, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Kirk Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at Strathavon Wesleyan Church.

Funeral Services will be Monday, January 14, 2002 at 1 p.m. at Strathavon Wesleyan Church in Rapid City with Pastor Don Hodgson officiating.

Interment will be at Pine Lawn Cemetery followed by a reception at the Moose Lodge.

Ted was born March 27, 1921, at Esmond, S.D., to Lester and Bessie (Congdon) Hoeye. He moved with his family to Belle Fourche in 1938. In 1943, he met and married the love of his life, Helen Neisent. They lived on Indian Creek, north of Belle Fourche, where they ranched and he busted broncs. He had a special love for the prairie.

Later, he worked driving bentonite trucks and as a fireman for Chicago Northwestern Railroad. In 1953, the family moved to Rapid City where he entered Civil Service at Ellsworth Air Force Base. After retirement from Civil Service, he was employed Pennington County Highway Department and then with Baken Park Miracle Ear Center where he retired again in 1997.

Ted was governor of the Rapid City Moose Lodge for two years. He was President of the "In Memory of the 1902 Cowboys." He had a gift of friendship, never met a stranger and loved to visit with others. He was quick with a kind word and to help those in need. He loved to be with his family and especially enjoyed family gatherings. In August 2001, Ted and Helen celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary.

He is survived by his wife, Helen (Neisent) Hoeye, his sons James; Richard and wife, Terry, Montie and wife, Barbara, all of Rapid City; and five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren also survive him.

A memorial has been established.

MarJean Rinegar

UPTON, Wyo. — MarJean Rinegar passed away on the evening of January 7, 2002, at home after a six-month illness with pneumonia.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Cameron of Upton; four children, Patti Fleming of Sioux Falls, S.D., Roberta Lessing of Casper, Wyo., Cameron Rinegar of Belle Fourche, S.D., and Michael Rinegar of Phoenix, Ariz.; and four grandchildren.

Services were held on January 11 at the Upton Methodist Church, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery.

MarJean was the second of three children born to Arthur Carl and Hazel Anna (Burton) Ollenburg. She was born in Emery, S.D., on November 12, 1922. She attended grade schools in Emery and Sioux City, Iowa, before her family moved to Mitchell, S.D., where she was surrounded by many beloved relatives. MarJean graduated from high school there in three years.

MarJean and Bob ("Red") were married in Plankinton, S.D., and moved to Upton, Wyo., upon Bob's graduation from college. MarJean worked for 12 years as the grade-school playground supervisor. She was instrumental in getting the branch library in Upton established, first serving on the library board and then later as the librarian for 17 years. She liked mystery books and movies and especially enjoyed playing Bridge and taking care of her flower gardens.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her older sister Joyce and infant brother Robert.

She was a wonderful wife and mother and will be sorely missed.

Memorials would be welcome to the Upton Branch of Weston County Library or to the Upton Ambulance Fund.

Worden Funeral Home in Newcastle was in charge of arrangements.

Mildred L. Storm

SUNDANCE, Wyo. — Mildred L. Storm, 99, Sundance, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at Crook County Memorial nursing home in Sundance.

Survivors include special friend Betty Rush, Hulett; two nephews, Bill Alstead, Hulett, and Eugene Wright of Oregon; and one niece, Lucy Jones, Hulett.

Arrangements are pending with Fidler-Roberts Funeral Chapel in Sundance.

Otto R. Schmidt

RAPID CITY — Otto R. Schmidt, 91, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at Beverly Healthcare in Pierre.

Survivors include one son, Ronald Schmidt, Rapid City; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Private family services were held in Rapid City.

A memorial has been established in his name.

Behren's Funeral Home in Rapid City was in charge of arrangements.

Betty Lois Nix

RAPID CITY — Betty Lois Nix, 71, of Rapid City, died Saturday, January 12, 2002, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in New Underwood, S.D.

Betty Lois Craig was born March 3, 1930, at Duquoin, Kansas, at the farm home of Isaac Roy Craig and Cora Lucinda (Burke) Craig. She graduated 8th grade from the Honey Creek Country School. Betty graduated from high school in 1949 at Climax, Kansas, High.

She married Wilbur Nix on January 10, 1951, at Wichita, Kansas. They raised three sons; Dallas, Douglas and Tony. They moved to Rapid City in July 1971.

Faithful in service to her church and God, she was active in Sunday school and Children's Church.

Betty loved flowers and big gardens, camping, hiking and bird watching.

She entered the New Underwood Good Samaritan Center on May 19, 1994.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Wilbur of Rapid City; sons Dallas Nix of Rapid City, Douglas and Ruth Nix of Des Moines, Iowa, Tony and Cindy Nix of Wichita, Kan; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers Wilbur Craig, Donald Craig, both of Kansas; three sisters Nadine Smith, Mondella Craig, Darla Cook all of Kansas.

A visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, January 14, 2002, with a prayer service to follow with Pastor Robert James officiating at Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City.

Graveside services will be at a later date at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Scholarship Fund.

Angela Anderson Bice

AURORA, Colo. — Angela Anderson Bice, 31, Aurora, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, at Aurora.

Survivors include her husband, Darrin L. Bice, Lincoln, Neb.; her parents, Pete M. and Jane Anderson, Rapid City; three brothers, Justin Anderson, Grand Lake, Colo., Mark Anderson, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Brian Anderson, Burlington, Vt.; a sister, Kim Gillett, Bellevue, Neb.; and her maternal grandmother, Veronica DeWitt.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at First Presbyterian Church in Rapid City, with the Rev. David Miller officiating.

Interment will be at Silver City Cemetery.

A memorial has been established.

Warren Pellegrin

SENECA, S.C. — Warren Pellegrin, 75, Seneca, and formerly of Enning, S.D., died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, at Oconee Memorial Hospital in Seneca.

Survivors include his wife, Francine Pellegrin, Seneca; one son, Warren Pellegrin Jr., Stafford, Va.; two daughters, Danielle Pellegrin, Napa, Calif., and Michelle Pellegrin, Berkeley, Calif.; three stepchildren, Steven Likes, Sandusky, Ohio, Christopher Likes, Bradenton, Fla., and Sylvia Aldrich, Seneca; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis, with the Rev. Howard Smith officiating.

Burial will follow at Bear Butte Cemetery.

Carlsen & Aldinger Funeral Home in Sturgis is in charge of arrangements.

Lorraine ‘Lori' Nelson Hammitt Summerside

PIERRE — Lorraine "Lori" Nelson Hammitt Summerside, 64, Pierre, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital in Pierre.

Survivors include her husband, George Summerside, Pierre; one son, Craig Hammitt, Webster, one daughter, Julie Hilgemann, Aberdeen; one stepson, George S. Summerside, Pierre; one stepdaughter, Angela Dam, Sioux Falls; and four grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at Isburg-Hofmeister Funeral Chapel in Pierre.

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Lutheran Memorial in Pierre, and at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Minnehaha Funeral Home in Dell Rapids. Burial will be at Dell Rapids Cemetery.

Linda Lorena Miner

RAPID CITY — Linda Lorena Miner, 60, formerly of Piedmont, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, in California.

Arrangements are pending with Behrens Funeral Home in Rapid City.

Angela Anderson Bice

AURORA, Colo. — Angela Anderson Bice, 31, Aurora, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, in Aurora.

Survivors include her husband, Darrin Bice, Lincoln, Neb.; her parents, Pete and Jane Anderson, Rapid City; three brothers, Justin Anderson, Grand Lake, Colo., Mark Anderson, Cincinnati, and Brian Anderson, Burlington, Vt.; and one sister, Kim Gillett, Bellevue, Neb.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at Osheim-Catron Funeral Home in Rapid City.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at First Presbyterian Church in Rapid City, with the Rev. David Miller officiating.

Burial will be at Silver City, S.D., Cemetery.

A memorial has been established.

Gladys Pauline Day

WHEATLAND, Wyo. — Gladys Pauline Day, 83, Wheatland, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, at Platte County Memorial Nursing Home in Wheatland.

Survivors include four daughters, Patricia Derenburger, Mitchell, Minn., Dorothy Jones, Sundance, Donna Davis, Wheatland, and Carol Shafer, Pleasant Hill, Calif.; two sons, Gary Day and Robert Day, both of Wheatland; three sisters, Nellie Vaschone, Georgia Routhier and Doris Morrill, all of Freeport, Maine; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Allen Rosco Day, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at First Christian Church in Wheatland, with the Rev. Joel Dingman officiating.

Inurnment will follow at Wheatland Cemetery.

Platte Funeral Chapel of Wheatland is in charge of arrangements.
