Charlotte Lee Broderick

NEWELL — Charlotte Lee Broderick, 65, Newell, died Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at her home.

Survivors include her mother, Clara Douglas, Newell; two daughters, Jessica Broderick, Denver, and Merri Stapp, Newell; two brothers, Ron Douglas, Minnesota, and John Douglas, Newell; two sisters, Carolyn Baker, Gillette, Wyo., and Von Hanson, Nisland; and four grandchildren.

Her husband, Kenneth Paul Broderick, preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. today at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, and for one hour before services today at Nisland Independent Community Church.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at the church, with the Rev. Bob Reinsch officiating.

Burial will be at 3 p.m. today at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

A memorial has been established to Nisland Independent Community Church.

Raymond Bicek

RAPID CITY — Raymond Bicek, 89, Rapid City and formerly of Colome, died Monday, April 15, 2002, at Beverly Healthcare of the Black Hills in Rapid City.

Survivors include one son, Marlo Bicek, Winner; three daughters, Rhea Nye and Donna Roberts, both of Rapid City, and Doreen Kaiser, Wichita, Kan.; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Clara Musilek and Rose McIntosh, both of Winner.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at Mason Funeral Home in Winner.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Colome Cemetery.

Alice M. Harnisch Clair

PEORIA, Ariz. — Alice M. Harnisch Clair, 66, Peoria and formerly of Wall, S.D., died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at Hospice Center of the Valley in Peoria.

Survivors include her husband, Chet Clair, Peoria; three stepchildren, Darrell Clair, Cheryl Southwick and Debra Wales; six stepgrandchildren; one brother, Melvin Harnisch; and five sisters, Wilma Harnisch and Mildred Harnisch, both of Wall, Margaret Buckels, Eugene, Ore., Helen Slovek, Philip, S.D., and Esther Hoefs, Rapid City.

Arrangements are pending with Rush Funeral Chapel of Wall.

Babe Vivian Thompson Myers

PIERRE — Babe Vivian Thompson Myers, 75, Pierre, died Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at her home.

Survivors include seven daughters, Jackie Kelly, Bobbi Hammersley and Lisa Myers, all of Pierre, Carla Sherwood, Deadwood, Janelle Parsons and Susan Myers-Rawstern, both of Blunt, and Dawn Myers, Fort Myers, Fla.; three sons, Les Myers and Terry Myers, both of Pierre, and Jerry Myers, Healy, Alaska; 27 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marilyn Tormanen, Lake Norden.

Her husband, Elwynn Myers, preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at St. John's Catholic Church in Pierre.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 20, at the church.

Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Pierre.

Isburg-Hofmeister Funeral Chapel of Pierre is in charge of arrangements.

Doris Ann Kipena

LEAD — Doris Ann Kipena, 66, Lead, died Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at Northern Hills General Hospital in Deadwood.

Survivors include one son, Gary Kipena, Lead; three sisters, Delores Arionus, Vancouver, Wash., and Marliss Plaggemeyer and Noreen Steffen, both of Lead; two brothers, Ralph Kipena and Robert Kipena, both of Lead; and two grandsons.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Fidler Funeral Chapel in Lead.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 20, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Lead, with the Rev. David Baer officiating.

Burial will follow at Mountain Lawn Cemetery in Lead.

Helen M. Ellard

SUNDANCE, Wyo. — Helen M. Ellard, 83, Sundance, died Thursday, April 18, 2002, at Crook County Memorial Hospital in Sundance.

Survivors include one son, Terry Wiechert, Sundance; two sisters, Margaret White, Carlile, Wyo., and Lois Kennedy, Sundance; and one brother, Jim Bowers, Broadus, Mont.

Arrangements are pending with Fidler-Roberts Funeral Chapel of Sundance.

Beatrice May Larson

TEMPE, Ariz. — Beatrice May Larson, 90, of Tempe, Ariz., went to be with her Lord on April 13, 2002. Beatrice was born May 30, 1911, in Topbar, S.D., to Herbert and Jane Durston. She married Joe Larson on February 20, 1937, in Deadwood, S.D. They moved to Wall, where Joe worked on the railroad and together they operated Joe's shoe shop. After they sold the shoe shop, Bea worked as a cook in the Star Cafe in Wall. Bea moved to Rapid City in 1978. In 1987, she moved to Arizona to be closer to her daughters and their families.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; three sisters, Emily Wickersham-Horn, Rosie Goff-Davies, and Dorothy DeKnikker; one brother, Fred Durston; and one son-in-law, Albert DeLisle.

Bea is survived by three daughters, Janett (and Paul) Bradford of Tucson, Ariz.; Gladys (and William) Hunt of Mesa, Ariz., and Alice (and Daryl) Kruse of Tucson, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Stella Linenko and Mary Short of Port Orchard, Wash.; and special friend Robert Abbott of Tempe, Ariz.

Bea loved people and enjoyed sewing, making crafts, and playing bingo.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2002, at the United Methodist Church in Wall, with a viewing one hour prior to the service at the church. Rev. Jim Cissell will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Wall Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Campbell, Paula & Quinn Funeral Home in Rapid City.

Donations in her memory can be made to the Salvation Army.

John Bader

PIERRE — John Bader, 64, Pierre, died Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Angie Bader, Pierre; one son, Paul Bader, Pierre; seven sisters, Betty Brodhel, Dorothy Schneider and Margaret Simon, all of Bismarck, N.D., and Francis Kautzman, Ann Leingang, Ida Bader and Rose Hochhalter, all of Mandan, N.D.; and one stepgrandson.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service, at Isburg-Hofmeister Funeral Chapel in Pierre.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Pierre.

Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Pierre.

Casper Ambrose Twiss

PINE RIDGE — Casper Ambrose Twiss passed away on April 16, 2002, in Rapid City, South Dakota.

He was born on January 6, 1930, to Frank and Jessie (Bissonette) Twiss. He had one sister — Mersy, and four brothers — Seymour, Theodore, Franklin and William. He attended school at Our Lady of Lourdes and graduated high school at Holy Rosary Mission in 1948. Casper was part of the basketball team that won the 1947 and 1948 State Catholic Tournament Championship. He served in the United States Air Force for eight years. Casper married Gertrude Irving on November 5, 1955, and had four children. He worked for the Indian Health Service in Pine Ridge for 25 years as a Sanitarian, and for the Oglala Sioux Tribe Water and Sewer for two years after his retirement. He served on the Council of Elders for Pine Ridge Village. Casper was an avid fisherman and hunter, and served as a guide for a group of visiting hunters every year.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. Casper will be sadly missed by his wife — Gertrude Twiss, Pine Ridge; son — Christopher Twiss, Pine Ridge; daughters — Andrea Eagle Bull, Calico, DeAnn Perez, Rushville, and Lana Twiss, Pine Ridge; sister — Mersy Cuny, Manderson; brother — Theodore Twiss, Manderson; and grandchildren — Ryan Ross, Stephen Eagle Bull, Tyler Eagle Bull, LaRissa Ross, Richard Williams, Chelsea Perez, Emmanuel Hernandez and Nathaniel Hernandez.

Wake services will begin at 3 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2002, at Billy Mills Hall, and funeral services will be April 23, 2002, at Holy Rosary Mission at 10 a.m. Burial will take place at the Irving Family Cemetery in Calico.

Mary Ann Kennedy

NEWCASTLE, Wyo. — Mary Ann Kennedy, 71, Newcastle, died Tuesday, April 16, 2002, in Newcastle.

Survivors include one daughter, Deborah Kennedy, Riverton, Wyo.; two sons, John Kennedy, Sundance, Wyo., and Joe Kennedy, Casper, Wyo.; four sisters, Arlene Braunsroth, Syvilla Shermer, Elaine Forbes and Mavis Hubble; one brother, John Hall; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Her husband, Duane Kennedy, preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, April 21, at Worden Chapel in Newcastle. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 22, at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Newcastle, with the Rev. Trish Underberg officiating.

Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Newcastle.

Memorials may be made to Central Wyoming Hospice of Casper and Christ the King Lutheran Church.

M.J. "Lark" Larkin

RAPID CITY — M.J. "Lark" Larkin, 82, Rapid City, died Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Larkin, Rapid City, and one daughter, Linda Morrison, Rapid City.

Arrangements are pending with Osheim-Catron Funeral Home of Rapid City.

Laura Louise Moore

MARSHALL, Minn. — Laura Louise Moore, 18, Marshall, died Jan. 24, 2002, in Marshall.

Survivors include her parents, Ronald and Jeanette Moore, Marshall; one brother, Steve Moore, Shakopee, Minn.; her grandparents, Violet Moore and Loma and Betty Moore, all of Rapid City; and her great-grandmother, Louise Hasche, Hettinger, N.D.

Committal services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 19, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, S.D., with the Rev. Jim Crecelius officiating.

A scholarship fund has been established at Marshall Public School.

Leroy ‘Dick' Nicholson

WINNER — Leroy "Dick" Nicholson, 85, Winner, died Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Nicholson, Winner; one daughter, Teri Ellis-Schmidt, Sioux Falls; one son, Tom Nicholson, Sioux Falls; and four granddaughters.

Visitation will be before services, which will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 20, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Winner.

Burial will be at Winner Cemetery.

Mason Funeral Home of Winner is in charge of arrangements.

Ruth H. Kern

PROVO — Ruth H. Kern, 70, of Provo, S.D., died Sunday, April 14, 2002, at the Echo Ridge Apartments in Rapid City.

Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at Rooks-McColley Funeral Chapel in Hot Springs, with Rev. Peter Dahlberg officiating.

Burial took place in the Evergreen Cemetery in Hot Springs.

Ruth was born on August 6, 1931, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Jess and Ruth (Clark) Hiatt. Ruth married Marvin Kern on June 12, 1949. They lived and ranched by Rumford, South Dakota. Ruth was very active in the Republican Party and the American Legion Auxiliary all of her life.

Ruth was a very generous person who was very proud of her granddaughters.

Survivors include her husband, Marvin of Provo, S.D.; two sons, Gary and his wife Rhonda Kern of Torrington, Wyo., and Bruce and his wife Donna Kern of Black Hawk, S.D.; and granddaughters, Stacey Kern, Kylee Kern, Heather Kern, Lindsay Kern, Sadie Kern, and Amy Kern.

A memorial has been established to the Fall River County Republicans.

Arrangements have been placed in the care of Rooks-McColley Funeral Chapel of Hot Springs.
